So someone offered to donate a huge sum to the Cancer Awareness Trust if Robert would sing Stairway -- and he did. First time in sixteen years. What a class act, and a very heartfelt performance. Beautiful moment.
Hi Owen. Michael J Fox has donated huge donates to Finnish Parkinson's Research (which we appreciate here in Finland) and also don't want to brag but cancer treatment here is more than good. And progessing all the time.
Haters just drive me crazy. One guy is dying from cancer and the other is 75. Its a benefit in a little venue. What the hell do you want!! This was awesome!!!
Exactly Robert has the right to perform the song to suit him now . If you just listen to his voice you know that he’s the original singer and not a cover artist.
@louissaraiva2296 From what I read that was the first time he sang that in 16yrs!! I thought it was outstanding!! Some people just like to hate just for the sake of hating.
3 years of battling same cancer (prostate cancer with metastasis/stage 4). It is extremely uplifting to see someone that has been through the treatment experiences we share and have the strength to be performing so well up on the stage again. You give me hope and inspiration to keep fighting everyday. Thank you Andy Taylor.
Being a Zep fan for 50 years, I can never tire of this song. And bravo to Robert to accept the fact that he can no longer hit the notes at the end of the song, and so improvised with a beautiful slowed down version. That would have actually sounded good 50 years ago too. Thank you Robert and Andy. Prayers to both for good health.
I think the "experience" listening to this song is lesser with that slowed down final... I can be OK with the lack of wind instruments at the beginning, the guitar version is OK, but the final must be like the original one. Jimmy Page's guitar solo was performed admirably by the unknown guitar player, I'm sure that choir lady or background singer lady would've been able to hit those high notes and give the audience and us watching three years later a closer experience to the original version.
Nicely said Rick. My sentiments exactly. Thank you, Robert. Thank you, Andy. I've been listening to you both since you guys started your own solo careers in 80's. Here's to good health.

His voice is still so distinctive and there is still a beauty in it. I saw Zep in the 70's and remember him singing this then. Such a classic. There will never be another band like them. Love it.
Robert Plant is bringing back a memory of days that have passed on. He's not 23 anymore. You can't expect it to sound like it did then. He wrote the lyrics. I love this song. God bless you Robert. You are a talent from the 70"s that will always resonate in my heart. ❤
Exactly. Too many people expect to hear the record they remember. I'd so much rather hear someone rework the song like this or not be able to hit all the notes but sing live a little differently with conviction than have a track playing or the singer just pointing to the crowd on all the high notes.
@@Scott__CIt's okay. Pretty soon AI will be able to mimic any singer at their peak in any style and the human element will be mostly gone. Everything will be glossy and perfect, and the masses will be oblivious that they've lost the part of music that really mattered, human authenticity.
Back in the 83 or 84, I was discovered Led Zep when I saw The Song Remains The Same at a cinema with my mum and became a huge fan. In 2018, I saw Robert play live and I saw it with mum. Mum passed away a couple of weeks ago and on the day I went to visit her in the hospital for the last time, I switched on the radio in the car and they had just started playing this song. I will always think of her now when I hear it.
My Dad was the biggest Led Zepplin fan, and idolised Robert. He died in 2022 and I've only just seen this, my first thought was to message him to show him. I still have his number so I still messaged him...but yeah. This hit me in all the feels...

He said he wanted NOTHING to do with Page because Zep music was like "dinosaur music...but he does Zep music with other musicians..Plant is a hypocrite. Huge Zep fan here too.
Firstly I think it sounds great.... Secondly, considering 12 months ago I (and I'm sure many) thought Andy was losing a losing battle and here he is on stage, playing, singing...Alive and rockin....that in itself is a gift. The treatment behind it is doubly amazing. I so hope we're at the cusp of finally making some serious breakthroughs and changing/saving lives. My favourite song performed by its author precisely on my Birthday. I'll take that as a personal gift. Thank you so many times, Mr. Plant, for making me happy like this. You still have the Golden God in you.
For being in his late 70's Robert Plants high range isn't as it used to be. But man he is still kicking ass in his lower range, for almost 80 I'm very impressed
Considering Andy's fight for his life, the ages involved here and the song is his, they have a right to play it anyway they want. Did you expect it to sound like the record? ❤ Just the fact that they did this is epic🎉
Thank you Robert for finally coming to terms with one of the greatest rock songs ever written. Many of us just love this song no matter how many times we’ve heard it. Great performance by all. I hope Mr Taylor continues to fight on for a very long time.

I guess I can understand the negative comments. If you came expecting something similar from decades ago, you were probably very disappointed. I was interested in how he would interpret the song now, as a more mature man who has seen and experienced more in the ensuing years. I was not disappointed. The song took on a more introspective feel. Also consider this was a live performance at a charity event. The audio was not mixed and cleaned up. I was happy to hear him sing it again after so long.
I thought the raw and intimate nature is what made it so amazing. In this age of cleaned up, autotuned, over processed performances, it's great to see something like this. I would take this over a huge concert any day. This is the type of performance true music lovers live for. I would have given just about anything to be in that room.

