Hi Marcel thanks for the comment its been a few trips since you added It was a lovely day we had a BBQ at lunch and a beer the I got home I am looking forward to my next trip Tight lines Cheers Iain 🥃
Almost all the fish I hook get into the head shaking at some point and that's when so many get off. We're 100% barbless here and we lose a fair percentage. Some say there's no difference in holding a fish with or without barbs but my experience is that it makes quite a difference. Lovely video with some real excitement. I enjoyed the sounds as well as the sights and your commentary makes it even more enjoyable. Thank you once more Iain.
Thank you Stevie for your understanding comment . a lot of the time I am looking around when the camera is pointing down stream and later when I try editing I never find things I remember seeing and have others I have missed while looking around . We are lucky that there is so much to see when we go fishing and most days at the river disappear in a flash thanks again. Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Chris I hope that you are working hard and also getting time to fish I will need to spend a bit more time fishing with the PaD AA and hope to see you soon. tight lines Cheers Iain.🥃
Its the first time I had fished that beat Simon I was just going through the motions when the fish took and I am not sure who got the biggest surprise I was possibly still half asleep Cheers Iain. 🥃
@@IainSB Yes the going through the motions...similar experience on a bright clear July morning this year on a new beat..Eden Lacy..well upstream on the Eden ...not expecting a sharp nip to a small Irish pattern shrimp fly and then a surge....a bright new fish that shocked and woke me up...I was half dazzled facing the 8 am sun....said fish parted company some minutes later!!...3rd in a row spring / summer fish lost ...and we dont see many of them south of the Border
Thanks Stevie It was an early start but well worth it . if you want to catch up with missed videos type into your search engine UA-cam Iain SB uploads .... there are bound to be a few others that will keep you going until you get out Cheers Iain. 🥃
That's more like it Iain, love the early start, increases the chances of a hook up I feel, unlucky to lose the fish, but the excitement of the take is worth a lot, hopefully next one will stay connected, great video, looks a lovely beat that, tight lines and stay safe.🎣🎣
Thanks Shaun You are right its the excitement of the take and its no bad thing that it got off. it saves handling the fish and hopefully it will go on to help with our future stock . all the very best keep your rod bent. Cheers Iain 🥃
Thanks Mike we have a lot of days that we enjoy without catching . to catch a fish is a bonus but to have a fish take is the next best thing . The beeping noise was not of swearing just a couple of noises that come out without to much effort Like Arnold ill be back Cheers Iain 🥃
Lovely bit of water, my son and I fished it in early May, it had a bit more water on then and he had a 10lb & f 15lb fish. Bigger fish came just where you hooked yours. Nice video Iain
It has been a long time since I fished the Upper Tay I saw your video at Bolfracks ...... The salmon run the river and some of the best beats are ignored I will need to get up early again sometime soon Cheers Iain 🥃
That was another great day at the river John my mate Russ said we had to be at the river early to catch any fish with the water being low . I could have lay in bed for another couple of hours and still maybe have hooked that fish. I think that a small shoal of fish went through and I managed to get the fly in the right place . I would have loved to have seen how big it was Cheers Iain. 🥃
Beautiful morning Iain... early bird almost got the worm... that was an angry fish... those head shakes are awful! 😬 If a fish is doing that all the time you get that sinking feeling! Lovely water though! Cheers James 🥃
Thanks James The head shake was quite violent and I am sure with the effort it put in it deserved to get off . the sinking feeling soon disappears when we are at the side of a river . can you think of anywhere other than at the riverside that you can relax so quickly Cheers Iain 🥃
I haven't had the best start to the season but I can still remember what a big fish feels like A well it least it wasn't handled and is safely back swimming around Cheers Iain 🥃
the first line that I was using seems to load the rod better for long casts Paul but short ones are better suited to the scandi short head . I enjoyed my day but fell asleep in the seat after I had my dinner I think that is the worst thing about getting up at unearthly hours ......//. I will do it all again hopefully sometime soon Cheers Iain 🥃
I think that it's a struggle for most anglers this year Bob but we have to get out there and enjoy ourselves Just imagine having to play golf Cheers Iain. 🥃
Life can be cruel but given time all is healed 10minuets later I was looking to hook another ...... the water was so clear and so warm I thought about getting my waders off and going for a swim I believe that we are going to get rain at the end of the month it may bring in some fresh fish Cheers Iain 🥃
