Thankyou for this review as its helped. Whats quite humorous is that the huge time it takes to change the angle to 45 is a plus for mew. I do very precise angle cuts and need micro adjustements.
I had the exact same issue with the tensioning bolt! i thought I bought a lemon until I noticed the “mistake” when I was troubleshooting it. Carbatec really needs to update their manual.

Thanks for providing an honest and entertainig review. I've watched it several times over the last year and this time, I think it's helped me with my decision to buy one. So many helpful tips like offsetting the fence rails, the tension bolt issue, roller base reco etc etc. I wonder did you ever adjust the 45° stop and have you considered a 'what I've learnt about this saw in the last year' video? I’m only watching this because I bought this exact same saw a while back and wanted to see if you liked it as much as I do. I moved from a Triton work centre 2000. Wow the difference was awesome.
@@JNDCreations I' I'm coming in a bit late here. Just bought the same model (same price). Formerly a sandgroper but in Sydney now. Also had a Triton workbench in the 1990s. Hoping this one is more accurate. Mate helped me put the wings on and you are right - the instructions for putting the bars on the front and back are atrocious. Had to come back in and rewatch your install. How did you get it off your Ute? I had to hire 3T truck and lift at the back and buy a new 300Kg rated trolley. Thanks for making the videos. Worth hearing other people's experiences.

I laid it on its side in the tray, then slowly slid it out onto a chair I’ve got in my shop with wheels 😂 sketchy as hence why it wasn’t in the video haha. You’ve gotta creative when you’ve only got 1 set of hands!
You should be able to move the 45° stop to allow the blade to go past the 45. I tuned my saw and used this adjustment. Yes I feel your pain of the angle adjustment, damn it takes some time. The height adjust does allow very fine adjustment.

Hey mate I have had this saw for around 2 years now and the brass screws on the fence sit about 2mm higher than the saw top which is really annoying. Just wondering if you have noticed the same problem?. When ripping a wider board it tends to wobble on top of the screw which is not ideal. Also I agree that the height and tilt wheels are hard yakka to turn all the way up or down.

I’m also in WA and after a lot of research, have settled on this saw, being the best quality/value tablesaw we can get here without selling my first born to cover ridiculous shipping costs! I think I’ll see if I can replace the cheap threaded rod for blade HT and tilt adjustment with proper Acme threads. Cheers🇦🇺
Also, I Had to do abit of an adjustment to my saw the other day to re-align the miter slot to the blade. Had a quick squiz at the instructions and it seemed pretty straight forward, loosen the 4 table mounting bolts and tap with hammer in needed direction.... YEAH RIGHT!, the bloody thing didn't want to move so I tapped abit harder.... NOPE nothing. This went on for nearly 6 hours, even took the fence rail system and side table off to lighten the top thinking it must be too heavy, still didn't budge!. Not one to give up I got my torch out and took a look under the table to see why its not moving. To my shock I noticed two very small set screws one in the left corner and another in the right holding the table top in place, you can't see these unless you completely remove the bolts. Great Cabinet Saw but instruction manual is abit cack.

Mate, great video!! Also looking at buying one!! I currently have a Dewalt jobsite one that, brother, drives me nuts!! The aluminium top isn't flat and depending on the width of the rip cut, gives me a different angle every time :(. The rise and fall mechanism on the SawStop is under a patent. The amount of winding you need to do is a good thing, it will allow you to get the accuracy you want. Attach a rare earth magnet to a piece of string that will hold the arbor nut from falling down into the bottom of the saw. Consider the sliding table for accuracy, repeatability and safety.
Can you make some kind of a hex shank connection for a Impact driver on both blade height & blade angle adjusters .. I would remove the handles & keep the wheels attached to fine tune by hand.
@@brettalexander3028 most likely, but how many times do you really need to wind out all the way up or down? That much winding means you're likely to get the exact height you want more accurately.
You might be surprised dude, did you see Paul Jackmans shop before he moved? He was in a 1 car garage. I am lucky to have the above to squeeze my stuff in to! I want to get a drum sander but I think it would have to live in the living room and I don’t think the mrs will be impressed with that haha

I considered mentioning the price, but with Covid Carbatec have slowly been changing all their pricing. I was worried my stated price would be wrong by the end of the month 😂 as it stands right now (Nov 2020), my setup would cost you $2,309 AUD.

@@JNDCreations She is a beauty, mate. However the table is rather small and I can't get extension wings for it as they don't make them any more. And it doesn't have the bevel ability either, just the depth of cut adjustment. Be sad to see her go, but I need the upgrade.
Hey Jax, I was recently having problems with doing shallow cuts with the saw bogging down and the blade stopping. Took a quick look at the motor and mechanics of it and realised I also didn't replace the tension bolt!. I thought that either its not really that powerful or the motor was on its way out!. Looking forward to experiencing the full power of this baby now!. Cheers - Sam
Sorry mate I’m away from my shop for a couple of weeks so can’t get a measurement for you. I’d say that sounds about right though. Mine sits about waist height and I’m 6’5.
Pretty certain they still sell it mate. Although the price has almost definitely gone up since this video. I still love mine! It does great in my shop!
Awesome review, many thanks! I’m keen on this saw but I have a very very small workshop. Do you know if there is any way to shorten the rails so that the fence is only (or mostly) over the cast iron top? I rip mostly very narrow boards and mouldings so don’t need the side extension at all, and it will not fit in the space I have with them there 😔.

