I'm so glad that you making this video because I planned to go to Jeep Camping weekend this summer and this helps me a lot get some ideas to build my own sleep platform in my 2008 JKU Sahara. Looking forward to part 2 video and thank you for making awesome content.
Thanks genius! This is good stuff and I'm going to incorporate it into my JLU. It's so nice to be able to haul friends along, yet be able to hit the sack after a long day on the trail. I'm through Parts 1 & 2, now on to Part 3. I'm not a large or heavy person and I'm thinking even 1/2" plywood might be adequate for my weight. Thanks for all your good ideas!

Yeah I've a JLU as well. I will be measuring tomorrow to see the new dimensions. I will post here if you want. The only thing I'm concerned about is I'm 6'4" 235 lbs. I already know it will be a tight fit but we'll have to see. Thanks again for this post though.
I got a deep sleep air mattress and have not been happier camping in my jk. My wife, kid, and I fit with all our gear in saddle bags or back packs moved up front.
Great job and extremely useful! I'm planning to do something similar, based on your design. Will be taller to allow drawers underneath, and the fridge, and all will be folded as to save up space when put in the garage. Thanks!

New subscriber here. Sorry if this was explained before, but what year is this platfrom designed for. I've got a 2020 JLU and would like to make this platform, will your drawings work? Thank you!
Hi, It will work in any JL I believe, unless if it's the 4Xe, as I don't know where the battery is located and if it affects the seat positioning. Also, it works in JKs as well. I have a video that explains that with some important details. Your 2020 JLU should present no issues as far as using the drawings is concerned. Hey TheMxPenguin, That’s a great question! I’m on the road for a camping trip with my JL at the moment, when I get back, I’ll check. Hm…could be a good video. 😏Cheers.
Cheaper Jeeper, Love your videos and would like to know what you think about combining your platform bed unit with your kitchen chuck box so that the kitchen box can be stored under the the bed in the back of the Wrangler? Perhaps by making the bed +/- 2" taller and the kitchen box +/- 2" shorter? Not owning a 4 door Wrangler (I own a 2002 built Wrangler 2 dr.) I simply don't know if there will be enough head room to sit up after these adjustments?
Hey David, I am able to sit up with my design, but I’m not a big guy. Lowering the height would make sitting up even easier for talker folks. What you suggest is possible. I thought of it but didn’t have time to test out other options. I was considering sitting it in top of the DIY cargo shelf to use it in the Jeep during bad weather, but likely won’t. I may do a video in a micro coffee chuck box for inside the Jeep if I’m caught in bad weather and wanted to make a coffee. Lol. Thanks for the feedback. Oh...are you planning to set up something to sleep in your 2 door?
This is exactly what i've been trying to figure out how to do. Would your sketch up and measurements fit a JKU '13 (4 door obviously) or would your recommend measuring myself and using your sketch as a starting place?
Hey Sarah, there are some slight differences between the JKU and my JLU, so I would recommend checking the measurements. The 9 inch height of the cargo legs means that the cargo platform has to be a certain length to touch against the back of the back seat, and that might be a difference for you, and then the distance between there and the back of the front seats might be different. Also, the width of the cargo area may be different. Have fun, and thanks for watching the video.
