I was privileged to work with the guy. I will never forget looking out from the stage at Earls Court in 1978 to see the stage lights reflecting off the first 10 rows of the audience with their eyes and mouths wide open, totally in awe. And that was just the first song, Warzawa. Stunning stage presence. Genius and a sadly missed friend.

Just a normal but not a normal bloke. Approachable, with a good sense of humor. You could just imagine going with David to a local pub and having a pint or two and chewing over music. In fact, a devoted fan parked outside his apartment block, thinking that he might get a view of David. This guy was an ardent fan and had followed David internationally to his concerts. When David found out he went downstairs, knocked on the car window, invited the guy back to his flat, where they danced to tracks on his new album while the guy gave David feedback about what he thought. The guy stated it was simply incredible. This is how David was. He was talented, but he was totally human and generous. He had a lot of issues in his initial married life, but in the end it all turned out ok. His musical talent was astonishing. I remember him in his Ziggy Stardust days way back in the 70's. That was a magical time. It is just a great pity he could not carry the Spiders with him. Mick Ronson too went out with liver cancer, same as David. I miss David. We will probably never see his like again. But look what he left us. Never to be forgotten. The best.

the way he sort of does an impression of his younger self when he sings Ziggy Stardust is mindblowing. His older voice is so rich and deep but he could thin it out and de-age it so easily

You can tell he just enjoys interacting and talking with people. He has such a positive spirit. It's a shame he had to struggle with so much emotional turmoil it is personal life. I just learned that the song "Ashes to Ashes" off the "Scary Monsters" album was about him and his struggle with drug addiction. Maybe that's what made him such a great artist--not the drugs but having to struggle and fight to stay saying everyday. You can tell from those phone requests that he's very down to earth, personable, sensitive, and has a great sense of humor.

This is the irony of a very young listener asking for Ashes to Ashes, and Bowie saying, "OK Georgie." What an incredibly kind guy, who is clearly shocked at the kid's choice but also respectful of his favorite song, that appeals to him on his level. His reaction, his patience and his creativity all show what an incredible person he was. RIP>

At 1:01:36 Bowie makes this wonderful, understated, acknowledgement of the aging process ... memory isn't quite what it used to be; eyes aren't quite what they used to be. And he actually invited this revealing bit. Aside from being an extraordinary artist, Bowie was also a wise and gracious man. He is deeply missed ...

Such a great personality. I have no idea what he was like behind the stage or in the studio. But I think in the long run, he was an artist who was so dedicated to his work. Slip Away Lyrics:
Oogie waits for just another day
    Drags his bones
    To see the Yankees play
Bones Boy talks and flickers gray
    Oh, they slip away
    Once a time
    They nearly might have been
Bones and Oogie on a silver screen
No one knew what they could do
    Except for me and you
    They slip away
    They slip away
    Don't forget
    To keep your head warm
    Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd
    Watching all the world
    And war torn
How I wonder where you are
    Oo-o
    Sailing over
    Coney Island
    Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd
    We were dumb
    But you were fun, boy
How I wonder where you are
    Oo-o
Oogie knew there's never ever time
Some of us will always stay behind
Down in space it's always 1982
    The joke we always knew
    Oo-oo
    What'sa matter with you
    C'mon, let's go
    Slip away
    Oo-o
    Don't forget
    To keep your head warm
    Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd
    Watching all the world
    And war torn
How I wonder where you are
    Oo-o
    Sailing over
    Coney Island
    Twinkle twinkle Uncle Floyd
    We were dumb
    But you were fun, boy
How I wonder where you are
    Oo-o

    What a masterpiece.

Disagree except for creative Mike Garson. They're all just too robotic, session player types.

@@nija1976 You know not of what you speak. First of all, do you think for even a nano second that David would settle for "robotic session player types"? You don't know who any of them are, outside of Garson. The guitar stage right was Earl Slick. He was the one who played on Station to Station on both the album and song, and the one who came up with that amazing guitar solo on the song S2S. The guitarist in the middle was Mark Plati. He he's a multi instrumentalist, producer and was the band leader. He worked with David from 1997 to 2002. The guitarist on stage left is Gerry Leonard. He worked with David from 2000 to 2004 and then again on The Next Day, as did Earl Slick. The bassist was Gail Ann Dorsey. She worked with David from '95 to 2004, and then on The Next Day. The drummer was Sterling Campbell and he worked with David from '99 to '04 and then on The Next Day. Ever heard the saying, "Better to keep one's mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"? Keep your mouth shut when you don't know WTF you're talking about.

Being a pretty straight laced guy from the 50's, Bowie seemed a little out there. In the early 70's, my girlfriend loved Bowie. Had to have tickets for the concert in San Diego in the mid 70's. Great show. I became a huge fan.

Me sorprende que nunca me canse de admirarle ..
    Me hipnotiza tanto! I
    Gracias, infinitas graciassss

Remember watching this when it came out. Bowie has such iconic songs that will last forever. Heathen had some really good songs but by this time Bowie didn't get much airtime anymore. Have to admit selfishly I missed his other worldly characters of the 70s and the more simpler acoustic songs even though his music remained top notch his whole career.
