It’s not popular to disagree with Beato. I respect those who do it publicly.
There's a whole clique of 'em.
Everyone is so docile and accepting these days, such well trained peasants would be the envy of any dictator.
If anything we need a dictator because dictators are always popular and pander to the people. Instead we have democracy/bureaucracy, a bunch of hostiles and criminal scumbags who have no accountability and there's little distinction between govt and corporate
They should penalize people who have too many copyright claims that have been rejected.
Absolutely agree! Also, trying to appropriate other firms/people's royalties should clearly be a kind of impersonation or scamming crime.
Paul Davids ego pushed me off his subscribe list long ago.
The guy comes off as very smug.
I got a copyright strike on a song that I wrote, not even monetized. I disputed it and asked to know which song they thought I was infringing on. No reply, they just removed the strike.
Alphabet Google UA-cam... All part of the problem!
Nice one Brad - watched you for years now..... DON'T CHANGE!.
I've had a couple of claims on my small channel on my original ambient synth tracks. I challenged and the claims were dropped.

I agree
SPF is too good for You Tube.
Would be ok if he was honest. He isn´t... Pointless channel.
Yeah but it's totally academic. Rick has built a big channel over years of work, good work, which is 20 x bigger than this channel. If he would be in Rick' shoes, maybe he'd change his tune. And he can't deny that because he doesn't have the channel size, the point of view. Also, how YT reacts to things is so erratic that I would not chance it if I had Rick' channel size. The third party he involves here is going by something that is anecdotal, he could have had a strike. But here, in the end, he doesn't care if YT strikes his channel out of existence, he himself admits that he doesn't put much into it; no reasonable lighting, visual environment, himself.
My advice for any music oriented UA-camrs, built your brand solidly, appeal to the eyes, the ears and the mind, post with regularity, don't bash on other UA-camrs, respect your audience, heed and study the UA-cam/Google agreement, don't play with fire. Why, because it's a business you are building, not an activism organisation outlet.
@@2oqp577 Yep, this channel fails on every level. The sooner it goes the better UA-cam will be!
Keep it up Brad and Rick’s gonna kick your ass 😂😅
I wonder if Rick Beato doesn't fight copy right claims because he has been in the music bizz professionally and doesn't want to ruffle any feathers. He probably doesn't want to lose what ever perks he might get
You’re saying he owes more allegiance to the record industry than he does to his audience? Interesting hypothesis.
@@TheGuitologist Just a thought mate.
I'm pretty sure Brad said as much in another video. Plant!
He is an insider. The algorithm loves him too.
duhhhhhh
Big respect for doing something as simple as making thoughtful and honest videos, cheers!
Like i stated under Paul Davids' video I think YT has the moral obligation to protect their button-holders. Like you said, there's content-creators with a respectable track record that shouldn't be exposed to scammers like that, and then be left on their own by YT. Another issue is AI on itself. This is a good example how stupid AI and how malignant the users of AI are. Instead of being in awe and let it entertain us (our boredom is unfathomable) boycot the whole thing. Don't click or use anything that says AI, certainly all those amazing little things. It's temporary fun that will in the end enslave us. Read about the opium wars.
You’re spot on it should be up to UA-cam
No it's just that he says it in such a gentle manner like he's explaining it to a 4 year old. Where as you say, "REALLY YOU GUYS FIGURE IT FUCKING OUT" LOL
Paul 😂David
Knowledge is power. Know your rights so others wont infringe upon them
UA-cam is weird. I used to watch your videos religiously. Then you just went off the radar. Here I am watching a 4 month old video... Catching up to do. Keep up the content man!
It's hard to imagine a Rick Beato superfan. For real, what is there to get excited about?
IKR?
Early on his film scoring theory videos were intriguing, to me anyway, but he explains things on a level that you already need a substantial theory foundation, plus no overhead cam on his piano, as many others do.
Currently he’s doing a series of interviews with legends of music - and they’re talking about the music, the playing, the recordings… actual information and stories that are of great interest - and dare I say, importance - as these are aging individuals who may not be with us much longer. It’s a repository of valuable insight, experience and expertise that no one else I know of is doing. No questions about “why the band really broke up” or some beef with a rival… interviews with musicians and producers/engineers actually about their craft.
I don’t know if that constitutes “super-fandom” - but I love it and am glad these interviews will be around for posterity. The Ron Carter interview is a great place to start.
@@cwize Why don't they talk about the mafia that is 'the music industry'? There obviously IS one. from this problem to the bullies that go around to clubs to 'make sure' they pay their dues for having cover bands. And they all have last names like yours.
@Clay Wisner The interviews can be cool, now that he's not interrupting as he used to.
But for theory I prefer a few others far and above.
I'm no superfan but I haven't seen anyone better at music content on UA-cam.
that copier machine looks sick tho
It's a BEAST! Got it and another one just like it for free from a neighbor. Toner is cheap.
@@TheGuitologist how do I get one of your Zines?
Rick is a former industry guy he won't bite the hand that feeds. He will grovel for favor.
It's that, but it's also a way for him to flex his muscle and show others in the industry his personal importance if he's able to whip up thousands of people to tweet at someone.
You got fight for and defend your rights or they will be taken away!! You go Brad I may not agree with everything you say but I’ll fight to the death to defend your rights.
i got hit with one of those claims a few years ago from music i got from youtube, i disputed it and it went away
I remember Beatingoff claiming he "testified before congress" he had an interview with an intern, muppet, and he recorded it and posted it up for all to see ... "yea man I testified before congress man" .. THEN, he totally sold out in the interview, "yea we need to come up with some way to pay these record companies.. jaggoff, haven't watched a video of his since.. why i call him a shill .. could you imagine trying to work with that dood?
Yep. He wanted to create a "white list" that UA-camrs could pay for to get on. That was the gist of his "solution".
Nice man, didnt know many ppl knew the song was from an old folk tune from europe
Rick used to be a local guy, before his move to Atlanta
I have been frustrated for years watching how UA-cam treats it’s educational content creators. so glad you made your original point and it’s good to see other UA-camrs making the same point, hopefully this whole copyright issue can get turned around if enough people stand their ground and do something about it!
As an “influencer”, Rick should use his influence and 2m+ army to protect these rights.
Yep.
@@TheGuitologist except that fair use is not a right. It’s a defense to an infringement claim. The right is the 1A right to free speech. That guarantees that the government can’t stop you from using copyrighted material of others in circumstances where you prove that your use constitutes fair use (the burden of proof is on the infringer), but it does not mean that a private party such as UA-cam has to let you post content that is alleged to be infringing by the copyright owner, even if a Court would agree that it constitutes a fair use.

