I feel a right to comment. At 79. I’ve seen a lot of the great music of the last couple of generations. As long as young people like this are giving honor to their past, I too have hope for the future.
Jim Turner is one of the finest people I worked for/with in my 33 years at work. He is so down to earth, easy to talk to and generous. His extremely talented son Josh, appears to have the same qualities as his dad. On this video he started with a classic song, shared the spot light, and picted the right people to produce a fine video. Very cool, very cool
This was like opening a Christmas present, loving what was inside, and then the person who gave it to you said, "Keep digging: there's more." And everything else you open makes the surprise and your joy escalate higher. And you would have been happy with the first present, but by the time you open the last box you are beyond gratitude.
Actually got a little teary eyed there at the end. I guess that's exactly what music is supposed to do. I've never met you and probably never will, but your channel makes me really happy. So thanks... I dunno, thanks for existing.
I'm an old guy who was in his teens when the original came out, this rendition takes a great song and makes it even better. great representation of the original and innovative new tweak. our music is in good hands after all.
Beautifully said. Same thing happened with me. And hey, never say never about meeting Josh - I met him in a very small European country, where I live, in a tiny music bar Prulcek (this year, when he was touring with Reina and Toni), shook his hand after a signing of his pre-released CD and even got a chance to talk to him a little bit. Ofcourse, he is as humble and kind in person as he is in his music collaborations. A wonderful, wonderful young man.

OK Josh, I have been a long time fan and supporter but you just took things to the next level with this release. Every single person you featured in this video deserves to be recognized and heard by the masses. You all did this classic right on so many levels that I can't even begin to describe how righteous this is. You took a transcendent classic, honored it and then reinvented it. Not only did you capture the essence of the original but you also made it your own, this is simply genius. I have said it to you before and I will say it again, Yes, Just Yes. Please just keep doing what you are doing and please keep supporting all of those around you. I don't care if the mainstream ever gets it, this is truth, this is music that I want to teach my kids to appreciate, this is just right. Well done my friend, thank you for being you and thank you to all of your friends for being amazing, you are blessed to have these people around you. All the best...
+nimsley Well said. I humbly would like to add; The whole is greater than the sum of its parts, so thank you to each and every one. I would regret missing any part of this.
I'm a visual artist & come into contact with many talented people, but never in my wildest dreams could I ever hope to come into contact with this many exceptionally talented people & know them well enough to call them friends in such a short amount of time. Josh, the talent displayed here is beyond amazing. Thanks to your mom & dad for challenging you to do something worthwhile with your life & also for their incredible support of such an awesome talent to provide the experiences & education to make this all possible. You've brought joy, inspiration & hope for the future to so very, very many. Thanks to you for introducing me and everyone else to so many excellent musicians. People less humble would have taken the spotlight only for themselves. You have done just the opposite & it makes me incredibly proud to be your aunt. I'll always be a fan.
I've listened to this so many times & it never ceases to put a smile on my face. It's an excellent arrangement, performance, recording and editing, but it is also an excellent history of Josh's musical journey to date. It's a mood lifting "go to" for me!
I love the jazz vibe with the "Chester" verse. In fact, I love how each verse has it's own vibe--country, bluegrass, a bit of reggae, jazz, and classical. Outstanding!
The joy I feel in hearing the next generation pick up the tunes written in my time is so special. I can't wait to hear what these young artists create on their own to carry the torch forward.
I just did a UA-cam search and found her in several videos with Josh, but can't find her channel. That can't be right. She uses a different name on UA-cam, is that the reason?
Hi Josh, I have over the last 6 months been listening to everything I can find that you have posted. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed listening to you and your friends make music. Your ability to articulate over such a range of styles and instruments is really extraordinary. And the people you make music with like Alex, Larkin, Amber, Taylor, Carston and all the others are just so talented and wonderful to listen to. Thank you very much for all of these performances. Sincerely, George Marshall
Joshua Lee Turner ! You're a great musician and you are surrounded by great people ! Your family, your partner Kelly, Carson and all your friends appeared ! This is great ! Thank you ! I can't thank you enough !
