I have the SC301. A few things to note: 1. The Power button is a useless feature as it turns on as soon as you plug it in. 2. The left and right arrows have little utility as most options scroll up and down vertically. 3. When updating, the software will present you with 3-4 different files to choose from, but give you no indication as to which one to select. Therefore, the option to print data reports, read 02 sensor readings, and the larger screen, along with the 3 dummy lights, are the only advantages I can see. The only reason I selected the SC301 was because Amazon offered free shipping and a 5% coupon. I might also note that their Customer Service is non-existent. I messaged them a question about the proper procedure to update the firmware. When you click on Submit, nothing happens, no matter how many times you try.
@SimpleCarGuy Please reply. At 5:11 you say this code reader CAN scan the transmission here under this control module = A/T. Is that unique? Will this test the transmission where other cheap readers wont?? Wish you tested it! 🤔👍
Well done and great info. Would you know if the SC301 model supports BMW? I have a 2008 3 Series (335XI model) and looking for an inexpensive scanner to check if the car is ready with the monitors for NJ inspection for the emissions test. Thanks and well done. Phil

Great points about the scanner, thank you for adding info I didn't have in the video!

So which one is better? At the end you said more buttons bigger screen but you never said if the sc301 is better than sc204.
Thank you, very helpful. After you plug them in, do you turn the ignition on without starting the car or just start the car?
Glad it was helpful! You just turn on the ignition without starting.
@@SimpleCarGuy Thank you!!

I’m debating on getting the 30 one right now I’m trying to read transmission fluid temps on Toyota’s
Those cheap code readers are good for engines issues, they don’t monitor transmission from what I have seen and bought
My biggest issue with the SC204 is the super tiny screen! The graphing is almost unusable and selecting the items to monitor is a chore!
SC301 is slightly larger and easier to use, might be worth the upgrade
Does this scanner support transmission and SRS?
Is this able to perform an idle reset on a 2007 Chevy Tahoe? Also, does it clear stored codes so I can monitor to see if they come back?
Hopefully it's not like the battery analyzer they sell total junk, was out by more than one volt. Promptly sent it back.
What low cost obd scanner you recommend for checking automatic transmission fluid temperatures since I need it for a CX 5 fluid exchange
A NY answer
DOES IT CHECK TRANSMISSIONS.
I bought the bigger one off Amazon before watching the video. Looks like I chose wisely.
For it very much more $$ you get a better scanner, makes sense!
Can you upgrade this device with MacOS or online or do you have to be running windows on your PC?
😂😂😂😂
Good Stuff, Great Tips😃👍🏿
I am reading that the software that supports this won't work on Apple computers - is that correct?
Most of the good ones do not support CrApple.
Does it work for all cars model ?
Or which car doesn't work ?
Your car doesnt work😂
Can they read wheel speed sensors?
No, it cannot.
Do either of these check battery and alternator as well as transmission?
no, they do not.