Which rights?
@@JA-ut8fi exactly… what “rights”?
New sub here. From what I have seen from channels like Rick Beato and Ken Tamplin is that UA-cam has threatened to remove their channel if they get three copyright strikes. Ken just posted that he recently received two strikes back to back and was trying to get one of the publishing companies to remove their strike. So how does a channel contest a claim without fear of getting too many strikes and losing their entire channel?
This.
You're correct about exercising rights, rights are like muscles, if you don't exercise them you will loose them.
Great job speaking your mind and not just giving in. Fight for what you believe in!
I'll admit, i haven't watched you much, but this made me a big fan. Fight the system man!
Always.
You've been had.
100% Brad!
I can't even use my bands own music on YT and FB with out getting flagged. At least thats what happened a year or so ago.
Yeah, you have to dispute that stuff.
My parents have a radio station with licenses to play any of their music. Anytime they publish any radio content on their UA-cam channel, they get copyright claims on everything, even though they have the licenses to broadcast everything. There should be some way to communicate with UA-cam that this is the case.
I did a Led Zeppelin cover video once (Moby Dick) and they deleted my video. Hell, I was happy that they recognized it. lol Of course, that isn't what I do to pay my bills.
I agree with you Brad; Mr. Beato is to me, at best, a man who has to buy two seats to a concert - one for his ego.

