If you want a ukulele that will actually chug, check out the Risa electric ukuleles. They are actual solid body electric ukuleles with wound strings and actual pick ups. They're high quality ukes made in Germany styled after the most popular guitar styles, the Lp, Strat and the Tele.
Thanks, I've mentioned the Vorson, but couldn't remenber exactly what was Risa's name. I agree, dollar for dollar the more expensive Risa is a better brand in that it's better built out of the box. However, the cheaper Vorson isnt too bad either as long as ye no mind doing some setup mods (in my case, swapping the saddles to a narrower set).
Ola, you really seemed like you was seriously enjoying yourself playing that ukelele! I cracked up when you played Slayer and started giggling a little! Awesome 🤘🤘
The ukulele uses a GCEA reentrant tuning, where the first string, G, is tuned higher than the second string C. Now it's also common to tune the G lower than the C in the linear tuning. I have several ukuleles, most are in Hi-G, but I have a few that are tuned Lo-G or even DGBE. Love seeing the uke used in ways different from the traditional way. If ye wanna try chug an ukulele, try a solidbody electric ukulele! I have two that can chug, but ye don't have to take my word for it. Search and you'll find a few out there. The two I have are Vorsons, but they needed a few fixes to the incorrect setup they had out of the box (mainly a change to the narrower 10.2mm saddles). Once that was done they kick arses! EDIT: there's another brand called the Risa, it's more expensive, but also better made. Kind like comparing a BMW to a Hyundai. Well, both Risa and BMW are German, LOL.
You beat me to it on the tuning. :-) I had a Lanakai tenor uke that I put the low G string on to give it that "low G" sound, and that worked nicely. Then I discovered baritone ukuleles, and that's what I play now. Standard tuning for the baritone is DGBE. Same chord fingering, different chord. I built a solid body electric baritone uke, it's rather interesting with a bar magnet pickup...
@ 4:25 and onwards just convinced me that a ukelele through a hi-gain amp is essential if I ever want to make avant-garde metal. All that feedback and distortion sounded magnificent lmao
So now we need a Solar Metal Uke now. I like it icy. I can think of so many etherial sounding applications for this. Awesome. Ola signature Hot Uke pickups.
Really needed this video today! Must be one of the funniest videos in here, all while Ola giving his best ukulele metal lesson to us all! Brilliant! :)
Actually the band SUNN use these in the studio, they rock out at a normal speed recording at 30ips, then the tape op run the machine at 7.5ips and created total doom....well not really but I think something like that would work!
good choice in microphones and having the distant stereo mic made this very clear, keep up the good shit Ola, gaining huge amounts of respect for you the more you do your own thing, the more i will watch.........
I was at Rockville last year, there was a shred contest, 30 seconds to Shred. American Music was hosting, anyways the final contestants had to shred on a Ukulele, I dig the Pantera.
It's somewhat common on soprano ukes, but you don't need to tune it re-entrant tuning. You can restring it specifically to have that low-G an octave lower.
Here in Hawaii, my friend was in a band called "The B Team". They were a punk rock band with a drummer, U-Bassist, and a singer/steel string electric uke player. Lol
So funny... I saw one of those in a store with a friend... the store sales guy was like, want to play it... plug it in? It was a quick.. nah! But you of course... make it fun! The color is nice and it does look more cool than any other Uke! DEATH METAL CORE UKE BAND.. YEAH MAN! Oh wait... an EVH Tribute Uke band... I want one in a Black & White stripped version now! 😎🤘🎸🤪
Funny that I just checked this out because I was telling one of my coworkers today that I was planning on playing my Iceman uke through a Pitchfork pedal and a Morley wah. Nice demo of the possibilities.
Here the Uke was thinking it was going to live a life of playing Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars. then Ola Buys it and hooks it up to a Half stack and plays Raining Blood 😂 Easily one of my favorite videos now on the channel
That was super cool! However before that hard NO on ukuleles not chugging I'd still like to see you try a) down tuning the upper string b) toying with that tone knob a bit c) getting a solid body uke
*CLAP*
PALC
Lol it was picking up your voice 😂😂
BURP
PING
Chlamydia?
Admirable. Too often people run an endless cascade of pedals from their Ukulele into their amp. Good to see Ola go straight into the Marshall 🤣
Pretty sure this is more of an Uberschall uke, but this was healthy
its not a real uke unless it's got a whammy bar
Ola yelling into a uke is the content I subscribe for.
