I have an updated video coming soon. I just tested the latest app with a new cheap android tablet I bought and, after some settings changes, I have it working perfectly. Look for the updated video next week.
Hey @MikesWorld1 love the review! Can you use the USB app and have it continue to stream with the screen of the phone off or does it have to be on? I Stream my sons soccer games and it saves SO much battery when I use other streaming apps with the screen off (like lyrix). Thanks again!
3 years later and I was desperately searching for a way how to stream with an external camera through Android. Thank you so much for doing this detailed and step by step tutorial!
Thanks Mike, glad I found your video. I was looking for a way to live stream storm chases using a video camera and this works perfectly. The app has some updates since you published this video, but still basically the same setup. I have my camera and my laptop going into an HDMI switch and out to a USB capture card, then going into a USB-C adapter that has a split USB-A connector and a USB-C. So I'm able to run my video to the phone and keep it charged at the same time. The HDMI switch allows me to go between camera view and radar maps easily, or whatever other HDMI input I want to use like additional cameras. So far, no issues streaming with this setup...thanks again, and you don't have to wear shoes if you don't want to! 😁😂
Thank for the video. I know it's a few years old, but I'm new to this live streaming stuff. Going to give it a try with my Sony camcorder and Samsung s21 fe. Thanks again.
Hi Mike. Curious to know your go-to set up at this point, as this is a few years old. This is still good and functional info, though the app stream commands have changed a bit recently. I'm using it for gamechanger app softball, with gopro hero 8 and media converter, also via rtmp. Saves from needing a wifi hot spot, which is huge! I do get a lot of inconsistencies and often drop the stream, so wondering if you've got a better in the field set up. Thanks.
This was really unexpected!!! I was using this very app without knowing it has streaming capabilities! I use twitch to stream, so I have to get the RTMP link for that! Thank you so much!
Awesome video man. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work. I used your links. to buy. Got to support good creators, now that YT is strangling us all trying to push SHORTS. 😡😤
Hey Mike Nice work. The setup is working fine. Only that 1280 by 720 is not picking 30 fps and above only 20fps and below.Any solution? I'm using hdmi capture card like yours in the videos
Best option is to get a USB-C splitter so two inputs into one. Plug the converter into one input and an external powerbank into the other. Right now I only use this setup for on-the-go breaking news that don't last more than an hours and just make sure I start with a fully charged phone.
No, you won't see comments using this. You would need UA-cam pulled up on another device. This is really just a quick run and gun setup that's good for something like breaking news or streaming something like the Portland riots, a protest, or another live event where you are moving around a lot.
Thanks Mike. I'm fine with that. Was just wondering. I just got the Sony ax53 and you can live stream directly from the camera but they charge 99 dollars a month. So this is what I was looking for. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the video. I have the free version and when I go to stream on UA-cam I need to have UA-cam Studio open on the PC. Do you know if with the pro version you can stream without having to have an open PC?
The problem is the stream setup settings in UA-cam. Auto start and auto stop needs to be enabled in your UA-cam stream settings. Otherwise, connecting and streaming only connects to UA-cam but you have to manually start and stop the stream from the UA-cam dashboard.
Great video Mike. Im going to live stream my uncles funeral and was thinking about using my galaxy tab A. Would this device be powerful enough to handle the stream? Cheers
It is a guy in Korea who developed the app. Yes, he would have access. His app is the only one I’ve found that can be used to connect an external camera to a device and use that device as an encoder to stream. Obviously, if you want to spend $700 you can buy a YOLO BOX Mini instead.
Mike, great video! Thank you! My issue with just using my phone has been lag and pixelization. I don't think a better camera solves that. How are you minimizing lag and pixelization?
A better camera will not solve that. It takes testing plus trial and error to get the compression settings right. That's based on the quality of signal your phone gets from the wireless carrier so my settings may not work well where you are. By rule, you should not stream higher than 1280x720 over wireless and try to keep the bitrate at 2Mbs or less. 1.5Mbs works well for me on 4G.
Hello how are you doing? Do you know if I can do this with my mirrorles camera? I have a sony a6000, it has a time limit of 30 minutes, and I wanted to know if with this method I can record more than half an hour, with the same quality and if the camera turns off from the heat.
Great content. I have an Apeman action cam that I am working with to live stream to twitch channel my running and racing events. Going to work through the app to get that setup. I bought the app to share my camera through twitch live app, but I think this rtmp setup might be way better. Thanks again for the great content!
Hi Mike again.. This video has been a great inspiration... Q. You say that you use power banks.. But how do you power the phone as well as get the capture input into the micro USB of the phone at the same time..? Thanks for the help..
