@@DuncanCustomAirbrush the problem I’m having with the clear enamel is when I’m done with my 1st coat of alcohol ink wood grain cup then wait about an hour then spray the clear enamel and it leaves a crackle effect and sometimes makes the ink run just a bit. Why is it doing that?

You are too funny ! Very talented - question; I did an acrylic paint rainbow wall art and put glitter on the colors while the paint was wet so it's sticking pretty well but, since it's a sold piece I don' t want glitter falling to the floor once they hang it. I hear hairspray may work but would rather get an expert to answer my questions, you would be the expert! HA!
You may want to use a gloss spray sealer...if you didnt want to resin it

If you spray the matte on glitter and then put epoxy over it will it bring back the sparkleness to the glitter

I am new to this and the first 3 tumblers I have made, My projects come out great until I epoxy then gets ruined. I have done the dawn dish soap, wood grain and Galaxy. the epoxy seems to be repelling and makes waves all around the cup. I have used matte clear enamel and also the same matte clear 2X. No matter what I do it repels and makes waves. Please help with any suggestions.

Hi, so glad I found this video. So I sanded my cup, cleaned very well, spray painted, and added my vinyl. Do I now spray it with matte clear so I don’t get fish eyes or spreads? Please help, I got so frustrated doing twice without the clear and just cleaning and it fish eyed
I want to epoxy it as well, so should I clear coat it then epoxy to avoid fish eyes from happening?

I am so glad to find your video. Unfortunately I didn't see it BEFORE spraying with a gloss clear. So my resin repelled and was crazy, I've wiped it most of the way off. Any tips how to move forward with correcting my mistake or is my cup ruined? 😖

@@DuncanCustomAirbrush I got so frustrated with that cup so I tossed it in the garbage and started over 🤣 I used matte clear this time and my epoxy still repelled. It's hardened now so I'm going to sand and find a new resin because I think that is my issue. (Using one that came with a turner ordered online and it doesn't seem normal from what I can tell watching videos). Thank you for the response! I'm excited to learn more about cups and love your videos!
Hello, thanks for your videos, they are very helpful and your jobs are great. Many people are working their tumbler with Epoxy, and my question is, if I have to cover my tumbler with Epoxy and Spray Clear or if I can use only spray Clear.

Do you have any videos about applying epoxy bro? Fairly new to the tumblers. I've made some really crazy ones, but sometimes I have issues getting the epoxy to cover unless I do like 4 coats lol

you can always paint over it, or if needed sand it and repaint

So just making sure, using the matte clear sealer on a glitter tumbler won’t make the glitter dull even after resin right? I’m new to all this so I’m still doing my research lol
Correct - it will go dull when you spray it, but it will go back to normal when you epoxy resin it

Besides prepping the tumbler to stsrt, when do you sand? Is it just when your doing multiple layers of epoxy?

Question about matte vs satin or semi gloss clear sealer. If I use metallic or shiny vinyl on the tumbler will the matte cause a loss of shininess to the vinyl? I feel like this may have caused it to dull my vinyl.

This may sound silly! But I just finished applying my first of epicyclic over my glitter. I plan on adding my vinyl decal next before the second layer of epoxy. When should I seal it? Or do I need to at all?
I like to spray seal after i put the vinyl on - I feel like it helps keep epoxy from seeping under the vinyl - some people don't though

Ugggg....why didn't I see this video before I started my project??!!! I used the Clear Gloss and now I have runs on my alcohol ink cups from the sealing process. Do you have any tips on how to fix them????

Not sure, but most people don't seal them if they are only doing a vinyl application

Whats best sealer to use on clear glass
When decorating your tumblers with decals or tattoos can you still use the clear coat to do the finishing instead of epoxy?
You mentioned to only wait up to 30 minutes...but what happens if you wait longer? I was working on a few tumblers last night and forgot to do the second coat so not sure if I need to do that this morning or just move on to resin. (If it matters one is alcohol ink and the other is glitter)
I usually wait longer. Also, I always try to make sure I seal over my alcohol ink - I didn't one time and the colors faded when I epoxied
I have never had an epoxy repel offed gloss.
Would you recommend using this Spray Sealer to seal stickers on my Yeti cooler? The top lid does not do well with stickers and I want to find something to seal stickers on permanently.

How long to you wait to seal a glitter tumbler? I just epoxied and then put on the glitter and I’m unsure when I’m supposed to apply the clear coat? Is it right after the glitter is applied or do you need to let it turn first?
If you did epoxy method for applying your glitter, you don't need to spray seal it. Although you will probably need to apply another coat of epoxy to smooth out the bumps of the glitter

How did you make the fishing string connect to your words? What did you use?
I drew it on my phone. I have a Samsung Note8 and I use the Autodesk Sketchbook app 👍. I measured the cup and cut the vinyl to the correct size to wrap around
You make awesome videos! The question I cot on the matte clear coat, on your Amazon link it’s listed at $23 a can. Is that normal for this kind of clear coat?

Can I use the spray selant on a Starbucks tumbler that has vinyl on it?
i have never worked with those, I guess it all depends on what you have done on the cup - if it is just vinyl then i wouldn't think you would need to seal it

Help! Brand new tumbler maker, I did the mod podge method for a glitter tumbler and before the mod podge dried without thinking I sprayed on my clear sealer 😢😢 is my cup ruined or how do I fix it?!?!?!
Just let it dry real good before you go the next step and just see what happens 🤷♂️. Play it as it goes, don't stress - it's not like it's the Mona Lisa or nothing👍

I would epoxy...but you could test it out without, but, I always epoxy

yes
I have some photos I had printed from Walgreens and want to add them to my tumbler. Do I need to spray the photos if they already have a gloss finish? I tried it and it smeared the ink on the photo. What am I doing wrong?
it is kinda hard to do photos because they as so thick and dont like to curve, but it can be done. I did it once using spray glue to attach them and then mod podged a couple layers over the whole thing.

@@chrishebert3240 You just clean out the cup, you don't do a whole take apart cleaning. sometimes i clean out between colors, sometimes i dont, but always when you are finished
After spray paint, when I apply epoxy, it tends to fish eye or repel like water and dose not lay smooth. Any ideas?
Could be the type of spray paint you are using, especially if its gloss. Could also be applying epoxy too soon...the spray paints may not be fully cured enough🤷🏻♂️

You may have sprayed too heavy. Some paints react negatively to each other and the crazy thing is that it doesn't even happen every time. You could try to repair the cracking area

This may be the stupidest question ever but. What's the purpose of sealing
There are no stupid questions, well there probably are but this isn't one of them. The sealer locks in the previous layer, especially when working in alcohol inks (they tend to smear, run, and fade if you don't). It is also good to lock down glitters from floating up when you epoxy, and it is good to seal over vinyls and decals to try to safeguard against epoxy seeping under them during the epoxy process. i typically like to either seal in the morning and then epoxy at night, or seal at night and epoxy in the morning...no need to rush
Do you turn the spray can upside down and spray a few times when your finished? I’ve heard that prevents the nozzle from clogging.
