Indian Challenger Start Up and Showcase

- In the last video I gave you all my initial impressions of the Indian challenger based on Indian's Launch Reveal. I then got a call that the Challenger was in the area so I got the early opportunity to see the Challenger up close and personal. Lol, oh yeah, that's right. I was able to touch it, put all of my finger print bits on it and experience all of the design elements in person. Except, I didn't get to ride it. We have to blame the weather on that., but I did get thoughts from others there experiencing it so definitely hit the subscribe button so you don't miss those moments when I do post them.
I'm still going through all of the footage I have so until I get that done, I pulled out a round of beauty shots showcasing the Challenger. Let me know what you all think about it all in the comments and hit the like button if you enjoy it. So, until then, here's the Challenger in its sandstone bronze glory.

I think the Challenger just kicked the H-D Road Glide ass. But i will say this, with the exception of the cast aluminum frame, 122 HP water cooled engine, Fox Mono Shock, inverted forks, 3 ride modes, single headlight, integrated running/turn signals, remote locking saddlebags, Power Windscreen & ride command system, the Challenger looks like the Road Glide lol.
122 HP vs Harley 95HP
128lbs torque vs Harley 123
0 - 60 3.9 seconds vs Harley 4.8
1/4 mile 12.2 seconds vs Harley 13.4
1/2 mile top speed 106mph vs Harley 98.1
Yup, exact copy of Harley lol
That being said, i have an appointment with Indian Saturday, November 2 to look at placing an order.
Heck yeah. If I had the coin, I'd definitely be getting one. It's gonna be a hoot.
The more I see it the more I like it. I believe its going to be a huge success!
I do too. It grows on you fast.
Chldof1TrueKng I agree!
I must agree! The more I see it the more I like it. I cannot wait until Indian puts a tour pack on the back and offers a touring model!
Same here...not to mention a base price of $21,999. Might have to go take a look at it.
I love the look of this bike,I'm glad Indian threw a curve ball and went with a single headlight of this bike instead of 2. The L.E.D line lights on side of the headlight, makes this bike look mean as fuck. I ride a HD roadglide and Indian really has my attention with this one. They had my attention at the Chieftain. Just a beautiful bike and MORE to offer at the price point!
Man, I like it. Indian is doing some great things lately.
Beautiful bike I have never been a motorcycle owner but just the looks and the history of Indian makes me want to buy one. don’t care too much for Harley everyone I know who owns one always complains about them always breaking down so I’m an Indian man all the way looking to buy one sometime in the future
You should. Changed my life for the better.
Yes, yes, and YES!
🗣️ YES
I can’t wait to hear it with no cats and way less baffles
Maaaaann!!!!
Brandon Bicasso let’s face it nikes don’t sound good from the factory cause epa regulations and noise regulations
I've owned several HD and recently traded in my Road glide for a fat bob.
Given the choice between the challenger and road glide I'll go with the challenger
Interesting feedback! I test rode the Fat Bob and almost got it before the Scout Bobber. I want to see what HD will do to revamp the Road Glide.
Some people are saying it looks like a Harley I think it looks more like a victory to me
I can see that too.
I'm seriously diggin this bike!
Same 😭🙌🏾
🎅 Santa, I'll take two of them for Christmas 👍
Ask Santa to throw one in there for me. 😬
Thank you for sharing! The Challenger is truly bringing back the battle for the American Titan! Harley is going to suffer due to this bike.
I'm all for this battle!
U know the 1 thing NO ONE has talk about is the Indian emblem on the bike. You use this emblem of the true American people without thinking of giving anything back to the people it like , WHY ? Just something to think about. For every bike sold a $100.00 should go to the people on the reservation that was placed / forced there.
This is true. Definitely a worthy conversation.
Earnest Markham I’ve heard from unofficial sources that they pay a certain tribe rights for the logo but didn’t hear actual prices and all that jazz.
@Brandon Biccaso Another great video, look forward to more. Ok, the fairing design is growing on me, need to see it in person. Nerdy comments: The fairing speakers look massive, are they? . Did the Challenger get a locking gas cap? Were you able to sit on it with feet flat on the ground? Does the LED head dress have the ability to change the light color? Also, the popping noise someone mentioned might have been the engine and more likely it was the music beat bed...lol. Looks as though Indian is evolving, need to start saving and maybe by the time I get there there will be something new 😀
The speakers are def massive. They had good volume even when on loud when we tried them out.
