    I love how this guy writes and produces the most unhinged, maniacal music and yet he's so laid back and well-spoken.

      you can say the same from ben of Dillinger . ben said once , i can be chill because all my anger handed in my guitar

    • @iggysixx
      @iggysixx Рік тому +1

      I'd argue that is exactly why he's laid back ;) From my own experience, making loud, aggressive music is the ideal way to be the most peaceful version of yourself.
      In the practise room, on stage, through the music, you're able to VENT all of your frustrations.
      Same goes for people in the pit.
      It's a release valve

    I'd like to add:
    Egos are not the same as 'strong opinions'. Key is to listen to everyone's input.
    Also, even if you think something (namely an idea for a song or song part) is a bad idea, pay respect by trying it, playing it the best as you can, and record it, so you can 'come back to it later'.
    Gives everyone time to let the idea sink in (since they can listen during the week), it doesn't kill the input vibe, and gives everyone a chance to formulate why they do or don't like it, or perhaps generate some new ideas with the same vibe that fit the song better.
    (It's good to remember that not everyone can put their musical ideas into words as well as the other band members)
    Also, for creative purposes, it can help to show off examples... "Like this break in this Terror song"... Stuff like that.
    It can help communicate why a certain part is needed or wanted, what the appeal of such a part would be...
    In other words, it could help articulate the 'vision' someone has in their head

    The best thing to do is dont take yourself so seriously. I've met in over 26 years many musicians and bands and the people who made the biggest impact on me were the ones who just took it easy and didnt make themselves think they are rockstars.

      This is huuuuuuuuuge. Dramatic or more serious theatrics are great on stage, but they should be left there. If you're 'in character' so to speak off the stage, it's easy to see that as campy or just... easy to dismiss I guess. Everyone loves chill people lol

    I can't stress how important it is to be a humble musician, an ego in a group will make you so hard to work with. Just because people compliment your band/playing and think your great doesn't mean you can get away with acting like a biggest drummer rockstar when all you do is gallop. (this was my ex drummer)
