The #FordEdge was one of the first midsize SUV's to come to market back in 2006. Although @Ford Motor Company has redesigned the #Edge a few times over the years, the same basic formula remains. The current model has been on sale since 2015 and with increasing competition in this segment, #Ford needs to give the next generation version the Edgy feel that the first model had in order to stand out from several new players. - Авто та транспорт
The midsize SUV segment is really heating up lately! Ford's Edge is one of the OG's and sadly, we feel it hasn't aged well over the years. What do you think Ford needs to improve for the next generation?
Possibly increasing towing capacity (for boat owners) as one improvement - all in all a decent vehicle.
Meh it’s fine. Maybe tighten up
The steering and suspension and braking, and find ways to lighten its curb weight. But I would buy one of these if I could afford it. As far as picking a Honda Passport over this I sure wouldn’t. I feel most of Honda’s SUV’s save for the CRV are lacking on appeal.
The Edge is garbage.
Chezzyperson they all are just regular cars with maybe one or two in the segment that really stand out though. This segment of cars is now boring and this review of the Edge is about is it keeping up with the rest of them. My opinion is it still is with what is out here on the road.
It's so much behind the competition in terms of the interior. I believe the reason why they've not updated it is either because they're working on a new generation, or they're just going to discontinue it anyway.
I drive and Edge 2020 titanium, and this guy dosent know what he’s talking about,we love it.
I have one too. It’s a awesome vehicle with a great ride.
I used to love the edge’s design... 7 years ago
The car you tested is actually the Titanium with Elite package. I own that car and it is really great. No 360 camera but has 180 meaning there's front camera also and the button was just staring you in the face.
I compared it with the Lexus RX 350 before buying and it really does compare reasonably well but I chose the Edge for the price.
I have the cheaper Titanium and I love it, only gripe is it does not come with the seat coolers which would've been nice during the Florida summers.
That Burgundy Velvet ext color actually looks quite nice when the sun hits it. It brings out the metallic flake in it😁
I like it too. I’m tired of black, white, silver, gray cars!
Ford does have great paint colors.
I have a 2013 version. Two great things I can say about it.....it is paid for and it only has 69k miles on it.
You went back to your older/better review format (exterior, interior, then driving)! Thank you Redline! 👍🏻
Excellent car, especially the Titanium. I think it’s a great riding car and incredibly comfortable. Super picky review...The gauges could use some upgrading though.
The car still looks good, especially in ST form, but its just an old vehicle that they keep recycling for some reason. If they actually committed to updating this thing, I'm sure it would be good.
Jelly Beans look good?
Ford probably keeps recycling it because it still sells well... If nobody wanted it I'm sure it either would be redesigned or dropped completely.
It definitely seems to have taken a back seat compared to the rest of fords lineup. But since it seems to still be relatively popular, we’ll probably see a new one in the next couple of years.
The ST model should have come with the 3.0L 400hp V6 with a manual option.
Typical ford
There are a few highlights that keep this car selling. Most noticeable is that the body shell and chassis feel extremely strong though some who don’t like mass describe it as heavy. As a result it rides very comfortably even in its firmly suspended ST trim. It’s also got firm steering that’s pretty direct. Overall it has a feel somewhere in between the characteristics of a German car and an American touring car. Along with its long bottomed seats it makes for a nice distance runner for tall people who need long ledge seating to prevent back fatigue.
There are some positives for sure. I think if someone just wants the driving experience and doesn’t care about the interior appearance it’s probably fine, especially with the deep discounts.
I have a 2019 Edge and I’m happy with it. The design is fairly sleek ( nothing groundbreaking but sleek) and the interior definitely needs an update but it has ample room, smooth ride, good on gas and doesn’t break your wallet. Overall I’m satisfied and may get another once my lease is up
Same dashboard cockpit as my wife’s 2011 Edge Sport. Needs serious updating inside.
love the edge, didn't love this review
I liked the comment 😅
Dayum 😂😂😂
Agreed. I think he came in with his own biases. But some of his comments.... "Losing a car in his front pillar..." Unless its a matchbox, I dont think that's possible.
People complaining...lol. Don't buy it. Ford still makes it because people buy it. It's that simple. It seems the only people who care about "floating pads" are on here. The interior is fine, it does what it needs to do. And that's what counts.
Really and truly the only people buying fords now are die hard Ford fanatics. They buy for the name, not quality. Tbh most of them didn’t even go to another dealership because if they would, they never would’ve picked this over the competition.
