A couple of things my fellow Cockney chums: 1) Sorry for being out for so long with no uploads. Stupidly I decided to move home a few weeks before Christmas, meaning my PC has been in a box for a while! Good news is I'm up and running again so hoping for more content shortly! 2) Auto HDR on Windows caused a few recording issues here - either its blown out in color or very dull looking. My bad for that, I will work on a fix. 3) We need to stop making excuses for games companies. Asobo royally screwed up and the review score reflects that, and that's coming from the biggest fan of theirs. It's pathetic on their part to release the game in this current state. More videos to follow and as always love your support and comments. Love Reggie xxx
After spending hours trying to configure my Turtle Beach Yoke which the software didn't recognise I finally took off from my home airport in Vancouver I flew over downtown Vancouver and I was met with 900ft trees in the middle of downtown bigger than the hirises the graphics were abysmal I tried London same thing again with cars driving under the bridges !!....its a joke so I asked for a refund and got it!...I'll stick with MS2020 thank you .
Finally, a UA-camr who calls out this shit, I too am sick of these games released 2 years too early. And kudos for not being a white knight like all the other flight sim so called youtubers.
Appreciate it mate… I don’t like calling out other channels by name. They are more successful, bigger and simply better at editing than I am… but for sure they aren’t calling it like it is
@@g_pazzini You are very likely right. Too bad (meaning, my fault) for 'listening' to many of them and choosing to even pre-purchase a FlightSim which I even did not need in the first place... My bad, in fact. I got the Aviator version and managed to start it and try a simple flight only a couple of days ago. Reason (for no CTD and working past the initial setup process this time): unknown. I was expecting something awesome, while in fact I found an alpha release… But again, my bad.
I wonder what kind of game you expect when you think it's 2 years too early? Like, in it's current state, it's working pretty much as expected for me. Yes it has bugs like the weird career mode progression etc, but that's like balancing issues in a shooter game. The whole cloud streaming thing works pretty well by now. And what else is there that we should expect from a flight sim? Yes, the 737max behaves like a 737ng, but default aircraft in a flightsim usually don't behave like anything that exists in reality, so I'd consider that still a pretty good aircraft.
MSFS 2020 is 4 years old already, but still has runway edge lights in the middle of taxiways at the entries of runways . It doesn't look right when we run over the lights to enter the runways .
I did not buy for a few major reasons. The big one is it's mostly cloud based and I already did not like 2020 streaming in scenery. It took the 3 years to fix the premium deluxe aircraft in 2020 and if not for working title it would have never been fixed. The next reason was it was not big enough upgrade from 2020 which I already invested a lot into. I appreciate someone that is not a shill calling them out on the BS.
Appreciate it mate. All very fair points. Sadly I wanted to see some major big channels calling them out but I’ve not seen it yet. So we keep up the good fight and just keep it real here. Appreciate the comment, cheers 🍻
@@OperationDx1 love to hear it mate. These videos take a lot of my spare time up, many many hours to edit and get the footage (and of course okay that actual game!). You do sometimes wonder if it’s worth it, so when I read comments like this it really does mean the world to me. Appreciate your support so much.
@@cockneygamer I know exactly. I used to do the UA-cam thing. I enjoyed it for a good long while. But it was sucking the life out of me and made gaming less fun. So I have a respect for those who do it and are honest.
Thanks for your honest and witty review. I might add that it is perhaps even worse on Xbox - at least on PC you have some options to tweak and workaround. Xbox - nada. And when trying to get settngs as desired it quickly starts degrading performance or crashes entirely. Controller setup has been almost completely changed/effed up from 2020 - why? Why no option to keep as was or an option to import them? Why do I need to go through all mappings manually to relearn to use new controller inputs? And why then, if I try to change even one single setting for the controller it crashes every single time? Not to mention the plethora of graphical errors present, entire airports missing all buildings (Copenhagen, my home town, and a rather large airport at that), huge chunks of surface graphics never loading properly, planes acting erratically or not at all, parts missing, canopies missing, instrumentation missing, instrumentation not responding when actually there, UI messed up, crashing or just not responding for "simple" users like myself, unreliable and erratic autopilot, non functioning simple controls in airplanes, I could go on an on. And on. I was really getting into flying this past year, even considering investing in proper gear. Not anymore. The huge disappointment and frustration of 2024 has turned me off flying to a degree where I really don't enjoy it at all, not even in 2020 where most things at least work most of the time. It has soured so much I regret even buying the Xbox X - I bought it to play MSFS in the first place - and as soon as I finish another game I play, my Gamepass Ultimate subscription will go as well. It is as if 2024 running on Xbox has lowest priority, an afterthought at best. It is precisely as you say, we are paying to beta test. I am on a superfast fiber connection with enough bandwidth for at least 10 households but even with all other equipment off my network entirely and the connection entirely dedicated to the Xbox it still does not work even halfway. Sorry, had to vent somewhere - there aren't many reviews or the like out there re. Xbox users of 2024.
Great points mate and yes, I’ve read a lot of Reddit posts saying how on Xbox it’s even worse. A real shame that because the console is capable of playing the game, but what they produced is just terrible all around. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story, cheers 🍻
all assets are serverside? I know why they did that, it's so when the new game comes out, they can force your game to be unplayable instantly. You'll never have nostalgia again
@@biffhenderson1144 kinda sorta, but you can store it, and some data hoarders tend to keep them, then share them much later on (I used to be like that, never delete things and had a pile of drives from as far back as the 90s)
@@TheGadgetbadger I understand the world size issues, but they're locking everything behind servers. I also bet you that they haven't even attempted file size optimisation why are people so sure that it's a bad thing? because it's expensive to constantly have people download the same thing over and over again without local caching. So why do it? because they can say "it's too expensive to keep the servers running" when their next game comes out. This is easing us inch by inch into the idea of games as a service, and you own nothing
@@AndrePereira-tw5vsfor dedicated simmer’s that’s not a problem - they’ll just buy a 4TB ssd and call it good - at least make it optional, don’t have the space, stream it, if you do, store it.
