First of all, this dude is crazy educated when it comes to boxing. Second, he's cool af. It's awesome to be able to come to a place like youtube and talk to a guy like this, even in the comment section. Total legend.

I've tried a bunch of different ways to wrap my hands and this is, by far, my favorite. I've switched to this method almost exclusively

@@Tony_Jeffries I can’t seem to understand this I don’t know why, are you able to make another video on this? Perhaps an updated one?

@@Tony_Jeffries i tried it today in boxing!! Amazing!! ❤
what makes this handwrap better?
I’m 48 years old and always wanted to box but never made the commitment to really work at it. The content guys like you put out is priceless and most appreciated. Guys like you help guys like me and others to be more proficient, THANK YOU!
Same here - and at 48 a world champion boxer (Ranked No. 3) told me I should take it up. This was the fourth time I was recommended - since the age of 16. Now, almost 60, I have taken it up - and real glad to see this about wrapping my hands.
bro get to it im 17 i wanted to box for a while got a few punching bags and just finally said fuck it and got in the Boxing gym a couple days ago and im very grateful
Do u wanna box in like actual fights professional or just for yourself to work and get better for ur health ?
I'm forty and just started and I can't describe how awesome it is. Plus my son really likes it too and I've been looking for something for us to do together. Never too late to start 👍 my mother is 62 years old and I talked her into it and she's signed up for boxing lessons now.
I'm 48, start boxing today, don't wait, it's a lot of fun and you will make youre dream come true
😉
Thanks so much for this video !! 🙏🏻🙏🏻 It's not just a demo video, it's full of tips, how and most importantly WHY to wrap in such a way more than any other !! 👏🏻👏🏻
A video about all the necessary stretching before training independently would be great. I've injured myself a couple of times because I forgot to do 1 specific stretch that I didn't remember. It seemed insignificant at the time, but every stretch my coach made me do had a particular purpose.
Explain some please 🖤
@@Lil_vara Stretching? A lot of very painful injuries are because your muscles and tendons are not prepared for the movement they make. It's not a big problem when you are young, but with time a proper warm up is really crucial to safe and (relatively) painless workout :) Trust me, i'm over 40 and had a few strained muscles in my life;) One of the worst was in my neck :D You then begin to realise how much you turn your head around all day, hehehehe.
@Valerie Coton MOBILITY ROUTINE
@@ogi22 thanks bro 🙌
@@Lil_vara also, don’t do static stretching before a workout. Because during workouts muscles are contracting. But if you do a static stretch before a workout you are stretching and breaking muscles. So when you start working out your muscles won’t be ready to go from static to dynamic movements and thus lead to strains.
This is actually how they would wrap my hands when I was a teenager and I have been looking for a video for how to do it. The most noticeable thing was the padded knuckles and open palm which just feels great and secure. Thank you for posting this video! Glad I didn't need it years ago because I would have been confused with the other wrapping videos wondering why it wasn't like this video's.
From the bottle of my heart, THANK YOU! Boxning is the only training i like and some of my knuckles is trashed after som bad decisions as a youth. I can train again thanks to you! I've learned alot from your videos so thanks for everything!
Would be great if you could do a wrap video POV style. I’m just getting into boxing and it’s been kind of hard learning how to hold the wraps, what fingers to use to hold the loop, how you wrapped around the knuckles, etc… for whatever reason the wraps are just very awkward for some of us. Really need a “how to wrap for dummies.”
that's the only knock I have on this video the camera angle
Just use your intuition
The use of intuition is a flawed solution. People who are very new to this have not yet developed the intuition used to tell what is right or wrong effectively, leading to overlooked mistakes and bad habits formed.
We need to be taught the correct and effective method so we know what a good wrap looks and feels like. Proceeding with something new on your own is how bad habits are made, preventable injuries that do not teach us are inflicted, and time is spent unnecessarily trying to form an experience base, when you could have used that time developing skills that take a lot of practice instead of skills that can be taught.
Finally got around to wrapping my hands like this, feels loads better after years of wrapping around my palm and ending up with loads of padding in the palm. Great content Tony! 🥊
After 30+ years of wrapping my hands, I have finally learned the right way to wrap them. THANK YOU Tony!🙏
And BTW, the rest of your videos are changing the way I approach training and sparring. Fan-TASTIC coaching!
Glad you love it Evan.
Do you box for sport or fitness?
I fought competitively in US national and world competition in amateur full contact Ju-Jitsu, but that was many.years ago. During that time, I did a lot of boxing as well, but not anything sanctioned. I now box for fitness and love bangin in the ring for fun here in Cambodia. Thanks for your fantastic and informative videos! 🙂🙏💪
This is exactly what I needed to see, I just turned 38 and I recently got into boxing for health and fitness, I'm hoping to go into a boxing gym to train and maybe get into some sparring, not looking for game or money, it's just something I want to do for pure fun. My only regret is that I didn't get into this when I was younger. But boxing is so much fun. I just love it and respect it. Thank you for your awesome videos
@@battlefox8460Did you keep up with it?
How has it been? Any advice for me, I'm considering starting boxing myself as an old man of 41, obviously just for fun and exercise.
I've tried wrapping my hands in multiple ways before but kept getting hands or fingers aches over time. This method is the one. No more painful hands\fingers since I've been using this method. Thanks Tony !
This is honestly fantastic as well as easy as hell to follow. You really are the man Tony, please please keep rhe videos coming.
You really are amazing and great tip on the hand wraps. I'm in my 50s and just getting into boxing as an exercise but I love it so much. Wish I started it when I was in my teens. Keep the videos coming. They're great 👍
Thanks man! Best method
Tony, you are a master at teaching useful things concisely. Your enthusiasm and energy is motivating.
Thank you for creating incredible content.
Thank you mate, means a lot
I've gone through a bunch of hands wrapping videos and this one got the best instructions by far. Thank you Tony
This handwrap instruction makes more sense and feels simpler than other handwrap videos where they do an X with the wrap and a bunch of stuff this one just makes more sense to me thank you!
Thanks for this! Feels so much better than how I was wrapping in the past.
Way more comfortable than the way I was doing it. Thank you.
Glad to know my coach taught me the best way there is. Been wrapping my hands this way for around 6 years now, never used any other method.
Thanks, I've watched 10 or 15 handwrap videos. Yours is the one that made most sense to me. So I subscribed. You are very good at explaining with reasons and detail.
Thanks Kirk
You should do a video of the different weights of gloves, pros and cons and what you used! Excellent boxing demos keep up the content!
That’s exactly what I was doing, wrapping my hands too much around and leaving a very bulky cushion underneath my palm that kept me from clinching my fist and even hurt at times, it’s like you read our minds Tony, now I know, respect from 🇲🇽 my man.
I just started boxing and you my guy is the best teacher out on UA-cam! Cheers mate!
I'm hooked on this guy's advice.