@@stefanb.5154 I've owned 1 Pontiac, 3 Mazdas, 2 Hondas, 1 Nissan, 1 Kia, 1 Subaru, and now 2 Fords, a 2015 Mustang GT, and a 2016 Edge Sport. I went with value for performance & decent reliability. Quality? My Mustang has better fit & finish than my friend's $95k Tesla S p95d.
cadsux haha, your friend is an idiot for buying that money pit. Nobody said Tesla was quality, but Ford sure isn’t quality anymore either. The fit and finish on a 2020 explorer is on par with Tesla.
I just bought out the lease on my 2020 Edge Titanium. It’s fully loaded with everything and it’s an awesome car. I love it. It’s a great ride and a great look. I hate new stand up video screens. Get rid of those Ford!
Just bought a used 2020 Edge Titanium in gray. What an awesome car.
It’s way better than our 2013 Mazda CX9.
Power is totally fine. Better than the 3.7 V6 Mazda we had.
I like the fact it still doesn’t have the floating ipad in the middle that a lot of cars get.
If an automaker kills all their sedans, they're SUVs better come out swinging or just stay home. Escape, Edge and the Ecosport ALL need redesigns ASAP
Escape literally just got one this year.
@@johnnymichael1804 and it's BASURA
I have 2020 edge. It is really quite and comfortable! Yea, can’t wait to get new sorento
Have a 2019 SEL and have no complaints. I'd agree that it's probably not the best at any one thing, but seems to be at least average to above average in almost every category.
Agree. These seem reliable and spacious and you can get better deals on them that most of the competition. Plus I still think these look pretty good personally.
I have a 2016 ford edge and really like it. I like this video and I think you have a good narration style
Lmao, he just read that car up and down. 😂😂👏
This car is a budget lexus rx . You do not get the lexus interior but you get a roomy interior, decent power , awd mitigates the torque steer , comfortable ride and safety features. This car does well what its supposed to do.
I wish they kept the tail light design from the 2015-'18 model. It would match perfect with those updated headlights.
You’re spot on in your review....I just bought a 2019 Ford Edge SEL traded in a 2017 Ford Escape... it was just too good a deal to pass up ...$9200 off a new leftover and $2500 over book value for the trade in ... that’s the reason to buy a Ford Edge it’s the deal $ ... I do like the Edge it’s my commuter car so it’s super comfortable ride smoothly radio is good it’s just not a exciting SUV to drive or own.
Thanks Sofyan for the review. I needed to know as much as I could about this vehicle before I committed on renting one of these for my roadtrip back to California coming down the 5 from Oregon. I hope it provides a comfortable ride because I'll be behind the wheel on this thing driving on the highway for about 10.5 hours. If Avis doesn't have this available, I'm hoping whatever they give me is just as good.
So how was the drive?
I love the shape of the edge which is why I’m looking into it. I also like the idea of a heavy car feels safer to me.
I would rather spend my bucks on a Venza, better tech and way better efficiency
Big discounts bring the price down a lot!
And its resale value goes down with that
One thing you guys are forgetting is that there are so many women roughly age 50 (empty nesters) and up who are LOYAL Edge buyers. I know more than one who have owned an example of each refresh since the Gen 1 Edge. I honestly think this was the market that Toyota was courting with the original VENZA.
I see the Edge as a lost opportunity, especially with the sport model.
Last month we were in the market for a mid-sized SUV. We drove them all, and it came down to the Edge SEL and the Honda Passport EX-L. The prices were about the same with Ford’s huge discounts. There were some things I liked/disliked in each. We liked the space, visibility and V6 (“Just hit V-TECH yo!) of the Passport and we were leaning that way. The smokin’ Lease deal on the Passport sealed the deal.
While it’s looking a little old, keeping the style similar over the years means that people with older models still have relatively fresh looking cars.
Go to 7:57, am I the only one who noticed what looks like a bird poking out of where the hood hinge rests when closed ? 😂
I disagree with your negatives. The Ford Edge is fantastic.
I'm no Ford fan, but those second row seats are the best in the segment.
Drinking game: take a shot every time Sofyan says “taste”
Edge is beautiful and need some update from ford to lead the sale. Otherwise its definitly a hot suv.
ford stopped making cars and is now focusing on bland and uninspired SUV’s. I cross shopped an Explorer and ended up with a Telluride, which in my opinion is a much better value.