Not sure it's a death kneel, for some reason these people think that everyone has broadband internet that is unlimited. How many peope actually download all those regions and cities and buy all those airplanes and globe hop? I find myself with a few planes and flying in my region and it doesn't take all that much space, but the upgraded base sim does and has grown enormously.
They put out a game two years to soon. 2024 is not finished, and they overdid the hype. They did the usual by letting the player find the problems so they can fix it, which is a piss poor attitude towards their customers.
If MSFS2024 ever becomes playable, and I buy it, I will then take a MiG-29, paint it in the colors of Big Jet, climb aboard it and fly it towards the Microsoft Headquarters for the ultimate showdown for the ages (all in the video game, of course).
I'll give FS2024 one thing, for a "flight simulator", it sure does an awesome job of simulating giraffes and deer. The truth is MSFS2024 is an utter bug-ridden disgrace. From the disastrous launch, when they should have known about server loads, to the hundreds and hundreds of bugs in the program. Airports missing terminals, entire airports missing, airborne jetways, aircraft with wings missing, avatars hanging upside down out of flying aircraft, blurry terrain, CTDs etc etc. It's utterly pathetic. They rushed it out and they knew it wasn't ready. It's going to take at least a full year before it's even close to fixed, if ever. If you're wondering who the beta testers are, it's the people who bought this joke of a program. I got a refund as I won't reward their incompetence and I won't pay for the privilege of being a beta-tester.
You guys on Xbox because I’m on PC and it’s great for me. They fixed the floating jetways, everything looks sharp and clear and performance is smooth on ultra. With just flight traffic full ai traffic and beyondATC. To me it surpassed msfs20. I can finally flight anywhere with stupid stutters on arrival at heavy scenery and flight model is much better too.
@@highaltitude787 i'm with you on that for sure... is FS24 100% bug free? no.. is it performing better than FS20 while looking better and also shipping with more features? Hell yea!
The fact that when you do a career mission and your head is sticking out of the top of the plane and your passenger is hanging under the plane is a travesty for a billion dollar company to put this out just to make some cash by the end of the year. They basically are saying we have no respect for our customers and we will fix these issues when we get to it
Like someone said on Reddit, nobody asked for FS 2024. They could have gone for 2 or 3 more years to properly give it shape, all the while improving FS 2020. But Asobo needed their paycheck, and Microsoft needed a new shiny toy to put on the Game Pass shelf. It runs way worst than 2020 while not being that much of a graphical upgrade, and they totally butchered the game with those ridiculous AI voices. I mean, even something as low effort as recording voices wasn't in their plan... Heck, they could have asked John or Olivia from the marketing department to record them in exchange of a free cupcake, it would have been way better. Not mentionning the addition of helicopters and hot air balloons, which is a fun idea... But you do that when the heart of the game, the fixed wings aircrafts, is functionning decently. And of course, kudos for the dumbo at Asobo and/or Microsoft for going full streaming, in a day and age where storage is getting cheaper and cheaper.
Yeah I can't believe how bad the voices are. They just couldn't be bothered to spend $500 on voice actors. Fucking infuriating. Well that and everything else
2024 runs a lot better for me than 2020. Finally a smooth flying experience while in 2020 was always fighting with settings and still getting jittery experiences
Recording voices is "low effort" to you? All those languages, thousands of lines, each by many different actors etc. Remember, this isn't Call of Duty where you basically play through a movie. Imagine they had actually paid for that...we'd all be sitting here going "why in the f*ing world did they spend our money on voice actors???? Just give us some better planes, Jesus!"
@@josetjr109everything runs better on flat screen, man. It’s when you up the ante with triple screens, and most importantly, VR, that you see the issues with streaming. Think about it, streaming turns all of our top notch tech into an Xbox Series X, which means that they will run the assets at the lowest denominator of available tech. This sim was designed around the console. Heck, that interface, so you need to think hard about it? I can tell that they are streaming at lower resolution than available because VR is the way to tell. And 2020 is amazing at max settings in VR, while I can’t even stand looking at jagged cockpits, especially in non Asobo planes. They are years behind in cleaning this like of garbage up. You can’t get on a forum and tout your experience with this sim on a flat screen. Heck, my 3080 runs this sim quite well on flat screen on 1440P. No complaints there. But VR is the way to go, friend. Trust me on that.
Why do people always say that when they find the one youtuber who says something negative?? I saw someone say the same thing on a negative review of Half Life Alyx. just a really dumb take.
@@Dreadpirateflappycuz in the age of shilling, negatively reviewing games usually means honestly, but in this case this isn’t the first one (jayz2cents) to give the devs of this game a kick in the butt they deserve. He’s right though there’s a ton of bugs in this game, even if it’s pretty and runs well. I haven’t heard anything of the sort of any Half Life game.
Perfect summary. It had all the right ingredients for an amazing soup, but Microsoft continually lace it with Sulphuric Acid at every turn. Got tired of it, moved back to X-Plane, not as pretty, but it works, stores the world locally, and flies far better. Disgusting work Asobo and Microsoft, absolutely no morals what so ever releasing such a total mess. I've said this on a few comments now, but, the reality here is Microsoft have pandered to the masses with a visual "Terrain Simulator", an entertainment product at best (though its hardly entertaining) where X-Plane delivers an actual "Flight Simulator", a tool to do a job, which it does very well indeed.
Thanks for that. I've been contemplating shifting from X-Plane to FS2024. I'm an Apple user, so that would have meant a significant cost either with a hardware change or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now I think I'll stay put and wait for MS to get their act together!
I flew FSX all the way into last year. I took a long hard look at both 2020 and XP and, based on the myriad of stories regarding the difficulty in installing 2020 and the requirement to be connected to the Internet at all times, I opted to try XP12. I downloaded the demo and it was a no-brainer. I installed the whole thing in 30 minute with no problem. Mapped my controllers in five minutes and went flying. Was totally impressed by the flying and the visuals. One single commercial transaction, no login. This is the difference between a large company with a portfolio of products across multiple platforms with integrated marketing and a small company devoted to a single dream. XP12 works as advertised.