Yes, locking gas cap. The button is under the right speaker along with the saddle bag lock. You press it and it pops the gas cap up. I got that in a video coming.
Head dress doesn't change colors, but that should be easily with an after market multi colored led stripe.
Definitely the music beat bed, lol. I'll try to find one without a bed as loud. The second song was a nice touch, though.
@@BrandonBicasso Thanks. BTW, I thought the music bed volume was fine - no complaints here.
@@atomicplus-us noted! I'll keep it the same. ❤️
I love this bike. I plan on trading my 2019 Chieftain in for the Challenger.
🤑🤑🤑
Think I'm going to do the same with my 17 chieftain.
@@chrisc6188 Editing the test ride footage now. Fantastic machine.
Good looking bike.
Agreed 😎
Brandon, the lighting and the filming are awesome!! Out of every video I've seen of this motorcycle, yours is the best. The lines of the bike, the colors, it really show me the details. Thank you!!!!
Hey, Marino! Glad you enjoyed it! Check out my test ride too 😎
@@BrandonBicasso Ive watched all your videos on it. Very nice, you have a nice family to ride with. Be safe, and i joined your channel.
Sweet I made it in the video!!! Got some great shots.
More shots coming. It's definitely cool to see yourself on camera from a different point of view, right? It was cool meeting you two!
You smoking crack, if you think this bike is not hot....
Lol, crack is wack.
Smoke Bronze Bronze Smoke. Tomato Tomato. My Bad, lol.
EDIT: The color is Sandstone Smoke 🤦🏾♂️
What's that tapping noise in the background?
Whichever its brautiful!
Not sure, might be something in my audio I missed. Was it during the bike start up?
@@BrandonBicasso *Sandstone smoke. lol.
Shit! I thought it was Bronze Smoke!
Nice bike but three things stand out negatively for me, 1) the curve on the bottom of the tank screams Victory and 2) the fairing is disproportionately large compared with the bike size as a whole and finally 3) the handlebars angle down and forward too far into the fairing so I see issues with replacing with 12” or similar size.
Victory R&D pretty much designed this bike. The bars can be rolled forward "some" or just swap them out. Tank doesn't look as large (imo) in person. Tank feels like it's in your lap while riding, but makes the bike feel balanced given the weight.
I does look beautiful in spicy mustard ... really, but I think the fairing is too large, too heavy, not in proportion to the rest of the bike. I'll keep my Harley, I just won't be "challenging" any of them to a drag race. Thanks!
LOL! That's a first.
Its a very cool machine, I think the new Honda Goldwing gives a better value, but I still like this Indian, conflicted, yeah just a bit.
Yep! We got options, right?
25 seconds in , LOOK AT THE BEAUTIFUL DUCATIS!!!! MOTO. DUCATI !!!😎😎😎😎😎
LOL YEEEEEEESSSS
😄Put 80 miles on the Multistrada yesterday! Getting chilly in Pennsylvania! !😎😎🍺🍺
XDiavel for me 🤭
Brandon Bicasso never ridden one . you ?
If you want to here the stage one pipes, I posted a short clip on my Instagram page. Snag it if you like👍
Will check it out! Might use it in a future vid ❤
It’s a very nice looking motorbike. It could be one of the last great piston bikes before electric takes over (aaargh)!!
🥴
Get the bike you want to ride, I always wanted a Harley and now I ride a Road Glide. It looks nice I'd get that over a Honda Gold Wing though.
Definitely ride what you want!
Hey thanks for this video. The Challenger is going to be a huge success in a sadly shrinking market. What an upgrade in touring style. It checks all the boxes in my opinion, well maybe except price point lol, from the Victory Vision which I thought was the best riding and most comfortable tourer I ever owned.
Yeeeeah, price will choke you out, lol.. I sat on a Vision for the first time the same day I filmed this. I get the appeal but dang the looks are a tough one for me to get over. I would eventually, though.
@@BrandonBicasso Yeah I had a 2015 and loved it. If that bike came with LED lighting and NAV it would be danged near perfect if you can handle that look...LOL!
Pretty.....i need those mid rise bars tho
Yes, more on that in the next video.
Very beautiful bike
Agreed
Great bike but don’t like the smoke look and no chrome! I can’t understand why all the new bikes are getting the same look! What happened to the two tone paint and chrome Indian has been known for???
Indian is known to start off with a few colors then offering their other colors like the icon series down the line. They've done it with the Bobber/Chieftain, Springfield, etc.
The limited will have chrome.
do you if it has a fork lock?
It does!
