    Hey Swimmers - I believe that EVERYONE can swim without fear and with 100% confidence. We just need to maintain our comfort levels and learn to eliminate fear. You see, it is our engrained psychology of fear that is preventing us from learning to swim / learning to tread water, it is not our inability physically or incorrect technique.

    Finally a video explaining and confirming that treading water is not easy specially the egg beater. Unlike other videos here in youtube saying you just do this and that and you can master egg beater. First time seeing a coach like you, understanding the view and how beginners really feel learning to tread...

    This is probably the most helpful video I’ve watched so far about staying afloat other than the otter float position. Going to try that. Thank you!

      Okay I gave this a try last weekend and I could not keep my body at 45 degree angle with the legs curled. My torso was either straight down or doing flat otter float. The latter I mastered a long time ago.

    This is awesome, for a beginning swimmer it's exceptionally hard to try to learn treading water for all the reasons you mentioned. Your method makes total sense, why don't others teach this technique instead of egg beater?

    • @caribeswim
      @caribeswim  Рік тому +2

      Hi Thuyvuong9874: Thank you for watching and commenting! I agree that this way is much easier... I think the reason why this is not taught is that MOST of our learning institutions are not taking adult swimming lessons seriously and are not spending enough time thinking about how to teach an adult.
      There is a 70% failure rate in adult swim lessons. This is CRAZY as we have a 99.8% success rate. The difference? We have thought about how to teach an adult constantly for 12 years.

    This video is super helpful as a new swimmer learning the idea of treading is a little daunting but I’m still building my confidence in the shallow end so this would be perfect to try. Question though, let’s say you’re doing this in the deep end how do you actually return to a stroke position or vice versa how to you go from a stroke position to this in the deep end. Thank you

    • @caribeswim
      @caribeswim  29 днів тому +1

      This is a great question - you can transition forward or backward into freestyle / backstroke by leaning back or leaning all the way forward.

      @@caribeswim Agreed. I will start using your the techniques and tips that you describe in your videos this weekend. I will follow up and let you know my progress.
      I recently went to Cancun and was unable to enjoy any of the water activities, i.e. snorkeling, jet skiing, banana boating, etc. due to my inability to swim and fear of being out in the ocean.
      It is my goal to swim decent enough to survive and not drown. Thank you again.

    Seems hands are sculling lower in the water, level with your hips. Sculling in reclining position with hands closer to surface doesn’t work well.

    • @caribeswim
      @caribeswim  Рік тому +3

      Hi Alexadra - Yes! Your hands do skull lower in the water and in line with your hips, this is a great observation! Most of this is for comfort but also leverage in the water and our ability to generate enough propulsion with our hands to help support our buoyancy goals!