This is now the standard release formula for most major game companies it seems (think CD Project Red with CyberPunk): 1. Use internal metric targets and investor goals to set release schedule, taking advantage of the holiday season and goodwill towards previous game. 2. Release game to meet schedule at any cost regardless of quality of the release. Great sales due to marketing hype and goodwill. 3. Top management apologies profusely for broken release and hopes to do better next time. 4. A patch released early in Dec to deal with low hanging fruit. No more patches until end of vacation season. 5. Upper management/executives get great salary hikes and end-of-year bonuses for releasing game on time as per market schedule & hitting sales targets. 6. Devs slogging thru next year to squash bugs, along with a healthy does of vitriol and harassment from community.
7. What's wrong with the above? Life is hard and running a business with pissy and lazy devz is nearly impossible. Money needs to be collected. Bugs should not be there, but they don't always jump out until it's in the wild. You can't have the incredible games we enjoy without major investors, and they deserve the quickest return possible.
Why do investors deserve the quickest return possible? Seems like they just want a 10% return on their money, wouldn't everybody. MSFS has been around for 40 years and the cessna had inoperative buttons and switches. The GPS for the planes didnt work until 3rd party took that issue on and still not sure it is fully functional as the counter part.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, they should have either pushed the launch back to 2025 and announced that the sim simply wasn't ready yet, or they should have marketed the game as early access. I had previously tried to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the studio was under pressure from higher ups in the company to push the sim out by a specific date, but honestly, your point about them possibly taking advantage of their customers and covertly using a buggy launch as free labor beta testing is... compelling.
I'm betting Microsoft was the ones who gave the ultimatum. They did the same with MSFS, launched when it wasn't ready, had a horrible launch overall, and 4 years later the same problems exist. Now look at 2024 with Microsoft being the publisher and who's name is on it... Over 2x more cost for the best package, horrible launch, same problems in 24 that still reside in 2020.... It was Microsoft who bent everyone (even asobo) over.
It almost always comes down to development cost. I'm sure the same thing that happened to KSP 2 happened here. Didn't use the same engineers from the previous project. Couldn't create working tech in time for the deadline. Budget went over thus requiring to ship to market to make back something before going broke.
I've played a fair amount of flight sim 2024 and have only encountered a few small bugs, nothing that affected me in a major way, but this video is absolutely needed. Asobo need to be held accountable for what they put out, and this is exactly the kind of critical feedback they need to hear and listen to.
I get cruise ships merging into everything at any city with water enough for boats. Not sure if they patched it yet but almost immediately I was getting bugs. That said in nature scenes everything seems pretty put together.
One of my first experiences was a career mode deliver mission, to reposition a Cessna 172. After the hour and half long flight I arrive at the destination only to find no airstrip because it is a seaplanes only base, leaving me no choice but to abort the mission.
I dunno.. I've had days and days of fun with it. And of course there is room for improvement, which will inevitably happen. I guess some people have a bad faith attitude and can't wait to take it down. The days of a sim or game being a static release it once in a perfect state are long gone. Something like MSFS 2024 is just too complex for that. Of course they could've waited a bit longer and maybe fix some more bugs and prepare for a better release experience, but all in all I think MSFS 2024 provides an awesome experience in general. I can only speak from my own experience of course, and I've been having a blast with it. My last low and slow flight in the gyrocopter over Corsica in VR has been nothing but an amzing experience that I won't forget. I don't think any other sim can give me anything close to that.
I found a really cool bug tonight, if you press SHIFT-C at the right time while crashing into the ground you can walk around and you will hear the copilot talking to ATC (if you have AI handling your atc). Not only that, if you hit TAB to bring up the tablet you can see your plane is actually flying around while you are on the ground. If you hit SHIFT-C to try and get back in the plane it will say you have crashed etc, and it starts you back in the air as it normally does.
It's not just Asobo. Game developers have been doing this for a while now. Put it on the market broken, take the money, let the gamers be the proof testers. It's not fair at all. They pushed to get this sim out on the market before the end of the year. Otherwise they would have had to change the name to FS2025. If I buy a brand new car I should be able to start it up and drive it away! That is not what happened with this sim, and I'm so glad I didn't run right out and buy it. I'm going to wait until mid 2025 before I buy it, and it damn well better be ALL fixed by then!
Yeah, true. We had to wait about a week until we could drive off in our...60-220€ car. With no real need for that car in that time anyways. And the car will run for 4 years, so really we should be refunded 1/(52*4)*220€ = 1€ as an aviators edition customer.
I really don't understand how they managed to mess it up so hard. It's basically just a fs2020 update, nothing more. It's the exact same game with a different menu and a career mode, but somehow they managed to bring a thousand time more bugs then improvements in their 100$ update
@lars667 I wouldn't call it a new sim entirely. It is still heavily based on fs2020 and they had corrected must of the bug in 2020. Now we get airport with terminal missing, trees and buildings on runways, taxi ways and parking, runways as narrow as a bike path, an ATC that barely work, a career mode with no other plane flying or on the ground and the list goes on. It's so broken that I feel more like an Alpha tester than anything else
The fact MS could pull the plug on FS2020 tomorrow to get people over to 2024 makes me even more upset at the whole situation. I am back on 2020 and X-Plane now and if MS do more of their BS I will be back on XP12 exclusively even of it means loss of eye candy , I can still get satellite imagery streaming in XP12 if I want to and for free. I have been playing flight sims since 1999 when I was still a kid and I am happy to see them get back into the mainstream but what MS/Asobo have done/are doing really sucks.
It's "trust us" Microsoft 101. Remember Windows 10 being called the last Windows version you will ever own? Just recently got a message saying "We are stopping support for Windows 10 this year". And "You cannot upgrade to 11, because your 2 year old MB doesn't support some back door entry where we want your data". I'm starting to regret buying this sim already. Patches seem to make it worse each time. It's now unplayable