I have a 2020 road glide I absolutely love but I'm having difficulty on the overall look of the indian. Honestly I wasn't a fan of the look of the road glide but the ride and handling is hands down better than the batwing fairing
It'll grow on ya. Maybe..
@@BrandonBicasso it's possible. I'm glad that they are going after that market. Competition is always good for us
@James Wilson I've never been in a Lexus...but the glide is the best 2 wheel ride I've ever been on
Hate on Harley’s all you want but that Exhaust note sounds like shit. Especially at idle. But I guess that’s what you would expect from a 60degree water cooled non pushrod engine. I thought you hated on Harley’s because they are too expensive ? $28k same as a Roadglide ...Harley has zero to worry about. Wait and see no one will buy these. The main reason is they don’t sound or look right. The thunder stroke sounded way better than this 108. They should have developed that motor more. Who is going to buy these? Disgruntled Harley owners? No. Ex Goldwing riders that hate Harley’s ? People that just hate on Harley’s ? Yeah a couple but they aren’t into heavy weight cruisers anyway. Proof is look at the dismal sales on Yamaha’s supposed Harley killer Star Venture. My local dealer still has the two 2018’s Ventures they never sold and at huge discounts.
I've never been a bagger fan, but this new bike is sweet. It's growing on me fast. Your lucky to get to touch one. I had heard they would not hit showroom floors till next week. I see one of these in your future, Mr. Bicasso :))
Yes, I hate I couldn't get the test ride because of the weather. I tried. Will try again this weekend, but even though my eyes are on many motorcycles right now, I gotta say this bike is an eye catcher in person.
That's a very nice bit of kit 😎😎 cool colour too 👍👍
Agreed. 😎
Love it. Probably not the bike for me, but I really dig it
I believe it Not going to be as big as they can be. Indian needs a better marketing team
Ima have to disagree with you on that. They're pushing this bike hard and got the after market fired up as well. Only time will tell, but I think this launch will be heavier than the FTR. We got the hype then BOOM, they dropped it immediately rather delay it like the FTR.
I’m excited to see this bike. I’m demo’ing it tomorrow. My CVO Street Glide may be looking for a new home...
Same! Where are you demo'in?
Memphis
Not a fan of the styling at all, but that headdress thing on the front fender with the marker lights up top make that important triangle of light that that makes the bike easier to see on the road. Pretty cool idea.
Very true. It's bright as is. At night it would be pretty cool to see.
Brandon Bicasso bmw does this “triangle” thing too, the GS1200s and the K1600 have it. It makes it so cars waiting to turn into traffic can gauge your speed better. A single headlight makes it look like you’re moving much slower than you really are, I can’t remember what the name of the “effect is” but it’s part of why people pull out it front of motorcycles all the time.
@@kylemoore9626 Interesting. Didn't know that
As long as they can make 12 inch handle bars for it I would buy one. I think Indian did it right this go around. This bike and motorcycle is what Harley-Davidson riders have been asking them to do for years, their hot motors, chain drive primary, light bulbs, and just now going to 4 valves per cylinder as of 2017 is rediculous.
Indian knew what time it was and again as long as they can install or have installed a 12 & 14 inch handle bar that can sit in a 13 O’clock position I am getting one.
I'm sure it's doable
Very nice! I like what they are doing.
Samesis
It ain’t no Road Glide that’s for sure.
Truuue
It looks good, mature, modern, still "Indiany"
Agreed!
i have asked 3 times on different sites about people's service experience. fewer dealers means their service departments got you by the balls whereas Harley has a ton of service centers as well as private mechanics. are people getting reamed by their Indian service or is it no big deal
I've never had my bike serviced by Indian. Mine was wrecked before I had a chance to. However, I have 4 friends with Indians and they never had issues with multiple service dealers. I can't speak for them all but I'd imagine bad experiences can be had out there. As for us, nothing but positive experience.
How much does it weigh and what is the rpm redline? The aluminum frame looks similar to a Scout.
831 wet, 6500 rpm. Frame is similar but the bike feels and looks bigger than a Scout.
@@BrandonBicasso
Wow, while about the same as others in the segment, still waay too heavy.
Fairing, bags, etc. I want that stripped muscle vibe with this engine platform.
@@BrandonBicasso
Now you are talking!
I really like the bike as a whole, I just wish they could tweak that front end just a little. I’m not a huge fan of that particular style. I would still get the bike though if I could afford it
Nice video. RIP Road Glide. ⚰
The 2020 M8 one, anyway.