Hi, nice review .. realy stuck between this saw and a laguna Fusion 3 I am in NZ and have way less choice than you in Oz . have you tried a dado stack in the saw yet and did it manage ok ?
Thanks mate! To be honest I haven’t tried the dado stack in there yet, but the saw is classed as dado capable and I haven’t had any issues with it power wise so far. I had a quick look at the Laguna 3 when it came out at Carbatec, didn’t delve too deep though as I already had this beauty haha.
Hey Jax, Ive got a Dewalt contractor saw with a small wobble in the blade, I guess the arbour is out a bit. Anyway, how do you find this saw, nice and straight, no deviation when it's spinning. I find that it just being out a fraction makes it very difficult to cut accurate, repeatable mitres. Also how are the tracks, again my Dewalt saw the tracks are a bit out and it makes it difficult to make an accurate crosscut sled in combination with a wobbling blade. Are the tracks on these straight and aligned. Cheers mate
Hey Matthew. Im quite happy with this saw mate. Haven’t had any issues with blade wobble or the slots being out. It’s got a 5/8 arbour, so as long as the blade insert is in right things should be smooth.
Hi Mate, great review and unboxing. I've just recently bought one (in no small part due to your vids). I was wondering if you have had dust collection issues. Just wondering if I need to put a base (wood or something else) onto my mobile base to help seal the cabinet give that on the base there is a good size gap which may affect the collection. on my model they have included a brochure explaining how not to fall for the "missing bolt effect". Great site and great vids, keep up the good work.
Hi mate, that’s awesome congrats on your new saw! If you’ve got dust coming out the bottom the first thing I’d check would be that your hose clamps are tight enough. I get a little bit of dust down there but it’s not a lot. Just what manages to slip through the cracks. @@JNDCreations Thanks for the response mate. I don't have a real issue with the dust. All my connections are tight. I was just wondering if there was any benefit to making a "floor" to go on the mobile base to maybe improve the efficiency of the vacuum. The dust generated all falls to the ground and is kept within the area of the base so it's no big deal just to clean it up after I've finished cutting. It would probably be less of a hassle to leave it because it looks difficult to have to lift the saw to get something under it, but then we all love a challenge. I agree that Carbatec must have been paying attention and upped the quality of their instructions. Hopefully they can extend it to some of their other gear. I put together one of their router tables and it was 10% instruction and 90% guess work (not really but it felt like it at times) Also enjoyed your reviews on the jointer and thicknesser. I've had the same models for a couple of years and they work great. Thanks for your channel and keep it coming 😃😃

Hi I just finished assembling my new saw. Apparently I got the last one in stock from Carbatec here in New Zealand. When I switch it on it runs and sounds great - that is until just before it stops it lets out a horrible grinding noise ! I recall that I read somewhere that someone else experienced this but I can’t find the post. Anyone able to help re this ? Thanks DC
Spoke to Carbatec . It seems the sound is something to do with motor switching and is in fact the same with my dust extractor when switched off and approaching full stop
Hi I’am waiting for theses saws to come back in stock (Sydney store ) so to go down and view, could you possibly tell me the width from left to right, whilst standing at the saw including the guide rail, only have 1-250mm room to fit it in the garage against the wall, so as to get my car in at the end of the day, don’t cut large sheet material, my dewalt contractor saw as a telescopic arm, but I do need to upgrade.
G’day Peter, Thanks for checking out the video mate. The setup I have is about 1540mm from left to right, including the rails, and 990mm front to back including all the fence assembly. The saw moves around easily on a bora mobile base to which could be handy for your setup!

Ah awesome to hear you got one Peter! Yeah the 5/8 can be hard to find. I run CMT blades, with a 30mm down to 5/8 reducer. You can grab the reducer from Carbatec.

Awesome, i am thinking of getting one, or one similar to it. Can you tell me how heavy it is to get into the shop? did you have to lift it off a truck? how was it delivered? cheers and that helped me a lot.
If you check out my set up video mate (I linked it in this video) it covers everything. I filmed the pickup. Carbatec loaded it with a forklift into my tray, then I battled it out by myself haha. I’d recommend getting a mate to help though, it’s around 200kgs I think. I used a trolley to get it in. If you don’t film it though, you could unbox it in the tray. Would be way easier to remove. The bulk of the weight is in the wings. Remove those from the box and it’s easy!
Yeah sorry mate just realized I didn’t include that because I did it at night. I ended up laying the crate down and sliding it out. Are you in Perth mate?
Apologies for that Pat. The price varies greatly depending on which package and extras you get so that is why I left it out. There’s different fence options and different table sizes which changes the cost. I hope the rest of the video was helpful though 👍

She is a beauty, mate. However the table is rather small and I can't get extension wings for it as they don't make them any more.
And it doesn't have the bevel ability either, just the depth of cut adjustment. Be sad to see her go, but I need the upgrade.
Hey Jax, I was recently having problems with doing shallow cuts with the saw bogging down and the blade stopping. Took a quick look at the motor and mechanics of it and realised I also didn't replace the tension bolt!. I thought that either its not really that powerful or the motor was on its way out!. Looking forward to experiencing the full power of this baby now!. Cheers - Sam

Sorry mate I’m away from my shop for a couple of weeks so can’t get a measurement for you. I’d say that sounds about right though. Mine sits about waist height and I’m 6’5.