@@ArcanePath360 I am happy I switched to linux 3 years ago :) last thing I want is a bunch of telemetry and intrusive corporate stuff in my OS not to mention possible ad's NO THANKS.
@ Yes as well as most add ons ! The only add on I have not managed to get working is the Fenix due to the weird external app it uses that uses some seriously ancient windows libraries to work. Also I have never had FS2020 crash during a flight on Linux not once even with all my add ons like the PMDG 737 and 777.
Spot on! 100% agree with everything covered. I'm a now-handicapped snowboarder/musician who can't do either of those things anymore. I'm just a guy in a hospital bed playing through an Xbox controller. I only like flying the little putt-putt planes that give you lead poisoning from their fuel. But yes, I am one of those newcomers that an accessible sim makes it easy for me to virtual sightsee. I don't need to pretend to go looking for things since the photo mode is a thing. I've been cracking out the photograph animal missions. (Those darn African Elephants are elusive.) (Honestly I would never have picked up the flight sim's if it wasn't for 2020 having satellite imagery. I can follow the highways through Minnesota that I know and see the landmarks, oh there's where those funky trees are, Yup, they're there. Oh, here's where the 3 radio broadcast towers are, yup. Those are there too. Let's fly over to my local Menards home improvement store, or the Super Target I am banned from being on property for skateboarding through on their grand opening. lol, Yup even the big target sign is there.) I haven't encountered as many horrible bugs as others have come across. So, I'd give a 4 / 10 stars currently as well. Flaps in career mode while my DHC Beaver is sitting idle on the taxiway >_< What The Heck! Actually 3/10, those should've been patched in week 1 after release, 2024 is all about the career mode. Also, Career mode first company = freight. That's your money maker.
Totally agree to everything you've highlighted. MSFS 2024 is the ultimate when it comes to graphic reality, no questions there. BUT, for serious Flight Simmers (who use it as a simulator & not a game), it's a NO GO! The fun of Flight Simming is to start and reach you destination with all the realism in a flight and no bugs. Yes...once in a while there could be a system glitch, but 98% of the time you should be able to complete your "full" flight without any system based issues.....that is what the goal is isn't it? That is what serious simmers want to achieve. I very reluctantly gave up on MSFS (being a loyal MS Flight Simulator user since the early 2000's) after a lot of issues in MSFS 2020, and for the 1st time tried X-Plane. You can't compare the graphics, but I get 100% satisfaction of completing every flight without having to worry about the system crashing or hanging etc, etc, etc. Now hooked on to X-Plane for the consistency.
15:00 sound - I would agree in cockpit, sounds are good, but outside, hearing planes flying over, in drone view, sounds are still weird rumbly messes. Weird ambient reverb and delay applied to everything that's more than 200ft away, everything sounds super rumbly, planes don't sound much like planes, they don't even bother to add the sounds of planes in the distance flying around like from real life recordings, to bring atmosphere, call of duty does a better job at that, the doppler effect sucks, propeller planes sound like rattling metal when you get more than 300 meters away... Its not good
Exceptional as always. I tried for a week and only achieved a 96% load so gave up. Glad you are back Reggie, I did wonder why you were silent, hope the new home is all you wanted. Have a great Christmas and new year.
New home is fabulous mate! I’ve discovered if you leave your crap in boxes it acts as a wardrobe in itself! Appreciate the comment and yes, the dreaded load times are a killer for many. Really hoping they can get this to where it needs to be over the coming months. Cheers 🍻
I purchased the premium package before release, hoping the hype would pay off. On the second day after release, I couldn't load into an aircraft at all. I returned my purchase thru Steam. Wiped my hands of it. I'll continue to enjoy MSFS2020 and X-Plane until they get their act together. Even if 2024 gets working in 2025, server streamed assets are going to be a hard sell to a PC simmer like me.
Server streamed assets are no problem and are the only way you will get these sort of details.....providing their servers are up to it, which they clearly aren't....
Tried it in VR for a bit. Attempting to use VR controllers to fly. This is supposed to be supported, but pretty much does not work. They've messed up the axis of helicopter collective, for example. You need to move your hand right-to-left to pull your collective up. But the game-breaking thing is that if you ever pause the game or need to go into setting for something, you are doomed. You can not grab the flight controls anymore after you unpause.
I remember sitting at my PS4 in late 2020 after starting to play Cyberpunk 2077 wondering wtf was going on and just seeing a product that had so much hype just be soooooooo bad. Had the same experience last month sitting on my Xbox series X playing MSFS 2024. At least with Cyberpunk, it was a new IP and trying to do new things while MSFS 2024 had a prior version that was excellent and the fact that it can’t even get 2020 things right (such as the mouse issues that all of us on Series X have experienced if we use a mouse). I’d be a little more understanding if it was the new innovative things (like career mode) that were a little bugged at launch but it’s the whole entire deal that is bugged.
Yes brother I fell in love with flight sim on my series s, Got gamepass to try 2024 and I was dissapointed with the xbox performance and bugs. I got it for PC and i have had less problems I just cant wait for this one to be ironed out, Im loving the sim
i saw some lunatic say this about msfs 2024 "oh another person who just complains. Bet you also were the type that was complaining how long it's been taking to release it. 2020 wasn't that great in the beginning either. You expect a working product on day one. Gtfo"
This happens when another online player is flying a helicopter and the game does wrong model matching by showing you a plane instead of a helicopter. This also happens in fs2020.
@@rafalrazmus that is an issue, but OP was referencing parked static aircraft sitting 6 feet off the ground. I've seen it myself in missions with multiplayer turned off
I think the major issue is the fact you have to stream everything like Netflix. I have a gig connection and the loading times are pathetic. Give me the option to install what I want on my pc, even if I want to use 2TB and more.
@@ivanfojan8859 Yes I am aware of that, but you forgot FS always let you install the area you wish to fly in. Me personally I would just install Florida and stream anything else..
I bought it and am very disappointed it was released before it was finished. Love career mode but for me it is riddled with problems with graphics and aircraft. Even your pictures show at 04:46 & 06:14 show parked aircraft at least 6 feet in the air. Agree with all you say just hope they sort it out.
Having to fight the Sim at every turn just to try to experience a nominal smooth flight starting cold and dark and ending cold and dark is a shame. Your review is spot on. Now we wait on pins and needles for every patch, update, hoping it fixes even basic stuff that a beta would have uncovered.