It's possible with a USB-C male to twin USB-C female adapter however I've never tried it and wouldn't use it because the power bank is added weight. If you phone is fully charged you should get at least an hour and a half from the phone.
@@MikesWorld1 Nah mine has micro USB so no luck there. I would happily tolerate the slight extra weight of a bank for the assurance that I will not run out of power in the phone battery... I do maionly weddings and funerals, both of know no time limits.. cheers for the great work and responding.. CD
I downloaded the paid version of the USB camera Pro. I bought the HDMI input cable, the HDMI Video Capture Card, and the USB adapter to my phone. When I first turned it on it worked. But now it's not working. All my buttons, (IP Camera Server, Live Push, Record, and Snapshot are all grayed out and not functioning. The only thing not grayed out is the red button with the lines. That is functioning. I don't know what else to do? I set all the settings the way you showed. But it still is not turning connecting the external video camera to the phone. Can you advise please?
If you do not safe eject the device or the connection suddenly disconnects, you may need to reboot your phone for it to work. I had to do that with my android tablet once. Let me know if that doesn’t work and I’ll do some testing. Also make sure everything is connected before launching the app. Watch the updated video as well here: How to Live Stream Using An Android Device Connected to an External Camera ua-cam.com/video/9cI8fJ8BzkM/v-deo.html

No, I haven’t used this in a while. It’s kind of a emergency backup to be used if I was at a big breaking news event and needed to stream immediately to get something out to the world. Not something I’d use everyday.

The smartphone uses always the internal phone if i would record and stream (i connect my smartphone via USB with an external camera and 3,5 to my rode microphone)? If you have the setup up and running and working, put an "atem mini" in betwin your camera and your a phone and it will give you a mic input that you can change to line as far as i am informed.. double check this though.
Hello Mike, Thanks for posting this. I mainly record high school lacrosse games. This past week I was able to live stream for our semifinals and the setup worked great. I was connected to our schools wifi then. I was called last minute to livestream the State final but couldn't stream just using my phone data. I didn't have wifi available. Am I missing a setting somewhere? I travel with a couple of Lax teams during the summer and it would be great to live stream those events too. Thanks for any help!
Hi Mike. I work Live soccer games. The problem is that I can't charge the phone battery while I'm make Live... because my camcorder is attached to my Android phone over OTG cable....I can only record one match (1.5 hours). Is there a solution ...
Mike, Thanks for the video. Ran in to a problem. I purchased the app and connected as to showed. I'm using a Canon Vixio G40. I can see what the camera is seeing on my Galaxy Note 9. When I connect o you tube the app says im connected, but no livestream showing g up on UA-cam. Not sure what the problem is. Tried for over an hour with no luck.
Honestly, it’s been a long time since I’ve used this setup. The reason you aren’t seeing a stream is UA-cam took away auto connect and stream. Now, you can send your stream to UA-cam but you have to log into UA-cam studio and manually start the stream. It’s really taken away half the possible uses for UA-cam live-streaming.
Can this method works on a hard drive? Like instead of using a phone, the video capture card will be plugged directly to a hard drive or a storage where it has GB memory to it like sd card or something. In that way the video or files that you’ve recorded will be saved to the device like hard drive or sd card that i mentioned. Please respond thanks!
Hi. I have no "rtmp push" button on the left like on your device (14:25)! Only the other three. What can I do? When I want go live just wrote the next: unable to connect to rtmp live server ... or something.

Very interesting setup. Can a team of eg. 4 persons have this setup and connect through a firmware switch app (streamyard or other) and you can have a 4 cam live stream of a sport event?
I would like to comment. Mike I want to do a live stream while I am doing my video log will this be the best option for me? What other alternative options and way that are out here?
This is a great cheap option when on-the-go. If you are doing a vlog in a set location and not moving, I'd go HDMI from the camera into a laptop and stream through the free OBS studio software. If you do that, you'll want a Camlink 4K HDMI to USB adapter.
Hello Mike, thanks for the vídeo. Do you know if it is possible to add an overlay with dime text? Im trying to stream my local football team due to covid-19 and learning a lot about this topic
I'm sorry I am just now seeing this comment. I've been streaming HS football this year using an ATEM Mini and laptop running OBS. One manned camera, two unmanned cameras, and myself doing play-by-play. Here is a link to a sample: ua-cam.com/video/QM74z0w3QOc/v-deo.html I'll be posting a video soon of my setup for high school football. Stay tuned.
Hi Mike this is working!!!! But audio not is right, I am using small video camcorder Sony and Android phone Samsung Galaxy S10e also The phone screen show double view, please what can I do? Thank you!!!!!
Hello I have all the hardware but I'm having an issue with the live stream to UA-cam and Facebook giving choppy video at 720p and at 1080p. Is it the app or just the phones signal. I saw another video to use camera fi live haven't tried the app in your set up yet.
