@@KelLauren AAWWW YOU REPLIED THAT JUST MADE MY DAY 🥺💗
Poggers!
@@ScoopOfButter LMFAOOOOOO
@@ScoopOfButter there's just this overly wholesome stuff going on and then you just come with "poggers!" 💀 I love you for that
I'm sad you didn't go with the tomato pattern in the background. I think it would have been helpful to non English speakers to have it. Because right now, all the labels are exactly the same, the only way you tell the soups part is by the name of the soup. By having little iconography of symbols representing what it is, you don't need to know the word you can just look for the symbol on the pattern. Also easier to just see which soup it is at a glance.
I thought the pattern was super cute and accessible too, I was sad to see it didn’t make it into the final design!
That's so cool! I wish that kind of design was more common!
It would be great for people who have a hard time reading as well.
Yeah, our labels are different, I find Canadian Campbells labels are very visual, they usually show the type of soup right on the label, with beans, or noodles and chicken, or tomato, etc. it helps to find what ur looking for straight away
I love how people prefer soup over Billie Eilish merch. Ooh the green hair.
u should do a “my _____ followers design a brand” like you could do polls for the product, the vibe, the color pallette, the name of the brand, etc and then you design a brand/product packaging! like so kel can see 🥰
Omg amaziiing idea, I neeeeed to see this :)
I love this! That would be so much fun to watch.
OMG YES
love the colors and thought behind this but on a store shelf you’d never be able to actually read the entire name it would just look like a blob
Yeah, there's not enough contrast on the wordmark, which could easily turn this into an utter disaster for people trying to identify what it is. Don't forget about people who are dyslexic...
That’s why you could only do this with a legacy brand like Campbell’s and not a brand that’s new to the market.
@@jillypepper_ Yes, but it's a double-edged sword. The colors are consistent, which is nice- but you also have to worry about the demographics. It's a soup company, there's gonna be super-wide demographics. You risk alienating a lot of people for the sake of aesthethic- because it's not the product itself that's changing, it's the brading and packaging.
@@TornaitSuperBird Of course lol. That’s why these are just for fun and completely subjective.
Yeah the logo was made outa soup aesthetic is not good for sales
this is lovely, but im not a fan of how thiccccc the logotype is. had a little trouble reading it
Some people like it thicc, lol, but I agree. 😅 It felt... kind of... drippy or something, like limp noodles that are dripping cheese. Which might not be misplaced, given the product, but also wasn't visually appetizing for me. I liked the thicker drop shadow because for a minute it made the actual text look less thick, but alas! 😂 I love the color palettes and most of the other choices (the line through that little bit of overhanging P was buggin me, lol, it messed with the illusion of it kind of jumping off the can), but the Cambell's of it all was what got me!
The colours choices are so pleasing and I like how it flows together. The fact you can't read the whole name would be an issue though.
i think it would be a problem if it wasn't one of the most recognisable brands in the world, but with Campbell I'll give her a pass lol
I disliked the idea at first, but at least in a non-pandemic world, the idea of picking it up to read it is intruiging. Are you more likely to buy an item if you pick it up? I think so. So prompting you to pick it up is a good marketing move, a trick. So that grew on me. It's similar enough to the original to make you think, "Wait, is that *Campbell's?"* but unsure enough to pick it up and look. Sneaky! 😅
@@Sofia-re3hj for people who would be new to the us its not very recognised
@@theguitar_diaries i mean, im not from the US, but i know the brand because of andy warhol. it's kind of an usamerican staple worldwide tbh maybe not coca-cola level but close enough
@@Sofia-re3hj I've never seen the brand in my life, but I guess some people have. Where im from though I don't think its a well known thing.

Rip
Well, he's DEAD jidapa! And I know you miss him and I know it was an accident and I know you're in pain and I wish could take that away for you. I WISH I could shield you from the knowledge that you did what you did, but Andy Warhol is DEAD! He's gone forever! And what a waste... if it could've maybe brought us together, or something, if you could've just said "I'm sorry" or faced up to what happened, maybe then we could do something with this, but you can't take responsibility for anything! So, now I can't accept. And I can't forgive. Because... because NOBODY admits anything they've done!
Didn’t know I’d learn Campbells soup is two years younger than Canada in this video
"the company was started in 1869, nice."

