I love this idea, and I think the attic shelf would be perfect for storing the thermal window coverings and screens. They are light and this would keep them flat, but convenient
Hey Debbie,
That’s what I do too I’m glad you liked the idea.
Cheers
Just had another thought. A cheap bungee cargo net would work nicely on that bottom shelf! Load it up and secure it all down! 👍🏻
Eric, Brilliant tip! Thank you. Cheers.
You could even use it as a platform for a fire extinguisher medical gear recovery gear etc. and it’s out-of-the-way and easy to access
Hey Jesse, Brilliant! Mind you I’d recommend bringing down the recovery gear to be kept near you when actually on the trail, for ease of access. Cheers.
This is awesome DIY. You definitely earned a subscriber.
Hey CTR_1 6 0,
Awesome! 😀
Thank you!
Cheers
Smart!! Wire shelving on top is awesome!! Useful on drying up things!! Thank you.
Hey Tor Ontoraptors,
You are welcome. It works great too. I'm super happy with how it's turned out. I ended up changing out using the bolt and wing nut to release the shelf to swing it down. I ended up getting two 5/16" clevis pins,(amzn.to/3yAazPb) as they work just as well and are quicker to pull out. I was concerned about rattling, but it's good. I'll have a quick feature of them in next week's video, in the TIPS segment. I updated the link to the clevis pins in the description section of the video. I hope it helps. Cheers.
I'd put extra food stuff; ii.e. bread, rolls, pastries, or even condiments in large plastic containers.
That would make for a delicious trip. Thanks for the tips.
Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Like the idea of it swinging down.
Hey Wendy, Thanks. I’m liking it too. I ended up getting Clevis pins as I found they worked better than bolts with wing nuts. I’ll have to show it better in a future video. I totally plan to store some things up there on an upcoming camping video. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
Great idea. To make use of all the available space. I have the DirtyDog full cargo net set and offer stuff cloths and light stuff on top of the net between the net and hardtop or softtop.
Good job Bud.
Hey Jeff, Thanks! Cheers.
Very clever! Thanks for sharing.
Hey Randy, Thank you for the feedback. Cheers.
Clever idea! And super useful! I plan on a similar idea... Just an attic shelf that can swing up out of the way, but level (2 pivot points)
Hey Eric, Awesome! I'm very happy with how well it uses that space up under the top, and is completely out of the way. Cheers.
Hello cheaper keeper tv ! I am a new subscriber and your set up is great, but I’m concern about that wood shelf as far as a not paying attention driver behind you crashing on you and I can just imagine that thick wood hitting both of you on the your heads, GOD forbid…….just saying! From a concern viewer…..
Thx, dale
Hey Lynn,
Thank you so much for your concern. I'll look at what I can do to make things more secure, but I also imagine that whenever I load up my rig for travelling, all that extra gear will be a liability in the unfortunate event of a collision. However, you do have me thinking about making a safety related video about this. Once again, thank you for sharing your concern, and thanks for subscribing too😄
Cheers
Oooooooops! I meant jeeper
😆
Can't do that on my 2007 jku..bummer
Hey David, Next time I get a chance to check out my buddy's 2007, I'll check it out to see what holes are there. Cheers.

@@roofrat68 Will do. On a trip, so in a couple weeks I'll message back here. Cheers.