Best guess is if it’s choppy it’s because the phone signal isn’t strong enough to push through the required data rate. I honestly haven’t had to use this setup since I made the video. I need to revisit and make an updated video.
Thanks a lot for the great video. It works really well. Is there any way I can share the streaming link and send to the viewers I would like to watch the live stream?
Here is a link to the video that was streamed. I trimmed it and reuploaded it but did not change the quality. This is how it streamed on UA-cam. I deleted the original raw stream. ua-cam.com/video/N7urq-mMC5s/v-deo.html
I have a Android Galaxy 22 ultra that utilizes a usb-c connection and I would like to stream using external webcam in the form of ATEM mini HDMI switcher this would be ideal if it can work I'm not sure about that Chinese app but I could give it a go because this would be a really great setup for mobile event multiview streaming
I want to stream my gaming. Can I stream my PC gameplay through my Android phone. My PC can't handle gaming and streaming at the same time but can play quite smoothly with dual monitor. So theoretically i can stream right?
Yes, theoretically you could stream gameplay through your Android phone. Just beware not all Android devices work. It’s hit and miss. I bought a new Samsung phone and it worked great. Also worked great with my ONN tablet. After the recent updates, neither work now.
@@MikesWorld1 ok thanks for the information. I will go ahead and buy. Even if it doesn't work with phone. I can opt out for a dual pc streaming setup in future.
Got the pro app unable to add steam key information in the RTMP Settings manager. After going to add and entering all the info and selecting add nothing happens? Am I missing something or is it another option of adding the info?
I connected or tried to connect according to this manual, but there is no picture yet. My card is EasyCap Video USB Grabber UTV007 and the problem is in it. The control light does not turn on, which means that there is no power from the phone and therefore does not work and does not transfer the picture .It works normally on the computer.Probably a setup problem. Please help me.
That capture hardware is not supported. When you use the HDMI to USB capture device in the video, you get color bars when there is no signal or no HDMI cable plugged in. I've never tried any analog to USB capture devices.
@@MikesWorld1 I forgot to say that I did not use the otg cable but the direct connection. Maybe there is a problem because in the description of the "usb camera" application it says that it supports this utv 007 card
I connected it with an OTG cable and found that this card is compatible, it transfers the image to the USB camera application. But there is another problem. The card consumes the phone's battery quickly, which prevents a longer stream.I hope to find a way to solve that as well.
Well, I appreciate you, I thought I could do it with my Elgato cam link. Thanks for the insight I been wondering about that on my youtube page going live and wondering what kind of rig I would have to make for my laptop. Thanks for the info but I have to spend a little more money and get the dongle. Thank a lot
No, you can’t do it on an iPhone because iOS is a closed system and won’t accept a UVC camera connection. Also, not all Android phones will work. It’s largely depends on the version of Android and the chip in the device. For reference, I bought a new Samsung A54 phone. Initially it worked fine. After the phone auto updated to the latest version of Android, this streaming option stopped working. It still works on my ONN Android tablet through.

Thanks Mike, I have realized my first transmision of a wedding with you video support. I have a littlie question, With these chinese adapter uvc your phone recognize the 1080 a 60 fps? I have a phone with microusb input but my smartphone only recognize 30 fps but I have a camera sony of 60 fps 1080
I believe 30fps is the max using this app. The device does support 60fps though.
Great video. How do I find the link to my stream so I can share it with someone when I go live?
Go to your page on the UA-cam app and click share and copy the link then send it.
Very interesting setup. Can a team of eg. 4 persons have this setup and connect through a firmware switch app (streamyard or other) and you can have a 4 cam live stream of a sport event?
I really don't know. I've never attempted or tested that.
Wondering if there is an adapter that would allow me to charge my phone at the same time as I am streaming?
I would like to comment. Mike I want to do a live stream while I am doing my video log will this be the best option for me? What other alternative options and way that are out here?
This is a great cheap option when on-the-go. If you are doing a vlog in a set location and not moving, I'd go HDMI from the camera into a laptop and stream through the free OBS studio software. If you do that, you'll want a Camlink 4K HDMI to USB adapter.
@@MikesWorld1 and a very good laptop ... it won't work without it.
Thank you so much, this is a lifesaver!
Glad it helped!
Here is a link to a sample: ua-cam.com/video/QM74z0w3QOc/v-deo.html
I'll be posting a video soon of my setup for high school football. Stay tuned.
@@MikesWorld1 thanks for responsing I'll hava a look at it!
great video sir. MAy I ask, can you write in the title and description in youtube post for the live stream?
Yes, at least at the time I made this video you could. Updates to the app could always change that.