The line crossing the P is giving me anxiety hahaha, but honestly this design is one my favorites of yours. The golden stamp, and the edit in green.. are EVERYTHING!
SAME I came to the comments to see if anyone said this
YESSS it was buggin me! 😂 It looks like it's jumping off the can, but the line through the P really disrupts the illsion. If it's supposed to look more printed, like the stamp, then I'd not do the drop shadow. But having both is... visually confusing for me. I love the angle of the split, think it's highly effective, but that was bugging me! I'm so happy I'm not alone! 😭
*mumbles* "hopefully it doesn't look like shiiittt...." - thoughts from every designer, everywhere.
All I think of is that vine- “Pronouncing things incorrectly” when he says “Cam P BELLS” 😂
I love watching how you'd tackle redesigning merch for singers, common product brands, and retail chains. Have you ever thought of redesigning the logos for common kids' shows, cartoons, or anime? Shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Sailor Moon, One Piece, Dragonball Z, Looney Tunes, Yu-Gi Oh!, Power Rangers, etc.? That could be very interesting!
If I was at the store looking for soup, this design would confuse me. The brand is illegible without rotating the can.
I'm sorry but this one is kind of iffy, logo wouldn't scale very well at all, hard to read as is, and wraps around the can so you just see Tomato Soup.
I think you know all this, but, always scamp up your ideas before getting on the Mac. Number one rule! As for the design, The typeface for the brand is too thick, the letters aren’t evenly spaced making it hard to read. Because it’s hand drawn it clashes with the actual typefaces and doesn’t have synergy. I also think there is a lot of negative space making the overall design feel awkward due to it being at an angle. You have used more that 2 typefaces, which is generally a no-no, and I’m not sure the typefaces you have used compliment each other. But The most important thing of all, you can’t read the logo because it’s too big on the label! 🤦🏻♂️
Cool project idea but unfortunately i think you missed the mark. if you revisited it and looked at the layout you could defo get something better out of it. Needs more crafting and refining in my opinion. 👍🏻
I completely agree.
let's not forget the awful the 1975's merch, pls kel do a favor to the world and redesign it
While I'm not a fan of the redesign, its hard to rebrand anything like this and I commend you for tackling something so iconic.
i’ve just started watching i hope she turns this into an artisanal-looking soup
"i'm soup-er excited" hehehehe ....
These videos are so informative and entertaining and honestly just a whole mood. Much love Kel!
how the hell does kel make EVERYTHING look good,, her hair, her makeup, etc
& not to mention her designs, which are so cool and inspiring
That was really cool, good job! The only thing I would change is the fact that the name brand isn’t readable at first glance due to it wrapping completely around the mock-up. Brands are really proud of their names. I think Campbell is a family name too. So I would like to see the brand name be a bit smaller so that you can see the majority of it when the label is attached to the can. Fun choice on having the different flavors as different colors.
I wish you great success! 😃⭐️❤️🌈🧜🏼♀️👍
my halloween plans just got cancelled due to the second lockdown so seeing this has made my day 100% better
Why you making plans during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. There’s a reason is worse now than it’s ever been. Because people keep making plans. Jeezus, get a life and stay the fuck at home
Dont you think it’s better to be able to read the full brand name when you looking straight at the can? Cause with your redesign you can just read « bell » or « camp » on the selves
you should redesign the merch of an artist you don't like
no one:
literally . no one:
kel: hmmm not mad about that at all
Wow I really like the redesign!!! I have to say I was kind of concerned when you chose Campblell cause its so iconic and "timeless" but you did a great Job!!
And did anyone else heart jump when we saw the burger king logo?? (lo-key my favorite one)

My Halloween just got 10 times better! Grabbing my morning coffee and will be putting my feet up with my cat to watch this.
Really cool how your final redesign turned out, Kel! It's always fun seeing the final product on mockups too. Also, I liked how informational you were explaining some of the technical steps you took in Illustrator. Great work!
I voted for this but I was apprehensive given how near perfect it already is. but I should never have doubted you. Great job!
THEY’RE BACK WITH ANOTHER DESIGN WOOOO
The concept was quite ok but was not properly executed. Logo for campbell is not readable defeating the whole process of redesigning hence other people prefer the original concept.