Footage so nice I had to watch it twice. ✌
I felt that. ❤️
Nice
Definitely need to get my riding skills up to buy that. Relearning on a rebel 300. It's like a grom for fat people
You'd adapt in no time long as you got the basics down.
Don't tempt me, God damn it!!
😉❤️
Harley better up thier game
Truuuue
I can't help but notice all the Scout-like lines on the gas tank and fenders. It's like some sort mega Scout. If they ever make a fairing-less version it should be called the Indian Warrior. Just a thought.
It's DEFINITELY bigger than the Scout. Feels meaty.
Thanks for the good view of the Challenger, maybe next the weather will be better!
Supposed to be 😃
Cannot wait for the Indian Demo rides next Spring so I can test the Springfield DH, Chieftain DH and the new Challenger. So many choices for my next bike :)
Same 😭🙌🏾
Not for me. I'm Harley
😅
Which dealer was this?
Big #1 in Birmingham Alabama. This Challenger was on the demo truck and moved to Memphis Tennessee. Will be moving again after tomorrow.
You never started it !
I didn't. Someone else did at the beginning.
I think we see someone's next bike.
Could be 😎
Solid video, thanks for all the detailed shots. I'm gonna pass on this beauty, I got the FTR-1200 fever madness, although the new Scout Bobber 20 may cure the madness for me too. I need more money and more garage please. :)
PS: Would really value hearing Jarrett and the krew's opinion on the Challenger. They have a lot of saddle time on their Indian baggers and could share some well informed insight as to what's better/worse compared to the rides they have now...
That's coming.
Still from polaris Victory bikes were much beautiful
These bikes are beautiful big and heavy heavy being the problem they don’t stop worth a crap OK I’m riding a ZX14 but I wanted a cruiser I ended up having to go with the Triumph Trophy because the Indian scared me when I test rode it just didn’t stop very well. I look forward to test riding a Challenger to see if the addition of Brembo breaks improved it’s ability to stop💢
Never had an issue stopping on one. Brake feel was great on the Challenger. No squishy feeling levers either. It needs that stopping power, though.
I'm almost surprised that no one bought it on the spot!
It was a demo. Not for sale at that time.
HD in trouble.
OOOOUUUU
Great music 2 video editing. SO how does it stack up 2 an M109? I'll wait 4 better weather report.
Slightly better numbers, actually. I won't know without cracking that throttle back, though.
Looks great !
Agreed!
just noticing only 2 speakers too bad there is not one of the three versions offering lowers or a tour pack
I'm sure it will be soon.
I hope they make a fullsize Scout using that engine, I'm not a fan of fairings
That'd be dope
alot of people say it looks like the road glide, those people don't know difference in design , that engine looks great , and for some reason the bike looks less clotted then the road glide, and this coming from a purist harley rider
I said the Challenger looked as if everything was more tight versus the gaps in design on the Road Glide.
I have a Chieftain, I’m in love with this bike. Does it have the buttons on the tank for the heated grips, and saddle bag lock?
Buttons are there but not on the tank. They're under the two dash pockets in the fairing.
That’s the bike you’ve been waiting for. I’m going to Savannah on the 12th for the demo.
It just might be! Let me know what you think of it when you do.
Brandon Bicasso absolutely bro. I’m going to ride the 116 line up also. The 20 Springfield is calling me. Every time I see the sage brush green I have to fight the urge to make bad financial decisions lol.
@@FNGMOTO decisions 😬
I got to ride it......... Amazing piece of machinery. One will be in my future.......soon
Please do ❤️
This is the Indian motorcycle i've been waiting for a liquid-cooled V-Twin on steroids with all the amenities and I'm going out to place my order ASAP. 🗨️😎
Ayeee, what color?
Great close up shots in this video Brandon. Now looking forward to watching a video after you test ride the Challenger.
Soon! I'm getting my hands on it tomorrow no ifs buts about it.
@@BrandonBicasso ----> What did your uncle think of the Challenger when he saw it in person?
@@amphibdriver1 Hyped up ready to ride it like me.
It didn't look like you were flat footed on the bike. I thought you were fairly tall. Is the bike that tall?
I flat footed when straddling the bike. Also, I'm 5'10.
I love that light on the front fender. I wonder if it'll fit my Vintage 🤔
I don't see why it wouldn't. Just some holes to drill or rather remove and replace.
Way to quiet. Would definitely need to upgrade
Truue
No doubt it's a cool bike and has things harley owners wish they had, but it's amazing how much they ripped off the road glide with the fairing shape lol.
