- Andy Taylor and Robert Plant performing 'Stairway to Heaven' at Soho Farm House on 21 October 2023 with Andrew James Taylor, David Palmer, Dino Jelusick, Guy Pratt, Goldray and Anne Rani. #ledzeppelin #robertplant #duranduran #andytaylor #stairwaytoheaven
So someone offered to donate a huge sum to the Cancer Awareness Trust if Robert would sing Stairway -- and he did. First time in sixteen years. What a class act, and a very heartfelt performance. Beautiful moment.
But we're already aware of cancer

Hi Owen. Michael J Fox has donated huge donates to Finnish Parkinson's Research (which we appreciate here in Finland) and also don't want to brag but cancer treatment here is more than good. And progessing all the time.
What a class act Robert is for doing this for Andy and patients suffering with cancer. ❤️
@outonthetiles I recently won my battle with stage four prostate cancer wasn’t pretty, but here I am 😊
Great to hear the golden god singing this beautiful melody again and what a fantastic rendition ❤
God bless❤️that can’t be an easy process brother
@@user-ri3gh6yb5k my goodness thank you for those kind words - they mean a lot!

Robert rocked in the 70's now he's rocking in his 70's

3 years of battling same cancer (prostate cancer with metastasis/stage 4). It is extremely uplifting to see someone that has been through the treatment experiences we share and have the strength to be performing so well up on the stage again. You give me hope and inspiration to keep fighting everyday. Thank you Andy Taylor.
Skin one in here ... Stay strong ...
Blessed be ❤
God bless you, brother 🙏

Being a Zep fan for 50 years, I can never tire of this song. And bravo to Robert to accept the fact that he can no longer hit the notes at the end of the song, and so improvised with a beautiful slowed down version. That would have actually sounded good 50 years ago too. Thank you Robert and Andy. Prayers to both for good health.
Ótimo comentário
None of us can hit the notes that we hit q half century ago.
I think the "experience" listening to this song is lesser with that slowed down final... I can be OK with the lack of wind instruments at the beginning, the guitar version is OK, but the final must be like the original one. Jimmy Page's guitar solo was performed admirably by the unknown guitar player, I'm sure that choir lady or background singer lady would've been able to hit those high notes and give the audience and us watching three years later a closer experience to the original version.
Nicely said Rick. My sentiments exactly. Thank you, Robert. Thank you, Andy. I've been listening to you both since you guys started your own solo careers in 80's. Here's to good health.
They could have lowered the note of the song. Anyway. It was excellent.
Robert Plant is bringing back a memory of days that have passed on. He's not 23 anymore. You can't expect it to sound like it did then. He wrote the lyrics. I love this song. God bless you Robert. You are a talent from the 70"s that will always resonate in my heart. ❤
My sentiments exactly! He will always be the best vocalist ever in my lifetime. 💯
Exactly. Too many people expect to hear the record they remember. I'd so much rather hear someone rework the song like this or not be able to hit all the notes but sing live a little differently with conviction than have a track playing or the singer just pointing to the crowd on all the high notes.
He has said it's a young man's song g
He is great 😊
@@Scott__CIt's okay. Pretty soon AI will be able to mimic any singer at their peak in any style and the human element will be mostly gone. Everything will be glossy and perfect, and the masses will be oblivious that they've lost the part of music that really mattered, human authenticity.
Total respect for Sir Robert Plant 👍
I never thought I'd see Robert perform this again, still as powerful as it has ever been. Maybe, even more so now who knows. Still brings a tear to my eye.
What? Are you on drugs? This was terrible and I'm a massive fan of led zep!!
Considering Andy's fight for his life, the ages involved here and the song is his, they have a right to play it anyway they want. Did you expect it to sound like the record? ❤ Just the fact that they did this is epic🎉
totally agree.....as I myself get older, I can appreciate this sentiment deeply.
I agree .... and I think the last time members of Led Zeppelin and DD were in the same show was at Live Aid in `85, wasn`t it???

His voice is still so distinctive and there is still a beauty in it. I saw Zep in the 70's and remember him singing this then. Such a classic. There will never be another band like them. Love it.

No, it never gets old. I get the same goosebumps too!
There you have it. After all these years, one of the few guys on earth who wouldn't get thrown out of a music store for performing stairway to heaven.

Haters just drive me crazy. One guy is dying from cancer and the other is 75. Its a benefit in a little venue. What the hell do you want!! This was awesome!!!
Exactly Robert has the right to perform the song to suit him now . If you just listen to his voice you know that he’s the original singer and not a cover artist.
@louissaraiva2296 From what I read that was the first time he sang that in 16yrs!! I thought it was outstanding!! Some people just like to hate just for the sake of hating.
Shawn - Well said 🙏🏼🤘🏼
This is a very special moment as far as I'm concerned. Robert and Andy being part of this. Go luck Andy in your journey to better health. God bless.
I agree. Who could hate this played well and for a good cause haters are ridiculous!!!!
Robert's a class act who keeps evolving as a musician. It's great to see him still around and still relevant. No plastic surgery and no autotune. Well done, Percy!
He said he wanted NOTHING to do with Page because Zep music was like "dinosaur music...but he does Zep music with other musicians..Plant is a hypocrite. Huge Zep fan here too.