Amazing! Congratulations Josh, thank you and the Armada, Larkin, and a cast of hundreds. I am just another that will only be able to say thank you to you for enriching my life in a little way. You are a great addition, I'm so happy I found you, thanks again Josh... Buddy Martin
Would y'all just quit blowin' my hair back? I'm damned near BALD! F*ckin UNREAL. I've watched it five times running, and it takes, my breath away EVERY time. The pure perfect boatload of true talent, the joy, the fun, the collaboration, the warmth and the love. Oh! And the music!
I've lost count of the number of times that I've watched this video. Brilliantly executed. But most of all....the talents on display here! Simply out of this world. Nevermind American Idol. Never mind America's Got Talent. Here are real talents singing and playing beautifully, joyously and sincerely. I will never get tired of all of you.
I do not know how anyone could give this a thumbs down unless they are jealous. All this young talent performing a classic from The Band and doing it exceptionally well. What's there to not like?
You have outdone yourselves younguns. This group of talented young people, led by Josh, helps to stave of that feeling I get every once in a while that the future of our country is totally fucked.
O.M.G. - Never known such a fantastic bunch of musicians in one place at the same time - it's "the dogs bollocks" and the "ducks nuts" all rolled into one - absolutely fantastic F.T. in Eastbourne U.K.
Literally. I cried all the way thru this. Don't do ANYTHING but music man. You'll regret it if you give up your talents in search of some sort of implied "practicality." The world is changing. It's a beautiful time. Be you. Do this.
This old Country Picker is OVER JOYED ta' see and hear SO MANY beautiful Talented Young People step up with no electric gadgets and produce such a Wonderful Sound as you did . The Future of Music is in Good Hands , STANDING OVATION FOR ALL !
I have enjoyed your music for years, Josh. You have so much talent, I've told so many of my friends about you, The Other Favorites, Coyote Armada, duets with your Dad, Larkin, how you've surrounded yourself with so many talented people as you went to college... quite nice. This is what the internet is for :) Looking forward to the coming years!
Josh, I've been enjoying your channel since I stumbled upon it by sheer luck a month or so back. This song, though ... This is my very favorite song of all time, and you and your friends (and family too, looks like!) made me cry. You have a new Patreon patron today. :) I've had so many magical moments in my life connected to this song -- from hearing the Grateful Dead play it for only the third time ever, and me dissolving into tears, to hearing the legendary Czech folk-rock band Marsyas sing it in Prague in '96, in Czech! This was another magical moment. Thank you.
I love it - what a wonderful compilation of talent with a beautiful rendering of a classic song. Thanks-you, Josh, and all those who participated! Blessed Be!
That's a sweet way to commemorate 10M views, and it's typical that you were so generous with screen time to feature all your musical collaborators. Keep it up!
Holy expletive! Traditional arrangement to a Jazz arrangement to a String Quartet /Classical kind of arrangement to a mosh up with all the vocals and different parts from every arrangement ..... Holy expletive that was great!
Watch your phraseology!! (Eegods) ... Sorry, my daughter's in a HS production of the Music Man, so we've been watching that a lot around the house. Holy expletive, indeed.
Loved the Music Man. I sang in the Barbershop Quartet, and danced, in my High School production. Hope your daughter enjoys the experience as much as I did.
I'm a new fan 3 days. I wanna say thanks for sharing all the different videos & the hard work put into them, I have never been so entertained. I am 63 yrs old. Please keep on doing your "thang"
Thanks to you Josh for providing all of us, your fans, with so much excellent music. This took some extensive effort, but you pulled it off & it is wonderful! Congratulations on 10,000,000 views but if you look a bit closer, you already have about a half a million more! The skies the limit!
One word...WOW. Amazing arrangement with a cast of some super talented folks. Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel and Robbie Robertson - otherwise known as 'The Band' would be proud! Thank you for making my Saturday morning...
These big mashups usually sound so cluttered but shit man, this is killer. It sounds perfect, the visuals and description hits you right in the feels, and it just makes me happy. I know this is an older video but I just wanted to say thanks for the inspiration and good feels when I needed it.
I know this was done a while back, but there is just an incredible amount of talent here! I think it is great how you share the light with all these other young people. Thanks for a great video song.
