@@thelittleshedproject6018 I put mine on one of those mobile base things, that really made the saw very quiet to operate with zero vibration. Unless I'm mistaken I think you have one lying on the floor in the video clip?.
Hi. Thanks for a great video. Very helpful. I am looking at buying this saw from Carbatec here in New Zealand . Generally seems to be well made, however towards the end of the video when you switched it on I was very surprised at how loud it sounded - not what I’d expected. Was that just a quirk of the recording? How would you describe it - ie would you need to use hearing protection. Thanks DC
It’s actually not too bad. I pretty much always use hearing protection no matter how long I’m using any machine but you could definitely use this without it for the odd cut here and there.
Hi. Thanks for your video, very helpful. I just assembled mine and noticed that both top lock nuts and setscrews of the fence rise over the table level. Is this your case as well? Is this how it's been designed, or is the tubular rail supposed to be lower? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks mate
G'day Again!, I Had to do abit of an adjustment to my saw the other day to re-align the miter slot to the blade. Had a quick squiz at the instructions and it seemed pretty straight forward, loosen the 4 table mounting bolts and tap with hammer in needed direction.... YEAH RIGHT!, the bloody thing didn't want to move so I tapped abit harder.... NOPE nothing. This went on for nearly 6 hours, even took the fence rail system and side table off to lighten the top thinking it must be too heavy, still didn't budge!. Not one to give up I got my torch out and took a look under the table to see why its not moving. To my shock I noticed two very small set screws one in the left corner and another in the right holding the table top in place. Theres no mention of these in the manual, so I'm wondering if you or anyone knows why they are there and are they needed?.
Hi Again mate, wondering if you could do me a favour, I've had some problems with the blade not spinning up to speed, looking inside where the motor is it looks like I have a bolt missing that is used to tighten the tension on the v-belt. Is there any chance you could send me a photo of the front motor?. - Thanks Sam
@@Littleshedjoinery Hi Phil, yeah I managed to work it out!. The manual failed to mention after removing the motor transport bracket you have replace one of the bolts, this is the tension bolt for the motor belt!!. Despite the manual not covering all aspects of the saw its still an excellent machine.
A bit dissappointing that you have to apply your own shims to level the wings. Many saws come with grub screws to level the wings to get it perfectly level not "pretty level". Prob steer clear of this brand I think as this sort of lack of engineering is not a good look for the brand. Thanks for the vid mate
You may be right about the grub screws but having done a heap of research is a minor annoyance at worst with all the reviews I have read including on specialist forums pretty positive. You have got me thinking though and think I will tap in some grub screws before I put my newly delivered unit together which should give me a much better long term solution as the masking tape solution they recommend seems a bit flimsy
Hi Andy, yep still happy with it and it’s still going strong. I’ve got a 1.5hp extractor and it’s definitely not enough so I’ll be getting something over 2hp soon. Still wish I’d got the regular fence and not the hi-low version.
Ben Farrell the main reason I don’t like it is that it’s basically useless if you want to use it for attaching jigs to like vertical jigs etc It’s basically a gimmick and unless you spend your whole time cutting really thin small pieces and specifically need the “low” mode I’d get the normal fence.
@@Littleshedjoinery Wish I'd read this a month ago, mine was delivered yesterday with the High- Low fence, anyhoo will put together over the weekend and see how it goes...may need to consider installing a standard fence if it creates issues although Carbatec don't appear to sell separately. Will mostly use for ripping so hopefully will do the job. Am using a 2HP dust extractor which does the job on my thicknesser and jointer so am sure will do likewise with the saw.
This Video has me very confused. You have an English accent, but I can't figure out if you live in the UK or NZ/AUS. If you do live in the UK, can you tell me where the Carbatec range of machines can be purchased thanks.
I clamped boards to the top underside to support the wings being attached by myself.
Hello fellow pom, got me one of these last month but only just found time to start assembly. Ta very much for taking the time to upload your video!.
No worries. Pleased to have helped.

Yep that’s right. Not sure how much difference it makes as I’ve only ever really run it whilst on the mobile base but I wouldn’t say it’s overly loud.
Thanks for the video, will help me breeze through mine when it arrives! Cheers
I wish to have this saw one day thanks for the video

Yep I think mine were the same.

Very frustrating indeed. No idea why they’re there but the fact that they’re not in the manual doesn’t surprise me at all. The manual sucks.

Hi there, sorry for the slow reply. Have you managed to solve this yet?

Yeah I remember the manual leaving much to the imagination but the saw works well enough. Glad you got it fixed.
