The concept for the baron I think could be used for another demon, just not for the Baron Of Hell, for me they'll always be these muscle-bound behemoths. I think Olivia's Pierce concept design was much better, especially the one with the cane. Honestly, I'm glad they changed the Pinkie's design, it was always my least favourite design from the original games. The version from Doom 3 was also an improvement as it was much more terrifying, fitting with the game's ambiance, while the version from Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal was much more intimidating, it looked like it could crush you or bite you in half with that jaw and armour, like a demonic hippo of sorts. The Spider Mastermind's final design was honestly spot on for me, she looked like the classic design but modernized, the concepts were really good, but the final design was just *chef's kiss*. The Cyberdemon's new design I think is better than the original, but I'm glad they kept the original design for the Tyrant.
The harvester was not canned, he was just spared from the slayer in the campaign so he could be unbalanced as fuck in the multiplayer and completely shred me in it 😢
A lot of theses hell concept art could have been used for extra hell levels they are just thay great. As for the Gremlin demon, I remember seeing something that kinda looks like that in the game. Sort of like a "baby" version of that first design with brain like head. I think it was in a tube back at the Lazarus Labs or something like that. I could be wrong but prehaps it really was considered at one point. Thinking about this design, it's earlier brain appearance mixed with the name makes me think of the Spider Mastermind in a way, and in the Dark ages trailer we see what seems to be some sort of flying Arachnotron head, prehaps this is what the Gremlin might have been intended? The purple spider-like design reminds me of the D3 Trites trought. Doom3 had a lot of good creature designs and very few got revisited, wich is a shame really, the Maggots really were beings of nightmares.
3:50 The baron of hell wasn’t always going to be a muscular demon for it was originally going to look like a chunky demonic bear. LOL 5:11 this is what happens when jack skeleton gets buff and drinks to much monster energy drinks 7:09 Groot? Is that you?
It will always intrigue me how the original imp design from Doom 2016 looked like a mini Hell Knight, if that was the Imps design than what was the original Hell Knight design?
It's quite a stretch, but that design of the imp could have been used as a homage to original doom design (i mean gameplay design), since hell knight is just a higher stat imp with the final evolution of that as the Cyberdemon.
That early Hayden concept looks very much like a non-demonic variation of a Revenant, in fact the torso looks very similar in design. Makes me wonder if that was an actual intended idea originally, to have Hayden personally related to the Revenant program in some way.
I kinda wished we could've had the lost souls be randomly skinned so each one is sorta unique. Each design was fun and seeing which one would try to kill you is fun to think about.
I am just too hyped for QuakeCon but ik reality will punish me if I'm too excited. I hope this next game is good. Edit: Also I think the new Revenant or Revenant like enemy has a sicle or scythe like weapon in the DA trailer.
*Did you like any of these designs?* 🧐
Doom Lore ua-cam.com/video/2eQrjPHwT0A/v-deo.html
They were cancelled because the Slayer deleted them from existence
before they left the paper they were sketched on
You know, I like that head canon.
u f.king right haha
😂😂😂😂
nah, the Slayer just beat them up until they were extinct, then went to bed only to wake up in DOOM 2016

10:31 looks like an arena in Kadingir Sanctum, the one with the haste power-up.
I love the hell vista and the titan temple look.
Damn, the black and white Prowler sketch at 1:10 would have been such a cool Cursed Prowler for DOOM Eternal. Same for the one at 2:25 on the left.

If only Doom 2016 had modding tools, we could get the cut demons.

I'd love to see some of these concepts revisited in Dark Ages. Especially the more colder looking regions and thicker demons.
It will always intrigue me how the original imp design from Doom 2016 looked like a mini Hell Knight, if that was the Imps design than what was the original Hell Knight design?
I like seeing the stuff that was not finished. To see what we could've had. I think those other designs could've been made into other demons.
It's quite a stretch, but that design of the imp could have been used as a homage to original doom design (i mean gameplay design), since hell knight is just a higher stat imp with the final evolution of that as the Cyberdemon.
Wasn’t the Harvester in 2016’s multiplayer as a playable Demon?
Yes, it's multiplayer exclusive DLC

I wish they'd reissue the 2016 art book. I'm sure there are many, many more that'd happily pay RRP for it since Eternal launched.

That’s a great idea
There’s a giant demonic worm creature in a few of the 2016 multiplayer maps (Ritual and Outbreak). Wonder what the story behind it was.
Great video as always.

It looks like a short, curved weapon like a sickle. I guess you can see it as a "baby Scythe"
Any of these would've been epic!🎉