Let's face it that's where the market is going for now😏
i heard those telluride's are appreciating
Yea sad but true. Other than the mustang and it’s variants ford went all in on suvs and eco-boost engines.
I don’t blame you. I sat in a 2020 Explorer and it was so bland. The competition has stepped up and is offering more enticing vehicles
For real, I feel like Ford puts zero effort into anything that isn't a Mustang or a truck.
Love our Edge...for the price we paid. 2017 3.5 V6 AWD. Paid 20k otd when it has 22k miles. Fully loaded. I’d never buy a boring SUV new, but especially not this one.
As an owner of a passport who drives an Edge as a company car, I have to say the Edge is not that bad considering the value since you can always get a good deal. The noise level is about the same and the ride (I have the SE model with 18’s) is very good compared to my Passport with 20’s. The only issue is the weight of the vehicle. To get decent acceleration, you constantly need to get the turbo to kick in and i worry about longevity with the ecoboost. 4K pounds is a lot to pull for a little 2.0 liter.
Ecoboost should be fine longterm, my wife and my mother both have Edge's (2013 and 2014) with over 100k on them and both have been reliable... Doubt either of them want to upgrade to this new one though, just doesn't seem much different or any more updated.
Please do a video on a 2021 Ford Edge with the new updates screen
My sister loves these edge this is her third one which she purchased last night she traded her "18 SEL for the "20 Titanium in grey with the elite package (not my style but it's nice for her)
Great review 👍
Picky picky , I think it looks like a nice car the worst thing to me is not having a shifter. That's most cars now unfortunately.
They're putting those giant touch screens in for the 2021 model years and making it standard across all trims. I'm going to wait until 2021 to get an Edge
It's funny, that the current Toyota Rav4's profile and rear looks a lot like the Ford Edge. The headlights and grille are the same shape as a 2015 Mustang.
Lol poor ford 😭 😅 🤣 😂. This just begs for a 70 year old guy with oversized ears 👂 and a foldable cain.
You’ve got an accord buddy don’t get too ambitious

It needs to go back to the first gen styling i had a 2014 limited AWD and it was a fantastic vehicle .. Good power good handling some mechanical issues with the AWD system but it never had us wanting for anything .. Until someone stole it from our Driveway.
When they went to the new gen styling i swore uo and down we would never get this one. And when our 2014 was stolen we went to look at a 2019 and it felt sooo cheap and juat quality went way down from previous gen so we skipped it and went with a Flex because we needed the extra space for my mothers various walking aids wheel chairs etc and the Flex has been a gem so far.
My wife had a 2009 Edge that got stolen out of our driveway too. Replaced it with a 2013 that she likes, but she felt the same way about this new version. We'll probably just skip it and upgrade to the Lincoln version next year instead.
I have a 2009 Edge Sport, now im worried about it getting stolen!
@@corionh4775 yeah man fore took a big fall in quality to try and keep up with the other brands. I think they need to go with a different approach because this is my last Ford for a min.
This is a good travel car for long-distance riding, I do not need a high-performance vehicle unless it is all-electric
Still looks very nice despite it's design age
Sofyan: 91F bloody hot
Texans: LOL
I had a 2007 edge for 10 years and I really liked it. I bought an Edge sport in 2017 and just didn’t care for it. The engine was good but the 6 speed trans always seemed like it was in the wrong gear. Brakes were very grabby and after 2 years had some creaks and rattles starting to show up. I saved nearly 8k off sticker price with 0% financing. Decided to sell it after 2.5 years. Thinking about going electric with my next purchase.
I had a 2011 and it was awesome! They have really killed the edge
So so so glad we bought the '17 Sport when we did. So much nicer than these.
I own a 2013 and unfortunately I’m not a big fan of the Ford Edge any more I was expecting a better ride quality but understand that they sacrifice some ride comfort for better handling plus wind noise is little louder than other competitors
Other than that the car didn’t let me down good power good brakes and very comfortable seats
Great leg shots

I haven't considered anything from ford or American automakers since the early 90s. I'm always shocked when I hear a car like this sells reasonably well.
I wanna watch this video all day
Please give us a review of the SR+ Model 3
Can't believe they still have that same old instrument cluster thats been in Ford vehicles since 2013.
What about Nissan? They’ve been using the same gauges since 2013 as well lol
didn't survive in EU - EOL last year, mainly due to only offering it with _diesel engine only_ and emissions, such a shame. I test drove one to try the new (then) 8 speed rotary autobox.