This might sound really strange, but this track actually made me tear up. I am not one of the musicians, but I have been following Josh's work for a long time. Many of these guests themselves conjure up memories of videos that mean much to me as well. You are a remarkable person doing remarkable work, Josh. I am immensely proud of you and I don't even know you personally. Carry on, please, with this incredible work.
A classic song, a classic re-invent by a new classic and what have you got? A masterpiece. Real music. Like an American Playing For Change. Excellent! Keep up the excellent work!
That is one of the very best videos on the planet. Obviously, this was a compo of folks from numerous places all putting their everything into a group effort that spanned a good deal of time and space to ultimately come together into one harmonious voice. The result is fantastic. The editing was superb. The sound is ridiculously rich and professional. It couldn't have come off any better. Kudos my friend. Kudos....
I keep wondering what you guys are going to do next and you never disappoint. Simply amazing! What a talented group of people you are surrounded by. Never stop!
Amazing...just spent the last hour watching your videos Josh. +eatonjohnrobert has already eloquently and brilliantly expressed what I felt this past hour...the world is not full of hate and violence...I see the beauty and joy of life in you, your friends and your music!
Who'd have thought you could put a backbeat jazz interlude deconstruct into The Weight; there it was, flawless, and then a final homage to a Southern tradition, so touching...
Josh, you've always been an inspiration to me, the way you have brought together this vast community is exactly what music is supposed to be. So thankyou for changing our lives sir, much admiration for your talents and hard work.
WOW WOW WOW !!! You are truly a genius Josh. How on earth you managed to mix all of that together is beyond me (both video and audio). LOVED the jazz section (inspired).
I have never written a comment to you before but I really liked all of your covers. And every incarnation your group has had. But I have to tell you I like this one the best. Thank you for all the great music ! When the world comes back, please let me know if you're ever performing in Phoenix.
Josh, Very touching and thoughtful to include so many other members of your videos throughout the years. But, after seeing your Martins displayed so often with the occasional Fender, Gitane, or Cordoba, Josh decides to whip out the little seen Taylor 810-CE to play on such a monumental video. I'm guessing it was the one at your parent's house? All is forgiven :) How cool to have your formative musical career documented! It's kind of like what it would have been like if Paul Simon or James Taylor had been able to post musical videos of their youth. A mutual thank you.
Josh! Bonjour! Vous êtes absolument merveilleux! I just discovered you on UA-cam a short while ago. I am absolutely loving your covers! You are so talented! I don't have any musical talents! When I sing people's ears bleed! So, thank you for sharing your talent! Wishing you health, safety, and happiness during these COVID-19 times! Merci! 🇨🇦
AWESOME, Josh!!! I'm so sad, that I wasn't able to see you in Munich on 10th Aug. ..... you are such a great musician!! And even producer! This is really awesome! I love you all ... Best regards from Kempten (Allgäu) / Germany
That was spectacular! It was especially enjoyable since I'm probably one of your few fans who enjoyed "The Weight" when it was first released by The Band.
Unbelievable... The Playing for Change version was always my favourite I mean it’s incredible, but this reminded me so much! Just as good, amazing job all!!!
It was very enjoyable for me to watch all the talent young folk (most are American?) in this video playing a Canadian classic with so much heart. Up here we feel like our cultural exports rarely make it down to y'all, so it warms the heart. Keep up the great playing and singing everyone!
New fan, Wow, new, fresh, arrangements of the sound track of my life's journey, thanx for sharing turned and friends! PS... the UA-cam anthology of your journey, priceless
The little gal's smile in the blue top at 1:50 made my day. It was the most beautiful thing I seen this week. I think I will save this video and come and watch her smile when I need to feel better about this world. At least for a while anyway. I know this video was made five years ago. I hope the world has treated her well and that she has reason to smile still..... Actually I hope all of these kids at the time, are still making music and making people smile. God bless the lot of them.
At 65, to be 66 in 4 day's, your playing all the music I listened to growing up. I'd like to say that I have enjoyed you guy's and girl's better than the original music. Smooth, great vocal's, great play'n the music. A Big Thank You. Keep it up and thank you. Mike Santore, West Melbourne Florida.