So worth subscribing without a doubt!!!
Great video Tony. I would love to see a video on diets for boxers, what did you do when training, when cutting weight, fight week, dieting but having enough energy for train etc.
Just binge-watched a load of your videos, as I'm just starting out in boxing (at 44!). They're really useful, and I will be using your drills in the gym. It's nice to watch videos from someone who clearly knows what they're doing! Cheers
Welcome aboard Philip! Good luck mate - you can do it.. Age is just a number
@@Tony_Jeffriesin some regards yes but I’m others no😂
I'm forty years old and I just recently started boxing with my 13 year old son, it's the most fun I've had in years. I still don't really know what I'm doing so people like you making videos like this is just... really awesome. I can't tell you how much starting to do this has changed my life for the better, and it might sound sappy but you doing what you do helps people like me more than you might know. Being able to pay for training isn't really in my grasp at the moment (I could barely afford a pair of gloves and a jump rope 😂). Just wanted to say thank you for doing this 👍
I love how you make a pad out of yhe wrap itself instead of using aftermarket pad inserts. This just saved me money. I also use open palm style wrapping, but I hadn't thought about making a pad out of the wraps themselves. Genius.
Just got my heavy bag, gloves and wraps delivered today 🙌 💪
Thanks for helping a beginner start the right way!
Try this mate! Viewers love this handwrap
I think a stretch video for your shoulders and so on and so forth before you start boxing is an awesome video to make. Or at least the best way to warm up to prevent injuries
Tony, this is literally what the Dr. ordered! I am ancient (60 in 1 month) and I use vibrating tools at work. My hands are always a bit swollen and they wake me up with numbness in the night. My wrists, particularly the right, being right-handed, is a weak point. I have incredible hand strength but no grip! I have a hard time wrapping anymore having lost a lot of fine motor skill and stopped, using gloves only. I always thought I was losing some protection, but fighting with the wraps when training time is limited. By the time I get situated I either have to cut some other important part of my routine or speed through everything. Your method can be used even with my fumbling fingers! Thanks again for the great inspiration.
Mr. Jeffries. I've been wrapping my hands wrong this whole time. I put your video on .50x and.75x speed, replayed couple parts and after I finished the tutorial I was astonished of how it looks and feels. super pro. I only wrapped my right hand following the tutorial but I can feel the power. My hand feels more free and less constricted, feels more protected on my wrist. I can feel the hardness of the knuckles through the wraps more too. I can feel my fist is a tighter fist and absolutely more fitting to the form of my fist. It also feels like my fist is a bit lighter. It really does feel like I can punch through a brick wall. Thank you Tony Jeffries.
Read my mind Tony. This is exactly the info I was looking for!
Thank you again Tony. Great information. This looks very efficient with extremely good points to maximize protection, security, and power output into the wraps helping your punches
Glad you enjoyed it mate
@@Tony_Jeffries thank you
You're the king! Thank you so much Tony! I've done it in dozen ways....but you're right, THIS is the best way! Thanks!
I just tried this out and I have to say, this guy is a F-ing legend. Best wrap technique I've ever used. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
Great video coach!
I'd love to see a video on gear recommendations. Who makes quality wraps? Who has your favourite brand of focus mitts to hit and also train people with, etc.
This has actually changed the game. Thank you mate, would be good to get some rounds in with you some day.
You sure ?
Seems that you re a begginer. Dont ever challenge boxers to have sparring with you especially now you re a starter. It offends them (i am a boxer too)and if somebody accepts your challenge, he will brake your ribs
@@JOHNNYGOX asking for training doesn't always mean sparring. It could be asking for padwork or any 1 to 1 training. Don't make assumptions over the internet pal.
@@Cuttingseason You are a starter thats why you think like that so i dont misjudge you. When years pass away and you still train in boxing you will understand the meaning of my 1st answer
@@JOHNNYGOX maybe in your part of the world where everyone is egotistical, but in our neck of the woods if you get offered some training it's a compliment. 15 years training so far so by no means a "starter" thanks!
I agree. This is the best way to wrap my own hands. Adding the tape is a game changer. Thanks Tony!
Thank you Tony. That's the best video on wrapping hands
Best method I've tried so far. It holds strong after a warm up, heavy bad training and a cool down session. The padding on the knuckles is on point, I hated my previous methods where the palm was unnecessarily stuffed
My training is usually bad too :-(
Could you make a video on a workout for the double end bag please?! I see a lot of videos on youtube about them but I would appreciate if I got expert advice!!

