Hello, Mel. My name is Oleg and I am from Russia (Saint-Petersburg). I wanted to tell you that your podcast has been supporting me for the last year. In the atmosphere of horror and anxiety that reigns in my country now, you are like a beam of hope for me. Two years ago I came across you podcast, but my level of English was not so good to understand you. For now I have improved and I am happy to listen to you every week. When I feel overwhelmed and stressed, I take a stroll listening to you, and it helps me to move forward, cope with all of this and hope for the better future. Thank you for your light, Mel.

I let a snarky co-worker email eat up a whole day of my 3 day weekend. I am horrified. I awoke at 2am with it on my mind and put on youtube. This is the first thing that came up. It was perfect synchronicity. The whole " let them" was so simple, and it shifted my perspective. Thank you.

“Let Them” is a healthy replacement for “F@&* You!” Lol! As I’ve gotten older, I cannot tolerate as much and I’ve been taking a stand towards people that are too hard to be friends with and cutting them out of my life with kind of an FU energy…which isn’t healthy and is rooted in anger and resentment for me 😞 AND it’s still consuming my power. “Let Them” feels much better because it’s freeing, light, empowering and peaceful and I definitely feel like I’ve taken my power back when I say it. 🙏🏼💖 I’ve ordered the book and I look forward to reading it and attending the workshop. Thanks Mel!

    • @GlamGadz
      @GlamGadz 12 днів тому +7

I’ve been thru this. It is his journey, but are you certain that YOU have done the work to improve the relationship? If you are not listening to him and refusing to change in certain ways that pertain to him, then it’s not just his journey. Shifting blame does not help either side. It has to be accountability on BOTH sides. On the contrary, if you have done all of this and it’s still not enough, then it is HIS journey. I have done the latter and no longer allowing another adult (who hasn’t worked on themselves or have not done the work via therapy and self-reflection) steal my joy. In visiting nursing homes to see older relatives, they are full of parents who allowed their kids to dictate their lives and given their all-only to be abandoned in these nursing homes.

@@jyd572 Awwh, that great! ❤️There are not many forums for people going through this. I think a lot of parents are embarrassed about it too. But a lot of people are going through it. Societal norms have made it comfortable to crap on the parents nowadays. It gets clicks and likes and to me, mental health professionals pander to this to appease their clients. I’m thinking of starting a YT to address this. We can’t always be the blame for everything. I hope it works out but it takes time. Be blessed. ❤️

Mel, you are totally on point with this. I am just now listening to this podcast 1/27/2025 and I am blown away at how much I can relate to "Let them". For the past 50 years I have been trying to change my sister to be more healthy, to eat right , to exercise, to do all the things to make her healthier. And as a Personal Trainer, it is even harder to see her let her health just go like she does. We are truly opposite when it comes to lifestyle. I now know that I just have to let it go, and let her make up her own mind. Thank you for this podcast. It really opened my eyes to what I have been doing all these years. Bravo to you Mel.

I wanted to tell you that your advice in another video of yours about when we wake up don’t pick up our phone first thing because it uses up our energy. You spoke the truth. It was hard but I didn’t get hooked into my phone the very next morning and, wow, I got more done and still had energy. I am sticking with it. I had no idea I became addicted to my cell phone. Salutations Mel. Thank you for the much needed kick in the pants. I have been enduring, not living. The difficulty of being with those that you associate with as far as family and co-workers has been a strain. They are good people to me, but when they congregate, the behavior totally changes. Gossip, sniping at people , pointing out faults, or just getting peeved at littlest things has stressed me out to where I dread going to work or any events. I listened to your podcast, and it did bring some clarity. However, i feel like I am taking two steps forward and three steps back. It is going to take time for me to realize that I can control me. Thanks again.

I had two years of hell with a back injury. I had many days with tears and having a pity party for myself. I finally said if this is going to be my life, I have to figure out how to live like this. I started changing my attitude and doing the physical therapy exercises. Leaving 30 minutes early for work ( because it took me 25 minutes to get from my car to my desk) I just kept doing little things and keeping a better attitude. Now, I am not totally pain free but I can walk. I am so grateful everyday when I get out of bed and i can walk. There was a time I couldn’t. I focus on what I call NPV’s ~non pain victories. Like washing my hands at work. When I had to reach for the soap dispenser and push for soap to come out, my back would hurt so bad. Not anymore. I have lots of NPV’s which help me to know I am improving. Love your podcasts and keeping grounded mentally. ❤

In the movie “Bridge of Spies” when Tom Hanks who played as a lawyer representing a Russian spy in jail who asked the spy before the trial “are you worried”? His extremely calm response was “would it help”. I always think about that line when I worry because it is so very true. It doesn’t help nor change the circumstances.