My favourite song performed by its author precisely on my Birthday. I'll take that as a personal gift. Thank you so many times, Mr. Plant, for making me happy like this. You still have the Golden God in you.
Back in the 83 or 84, I was discovered Led Zep when I saw The Song Remains The Same at a cinema with my mum and became a huge fan. In 2018, I saw Robert play live and I saw it with mum. Mum passed away a couple of weeks ago and on the day I went to visit her in the hospital for the last time, I switched on the radio in the car and they had just started playing this song. I will always think of her now when I hear it.
What great memories to have of your mum , and what a great song to have that deep connection to

So great to see Andy not only still with us, but performing!
Agreed!

Love to see him playing ❤

Who the hell is saying this sounds bad? I mean for what it is, it sounds amazing!
Firstly I think it sounds great.... Secondly, considering 12 months ago I (and I'm sure many) thought Andy was losing a losing battle and here he is on stage, playing, singing...Alive and rockin....that in itself is a gift. The treatment behind it is doubly amazing. I so hope we're at the cusp of finally making some serious breakthroughs and changing/saving lives. Every life lost to this point has pushed us to dream of a day when Cancer is a hurdle not a war.
I would not be one to say it sounds bad. Robert Plant sounds great - so awesome to hear him sing this in 2023, but there are a few glaring “wrong turns” taken by instrumentalists. Perhaps they didn’t rehearse this, I don’t know. But I think if I were ever in a band playing with ROBERT PLANT(!!), I would make sure we all knew the road map in order to be playing the same chords. It’s just surprising how loose this is in that regard. But hey, nobody could complain that this was over-rehearsed.
Danielblaise: Thanks for mentioning that. A selfish, spoilt and rude individual posting several nasty comments here about Robert!
I think it sounds great, people have to realize he hadn’t did this song for over 15 years. Just to be hearing it now, is a treat. He could’ve just hummed it and I would’ve been happy with THAT!
A lot of people have no ears for anything other than a very produced pop track.
I can't believe I still get to see and hear this epic song again, sung by the amazing Robert Plant, 50 years after I first saw them play it live at Trentham Gardens, absolutely awesome, and still giving me chills All these years later, Robert, Andy, YOU ABSOLUTELY ROCK! 👍❤️
Thanks for the song and donation for cancer!! Robert Plant is legendary!
See 50 years later he can still interpret the music his way and it's beautiful every time. Thank you sir Robert. I'm a fan forever

That little crowd got one hell of a treat. Bravo. 🤩
For being in his late 70's Robert Plants high range isn't as it used to be. But man he is still kicking ass in his lower range, for almost 80 I'm very impressed
Thank you, Robert, and best wishes to Andy. I appreciate your doing this for cancer awareness. My daughter is currently mid-way in her treatment for cancer. I love this song. It's a classic that I have loved since the first day it came out.
OMG!! Love the song! Love this version!! Robert Plant- -You are the man!!
Andy Taylor is currently dying from stage 5 prostate cancer and is doing damn we’ll just to be up there playing. Can we have some respect for that and keep the troll comments out of it please? 🙏
I first heard Robert sing this live in 1972 and it blew me (and everyone else) away. Hearing it tonight was no different, that song has its own presence and majesty that can't be dimmed by the mere passing of time.

Thanks for posting!
The way Robert Plant occasionally holds his mic and mic lead is so reminiscent of his younger days performing in the 70’s. You can take the rocker out of rock but you can’t take the rock out of the rocker!
Your not a rocker at 75 like he’s voice it’s gone.

The 'lead guitarist' is Kenwyn House, formerly of Reef and now in the band Goldray. One of the UKs most underrated guitarists. He kept the guitar to killer riffs with Reef (that subsequent guitarists cant actually emulate unfortunately). With Goldray now he's showing us how technically gifted he is with some mind-blowing solos. He's a hug Zep fan and this probably fulfilled a lifelong dream for him I would guess, hence the emotion
Didn’t Andy tour with Reef as an extra guitarist as well?
In total agreement with this. 2 of my absolute faves with Planty and Kenwyn on one stage!!!!

Best wishes to Andy...
I was brought to tears by this wonderful performance. Thank you for all the years of beautiful music, Robert. You have been and still are one of the greatest gifts to music.
I guess I can understand the negative comments. If you came expecting something similar from decades ago, you were probably very disappointed. I was interested in how he would interpret the song now, as a more mature man who has seen and experienced more in the ensuing years. I was not disappointed. The song took on a more introspective feel. Also consider this was a live performance at a charity event. The audio was not mixed and cleaned up. I was happy to hear him sing it again after so long.
Brilliant! A West Midlands extraveganza! In my view two of the best things to come out of this area: Led Zeppelin and Duran Duran. Thank you!!
