Great video, hitting every mark on why I find this to be such a disappointing upgrade. Would happily pay even the planned full upgrade price if they added the extra capabilities you mention. Even just the extra sidewinders would have made a lot of people less disapointed I think.
Same here, the external model looks nice but compared to the A-10C II and BS3 its not worth the money without the additional features. Including the refuelling probe, additional sidewinders, Mavericks and 30mm gunpod would've made it a brilliant upgrade i'd have happily paid for. Holding onto my money for now unless they add at least some of these features.
Great summary! I'm overall pleased with my purchase even though I don't think there's enough to it to justify the price tag. My main disappointment with it is how they squandered a great opportunity to fix the outdated and glaringly unconvincing radar visuals.
I fly the F-5E a lot, but if the plane just looks a tiny bit different but has all the same functionality, if it's just a tiny bit better graphics, why buy the update? this is kinda like buying fans that have little blinking LED's for your computer and calling it an upgrade.
Any argument about giving modules extra capability. Is already lost by Ed and will never be won just by acknowledging the existence or non existence of the ka50.
Yeah they opened the box with that choice. And they're leaving SO much money on the table by not offering mini-DLC's to add extra weapon sets/options. I don't think they know how many people would be willing to buy capability upgrades, even if not strictly historically accurate. Maybe it's a good thing that they don't.
I love the part where he says the community didn't receive it well, shows a negative comment on Steam, but when you check the Steam page, the reviews are 'Very Positive.' I'd really like to know where you're getting your information to claim that the majority of the community didn't react well to the update.
Interesting, I see mixed with 12 positive and 11 negative. We're also looking at feedback from more than Steam because 23 steam reviews is hardly a definitive read on the situation. At the end of the day it is just our take on things and you're welcome to disagree.
I just looked myself, the steam reviews for the remastered f5 is mixed, you must be looking at the old F5 which is the only f5 version on steam to have very positive reviews
@@minty_1fighter498 Oh, yeah! My bad-they're mixed. But I insist, 'mixed' is not the same as 'mostly negative'; it’s 50/50. So, I think saying that the community didn’t receive the remastered version well is not accurate. I think it’s unprofessional for someone sharing content to claim the majority of the community didn’t receive the new version well without solid data. I get that conflict attracts views, but relying on facts would be better. Personally, thanks to this remastered version, I’m finally buying the F5, a model I’d always liked but avoided due to its outdated look.
@@patriciomassun In all fairness we did point out the parts we liked. Again this is just our review and our 2 cents. not a "professional" analysis. Those among us that are most critical of this update are also those that spent a lot of time in the F5 and had higher hopes for what ED could deliver vs what they did. The new model/textures are Fantastic. The lack of airframe accurate loadout capability that we have been asking for years to have, not so much. Unlike the A10 which got a lot of the things we asked for that were missing such as the JHMCS.
No plans yet for the Viggen or anything that is already released and lacking a paid or significant upgrade to review as there are already plenty of reviews/tutorials/etc out there.
Using the word 'extortion' with regard to money equivalent of pizza in case of a hardcore simulator module. That's great. EDIT: The vast (vast!) majority of community bnacklash came from hopeless souls who think old textures can work with new 3D models and people who self-convinced themselves (without even a hint from ED) that 4 sidewinders, Maverick and aerial refueling probe are even remotely considered for this Remaster. The reality is: the scope is known, the price is known, it's not obligatory. And everyone gets updates and bug fixes. Now and in the near future.
Cheers for the shout out! All good and well balanced points
Any time! We appreciate the feedback. Keep up the amazing work!
need more of this guy, he knows his stuff!
His wisdom is equal to his Grumpiness 🤣Glad you enjoyed the video!

Agreed, the upgrade is not what most people were expecting.
If we got Mavericks, it would be worth it.
Dude this guide gets me so hard for DCS. Thank you!!!!
That's the service we like to provide here at TDCS! Don't forget to leave a tip 😉
Excellent summary. Great commentary too, love the Northern English accent ❤
Thanks! Glad you liked it 🍻

Well said! It really is a fantastic update in many ways only to fall short in others.

Your "Dukes of Caucasus" video now has a special place in my heart!
@@TacticalDCS thanks :)
God the F-5/T-38 is a sexy plane. She looks like a Ferrari, fast sitting still.

Where's the new external animations?
Seems to be bugged for many so perhaps in a future patch or when other "coming soon" elements are added.
@ thank you!
With ED miles I paid 3 dollars for it, so it was a no-brainer
What is that voice ❤❤❤ sounds like ma pookie bear
I believe it will be worth it. It's only money...
"Coming soon"
The F-5E “remaster” makes the war thunder F-5E top notch

F5 was not received as well as the updated A10 and Blackshark 3 were.