3 Percent Mick it’s a two wheeler only so much you can do with it, anyway ripping off a Harley design wasn’t what Indian was aiming for I’m sure, they can stand on their own two feet (wheels?).
There's only so many ways you can do a batwing fairing. Lets talk about how HD ripped off Suzuki and Honda on the batwing or europeans with their new line up. If that's the case anyway.
If it had a Polaris logo and nameplate on the gas tank would you still be excited? It’s not an Indian, it’s a Polaris. Still a great bike I’m sure.
I would. I'm not caught up over a brand name. If it looks good to me and hits the points I like, I will ride it.
Brandon Bicasso same here.
I still return to watch this one.
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 love the color
It's dope. 😬
Ugh. I'm in love. Time to start saving for 2020!
🤑
it looks ight but, Harley is still king of the road. The Roadglide looks so much better.
I respect that comment. You like that the road glide looks better. Simple and positive opinion. ❤️
screw u looks are personal choice but you won’t be seeing anything but the tail lights.
🏁🏆🏁🏆
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Will this be your next bike??
Might be
Nice!!!!!! Good job B !!!!!! #supportmvc
😘
I'm diggin'it, I usually go flat black but I could see me going bronze. I'd throw louder pipes on first thing, it's saved me many times out there.
Cheerz!
Yeah, the bronze is super hot!!
Dave Von Redlich LOUD PIPES POOR SUBSTITUTE FOR NO SKILL !!!! That's what my shirt says !!
@@artmchugh5644 your shirt sounds lame, have fun on your Vespa Sir.
Had to wear the loud pipes shirt because the ," BEST THING IN THE HARLEY. SHOP WINDOW IS THE REFLECTION OF MY DUCATI. Shirt. Was in the wash 😄😄😄😄
WOW !!! Flat black and chrome! !!!! Fuck that is really original! !!!😄
Way to much time given to a Victory/Indian/Polaris , wow now we can go from 2% to 3% of the market .
Lol, so much hate. You all weren't saying this until Victory/Indian started making waves.
Why would you call the truth “hate” , I don’t hate any motorcycle company , but 3% of the market since 1901 ?
Considering Indian's demise and rebirth, any improvement is a plus. And the market versus current sales are two different things. I'd like to buy a new bike but strapped for cash. It takes money from consumers to shift that. There's multiple layers to capitilism. The product is there. People just have to spend money on the product.
Mike Taylor that 1% has Matt laidlaw shaking.
No thnx
Looks like a fat road glide lol good thing it performs
Lol 🤣
Bob Hog it’s a thick girl and she knows how to work it a lot more than the rg from the trash club down the street lol
I think the headlight looks amazing.
Same.
Lucky you. Finally I am going to het my new Victory.
Oh?
Sure, Victory designed and patented this power plant several years ago to meet EU emission standards as the Freedom106 didn't cut it. The whole Chief/Chieftain line up right down to the fairing design was prototyped on the Touring Cruiser platform. They were discontinued in 2006. Somewhere on the UA-cams is a video showing the prototype. If you come across it post a link. I tried to find it again and couldn't, but it's out there. Look at the Victory design elements in the Challenger fairing, in the fuel tank. Those Vic engineers weren't terminated. they are busy designing Indians. Pretty much everything Indian has built to date was designed and patented years ago by Vic.
@@servicarrider I'll be on the lookout. Not something I haven't heard before, though.
Magnificent
You know it!
Sweet bike is it like a bigger scout or something new I just bought a roadmaster in March but like the numbers and the look. Power to weight the scout should be quicker but still dude.
Nah, definitely feels bigger than a Scout. The tank alone feels like it's in your lap. In a good way, though.
Nice, it sounds like my yamaha👍
Eluder?
My V Star 950 (nice quiet sound)
Indian should send out a call for motorcycle design entries from diehard indian fans, then take aspects from all entries or go with the entire entry of some of the fans. That'll make the haters stop saying indian is copying them. There is some major design talent out there. I wonder if people ever submit designs to Indian?
Oh, there are some big motorcycle riders on insta already tearing it apart and customizing. This engine and chassis is gonna be crazy.
Good ideas, though. They did that with the artist series for the FTR covers.
I want one myself!
Beautiful bike
I find the road glide from Harley much more attractive but you can't beat the Specs and Technology From the Indian Harley should definitely be worried
Agreed, they both offer different appeal!
How did this video get 25 things down??? I love this video!
Lol, you still watching? 🤣