Rick Beato doesn't even know how to fix his own amplifier and he is telling you about how youtube works!
Man, I love how your videos don't just focus on gear but also helping educate people on things like this.
He's wrong about Beato
It is the hair.
Once again, you're right. Hipster haircut=credibility. Rick Beato also has great hair. Which, I guess, confirms your hypothesis. They also have the cool, expensive, production crap. But I still think it's the hair. Just think, you could have saved a lot of grief by just going to Supercuts. You could be, "Brad, the Guitarologist with Great Hair...and Credibility". FIGHT It’s required if we want to say we live in a society that champions freedom.
Rick has allowed himself to be intimidated and wants validation for that, sad. I like some of his content, Brad has shown me what I don’t like, truth be told, there are some things Brad has championed that I disagree with, but I will always support his right to say them. I have never heard Rick bash anybody...show me. At any rate, these UA-camrs war, often only one sided, never end well.
@@2oqp577 There’s a big difference between being rude and bashing. I remember the video where he goes off on his rant about stop blaming other people for you lack of success and then going on about it took him years to become successful. I mean it was so patronising. I know heaps of hard working talented musicians who never got that lucky break. That video was just arrogance on a stick. Put me right off him.
@@nickdryad Well, I am not successful in music. Guess what, because I did not put massive action behind it in order to put myself in a position to be successful. But I did exactly that in my actual career. I have the same opinion has Rick's. It's not patronizing, you are oversensitive about stuff. Yes we all need to look ourselves in the mirror. Sweet vindication (not that you needed it)… now let’s work on that lighting, Brad. 😂
I totally agree with your side brad
So I'm not a lawyer, but my best guess as to why UA-cam stops promoting the video heavily when it is disputed is maybe they're worried about the safe harbor provision which usually says platforms aren't liable for infringement done by users as long as the platform complies with the DMCA and promptly follows the rules / takedowns / appeals etc. Maybe promoting an infringing work (since they don't know whether it truly is at this point) would get them hauled into court disputing safe harbor?
Again, I don't know for sure, but that's my best guess
i watched that video actually like a week ago. thanks for keepin on brad, all the comments on any of your beato vids are full of his little clones talking about how “wholesome” his content is.

He never did have any fight in him, only passive-aggressiveness. The guy's been in the music business for decades and he owns his own studio, so he has to know at least one lawyer who can explain to him that he can't use copywrited material. It's right in the UA-cam terms of service.

I share revenue with Tool on those. There’s almost no money in it. Just for fun.
I appreciate Channels on UA-cam like yours for the content alone and I couldn't really give a stuff about all the fancy blurring and the hipster clothing. So much of UA-cam and Instagram is sadly more about whether the video is 4k and how clean cut the person is rather than their actual talent, or the richness of the content. I don't really get it. I just want to see good art and good content. I'd love to be taken seriously on UA-cam as a guitar player and seen by an audience because I love sharing knowledge and feel I have something to offer, but I can't afford a $5000 camera and mic set up. I have always loved and appreciated your channel and thanks for standing up for what is right!
I have nothing fundamentally against professional video production. I just think so many of the channels that focus on that stuff fall a bit flat on actual content...at least for me. I own a DSLR and some nice lenses and could make my videos look just a nice a as some of those channels, it's just not my focus really.
@@TheGuitologist Yeah I wouldn't say I have anything against it either but I wish that it wasn't the primary focus for a lot of people. It's like the first question is always "why no 4k?" I only wish they'd watch the content before asking that lol

The copyright system is widely abused, as much as I like Rick's channel he does roll-over too readily. Understandably a "Big channel" does not want to be thrown off UA-cam for strikes but these vexatious claims have become an industry. I can think of an automotive channel where they panic to turn the radio down when they switch on the ignition to make sure that not a single note of music is heard. The situation is utterly idiotic, normal creators live in fear of these strikes. When someone is using an angle grinder to cut steel trust me I am not concentrating on listening to the music they have playing in their garage. A lot of the time the artists themselves get blamed for this nonsense, which obviously poisons viewers against them.
Some of my buddies and I were Livestreaming Call Of Duty a couple of years ago and one of the guys had a radio playing in the background. He got a copyright strike for it. The dumbest friggin thing. It was completely inadvertent and unintentional.
Why are we getting punished for either radio playing or for other people on the other end of a gamer’s chat. I see no fault on the creator.