I have had Fords for many years, they really need to upgrade their interiors to be in line with Mazda and Toyota.
They should refresh it properly and throw in that 3.0 TT engine from the explorer ST trim.
I guess I’m and old man! :-) I love any interior/exterior that is OTB. (Other Than Black)
This should be called “Ford Round”
🤣😂😅
I have the old edge and it looks exactly the same. Come on Ford!
Yeah my wife has the old 2013 Edge and this one doesn't look that different. Been reliable but will probably upgrade her to the Lincoln version instead though.
Thanks Granny
Put a fusion on stilts and jack up the price. Hopefully it's better than the new explorer!
I’ve been watching RedLine for a long time. I’m getting tired of him saying “ for my taste”. 🤣
his taste is obviously weird....I love strait people
I what a Electric Ford Edge. Time to make one.
I love Ford, but rlly need to update interior
Ford definitely needs to roll out the platinum trim across its entire lineup. I know they are trying to revitalize their flagship luxury brand Lincoln, but the sales just aren’t there even with the steady Y.O.Y sales growth. Ford is mainstream and has a younger demographic. Therefore more folks will continue to flock to the blue oval
We test drove a 2019 Lincoln MKC last year. And even it may had been out dated but it will was still nicer then the Edge is. And Even that Ford and Lincoln are the same company Lincoln is winning over they interior designs.
That makes sense because Lincoln is the luxurious version of Ford
Do an up-to-date video on the Ford Flex
They stopped production of the Flex.
Let’s hope the 2022 Edge gets better for the redesign
5:53 😁😀😅😂. The only way this can compete with the Lexus RX is in terms of power/engine options. The Edge has more power than the RX, depending on engine choice. In my opinion, it's the Lincoln Nautilus that stands a better chance against the RX.
i am finishing up my second 3-year lease with the Edge(s). I like the looks and the mellow ride. It has been a very enjoyable car but is Fordish with many rattles and squeaks. It is not refined. I am looking at the Genesis GV70 and Lincoln Nautilus -- more expensive but a better choice for me.
I wish they redesigned the interior.
Specially the dashboard looks 10yrs old.
So what's the difference between the edge, escape and the new bronco sport? I feel like they're all very Similar and they might get rid of one?
The Ford Escape and bronco are smaller and tighter inside. Not as lush.
What others would you prefer over the edge
When are you doing a 2021 nissan rogue review?
I’m sure he will have that out in a few days. All the press has gotten one already.
Are you ever gonna get a TLX?
Did I hear correctly that the Edge will be discontinued? Would make sense with the arrival of the Bronco and Bronco Sport.
I don’t see how that would make sense as that’s a completely different segment. The Bronco is a competitor of the Jeep Wrangler, and the edge is a grand Cherokee competitor.
@@stefanb.5154 I read it from a few sources stating that 2022 was the last year.
@@desertmike680 I doubt that would be true considering how well these sell for Ford. If it is discontinued, it will most likely be replaced by a similar vehicle with a new name. As if to say more so swapping a name than completely discontinuing it. The Bronco series doesn’t compete in the midsize crossover segment, the bronco goes head to head with the wrangler, while the bronco sport slots near the escape in size, so more of a jeep renegade competitor.
@@stefanb.5154 I was questioning the same thing since they do sell really, well.
@@desertmike680 I just did a little googling myself, apparently it is true. They’re closing the plant that manufactures it, but there is speculation of the Puma replacing it.
The 2 liter turbo is one of the faster base engines in this segment. Something like 6.8 to 60. Faster than base engine Blazers, Muranos, Santa Fes, Grand Cherokees.... I mean the only one faster with the base is basically the Passport as its V6 is the only option
These 2.0 turbo engines are crap and tend to wear out surprisingly fast.
@@tails300 okay.... I didn't say it was reliable just commenting on its speed factor for the base engine 😂 i had a rig with a 2.0 ecoboost and it drove well over 100k miles with no issues. But everyone has different experiences so who knows 🤷
Ford doesn't know the Koreans are much better
wow, very cool !
Would you pick this vehicle and trim versus the Lincoln Nautilus?
No. Lol...why?
So basically I just need to keep my 2016 Ford Edge 😂😂😭😭
This generation was introduced for the 2015 model year and its still in the exact same generation. The only difference is slight change on the interior and an exterior refresh that happened for 2019. It’s the same exact vehicle besides the headlights and tail lights.