Has Microscam released anything lately that was actually ready for prime time? They are still fixing MSFS 2020 and can't even construct update for Windows 11 without breaking something else in it.
I can get the graphics in FS2020 to look just as good as in FS2024 using the NVidia filters. So I will stick with FS2020 as its now stable and a joy to use.
Stumbled upon your channel for the first time today. At last an honest 2024 review. All the others youtubers tell half the story at best so as not to put all their free addons they get at risk!!!!
I dont even have sound, landing challenges don't work as engines dont wind up im just slowy falling and when i turn sharply in plane it says ive crashed
💯 mate. Everything what you said. FS24 is one big con job in its current form. Asobo/ MS did an excellent job in hoodwinking all the influencers in Las Vegas. Some simmers should get together and file a class action lawsuit in the US for defective product. That's the only way they will learn.
The fact that at 6:13 several parked aircraft are hovering a couple of metres off the ground kinda drives home how much of a mess this is at the moment...
Very kind of you to say mate. I always wanted a channel that gave honest reviews but had some banter thrown in along the way, especially when reviewing these simulator style games. Appreciate you commenting, cheers 🍻
I cannot disagree with him at all he is absolutely correct. I dropped $199 for the aviator edition. and I was expecting the starting point would be at the pinnacle of FS2020 and then go forward from there. sadly we got otherwise. I still think they were trying to meet their launch deadline as opposed to having a polished product. anyway good review. I'm already all in, with the amount of money I paid for the SIM. So all I can do is hopefully the product will get better overtime.
VR is definitely smoother, but not being able to interact with the pop up EFB is pretty poor, they need to fix that as a priority (as not all planes have a built in EFB). I've also experienced very poor ground textures in mountains and other areas that looked so much better in 2020, seems to be a LOD issue that has not yet been addressed - either that or I've done something stupid in my settings thats not apparent.
Same I'm using pimax crystal and love it....currently on an around the whole world flight....left uphaven 4 days ago....currently in Iceland....next flight will be Reykjavik to northern Canada then south all the way to south America then on to Antarctica 😊👊
@@cockneygamer VR is very broken too with massive bugs that still go unfixed, performance is also worse than MSFS2020. If you read the official forums you'll find a lot of very annoyed VR users who feel let down by this release, me included.
How the hell can they expect me to pay full price when MS never paid me a single cent to beta test their 2020 version of the same sim? It's taken Asobo what, like 3+ years to finalize 2020? No thanks MS. I'll wait at least a year before I decide whether to buy 2024 or not. @10:05, wait a minute. Is this for real?
2020 still isn't complete. The 78 STILL doesn't have ground effect, still flies like trash, there are still random holes in the scenery... Basically the problems that are plaguing 2024 are still plaguing 2020... Which is comical that people are so staunch on defending 2024. Who thinks encrypting liveries is a good idea? Asobo / Microsoft realized they could charge playstation with extra steps (Xbox) users for liveries that are free on PC... I'm betting they want to make liveries payware (let's be real, asobo promising "once marketplace comes you can use liveries" is as trustworthy as their years of empty promises already)
I haven't purchased it, but as far as I can tell, we still cannot set visibility, there are still taxiway lights in places other than where they should be, and standard trees are still so large that suburban neighborhoods appear to be hidden in the Amazon. Just these points alone, if true, clearly communicate quite a bit about priorities and development. 2020 was such a mess on launch I cancelled my subscription (which I'd purchased just to check it out) and waited quite a while to return. I assume 2024 will be in decent shape by the time 2028 is released, if that happens. Though I don't think they're going to fix those first things I mentioned.
I just tried it again today after leaving it for a couple of weeks due to the frustration. It seems to have improved after the latest patch. There's definitely a lot of bugs still, it really shouldn't have been released in that condition, or at least Asobo should've been more transparent and honest about its condition so buyers could be informed. But despite the UI bugs in VR, I still had a very smooth and enjoyable flight in career mode. I think there's hope for it yet 🙂🤞
This is weirdly pretty comparable to the release of Overwatch 2. Overwatch released in 2016, had many updates which started to slow down dramatically in 2019 after suddenly they announced OW2. They claimed they would add more maps, a PvE story mode, and a ton more stuff so people bought the idea. But instead of continuing to add stuff to the first game before it released they just completely stopped with updates for 3 years before OW2 then released in 2022, with literally nothing that was promised, it’s essentially just a free version of OW1 clearly released just to please the publisher and make more money since the first game had been out for a while. This is literally the same case, why not just add all this new stuff to the 2020 version? They don’t actually add that much here to warrant the new release. Instead they were probably forced to rush the release for profits lol.
My msfs 20 is uninstalled. Only runnig 24 now. Sure the game needs lots of improvement but it's so far a much better game than it's predecessor. I don't give a damn shit about carrier mode. I play mostly general aviation vfr, helicopter. So no big issue for me. Some remarquable planes are included. The chinook, the beaver dhc-2, and some others. But i must complain about planes. I have the premium edition. Too many planes are bad quality, bugged or even unplayable. And i would like to play missions without the need of the carrier mode.
"I never beat my wife, so domestic violence is not a problem". Just stop it. M$F$ 2024 looks better than it's predecessor. It doesn't function better. It's a pile of shit wrapped in nice packaging.
FS2020 plus PMDG 737 or Fenix 320 plus GSX plus a set of handcrafted airports with proper GSX profiles plus FSLTL is the closest you can get to experiencing flying a jetliner on a (reasonably powerful) PC. Enough said.
"unbelievably lazy" MY BROTHER IN CHRIST YOU HAVE HINDREDS OF AIRCRAFT, GRAPHICS BETTER THAN REAL LIFE AND THE WHOLE WORLD TO EXPLORE AND YOURE CALLING THEM LAZY?!? IM LUCKY TO EVEN GET A FLIGHT SIM WITH THE WHOLE WORLD, LET ALONE GOOD GRAPHICS. GOD
I am thinking of getting into flight simulation. As it stands right now, I would not touch MSFS 2024 with a ten-foot pole. I would probably go with X Plane 12 and/or MSFS 2020.
Whatever you do, make sure you try it! It’s genuinely a fantastic hobby within a hobby. XPlane was great but for my money msfs2020 is probably the best start right now.
@@peterlazuric5641 I think that's a wise choice. FS24 has potential, it will be a good sim eventually, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it as your first simulator in its present state.