Awesome review, many thanks! I’m keen on this saw but I have a very very small workshop. Do you know if there is any way to shorten the rails so that the fence is only (or mostly) over the cast iron top? I rip mostly very narrow boards and mouldings so don’t need the side extension at all, and it will not fit in the space I have with them there 😔.

The best in the Carbatec range mate. The overhead cover is very efficient because it’s not one solid piece as a lot of other saws are.

Hi, nice review .. realy stuck between this saw and a laguna Fusion 3 I am in NZ and have way less choice than you in Oz . have you tried a dado stack in the saw yet and did it manage ok ?

To be honest I haven’t tried the dado stack in there yet, but the saw is classed as dado capable and I haven’t had any issues with it power wise so far.
I had a quick look at the Laguna 3 when it came out at Carbatec, didn’t delve too deep though as I already had this beauty haha.
Hey Jax, Ive got a Dewalt contractor saw with a small wobble in the blade, I guess the arbour is out a bit. Anyway, how do you find this saw, nice and straight, no deviation when it's spinning. I find that it just being out a fraction makes it very difficult to cut accurate, repeatable mitres. Also how are the tracks, again my Dewalt saw the tracks are a bit out and it makes it difficult to make an accurate crosscut sled in combination with a wobbling blade. Are the tracks on these straight and aligned. Cheers mate

Im quite happy with this saw mate. Haven’t had any issues with blade wobble or the slots being out. It’s got a 5/8 arbour, so as long as the blade insert is in right things should be smooth.
Hi Mate, great review and unboxing. I've just recently bought one (in no small part due to your vids). I was wondering if you have had dust collection issues. Just wondering if I need to put a base (wood or something else) onto my mobile base to help seal the cabinet give that on the base there is a good size gap which may affect the collection. on my model they have included a brochure explaining how not to fall for the "missing bolt effect". Great site and great vids, keep up the good work.

If you’ve got dust coming out the bottom the first thing I’d check would be that your hose clamps are tight enough. I get a little bit of dust down there but it’s not a lot. Just what manages to slip through the cracks.

I don't have a real issue with the dust. All my connections are tight. I was just wondering if there was any benefit to making a "floor" to go on the mobile base to maybe improve the efficiency of the vacuum. The dust generated all falls to the ground and is kept within the area of the base so it's no big deal just to clean it up after I've finished cutting. It would probably be less of a hassle to leave it because it looks difficult to have to lift the saw to get something under it, but then we all love a challenge.
I agree that Carbatec must have been paying attention and upped the quality of their instructions. Hopefully they can extend it to some of their other gear. I put together one of their router tables and it was 10% instruction and 90% guess work (not really but it felt like it at times) Also enjoyed your reviews on the jointer and thicknesser. I've had the same models for a couple of years and they work great.

Hi I just finished assembling my new saw. Apparently I got the last one in stock from Carbatec here in New Zealand. When I switch it on it runs and sounds great - that is until just before it stops it lets out a horrible grinding noise ! I recall that I read somewhere that someone else experienced this but I can’t find the post. Anyone able to help re this ?

Spoke to Carbatec . It seems the sound is something to do with motor switching and is in fact the same with my dust extractor when switched off and approaching full stop

Hi I’am waiting for theses saws to come back in stock (Sydney store ) so to go down and view, could you possibly tell me the width from left to right, whilst standing at the saw including the guide rail, only have 1-250mm room to fit it in the garage against the wall, so as to get my car in at the end of the day, don’t cut large sheet material, my dewalt contractor saw as a telescopic arm, but I do need to upgrade.

Thanks for checking out the video mate. The setup I have is about 1540mm from left to right, including the rails, and 990mm front to back including all the fence assembly.
The saw moves around easily on a bora mobile base to which could be handy for your setup!

Ah awesome to hear you got one Peter! Yeah the 5/8 can be hard to find. I run CMT blades, with a 30mm down to 5/8 reducer. You can grab the reducer from Carbatec.

If you check out my set up video mate (I linked it in this video) it covers everything. I filmed the pickup. Carbatec loaded it with a forklift into my tray, then I battled it out by myself haha. I’d recommend getting a mate to help though, it’s around 200kgs I think. I used a trolley to get it in. If you don’t film it though, you could unbox it in the tray. Would be way easier to remove. The bulk of the weight is in the wings. Remove those from the box and it’s easy!

Apologies for that Pat. The price varies greatly depending on which package and extras you get so that is why I left it out. There’s different fence options and different table sizes which changes the cost. I hope the rest of the video was helpful though 👍

Ah yes, it does take a minute to go 0-45. Makes fine tuning that angle really easy though because you’ve got a heap of movement there.