O dear Iain I don’t know what to say as I was in the kitchen getting a wine for me and Sharon and she shouted out he’s got one on, I ran in and seen you playing it and thought that’s a nice fish then with all that head shaking it was off, absolutely gutted for you Iain you can’t be far off getting one now. Cheers Iain. 🍷 steve.
I hope that they were large glasses of wine ....... It was that warm I needed ice in mine when I arrived home The fish is safe never handled and hopefully it will avoid getting hooked again and go on to help with our next generation of big salmon Steve . all the very best I hope that Sharon and yourself have a Holliday arranged that suits both of you (at The side of a river 😉) Cheers Iain 🥃
It was a most enjoyable day I went home tired and there is nothing better than falling asleep thinking of the fish that fell of and how big it could have been Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi again Philip Russ is a fiend and he and invited me to join him on his day trip. He knows the beat well and kept me right with pointing me to the best places . It's good to have mates that look after you Cheers Iain. 🥃
You just can't beat the scream of that reel! It was a real head shaker and it was good to see the line tighten at last! Beautiful day, too nice maybe but the brownies seemed to enjoy it. Needs a good down pour to stir things up!
usually the single hooks have a good grip Mr Mazo but not this time . The brownies need to set an example and show the salmon how it's done. I think that the weather is to return to normality by the last week in June ........ It will save washing the car Cheers Iain 🥃
Thanks Brian I never swore once It was just noises that never sounded. right ..... it's strange how we go through spells of not catching or loosing fish and we begin to think that it's something that we can control....... we have it all wrong the salmon always have the last word in our endeavours next time if the salmon are willing 😉. Cheers Iain 🥃
Most beats have a lot of slack water James we had a lot of rain early on this year and then it all dried up the steamy water is to thin to hold fish and the deep pools are holding fish with their heads pointing down ........ It's just luck if we find a running fish that stops for a minute ...... and that's why we go fishing tight lines. Cheers Iain 🥃
No Mike I have always used hooks with a barb they are very small and easy to remove and don't normally fall out head shakers definitely loosen the fly I would have loved to have seen it ..... but I am glad that it got away without being handled Cheers Iain 🥃
I very seldom cary a net and never a gaff I enjoyed hooking but never swore when the fish fell off as we get older we have some noises that are uncontrollable when we get exited and it sounded better with a toot looking forward to next trip but know it will be a struggle until we get rain Cheers Iain 🥃
It was a great day with good company Russ and myself went up to the next beat at lunch time and met up with Jaz and he had the BBQ going ......... a nice relaxing time it's a shame we could only manage soft drinks .. As you say next time ..... it's like being back at school must try harder 😀. Cheers Iain 🥃
Russ that invited me to fish told me that he was on East Haugh last week Mike and saw 24 salmon but never hooked up ... I think the way conditions are its right place at the right time......... I seem to have been the right place at the wrong time but still having fun and enjoying good company Cheers Iain 🥃
Just wonderful at 4:00 min Iain! Lovely day and nice weather, what more do you need.😊
Greetings,

@@IainSB Yes been a tough year everywhere if grilse run is the same would be concerning, however there are a few showing in the northern rivers now.
Nice to get the take Iain ,that 2nd line seems better suited to that rod .Tightlines 👍

Nice video Iain - bad luck losing that fish - sounded like quite a good one! The guy fishing at the end of the video - is he the ghillie?

I swore at exactly the same moment that you put the bleep in…
There will be no swearing in the next video Stephen I hope to have finished editing it for tomorrow ....... Just a big smile 😀
Cheers Iain 🥃
I'm certain you gave that first fish enough slack for it to slip the hook.
Im a bit out of practice John I haven't had the chance to play many fish this year Cheers Iain 🥃
Fresh run fish that don't want to do much other than shake their head are always the heart breakers but still better to have a bit of fun playing
It was a good day out having a fish on for a short time makes it better than a lot of days recently . I think I must need more practise Cheers Iain. 🥃
Well Iain I have to say I gave that salmon a few wrong words for leaving your line myself, You really deserve one…. Better luck 🍀 next time eh

Getting closer mate , not worth a tear as you didn’t see it or drop it at your feet like I’ve done because I was always anti net and gaff
