    THIS IS THE COOLEST CUP EVER! I’m also totally in love with the buffalo check plaid that was spinning behind it at one point.

    I've seen this done w/Mod Podge and it was a HUGE mess and took much longer. This looks much easier and I will be trying this method. Super cute!

      I read a comment (don't know if it was in reference to tumblers) that said while waiting for your epoxy/resin projects to cure, to make sure to cover them with a box or something to keep dust and hair off of them. With your experience, do you think this would be okay to do with spinners and tumblers as long as the box is big enough?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! I had trouble with dust and made a frame with wood and wrapped it with clear plastic to cover my 5 turner. If you have a smaller turner, you can use clear rubbermade boxes. I like clear so I can keep an eye on it while its spinning.

    Hi! What's the advantage of the epoxy method over Mod Podge ~ and can you use it for fine glitter applications, too?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Epoxy takes a long time to set up. Mod Podge dries very quickly. I still like MP for regular glitter applications. I use this method for chunky glitters because they lay flatter and for swirls because of the dry time. You can use it for any glitter, just use a thin coat.

    How did you know how much " yard line " you needed? yours was perfect how did you measure it?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому +2

      I used a tape measure to actually measure the cup right before I needed the decal. Then I resized it on my computer before I cut it. Every cup will be slightly different depending on the cup itself and how much product is applied.

    If I were to go half grass half wood grain would I put the wood grain on top of the turf or divide it from the beginning?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому

      Good question. The dill makes the cup noticeably thicker. So If you want it to be the same thickness I would do the dill all over and then tape it off to do the woodgrain. It you don't care if there is a slight difference in the thickness, woodgrain and then dill over it. It would save some steps to do the woodgrain first. Good luck.

    Wowsers... I use a max of 2ml epoxy for epoxy method for anything ... this looked like you used a lot more... do you find it takes ages to cure?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому

      Thinner coats of epoxy actually take longer to cure generally but I don't think there is much of a difference between 2 and 10 as far as how long it takes. I used enough to adhere the dill weed without it moving. It did soak up a lot being an organic material. I use less for glitter.

    Each time you apply the tape, you move it so it’s tapered? Or in the same spot every time.

    I'm currently making a turf tumbler with the artificial turf from Hobby Lobby. It soaks up SO much epoxy, and it makes it look much darker. Should I seal it before applying the epoxy?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому

      I haven't used that. You can try sealing it. It should help keep it from absorbing but I am not sure about the color changing.

  • @CallieColette91
    @CallieColette91 3 роки тому

    When do you usually take off the tape, after it's turned for a few hours, or when it's done and cured... No one ever mentions that in their videos! :/

      Here is where I discuss the basics of epoxy application, including tape removal.

    Where you buy your glitter from all on your shelves??

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique

      I buy glitter all over. I try to list my sources in the video descriptions. I usually buy glitter that comes in bags and move it to the glass jars.

      The transfer tape should help stiffen it up to make it easier to apply.

      You can put organic materials in resin as long as they are completely dried, no moisture at all. This was dried dill weed from the spice section.

    How much epoxy did you use on each step?

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому +1

      Around 10mls to apply the dill weed, maybe a little less. About 15mls for each additional coat. I always have multiple cups going so I mix a bigger batch at a time.

    • @cheekydiva08
      @cheekydiva08 4 роки тому

      @@VioletDoodlesBoutique How do you keep your big batches from getting too hot...I mixed up 80ml last week to do multiple flood coats and could feel my resin getting hot in the cup and before I knew it, it had started curing in the cup and it was a MESS.

    • @VioletDoodlesBoutique
      @VioletDoodlesBoutique  4 роки тому

      I won't mix more than 90 and I work fast. I have had that happen though. If it starts to get hot, don't use it.
