The look Elton gives his band at the start of Rocketman right after 'he sings preflight' is like he's saying to them "Okay Guys we have to come through on this one" and by god did they come through.

Just listened to this concert all the way through again (after just seeing him live for his final GYBR tour performance in Pittsburgh, four days ago), and I must say, I totally agree - Elton and the band were in top form here, the sound quality was excellent, and the playlist was superb!! (Although I must also say that the farewell concert was outstanding!! My BFF and I, hard-core EJ fans since 1972, were thoroughly satisfied... and incredibly impressed - Elton is 75 now (20 years since this concert!!), and he still sounds, AND PLAYS, like the GOAT he is!!! Long Live Sir Elton!!! Thanks for all the incredible music and memories!!! 🌟🌟🌟💖💖💖😘🥰😍🤩

I was there at that concert, the one two nights before that, the last one and one in Perth (not the one he had to cancel 😢) and even though he was suffering vocally he gave it everything he had and I reckon a few of the songs performed have never sounded better. Although I haven’t been to every concert that other artists/bands have performed I reckon you’d be hard pressed to find one that comes close to that tour.

They are 30 years older and so am I. However, they all play their music just as good as they did in their younger days. Elton's voice may have changed however he is not 20 something anymore he is now 60 something and is still very good.

I was in Montréal in 2001 when this concert appeared on the television in my hotel room, and that was the first time I heard the song “Ballad Of The Boy In The Red Shoes”.
I immediately liked it and thought it sounded like his songs from his heyday in the 1970s, and it was at that moment that I decided that I had to add the Songs From the West Coast album to my collection. I still think that album is one of the best by Elton John.
After all these years , I immediately recognized this video when I saw it. Thank you for uploading it.

LET me tell you a story
Back in 2001 I had not a digital recorder set, just a vhs.
In that time I receive cable tv analog ( not digital)
That night in L.A. there was a very heavy blizzard that lead to several technical difficulties at the first part of the show. Everyone saw a flashing transmition.. for a while , wich obviously ruined my record and That broadcast service obviously.
That was at 9pm East time. Eventually at the reposition at 1am at the next day, we can see the 3 songs from the beginning without that technical difficulties. Just to realize that they replay and re recorder (internally) those songs that were broke up due to that bad wheather in order to get a proper clean register.
      I recordered 2 times
In Uruguay. Place where I live, and from where I writing right now.

P[eople actually called to listen to Philadelphia Freedom, and even Crocodile Rock ? I don't care if they were HITS !!! Not his better songs by far.

I would have gone border song, harmony, or Mona Lisas and mad hatters. My Fathers Gun as another underrated song