Stefan B. Same story with the Nissan Murano lol
@@AUA-camChannelwithNoName at least the Murano doesn’t look half as aged as this. The cheap plastic interior is really what kills it for me because the outside is actually quite nice, and one of my favorite exterior designs.
Stefan B. Agree, Murano has always looked sexy. Edge looks pretty bland
@@AUA-camChannelwithNoName I agree, the murano is easily my favorite design in the segment. The edge is a little more on the bland side, but it is still pretty attractive. The only vehicle I really have an issue with is the passport, because I feel like Honda basically cheated on that one. No effort was made to make a unique vehicle as it’s just a shortened pilot
Have a 2011 Edge and see no reason to buy another when looking. There's plenty of other (better) choices in the segment
My wife drives a 2013 Edge and she's fine with it, has been reliable with probably about 110k on it now, but yeah I don't see a reason to upgrade her to this new one.
Recently bought a 2011 edge with 40k miles. I like it so far, especially the cargo space but will definitely be checking back when the next generation comes out.
@@TheSonOfSam91 nice grab i want a 2014 sport
IG NightReaper bad news about that, fords discontinuing the edge. And you might want to really consider something else, considering fords dramatically decreased reliability ratings. Since around 2014 their transmissions have gone to absolute crap. The fit and finish inside fords today just isn’t what it used to be. Ford has really fallen off the bandwagon
@@stefanb.5154 why though? Just cause it's discontinued doesn't mean he have to sell his car
Looks like the same Gauge Cluster from the 2014 Ford Fusion. Still looks "OK" and see alot of these on the roads. So there's a style of vehicle for everyone i guess.
The Murano was preceded by the Highlander and RX300.
Think poor man's Bentley Bentayga without the looks, performance, luxury.....and status! LOL!

@@Brownnproud91
Not a very good opinion. The Edge is still a solid mid-size offering. The base engine is more than sufficient for it. Sofyan's opinion on power is incredibly annoying. He never adjusts his mindset correctly for the type of vehicle he's driving. It's always the same "it could do with 50 more hp". The interior could definitely use a refresh, especially when the new Venza is set to arrive soon.
ATX Trent the point is generating revenue, which you helped him do when you watched the video, lol
How nice they let you review a 2010 model.
😅😂🤣
A 2010 Edge with a 2020 exterior apparently
I drive a 2018 Ford Edge Titanium bought new in black with brown interior. Part of this review is about right and other parts not. I came from a Ford Fusion and wanted an SUV about the same size. I tried the Ford Explorer Limited and loved it except for the gas mileage which was terrible. Tried a Honda Passport ( did not like the interior) and Hyundai Sante Fe ( did not like the engine) Ford had the right trim at the right price ( with discounts) so I bought it. At the time in 2018, there were not many options for a two-row SUV that size. Jeep GC had too large an engine and the Nissan Murano was not to my taste on the outside.
What I enjoy about my Ford Edge: Seating and cargo space.Engine.Stereo.Interior layout. Driving dynamics.Great brakes.Has everything I need. What I do not enjoy about my Ford Edge: Infotainment can be buggy at times. The graphics are a bit old. Seats are firm and a bit awkward ( but after much trial and error, I found the correct position), gas mileage only adequate.
Mentioning the Lexus RX exterior design. That has not changed much either in the same time span as the Ford Edge. In fact, I prefer the exterior of the Edge more than the Lexus.
Would I buy another Ford Edge ( if not discontinued)? Perhaps but unlikely. I would upgrade to the Lincoln Nautilus or go one size up and look at an Explorer or Telluride.
The Nissan Murano has the same problems. Outdated exterior; small dash-integrated infotainment. Steering wheel doesn't look modern, but it aged better than the Murano.
This is still a stunning car and very reliable too. The interior needs a design update though but at least it's more luxurious and has far less panel gaps than the new Explorer's sad interior.
no 360 camera? 1:26 i def see a front camera under the ford emblem or am i wrong lol
It has a 180 degree front camera but no side cameras
@@db4z09 That's stupid.
Overall, I like the Edge exterior but the front end of the interior is in need of an update. I prefer the integrated screen but, everything looks a decade old.
Made in Mexico? My son drives a 2007 with a 265hp V6 with over 180,000 miles on it and it's still reliable transportation, I gave it to him 6 years ago with 120,000 miles on it. The 2.0 litre engine is to small for all that weight, it strains the engine. I really like the Ford Edge but I'd have to have a V-6!
$47k? Ford’s smoking crack.