Indian music
I was a lead ukulele player in my death ska funk band growing up. I still don't know why we weren't huge anywhere other than our garage..
All jokes aside, that actually doesn’t sound horrible.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
You were in the Flaming Tsunamis?
because mostr people wqouldnt mix death with funk sadly

But why
@@AllofJudea Some people prefer ukuleles to standard scale length and string number guitars.
Yeah girls
Flight does solid bodies for a more reasonable price, if it's just a toy
It's always a blast trying out guitar riffs on non-guitar stringed instruments 😀
Usually they work great on cello and piano, for instance...
@@claudevieaul1465 yeah they work the best on a super saw.
Black sabbath riffs on standard tuned bass is a great example of this
In ukulele the top string is usually high G. You can replace it with low G and it will chug like hell.
Best Will It Chug yet! Even a fail is a win. The Slayer probably helped.
Ola: Wears clap shirt
Also Ola: claps to start
It's a good day when Ola gives you the clap 👏
Lol
Hahaha he's the Clapmaster
Came in to say this. Found my work already done. Leaving satisfied.

Gives us 2 rows of power 5 chords lol
Pissing myself laughing, Ola. I love how you find the awkward (in this case, the feedback thing) and just lean into it. Thanks for the laugh.
Easily Ola's funniest "WILL IT CHUG!".
Coincidentally, also his best playing.
TWO THUMBS UP!
I think I can speak for almost everyone when I say we're expecting some death metal ukelele on your next album, Ola.
Came for the chugs, stayed for Ola's rendition of I'm broken on a ukelele. One of the best videos ever
@ 4:25 and onwards just convinced me that a ukelele through a hi-gain amp is essential if I ever want to make avant-garde metal. All that feedback and distortion sounded magnificent lmao
Dude, I didnt know the chug was so old. Your knowledge is amazing.
So now we need a Solar Metal Uke now. I like it icy. I can think of so many etherial sounding applications for this.
Awesome. Ola signature Hot Uke pickups.
You need one of the Dean ML ukuleles. Bought one for my mom as a gag gift....she loves it and plays it all the time.
"We tuned it down, played some slayer, and at the end of the day that's all that matters"
Truely words to live by
4:27 for some epic black metal vocals
trve enough
That’s the effect Maynard uses. I’ve seen Tool live and he busts out a shitty ukulele and sings into it. Good times.
Really needed this video today! Must be one of the funniest videos in here, all while Ola giving his best ukulele metal lesson to us all! Brilliant! :)
Recommendation: if there is such a thing as an electric shamisen, please feature one in the Will It Chug? series, that will be real fun!!!! 🤣
Actually the band SUNN use these in the studio, they rock out at a normal speed recording at 30ips, then the tape op run the machine at 7.5ips and created total doom....well not really but I think something like that would work!
"We tuned it down, played some Slayer, that's what matters, Man..." f'in right... why I ❤ Ola
I've put my telecaster ukulele (or telelele for short) through drop pedal and metal zone and recorded melodic black metal song with it xD
It chugged as a vocal mic! Gallant effort, sir!
I totally expected a burp into the ukulele pickup lol
That was fantastic. Never heard someone make one of those sound metal. Awesome
OMG!!! Ola you have one the internet! This is the best thing I will see all day!
5:22 Now I know what Slayer sounds like on an old printer from 1992
Sounded way cooler then I would have expected tbh
I actually really love that sound, it’s so cool. Metal uke is an underutilized instrument
good choice in microphones and having the distant stereo mic made this very clear, keep up the good shit Ola, gaining huge amounts of respect for you the more you do your own thing, the more i will watch.........
I need one of those pickups on my Mustang. That's what I've been missing all these years. Thanks Ola
This is brilliant! Hugely entertaining. Thank you.
This is your best video of all time
The hero that the world needs and which apparently does not deserve is Ola who make ukulle chugs. Please don't give up, world needs you on this.
The riff at 2:48 is killer. Ola can make anything sound badass
I was at Rockville last year, there was a shred contest, 30 seconds to Shred. American Music was hosting, anyways the final contestants had to shred on a Ukulele, I dig the Pantera.
That’s a sick lead tone
0:16 I was fully expecting to hear the normal "CHUGGGG CHUGGGG CHUGGGG" sound clip you usually use.