PLEAAAASE share more editing/tech tips! It’s like a magician explaining their trick🙌🏼🙌🏼
It would be cool to see you design a book cover!
Is this soup for my family tho?
20:14 was the best design decision of this video. Moving the red line below the text looks so much better. Love how it turned out
agreeeeeeee!
A super cool idea and beginning. Although you really lost me when you over stroked "Campbells" to a nearly unreadable level.
Wait what? Who said they don't like long intros? I love them. AND A DEFINITE YES FOR THE TECHNICAL STUFF.
I would absolutely love some technical videos!! I got Photoshop pretty recently and it'd be so cool to learn some of that from you and not just random men on youtube
High Recommendation: Tomato Soup Cake. Campbell has a recipe on their website. Its really good, kind like a carrot cake of a spice cake. Don't knock it until you try it.
Honestly the color green for the chicken noodles soup is very unappetizing. Reminds me of puke lol. But yeah i think you missed the mark with this one.
Maybe a bit out there but you could redesign musical logos/playbills? I would LOVE to see you redesign the Falsettos playbill because I already love it so much, but you could go with something a bit more well known like The Phantom of the Opera
I thought it looked great. The only thing is I thought the Campbells font look too thick it almost looked goopy like is was melting or driping and it was hard too read. But regardless It looks great.
That was interesting, but... I'm dismayed that so much current design is using cutting edge tools to make things look worn or hand made or to give fake patina. Also, that Campbell's type is too thick - almost illegible. Just an opinion.
Would you ever consider redesigning the ESA logo? Ist just looks so boring in comparison to the NASA logo...the wasted potential is driving me insane
The most important part of canned goods packaging is the face that is visible to the consumer when it's on the shelf. For this redesigned label, consumers would have to twist the can around to find the brand name, size of can, and the 'condensed' notation. The type is too thick... almost illegible.
Hmm I feel like the font choice for the Campbell is very hard to read and starts to look like a blob but there are some nice elements on the can. I also feel like when designing a label or packaging for a product, it's important that the logo can be seen immediately especially when you see it on the shelf.
If I saw this on the shelf, you can't read Campbells (you either read it as "Camp" or "Bell" which I find strange) because it stretches across the entire can vs the original that places it intentionally so that it can be read immediately when facing outward on the shelf. Then one side of the label has a lot of visual elements, and then the other side seems empty so I feel like there is a bit of inconsistency.
But it's interesting to see how you work. What I am noticing is that you have this very groovy retro design style and it seems to be translating to all your redesigns so it might be nice to see more versatility since the brands you are redesigning do not have the same retro feel, values, etc.
I have to say, your color sense is so on point. Every single time I see your swatches, I fall in love with the palette.
It looked like you took it back even more, I thought you were trying to bring it up to date?
Everything old is new again.
Wait you can organize Pinterest boards?? Why did I not know that! 👀👀 I feel cheated.
So cool. Though I don't like the fact that you can't actually read it without rotating the can. Seems like that would be awful on a shelf.
THE MAKEUP. THE HAIR. THE EARRINGS. THE TALENT. omg i can't handle how happy the vibes here are!! :D
HELL YEAH, just what i needed
Andy Warhol did not paint the Campbell's soup can. He screen-printed it. I only say this because as a printmaker I vow to educate more people on the art. And I always hear people say he was a painter... sorry mini-rant over.
What is screen printing?
@@GabrielsLogic It’s a photographic art process that uses ink, photo emulsion, and screens to create an image. A screen is essentially a tightly woven fabric that allows ink to pass through. This process is most closely associated with other forms of stencil art. While it is closely associated with painting, I would argue that it is not painted. However, artists such as Banksy use stencil processes and are considered painters because of the method used to apply the medium.
@@RachelRummage ohhh thanks for explaining 🤓
i dig it, maybe the campbelles font is a little too thick for readability
I love your haircut!!
2:53 The Universal Exposition is an international exposition which took place for the first time in 1851. In 1900, it's the fifth time that Paris hosts the event. It's a well known event in the whole world because it permitted to discover many innovations and artworks. It also brought international attention to the Art Nouveau style. It was a really influent event because it revealed the new trends to follow to all the artists of the century. La Grande Roue de Paris, la Tour Eiffel, the Statue of Liberty, the Atomium (in Brussels)... and many more, were all built for these events. In 1900, Campbell's Soup won a gold medal for their invention. That's why they decided to integrate the medal to the design of their packaging, as a guarantee of quality.
