Synesthesia is very interesting coming from a person who has it. Basically, music became a vessel for such memories. Heck I can even transport myself back in the time whenever I listen to a particular song. I can visualise memories and ideas, smell a certain smell at that point. It is very weird actually, feels like your on kinda drug or something.
So you mentioned that the title "Ocean Eyes" is quite vague, so I was thinking that maybe you could do The 1975's "I love it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it" because it is very specific! I would be so interested to see what you'd make of it 💞

I kinda don't like it. I feel like the flower doodle is to much, I liked the white flower in the back and I feel like you could have put a reference to an eye in there. I'm not a professional (no degree yet) so I don't really have the room to tell you but I personally don't like it
I'm speechless... I'm not an indie style lover and I'd never make something like this, but it made me realize so much how afraid I am of letting go and just designing anything. I always want things to look modern and perfect or something like that. I also have an associates in graphic design, but I can't seem to just design for fun. This made me realize I criticize myself too much and I don't experiment enough... I need get back to design basics of just playing around and having fun...
this is probably one of my least favorite redesigns you've done. it doesnt really capture what the album is, it seems more like you just playing around with your program and tools more than a design you were actually wanting to achieve

My favorite tracks off it were probably Cave In, Umbrella Beach, and The Saltwater Room. I heavily associate music with memories and Cave In always reminds me of overcast days in late spring when I went biking as I frequently listened to it on my MP3 player.
Oh, damn. When I first started designing full-time, Owl City was our company's biggest client. It was right at the peak of the Fireflies single. So I was designing like 8-10 shirts for this dude every day, no exaggeration. I've got some weird stories, haha. Anyhow, dope video! 🤙

The way you feel for this album is how I feel for Florence + The Machine's most recent one, High As Hope. I bought it immediately when it came out and it defined my freshman year of highschool. I'm a sophomore now and whenever I listen to the album, I remember the start of my freshman year and the grand memories I had in that small start time period of highschool
I find Lungs to be worse, I don’t think her team understood her vibe at that point and you can definitely see the disconnect watching the Dog Days Are Over music video. How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful is stunning though. Intense and simple. It really complements the music.

as youll learn through school, good design isnt always super obvious and literal (like including an eye). its nuanced and hidden!