XPlane if you want flight physics and proper aircraft handling. Ms2020 if you want eye candy. 2020 has okay flight physics (better than fsx) but nowhere near realistic enough to compete with XPlane. Myself and a couple of my friends (all pilots) love MSFS but the aircraft handling and the AI scenery generation make it comical. Hangars which house a single Cessna tall enough to put a 747. Lights and signs on taxiways. Floating lights at some airports (street lights. Not even airport lights). If you want a 'first sim' experience, go Microsoft. If you want realism without the eye candy, go xplane. Keep in mind though, if you have MSFS, Microsoft can pull the plug when they want as it's live service. XPlane is one you will have forever
@@raymarshall6721 Thank for your reply and I have been hearing the same thing you said from others. I would prefer the realism of X Plane 12. The Airfoil Cessna 172 ng digital is one nice sim to learn I think.
I tried taxiing under the skybridge at KDEN and it said I crashed. Put my plane in the air, and deleted my SID. also everytime I exit a flight the game soft locks. 100% of the time. This is why I take a break from my hardcore simpit for a month or two at a time.
I am an old X plane veteran who is getting tired of playing X plane 12, so I thought about diving into the world of MSFS. But after this video I might stay with my game... I also started gliding so for me the physics simulation is a top priority and X plane is doing a better job I believe.
The most shambolic thing is the extremely slow roll out of purchased stuff on the marketplace from 2020. I've heard from sources that the sim was all good to go, everything ported over to the new sim, everything was working fine, until a Massive game breaking bug was founded just days prior to the launch, which required everything be chucked off and started again. This restart process only begun, after we got our mits on the game. I understand a release is not possible in January due to everyone recuperating from Christmas, but a rollback to Feb/March was definitely required.
I tried to play on an Xbox X and it was hopeless. It took forever to load and stuttered relentlessly especially landing which is a bad time to be 3-5 seconds behind the plane.
A lot of the bugs were present at the launch of FS20 such as bridges looking boxy. But now most of the scenery looks like melted crayons. It took a few years to get FS20 in a stable state but ASOBO did it. This seems like they're completely overwhelmed and it launched in a worst state than FS24.
I've been trying to get into this game but on series x I have encountered bug after bug that makes the game virtually impossible to play. Literally buttons not working, glitches on visuals and graphics that remind me Sega on my grandma's plasma TV.
i had fms 2020 and 2024 no my second ssd 1tb today i said i cant play 2024 becouse its rubish so i returned to 2020 there was update after update i had13 fps, so restarted my pc, and gues what? my ssd its not exist enymore no fligt sims nothing no ssd its just vanisht from my computer, i dont know if this is concident but after update 2020 my ssd disc its gone, i never have this before
I can’t even play the game as it won’t load past 14%. I tried it and the next time I went to load it up it says I didn’t close it down properly. On Xbox x so maybe it it’s more pc bias
I agree on everything. My Aviator version (pre-purchased at some 220 euros in mid November) started to finally work without CTD only a couple of days ago without no apparent reason - on my very decent gaming PC: in brief, no 'potato' here at all whatsoever! -, while I had been having CTDs since day one. Still cannot understand why it did work this time, honestly… I am clueless. 🤔😊 Furthermore, to me, the interface is difficult to understand, let alone to learn, so that while Tobii doesn't work - which is a known fact - I cannot seem to being able to even setup my Thrustmaster stick controller (let alone Alpha and Bravo), since I cannot understand what I am seeing on the screen, nor where do I have to click to even setup the joystick HAT inputs to change my inside/outside camera. 🤦🏻♂ I started on a parking spot in a C172 at an airport that I own in 2020 (that would be Florence LIRQ, Italy), but for some reason I cannot understand how to get it working in 2024... Anyway, after a while, I realized I was not able to even start the engine. 😅 Then I started again the same "free flight" but this time on the runway, so at least I could "fly" a little. Nothing exciting anyway, so far. My personal evaluation: 3 or 4/10, because I did not enjoy anything. In fact, I quit and launched 2020 which is still rocking and working as a charm! I guess I will stick to 2020 for the time being. Too bad for the 220 Euros I 'lost'... Happy landings, all in all. :)
I bought the game, installed it, it didn't run, spent a few bucks on a new GPU, it still didn't run, uninstalled it, then said I re visit it in a year, and that was from launch date to now, still haven't tried it and won't yet.
Well done and well said. In addition to the notable gaffs you mentioned, there are illogical decisions invoking a wth were you thinking? I got and returned 2024 after really trying to deal with it, but fully intend to repurchase it after they have substantial fixes in place.
I grabbed XP12 when 24 was announced. All the promised features for 2020 to come "after launch" were promised for 24 after launch when they wouldnf give them to 2020. The 20 launch was a wreck... 24 is a disaster. Even pmdg has their leal team getting involved, inibilds is reverting planes they were releasing for 24 back to 2020. Bluebird blatantly called them out in a yt video. I am close to and have worked with a Dev team who are producing a third-party virtual airline program and even they are absolutely astonished without bad 24 is. Having played flight simulators, more specifically Microsoft ones since 95… I absolutely would not put it past Microsoft to shut down 2020 servers early to try to force people to transition to 24. My guess is around Q2 of 2026 they'll pull the plug, and because it's live service they know you won't even be able to launch it which would force people to move. It also doesn't help that asobo have stopped allowing comments on any of their UA-cam streams after the fact.
Does it really run better than 2020? I know it might depend on the hardware, mines ok but I’m a stickler on fps so don’t want to drop the coin if it stutters.
It's more optimised than 2024 (as in it uses your cpu and gpu more efficiently) but it dropped my FPS (on a i3 10105f, 1650 and 32gb of ram) from 30ish to 15 -10fps on the new sim
Streaming is great but they should of course store all the downloaded data locally. If you fly the same location every day it is very stupid to burden servers. If you only store the places you have seen that's presumably still much less than the 100+GB of 2020
Can you imagine, going to a dealership, buying a car. You take it home and go to sleep. The next day, as you're trying to get to work, you try to turn on the car and it just doesn't start. You go back to the dealership and the people there tell you - "Oh yeah, we have this issue, where above 25ºC the engine won't start, but don't worry, we'll patch it off eventually, maybe in a year".
A couple of things my fellow Cockney chums:
1) Sorry for being out for so long with no uploads.
Thanks. Fair and funny. ;)