Very nice. Especially seeing Andy play and Plant with his unique voice. In the final seconds, it's thrilling to see the guitarist in the background almost crying with emotion. Beautiful video
Saw Led Zeppelin live in 1969 just prior to the release of their 2nd album. It was a concert I will never forget. They were in their top form and every note played and every octave reached was perfection. What a great memory!!
Robert Plant has been my favorite singer since my uncle gave me his entire Zeppelin album collection when i was a young teenager in the early eighties. Bravo my Rock God!
So wonderful to see Robert Plant on staging, he sounds wonderful! Hope he considers treating fans to these type of performances more often. Would be a real special treat if he made an appearance with Jimmy, JPJ, and Jason.
Still one of my favorite songs. Regardless of age, Robert Plant still evokes the same feelings out of me that I had the first time I heard this song so many years ago.
Even now Robert can still produce tones that made this song and Led Zepellin a worldwide icon. Even more, doing it for the benefit of the less fortunate. Well done, and thank you!
Wait....two of my three FAVORITE bands represented on stage together???? I'm IN HEAVEN!!! This...THIS...is a Perfect Day moment. Led Zeppelin!!!!! Duran Duran!!!! Robert Plant!!!!!! Andy Taylor!!!!
Each musician on that stage has a memory forever cemented in their minds, not only are they performing with one of the greatest singers in rock history which is an incredible honor for them. But to perform one of the greatest rock songs, and most likely the last time Plant will ever perform it. What a memory to have, and would look good on your resume. I would hope it's not the last time he will perform it. I think Page, Plant, and Jones could write a great acoustic album together never say never! Great rendition of stairway 😃

The last tour he did as a solo artist half his set is Zeppelin songs. He just doesn’t like this one.
@@jeffbair9069 Read much? You said Plant "doesn't like to do Led Zeppelin songs that often." I said he does Zeppelin every tour. Never said he did Stairway to heaven.
I love seeing this. I never thought I’d see Plant in a suit though. Times sure change everything.
Thanks for posting!
So happy to see Andy play guitar for Robert! We ❤ you Andy ♥️
There you have it. After all these years, one of the few guys on earth who wouldn't get thrown out of a music store for performing stairway to heaven.
Very nice. Especially seeing Andy play and Plant with his unique voice. In the final seconds, it's thrilling to see the guitarist in the background almost crying with emotion. Beautiful video
True
Bucket list moment for them. So cool to see the younger ones respect and honor this who came before them.
over 50 years ..this song touches me still
Saw Led Zeppelin live in 1969 just prior to the release of their 2nd album. It was a concert I will never forget. They were in their top form and every note played and every octave reached was perfection. What a great memory!!
I am so jealous of you😂
사랑해요 robert.
WoW! Robert Plant🎉🎉🎉
OMG!! Love the song! Love this version!! Robert Plant- -You are the man!!
THANKS ✌️
Brilliant!
Still one of my favorite songs. Regardless of age, Robert Plant still evokes the same feelings out of me that I had the first time I heard this song so many years ago.
Respect to Robert Plant....low profile rock.legend....
Brilliant! A West Midlands extraveganza! In my view two of the best things to come out of this area: Led Zeppelin and Duran Duran. Thank you!!
many thanks for this.
Guy Pratt on bass. He played for Pink Floyd in their later years. Three great bands represented.
@stephenmosgrove6559 wondering, who is your third favorite band?
@@traceyleeherrera5247 Pink Floyd
I have the same exact reaction. Very moving. Especially for the cause.
The Beatles
Great to see Andy doing well! Love you man!
精彩🎸由最高峰演繹過萬次經典名曲,直到今日80歲唱solo呢段冇氣😅又有另一風味,小弟由80年代認識你,到今日都係聽 Led Zeppelin !! (睇下有冇香港粉絲先)
Exelent musician's 👏👏👏👏
Brilliant of Robert Plant to emphasize the lyric at the end. Brought tears to my eyes...
Wow amazing to see these 2 together---I cannot believe how good Robert sounds...Great work by Andy and the other guitar player
What an absolute treat.. it had to take something special to bring Percy out to sing this again. And it was ..well done for doing this for such a good cause.. an interesting version and great for watching it was. Hats off to Robert Plant.
Best wishes to Andy...
Ya esta viejo mi cuate pero todavía llegan estas letras.
Much love and blessings to Robert Plant and Andy ♥️♥️
Magnificent, Magnífico, Marvelous, Maravilhoso, kisses from Brasil, beijos do Brasil, Robert Plant!!!!
He still sounds amazing! I was 13 when I discovered this song. It's been my go-to when I'm needing to relax. Thank you Robert Plant ❤
Love you sooooo much, grew up listening and continue in old age. Thank you for doing this
Well done Robert! This is an old saying... The gift that keeps on giving, and giving, and giving... Thank you for so much and much more to come. Much love.
I was brought to tears by this wonderful performance. Thank you for all the years of beautiful music, Robert. You have been and still are one of the greatest gifts to music.