So happy for this, since I always had trouble wrapping my hands with boxing wrap when I started boxing
Thanks mate I’ve started wrapping my hands like this and it’s taken away all the wrist and hand pain that I used to have great video btw 🥊👍
Thank you! I've been through couple of bad trainers so I decided to just learn on my own. I came across your videos about a month or so ago and you have helped me tremendously. I fight in September for the first time and I most definitely need your shared experience and knowledge.
How’d you go?
He truly is a professional boxer. And a good teacher
So you have a few shit trainers and you have a fight?

Great video, thanks champ! One thing that took me a while to notice is that the third time you pinch the wrap through the knuckles it goes in the other direction! First two times between index finger and thumb, last one through back of the hand! It took me a while to realise this but now I can really feel I can punch a brick wall!!
I cannot fathom how much pain and injury this man has prevented by sharing his world class expertise. Tony, Thank You for Sharing.

Next video should be testing your hypothesis and putting your right hand thru a brick wall. 😂
Awesome hand wrapping video.
I'm very impressed with your hand wrapping method. I've watched the entire video 3-4 times and rewound portions of it many times. Is there any way that you show a closeup of just your hands while doing the wrapping slowly? Although I haven't been able to do your method correctly, I have done the knuckle wrapping portion successfully and it has almost completely eliminated the discomfort I feel when I practice on the body bag. I just haven't been able to get finger and thumb wrapping portions correctly.
Slow the video to 0.5x speed
This feels amazing, thanks! I had a coach I worked with once that wrapped my hands like this a few years ago, glad I found this video to replicate it
Thank you for offering up so much knowledge in your videos! They are so well done, and no doubt - your accomplishments speak for themselves. Thanks, again!

I would like this as well. Although, a good way is to move side to side while having your guard up. Also, my coach told me to jab jab jab, get your jabs in so he won't keep advancing/being aggressive. Cheers