PS : Sorry for my english I'm french!
Your English is fine, no worries :) it isn't my first language either lol. Reading this reminded me of Art History classes like 3 years ago :') thank you
I LOVE this design so much, the only thing is the campbells text is too blobby for me and hard to read (especially zoomed out):/ but damn u killed this!

POV: you're watching the sunset with a cool girl you like while out camping. You're about to eat soup.
Hahaha true 🙂
So you can see exactly where your design falls flat once you apply it to the can. The original packaging makes sure that the name brand is visible when the cans are pointing forward on the shelf. You've made the typography so huge that you can no longer read the name.
when u just designing and see kel post so u pause to watch...
Redesign lady Gaga’s Chromatica merch
Kel: Chicken Noodle Soup
J-Hope: Where is the soda on the side?
Nobody did that joke yet? Really, guys? LOL
I like how this turned out, but it really only works with superrr established brands like Campbell's, the Campbell's text is way too difficult to read and make out for it to work with any newer brands, especially with wrapping around a can like that.
So the trendy look you make was a vintage inspired can? I don’t get it at all, I know it’s a design vibe but the original is simplistic perfect and timeless easy to read at the supermarket. I think you can put your creative energy in other ugly logos that really need a rebrand. 🙌🏻
Awsome, cool turn out feels groovy! 🔥
Okay but can we talk about how beautiful you're earrings are???
This redesign turned out so good! Love the vintage vibe in the colors and type and the way you mock up the final designs 😊Would love to see more of the technical side like you mentioned, maybe short form videos where you show how you achieve a certain affect. I feel like there's so many good nuggets you share throughout but it can be hard to keep up in these long form videos.
Am I the only one bothered by the bottom of the p
wow, you did it again - so fricken dope! also, love when you talk about the technical side of your design #youtubeuniversity
Nice work 👍I completely forgot the packaging said 'condensed' then got very confused when you were looking for a 'condensed' font 🥴
idk how i missed this but my damn heart is warmed that i told u months ago not to say you're dumb and you've tried to remember it! leave the mean comments to rot and know that there are ppl who genuinely appreciate you and the work you and matty put into ur channel!
Nice! Love me some tomato soup! I want to say your logo reminds me of the logo on my dishwasher
i would love love more technical videos for adobe illustrator. Idky but when you explain it it's so much easier for me to understand.
Wow, it's cool af! Maybe the logo being super big isn't the best for sales, but it's def a great improvement over the original
more technical side please!! i'm learning the programs and you explain them really well!
I would do ANYTHING to be this good at typography, this is beautiful
Ur stunning wow, lets hold hands under rainbows lol ahahah. Sorry im weird...Meow
For the Campbell's Label 3D bevel thingy - have you tried using the Distort & Transform > "Transform" effect? Rather than using the array tool, you can move the logo by 0.01" and then create 50+ copies to get the same effect. I find this a bit easier to control the direction, color, stroke, etc, because I can adjust via the Appearance window.
i know i'm late to this video but this is genuinely one of your best redesigns. feels original but so new and so pretty
Campbell's changed their logo in 2000 and used it up until 2003, after which they went back to the previous logo which they used from 1953-2000
I tried out Squarespace after every design youtuber recommended it, but it has some very dumb limitations and frustrating UX as long as you don't want to just replace exactly what it has in the templates. Also, you can't combine the features you want and get rid of what you don't want in the back-end (like e-commerce, it should be an opt-in thing). For somebody who likes to tweak all the small things, this is not a great platform.
I wish I had half your creativity. your designs always inspire me to just design freely and be myself. Im a 4th year GD student and i wish i discovered your videos way way sooner.
but but but.... green is for vegetable soup, yellow for chicken and red tomato. :)
so random but the fact that your doc has barely any apps is just so aesthetically pleasing to me
Not sure if anyone else has suggested this but I think it mightve been nice to put the "America's favorite since 1869' in the open space more above the C of Campbells. Just cuz it's a little busy in that one area, might help to space things out more :) but tbh I love the new logo and typefaces you used for the soup flavor.