This did NOT disappoint! 😂
Okay, that...was...HILARIOUS.Made my day so much better :D
This has just made my morning 🤘
It's somewhat common on soprano ukes, but you don't need to tune it re-entrant tuning. You can restring it specifically to have that low-G an octave lower.
4:35 the best part of the video😂
bought this same uke for my daughter last year, she loves it
Man, when you tuned that down with the Whammy, it ended up sounding like a cello going through the distortion channel!
Here in Hawaii, my friend was in a band called "The B Team". They were a punk rock band with a drummer, U-Bassist, and a singer/steel string electric uke player. Lol
Didnt think it would sound so good. Maybe its just Ola.
Probably the best will it chug video, period
without a doubt.... the heaviest and most entertaining video i have ever watched in my fucking life...
So funny... I saw one of those in a store with a friend... the store sales guy was like, want to play it... plug it in? It was a quick.. nah! But you of course... make it fun! It doesn't matter that the ukelole doesn't chug when you lie on the floor laughing because Ola yells into the ukele and it's just beautiful madness.
I unironically like the sound of the distorted ukelele. it doesn't sound metal but it sounds really good for rock
matching headstock extra cool.
Glorious. This is the kind of thing I come here for.
lmfao!! that was killer! man u got that right hand blistering metal love tha shred bro!!
Ola Always good for a Morning Laugh
Funny that I just checked this out because I was telling one of my coworkers today that I was planning on playing my Iceman uke through a Pitchfork pedal and a Morley wah. Nice demo of the possibilities.
Fuck i love that you played preachers of death, i want to hear that song on every instrument
I have the blonde tele one. I hook it up to my big amp and 4x12's all the time! It's fun and I love the neck.
Here the Uke was thinking it was going to live a life of playing Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars. then Ola Buys it and hooks it up to a Half stack and plays Raining Blood 😂 Easily one of my favorite videos now on the channel
Pantera on a Ukulele.....My life is complete! XD Love ya Ola!!
Who but Ola could rock out on a Ukulele
This is my favorite one so far.
Ola....hilarious man! Thanks for the great video!
You play that little thingy great bro!
I knew I had to check this out when you did a will it chug version with a ukulele.
The need is for someone to accompany you on a toy piano. The results would be an entirely new metal genre. Bravo
i think you mean keyboard as piano wouldnt get the distiortion or gain
Speed picking at 3:00 was awesome and hilarious all at once.
I'm proudly wearing my Chug Life shirt tonight..lets see what happens..chug, around here, has multiple meanings!
Rig for next feared album confirmed !
Your sense of humor kills me bro!
Ola is the best, one of my favorite follows to this day
Gotta say, that's the best sounding Uke I've ever heard! lol
I'm impressed by the simple fact that this video is over 7 minutes long. 🤘
This was incredible. A+
3:53 for epic TOOL - Intro
4:24 Awesome Michael Winslow impression. Yes, I’m old. 😆
Ok now I kind of want to see some metal band just randomly pull out a ukulele in the middle of the song and start soloing on it 😂
Oh my god, I’m dying. 😂 Your best work yet. 🤣
god i LOVE cabs with speakers! best kind imho
Best looking ukulele shape ever
@4:32 ...your welcome for the amazing time stamp...
I've got the same uke. So much fun to play. And yes gotta run distortion thru it. It chugs🤘
I had an ex gf that played uke and played metal songs on it acoustically, that was always fun she played raining blood too
2:48 Sounded like the intro for Michael Knight series, with the car Kit, whatever it was called
Will it chug? - Nyckelharpa. That's the episode I'm looking forward to.
This is hilarious. Ola you have me cracking up
That was super cool! However before that hard NO on ukuleles not chugging I'd still like to see you try
a) down tuning the upper string
b) toying with that tone knob a bit
c) getting a solid body uke
Awesome job man!
Rob Scallon can attest for ukeleles being metal AF
Sunday Uke Group is the best thing ever

very professional review of a very professional piece of gear 10/10
jesus christ what a masterpiece of a video
When I woke up this morning I can certainly tell you I did not expect to see gallops on a ukulele. Today was a good day. Thank you.
I absolutely LOVE that you ran a ukulele through a DSL20.
Maybe not a full chug, but definitely a uke-chug!
I would recommend going with a solid body electric tenor ukulele and replace the high G with a low G. I think you'll get the results you wanted.
That sound cool AF, wow! 😊
