Nice video. I worked as a professional streaming engineer and I really like the capture card. Normally I work with BM ultra or magewell cards. But this little usb card is nice to have as a backup solution. I like that this streaming app supports SRT. NDI would be a killer feature
Nicely presented and informative. Make sure your Camera's frame rates match that of the capture card, usually 30fps for that UVC device, otherwise your video gets very choppy with dropped frames. Also be mindful that those cards fail very easily, it's not a case of if but when, I bought a bunch of them and so far 3 have died within a matter of weeks.
Lots of videos on UA-cam about them so be aware. build quality varies and these have been pouring out of china. If your serious about streaming I would look at a more robust solution, as a hobby and a bit of fun they are ok.
I definately wouldn't use or consider them for commercial work.
That portable switcher concept using an android tablet for streaming is kind of a game changer.

Worked , but CameraFi app closes itself after 1.5 hours of streaming. Sometimes it does let you connect the stream again but sometimes you have to start a new stream ( UA-cam)

Try using the usb camera app with the livestreaming rig if you're inclined to go that way...
Add an wireless lavalier to the mix and you have a really good setup

Yea but this is amazing for people with nice dlsrs or mirrorless cameras that don't have this built in feature.
For remote directing, can a 4K camera record to an onboard storage medium at 4K whilst streaming at 1080p? The streaming would be via EVMux.

The downside of expensive 5G router + codec + capture card + camera + battery is that you need to plug 2 huge battery for the router and camera. yours setup is far better

Hi Neon, thanks for this tutorial. When I connect my camera to my phone it doesn't give me the option to select the USB rather its taking the video from the cameras phone. Any idea how to go about that?
I think it's hilarious how a live streaming app does not have one single tutorial (video) on their entire site.
So just found this , and I've been doing this for years had a few variations but I did add to this same setup instead of the otg which I use to use , I sine started using a USB c hub to phone , it has a speedcharge port for the hub then u can get a Anker power block and double or tripple ur time just be sure to keep batteries for the cam itself but the phone will have power for a long time

Does the sound go in stereo on this HDMI capture card? I read somewhere earlier that it was mono.. I'm looking at purchasing the ATEM MINI to do this exact mobile android streaming but I do music production content and STEREO is high up on the list of requirements for me. Thank You for the video!!

@@LiftedNoise Ok so just been playing around with this. The ATEM takes stereo inputs in mic inputs & via HDMI but camerafi app seems to be downmixing to mono. Might be best using a laptop and hotspot if you need 4G

There's no 4k option? You're using a DLSR to record. Or is your hdmi card too old?
That HDMI card is 1080p, you could use a camlink 4k, but am not sure if it will transfer to the phone...

CameraFi is good but too expensive for mobile streaming especially when you have to spend more money on internet services.

Thanks for this video! Question has anyone else had an issue where the video feed flickers a lot? I'm using a Sony a 7 rii and depending on the quality i set on my android phone the video feed flickers a lot or doesnt even show on the higher quality settings. I'll try with another android phone to see if that is the problem.
I tried this with my gh5 and Samsung A32 and get unusable choppy video, capture card works fine plugged into the pc so its either the little grey usb convertor or the phone

You can choose in the app, so whichever way works for you. I use a shotgun on the camera myself :)

Hi there, I cannot livestream using CameraFi Live application with Huawei p30 pro mobile and Sony a6400 camera. There is no OTG storage in Hawei phone. Thats why, I can't do any livestreaming at all. Kindly hlep me for that.

Hi, I have a samsung S9 (android 10), i've downloaded the correct apk provided in the video description, i have an elgato camlink 4k and a sony a7iii. When i connect the camera using an otg hub to my phone and open cameraFi, it displays some pop up messages to allow access to usb camera. i click ok on all of them, but the video feed doesnt come through, and i don't understand why. Any help is much appreciated!

I use the setup you have in the video but there is one problem. While recording by Android phone (I don't know for iPhone) - you can't charge the phone battery, so you are limited to 2 hours of recording ....
But don't the capture cards die quickly.. I'm considering to start using this set up but I have been told that capture cards die out of the blue, that it's not suitable for commercial purposes
So kindly share your experience champ

Thanks! Camerafi won't send to zoom but there might be some clever workaround. With a laptop it's super easy

I have the same setup but I can't get audio from the camera? I'm trying to live stream on Facebook but I can't get a audio signal. I switch to USB audio from the camera but no sound. I have a external microphone also which won't work either. Any ideas what this could be? Thanks 😊
It'll be a setting somewhere I think, gotta make sure the camera is outputting audio over hdmi and the phone is set to USB audio. Otherwise just try unplugging and replugging the adapters, I had it once with my gopro and I think it was just a loose adapter
