I have only fished at Blairgowrie a couple of times and hopefully ill get back again next year lovely water and great angling club I enjoy your videos. keep them coming. Cheers Iain. 🥃
@@IainSB You might recognise one of my videos, the springer I got on the isla is literally the pool below where the Ericht joins. The next day I got flooded off the Isla and went on the Ericht
Well Ian the birds are singing the river is whispering to you the odd fish splashing on a beautiful river. What a way to spend a day. Most enjoyable video thank you.
It was a most enjoyable day Paddy we dream about days at the river throughout the winter and if there was going to be a perfect day that we would dream about This would be it Cheers Iain. 🥃
Lovely video as always Ian , nice to actually cast to some moving fish for a change . Nothing better than when you know the flies going over where a fish showed or even better a set of shoulders rolling infront of it , love your videos mate great sounds and colours
Thanks James There were a few decent sized fish in. the pools but I think they had moved in from Islamouth where they had seen everything that the tackle shops could supply to anglers Cheers Iain 🥃
It's the first time fishing on the Ericht. it has some terrific pools and I may have to edit my next trip on the upper beat. it has lovely pools and I can highly recommend a day there when there is a bit of water Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great video looked very fishy shame the fish didn't play the game. The pool you were fishing around 9 minutes in reminds me of the bottom end of what they call beat 3 on the Beauly Angling club water. Hopefully we can try and arrange a cast at some point this year. Tight lines for the next trip.
What a lovely wee river! Pity the fish were refusing to play ball! May have been worth trying a hitch or something different. Great video account as always. Thanks
I must admit I get stuck in a grove sometimes . Jazz had tried a few different tactics and saw less fish and ended up with the same result . I don't think he tried a hitch. but had a surface collie dog on for a while . Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hi Iain, this looks a good water at a good level & nice to see salmon making themselves evident in the water. Just goes to show fishing is never that easy! But the joy of fishing is constant. Nick from York
It is good to see fish Nick sometimes we fish and know that there should be fish in the pools and we are covering them and expect a take at anytime. when we find water that we know that there are fish in the pools and they just splash about the anticipation is so great but the fish always have the last say in whether we catch or not Cheers Iain. 🥃
I have fished a few pools this year without seeing a fish Nick and it was great to see so many fish. I know that I had disturbed a few with my fly and was ever hopeful that one might take . I never went home disappointed. I was glad to see that there was so many fish in the pools and looked forward to having another cast or two on the river Ericht . Cheers Iain. 🥃
The pools you were fishing are called Flats , Concretes , Chapmans and the pipe pool in order going down the river. Chapmans so called because Alan Chapman form the the farm used to walk across the field and pull out dozens of fish back in the day . The Eright is a spate river so you got it on a good day when the fish were running fast , it is better the next day when it has dropped a few more inches and the fish slow down . You can use lighter gear and smaller flies then and simple patterns , yellow and red or cascades work . Today I fished it on 5 inches water but nothing showing . We had a good run of grilse 10 days ago . Good vid tho .
you have probably gathered that the names of pools don't stick in my brain Tim, it helps when there are interesting facts about pools and I will remember that one called Chapmans. I enjoyed my day fishing on the Ericht and hope that sometime in the future I can get back for another cast. I will wait until the river is at a good hight and hopefully catch it right when the salmon are a bit more eager to take the fly Cheers Iain. 🥃
Is that West Grange ? - i fished there last April (23) it looked very fishy. No fish but they has a few the week after. I will go back. Very nice medium sized river.
I am not very sure I know its the lower beat of the Blairgowery and Ratery Angling Association I look forward to getting back to the Ericht. it has some great pools and has a lot of fish that run the little river Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hi Iain another great video !,im fishing tomorrow, always recon it’s better if you see fish ,let’s you know they’re there ,even if they’re not playing fair lol 🥃
If you ever get the chance to fish the river Ericht when there is a couple of feet above summer level you will be amazed at the fish that can be in the river Cheers Iain. 🥃
The river holds a good head of salmon CF The guys that have season permits on the Ericht are lucky anglers keep at it I am sure the you will get one from there Cheers Iain 🥃
I've joined the B&R club this season and have tried for the trout with the single handed rod on that beat, but I too am yet to trouble anything of any size, it's a lovely beat, better luck later with the grilse.
You covered some water there Iain... and good numbers of fish to aim at... they can switch on and off like a light bulb! 😂 I was out myself yesterday and it was the same story.. fish showing and running.. but not taking.. maybe a half-hearted pull or a boil.. Great to be out trying! 😉 Cheers James 🥃
Here in Norway the fish are very late this year and are running much faster up the river than they usually do so they are hard to catch. Can that be a thing there too?
indeed it is I think that the river hight on most Scottish rivers have been higher than the last few years and it has given fish some help in heading upstream. Cheers Iain. 🥃
It's good fun trying James . this year seems to a bit more spectating than catching I was out on Friday and had a bit of a disastrous day and hopefully get round to getting the Micky taken from me . its all part of life rich tapestry Cheers Iain. 🥃
I have several pairs that I have accumulated over the years Julie . The ones I wear the most and on that day out were a pair of Simms with felt soles and I have screwed studs into the soles to give extra grip Cheers Iain 🥃
I think that I was using my 7 weight sage switch rod. I have found that it suits an 8 scandi short multi tip with the floating tip then a medium versy tip. I am quite fortunate to have accumulated a lot of tackle over the years due to the fact that I had always had the opportunity to do work for tackle shop owners and benefited from there good nature and kindness 😉 Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great video again Ian lot of fish in the tay system now they're all around you but still can't get a fish the chap who does scottish outdoors was fishing last in his video and they were jumping all round him but couldn't get a take that's salmon fishing
Ian. Your single spey is a WOW! Question I notice you never seem to throw a 80-90 degree cast. On this side of the world that gives a boost the fly swing that sometimes gives the fish the nudge to attack the fly. Great videos though . Cheers!
I do on occasions cast at 90degrees Tom . I have had a few fish while the fly has been dragging round rather than having it on the dangle. I think that most anglers catch fish as the fly travels round. I have noticed over the years that if there are a few fish in the pool leaving it to hang for a bit of time and then a short pull can induce a take. There are a lot of beats that I fish that I don't have the opportunity to do this as there are usually guys following and it would not be proper to have them wait Cheers Iain. 🥃
I think a lot of the fish had been at Islamouth and had seen everything and when the water rose they moved upstream to annoy myself and other anglers... There were a few fish caught on the beat ........ Its all about being in the right place Cheers Iain. 🥃

@@IainSB Iain I was at Dalguise last Thursday saw 4 fish ,a chap caught a 10 lb fish and I got my first 14 lb fish,I was like a dog with 2 tails lol 🥃

Nice vid iain. Where all the salmon were showing is where I was seeing them in the spring. Didn't touch any of them. Was frustrating.

@IainSB cheers. I've just booked upper scone pitlochrie Saturday. O hope get a chance to fish there this Saturday. Might see you there I see..

Great video again Iain is that the PDAA water ,not fished it yet
its the first time I have had a day on that beat Alex and since then had a day on the upper beat and hope to edit my day out soon Cheers Iain.
Hi lan great video. What wading boots do you use?
I have several pairs that I have accumulated over the years Julie . The ones I wear the most and on that day out were a pair of Simms with felt soles and I have screwed studs into the soles to give extra grip Cheers Iain 🥃

Fine to see a few fish about even if you don't get one. Gives you hope atleast.
I saw a lot more fish than I added to UA-cam Speedy. it was good to see and hopefully they go on add to the fish stocks in the future Cheers Iain. 🥃