Thanks, I saw another channel called febon and he charged alot of money for his capture card ..thanks alot!
Hey Mike, have you tried LARIX broadcaster for IOS.. looks like USB Camera Pro to me..?!
Can u add web overlays such as twitch alerts on the USB camera pro app?? Ty in advanced!!
Hi Mike this is working!!!! But audio not is right, I am using small video camcorder Sony and Android phone Samsung Galaxy S10e also The phone screen show double view, please what can I do?
Thank you!!!!!
just got it to live stream but I have no audio. Any suggestions? Please help.
@@MikesWorld1 please do
Thanks a lot for the great video.
GREAT INFO THANK YOU MUCH!!!
Glad it was helpful!
The RTSP option is good for getting in to vMix and OBS, but I found the data rate to be waaaaaay to low - blocky and drop outs.
Hello thanks for the information,i just but capture card and downloaded the app but is not working, please must i i go for the pro
You need the Pro version of the app. If your phone is still not seeing the camera then your phone is likely not compatible.
@@MikesWorld1 thanks very much it work later even the free version work,i but i just went for the pro version.
Can ph app down-transcode 1080p 30 to SD rez ?
Is it possible to charge the phone at the same time or the USBC cable setup charges the phone as well ?
Yes you can. I use an USB's hub with external power connection (from a powerbank)
@@galmazanmartinez I tried using a USB hub but both OTG and charging does not work. Can specific prodyct you can post that would work
It's possible but compatibility is an issue. I don't have a specific workflow with specific hardware that works. It's trial and error.
@@galmazanmartinez Yes, but OTG cannot charge and video at the same time
Will usb camera pro work on Google Meet live stream? I've researched it and can't find anything about it. Thanks
I’ve never used Google Meet. If Google meet provides a url and stream key to set up a stream then yes.
@@MikesWorld1 it has a url and has an original code assigned for each live video for groups to enter for access.
hey Mike, can I use that same set up for Zoom streaming?
How did you get it, it can't show in my phone
Will it hook up with a USB input instead of HDMI?
I’m not sure. I haven’t tried it that way. If it’s a USB source pushing video such as a webcam output then it should work.
thank you brother, very good and more understandable.
introduce me dion youtube beginner from indonesia,👍👍👍
Here is the updated video: How to Live Stream Using An Android Device Connected to an External Camera
ua-cam.com/video/9cI8fJ8BzkM/v-deo.html
Thank you very much for information.
Hi nice to c your video. Very good information. Can we use camera audio in the streaming
Yes you can
I used this set up but don't get audio in my videos
Great video.. Can i use an USB mini phone?
Yes, just get an appropriate adapter.
Very Very thanks
Can I live stream zoom meeting using a 8" Tablet with an external video camera?
Well, I appreciate you, I thought I could do it with my Elgato cam link. Thanks for the insight I been wondering about that on my youtube page going live and wondering what kind of rig I would have to make for my laptop. Thanks for the info but I have to spend a little more money and get the dongle. Thank a lot
Works only this capture card or some other works too?
The only two I’ve tested are this one and the Cam Link 4K. Both worked.
How do I set up the stream for zoom instead of youtube?
This only works with platforms where you can setup a manual RTMP stream. UA-cam gives you that option. Zoom does not.
@@MikesWorld1 Do you know if Zoom has been updated now to use this same system to live stream?
I have a sony hvr z1 what cable should i use
Thanks a lot for this video
How do you charge phone using this setup
You will need a USB-C splitter. amzn.to/3UYlfp7
I tried this setup (Note 9), but unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. It seems that Google is blocking UVC signal on the system level in Android 10.
Sir i live in india i dont get usb camera pro in my android
Hi , i downloaded the PRO app but it keeps buffering ?
The app was recently updated and hasn’t been working properly since
@@MikesWorld1 lol just paid 😀. Is there any other app you would recommend?
can i phone be done? if you can get the right piug in to it?
No, you can’t do it on an iPhone because iOS is a closed system and won’t accept a UVC camera connection. Also, not all Android phones will work. It’s largely depends on the version of Android and the chip in the device. For reference, I bought a new Samsung A54 phone. Initially it worked fine. After the phone auto updated to the latest version of Android, this streaming option stopped working. It still works on my ONN Android tablet through.
so not even a monitor then too ... thanks@@MikesWorld1
Can we use this for What's App video call?
Only if What's App allows for manual RTMP stream setup. I've never used What's App so I don't know what their options are.
@@MikesWorld1 Thanks
My stream comes through as 4:3 even though it I changed the setting and it shows 16:9 on my phone. Any ideas?
double tap?
Apakah input HDMI bisa dari PC?
How do I add overlays titles and logo while live streaming?