@@cockneygamer There's more than a few, unfortunately. I won't call out any, they already know who they are 😉
those white knight youtubers were entertained by microsobo before the release launch. that’s why they don’t critisize it.
14:14 - Damn! That huge tree by the river... is that Yggdrasil?

Will be amazing in about 2 years
Which is where I'll come in.
They will release MSFS-2028 before this junk is fixed! Do not forget what this is all about, M$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!
X-Plane starting to look a bit better...
MSFS 2020 is 4 years old already, but still has runway edge lights in the middle of taxiways at the entries of runways . It doesn't look right when we run over the lights to enter the runways .
Like nuclear fusion is 30 years away? 😂

@@cockneygamer I know exactly. I used to do the UA-cam thing. I enjoyed it for a good long while. But it was sucking the life out of me and made gaming less fun. So I have a respect for those who do it and are honest.
They all want to "maintain access"
Go off brother we love it we need more people highlighting how buggy the game is.
all assets are serverside? I know why they did that, it's so when the new game comes out, they can force your game to be unplayable instantly. You'll never have nostalgia again
hey goat
Not unlike buying a game on DVD and as soon as you shove it in, the entire game needs to download from the server to "get the latest patches".
@@biffhenderson1144 kinda sorta, but you can store it, and some data hoarders tend to keep them, then share them much later on (I used to be like that, never delete things and had a pile of drives from as far back as the 90s)
They did it because the download would be three petabytes
@@TheGadgetbadger I understand the world size issues, but they're locking everything behind servers. I also bet you that they haven't even attempted file size optimisation
why are people so sure that it's a bad thing? because it's expensive to constantly have people download the same thing over and over again without local caching. So why do it? because they can say "it's too expensive to keep the servers running" when their next game comes out. This is easing us inch by inch into the idea of games as a service, and you own nothing