New subscriber. Been listening to your tunes most of the afternoon and really enjoyed myself. I did this video very much; it reminds me of the Playing for Change videos which is often done in a similar style. Best to all the talented artists gathered on the various stages wherever they may be.
Look at you. Doing the zoom 4 years before we had to figure it out.
8 years later and still listening 😊
Always my favorite The Band song. This goes way beyond any arrangement I’ve ever heard. Amazing! Thank you Josh and fellow musicians!! 👍👍👍👍
Every now and then I get a feeling of hope for our future.

Dave Josh is soo entertaining soo talented his dad Jim must have really been something.I am soo glad to know about Jim Turner.Thank's God bless.
What a treat to finally "meet" Josh's dad. I knew there had to be a great supportive family behind him!
Seems to say a lot about you too Dave! I somehow thought Josh's father (or mother) was a doctor, gauging from his vocabulary.
according to Josh, his parents took away his playstation at age 13 for 2 weeks and said get another hobby, THANK YOU mr and mrs turner

And since today a wonderful salute to the late, great Robbie Robertson
The young lady that comes in at 3:58 has an awesome voice! The whole thing is beautiful, but her voice stood out to me.
That's Larkin! She's amazing.

What an amazing ensemble of fabulous vocalists! WOW! (And instrumentalists, too, of course…). Fabulous work, Josh.
Josh, you've always been an inspiration to me, the way you have brought together this vast community is exactly what music is supposed to be. So thankyou for changing our lives sir, much admiration for your talents and hard work.
Wow wow wow!! All of you are amazing! Always love to hear Larkin sing that was a bonus
WOW WOW WOW !!! You are truly a genius Josh. How on earth you managed to mix all of that together is beyond me (both video and audio). LOVED the jazz section (inspired).
Every time I replay this one I wish I could click LIKE again. A great piece of work by all involved!
What a nice present. So talented y'all. Let us say THANK YOU!!🥰
I have never written a comment to you before but I really liked all of your covers. And every incarnation your group has had. But I have to tell you I like this one the best.
Thank you for all the great music !
When the world comes back, please let me know if you're ever performing in Phoenix.
Josh,
Very touching and thoughtful to include so many other members of your videos throughout the years. But, after seeing your Martins displayed so often with the occasional Fender, Gitane, or Cordoba, Josh decides to whip out the little seen Taylor 810-CE to play on such a monumental video. I'm guessing it was the one at your parent's house? All is forgiven :)
How cool to have your formative musical career documented!
Merci!

Thank you for making this old man smile. Well dne.
What a fantastic group of musicians. And thank you to the recording and editing artists. No small task.
everytime I listen to these, my heart swells and I have only hope for humanity. I love you guys!!! Thank you!
AWESOME, Josh!!! I'm so sad, that I wasn't able to see you in Munich on 10th Aug. .....
you are such a great musician!! And even producer! This is really awesome! I love you all ... Best regards from Kempten (Allgäu) / Germany
This was so heartwarming. Great to see and hear so much talent from all of you!
Simply beautiful. Thank you for this.
That was spectacular! It was especially enjoyable since I'm probably one of your few fans who enjoyed "The Weight" when it was first released by The Band.
Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much
Wow awesome video. One of my favorite songs. Really cool.
Fantastic! You all nailed it! This is right up there with Robbie Robertson's Playing for Change version - both wonderful compilations!
Just saw this. Loved it. You are all talented and very fun to listen to. Great job putting it together.
oh my, that violin and little guitar combo solo at 2:20 is ridiculously good!
The 'little guitar' is called a mandolin
I agree completley. Epic.
Violins and mandolins sound fantastic together because they're tuned the same. Such a great combo.
Woman's voice at 3:56 hit me. WOW what a pretty voice. Keep up the montages, love this song and this version.
Didn't even have to look. Knew who you meant. Larkin always kills it!
Her name is Larkin. She's been in many videos with Josh.

60 Plus tone deaf Ulsterman I just happened across this performance absolutely wonderful so many talented young people bravo😀
New subscriber. Been listening to your tunes most of the afternoon and really enjoyed myself. I did this video very much; it reminds me of the Playing for Change videos which is often done in a similar style. Best to all the talented artists gathered on the various stages wherever they may be.