Do you want to have 1.5 terabytes on your PC? I don't think so.
@@AndrePereira-tw5vsfor dedicated simmer’s that’s not a problem - they’ll just buy a 4TB ssd and call it good - at least make it optional, don’t have the space, stream it, if you do, store it.

It’s disappointing because some of the bugs are game breaking. It will be fixed and it’s on Game-pass so it’s not the end of the world.
Lol! There are Heathen flowers on a stupid hill in England, the guy was in awe, he should leave this simulation hobby..
You guys on Xbox because I’m on PC and it’s great for me. They fixed the floating jetways, everything looks sharp and clear and performance is smooth on ultra.
Helicopters were already implemented in 2020, they are nothing new for 2024. There's even a 3rd party hot air balloon on the marketplace.

Bugs can be fixed, but the low footprint streaming issue is a real problem for me as I can't get a connection over 30Mbps

This is now the standard release formula for most major game companies it seems (think CD Project Red with CyberPunk):

This is why Rockstar has such a good reputation and make more money in the long term, they don't release games until they are fully sorted.
I've played a fair amount of flight sim 2024 and have only encountered a few small bugs, nothing that affected me in a major way, but this video is absolutely needed. Asobo need to be held accountable for what they put out, and this is exactly the kind of critical feedback they need to hear and listen to.
Amen
If you press ctl-alt-delete you can stop MSFS when it crashes,
It's not just Asobo.
So if servers go offline no more sim? So you don't even have the game on your pc ?
And do you know why.......i DO.......GO ON ASK?
Americans will watch this and think this is literally what every single one of us sound like, and I love that XD 7:33
I really don't understand how they managed to mess it up so hard. It's basically just a fs2020 update, nothing more. It's the exact same game with a different menu and a career mode, but somehow they managed to bring a thousand time more bugs then improvements in their 100$ update
They fundamentally changed the flight dynamics and ground simulation, this is a new sim at the core.

(Those darn African Elephants are elusive.)
(Honestly I would never have picked up the flight sim's if it wasn't for 2020 having satellite imagery. I can follow the highways through Minnesota that I know and see the landmarks, oh there's where those funky trees are, Yup, they're there. Oh, here's where the 3 radio broadcast towers are, yup. Those are there too. Let's fly over to my local Menards home improvement store, or the Super Target I am banned from being on property for skateboarding through on their grand opening. lol, Yup even the big target sign is there.)
I haven't encountered as many horrible bugs as others have come across. So, I'd give a 4 / 10 stars currently as well. Flaps in career mode while my DHC Beaver is sitting idle on the taxiway >_< What The Heck! Actually 3/10, those should've been patched in week 1 after release, 2024 is all about the career mode. Haha, that would be impressive but alas no, I can’t do that I’m afraid!

Considering the endless bugs that persist I'm not jumping in, I'll let the fanboys sort it out first at their expense, thanks for exposing this scam

Having to fight the Sim at every turn just to try to experience a nominal smooth flight starting cold and dark and ending cold and dark is a shame. Your review is spot on. Now we wait on pins and needles for every patch, update, hoping it fixes even basic stuff that a beta would have uncovered.

💯 mate. Everything what you said. FS24 is one big con job in its current form. Asobo/ MS did an excellent job in hoodwinking all the influencers in Las Vegas. Some simmers should get together and file a class action lawsuit in the US for defective product. That's the only way they will learn.
Smart thinking.

I love 2024. The smoothness in VR is all I wanted and outside of career mode i haven't had any of the bugs showcased here
Really appreciate you sharing this mate as I never touched the VR aspect of the game, so good for others to see your comment. Cheers to you mate 🍻

@@raymarshall6721 All great points. Even more reason why I'm holding back even considering buying 2024.

Furthermore, to me, the interface is difficult to understand, let alone to learn, so that while Tobii doesn't work - which is a known fact - I cannot seem to being able to even setup my Thrustmaster stick controller (let alone Alpha and Bravo), since I cannot understand what I am seeing on the screen, nor where do I have to click to even setup the joystick HAT inputs to change my inside/outside camera. 🤦🏻♂
I started on a parking spot in a C172 at an airport that I own in 2020 (that would be Florence LIRQ, Italy), but for some reason I cannot understand how to get it working in 2024... :)

im not even contemplating installing it until the marketplace works , seem like a choose wisely..
I bought the game, installed it, it didn't run, spent a few bucks on a new GPU, it still didn't run, uninstalled it, then said I re visit it in a year, and that was from launch date to now, still haven't tried it and won't yet.
I bought this for my Xmas present for Xbox. What I got was nothing. I can’t do anything because of some stupid mouse problem.
At 6:13 is that 2 aircraft sitting above the tarmac parked?
Indeed it is!
If you only store the places you have seen that's presumably still much less than the 100+GB of 2020
would it be good with the new cheap intel gpu?
Only if you stream on xcloud
Can you imagine, going to a dealership, buying a car. You take it home and go to sleep. The next day, as you're trying to get to work, you try to turn on the car and it just doesn't start. You go back to the dealership and the people there tell you - "Oh yeah, we have this issue, where above 25ºC the engine won't start, but don't worry, we'll patch it off eventually, maybe in a year".
If this sim is based on streaming, it aint going to work for me.