Mel, I love your podcasts and UA-cam channels. You are truly an inspiration to me, as I am sure, to many, worldwide. BUT, it's really really really hard to let go when you are faced with challenges on a daily basis at work. The challenges are the bullies at my work. To the point that even when I set boundaries and no matter how kind I still am to them or try really hard to ignore them, they constantly keep breaking me and one of the bullies is my boss. The nicer I am, the more daggers are thrown my way. It's really hard to let go of it when it's constantly in your face. I am human, and after a while of taking this abuse, it breaks you into so many small pieces that I feel so disconnected from life. I do not want to leave because that means they win. I don't know why they are so evil, but mostly, why do they get away with it. I now feel numb when I go to work to protect me from feeling anything. Somethings you just can't let go.

It seems like you still think about how they will feel when you leave work. That they will win. I know that feeling and it makes you feel stuck but what helps me is to really focus on what I want to have. Do I really want to be stuck with people who feel entitled to break me? I changed jobs because of mobbing and it was stressfull but in the long run I was gratefull that I did not have those people around me anymore. And guess what, the people who were mean to me eventually faced karma. Please leave those people and let them “win”. Eventually you will see that the person who won in life is you because you left the negativity and found peace.

Watching this again after being blindsided by passive-aggressive colleagues today. I let them ruin my evening. Now trying to pull out of my irritation and conversations I am having with them in my head. Jerks at work are always going to be jerks. I need to minimize my interactions and energy spend.

She is encouraging us to focus on what we can control. We can control who we vote for, with whom we organize, which organizations we support.

I currently work at a homeless shelter and it’s really really easy to get consumed with things that I have no control over but funny thing is by allowing some thing stupid as maybe cleaning supplies aren’t coming on time then somebody needs to talk to me and they’re feeling unseen I’m too occupied by lack of some thing I can’t control and I’m honestly doing my best to try to refocus myself on what is in my control.
I know that I can be an ear to listen I can acknowledge each person that stays at the shelter as an individual and I appreciate this Contant because it reminds me of what I am in control of and that it matters way more than the crap that is out of my control thank you and happy holidays

Hello Mel! To you I’m just a viewer than randomly came across your channel but I want you to know your words and guidance you provide in this video have been life altering and impactful. I have been DREADING my repeat images for a health issue.. of course for 6 months thinking the worst! I listened to your video and have been saying LET THEM to nearly everything and everyone 🤣 very liberating! Even my therapist listens to you! So long story short the radiology tech wanted ‘’more pics” (panic sets in like the airplane!) so in my head I stayed centered, said LET THEM , it is what it is at this point anyways..take 100! Wouldn’t ya know I felt mentally calmer, started saying LET ME remind myself many things are just routine. I’m so happy. Can feel it working, especially those of us that are consumed by worry! Blessed for souls like you!!! Keep shining 💗

    Hi, I'm new here
Mel Thank You I needed to hear this video as everything's is starting to paralyze me in:
sleep, pain throughout my body, thoughts, memory, extremely high anxiety, I have a 82yr old mom with dementia/SPD 4/5 with no support, with rent so high, food, everything is out of control which now I can't eat (nerves) so I buy green shakes, oatmeal, chicken 🍗, I have spent 3yrs in bed due to shut down, now this which I can feel shutting down again 😢, it has turned into phobia of leaving my apt, I'm scared.
I just bought on Audiobook your
"Let Them" which I'm looking forward to hearing.
    Thanks Mel Robbins ❤

This is what Merve wanted to say to me just before he died and i have been torn between my emotions and my feelings of getting sick from depression and you have said what Merve wanted to say. I am not the one who cut down the trees that our protected Magpies have lived in for decades. They protect us they are beautiful. Kids they have adapted themselves to our ways for 200 +years and they swoop you because you are a kid and they know you will panic and drop that sandwich. That is how they try and get on with us they have phenomenal intelligence and are so unique to Australia. I cannot control the rogues they have their supporters and those beautiful little yodelling magpies will be missed but i can't control what is. Do what you do. The thing is I am more important than a bird and the love I have for them does not make me able to change what I can't change it is not completely about chopping down trees it is largely about disrespect and control and as I person God wants me to have more and we will meet again God has the control. I am not saying people need to change we are all looked upon by God. The big question apparently is "what is a woman" Mercy that is what a woman is in the bible you can read about the wedding at cana and how Jesus turned the water into wine. It was his mother who saw what was happening and Jesus said to her "my time is not here yet" because it is now that he has risen that his time is truly here and Mary walked off and said to those he was with " Do as he tells you". Jesus knew his mother was acting in accordance with what was right and so he told them to go fill the barrels up with water. That dear friends is what a woman is. The thing is when you love something things are not as simple as they seem are they. I could never leave here I could never let the Maggie's wonder why Mary left them without water on a hot day without that much needed breakfast to give them wings to fly. It would destroy me RIP Good man Merve but I couldn't do it no matter what they are my friends

    Dear Mel,
Thank you for the incredible work you do-your insights have truly changed my perspective on so many aspects of life. I particularly love your Let Them theory and the 5 Second Rule. These concepts have been so impactful for me, and I wonder if they could also be helpful for kids and teens navigating challenges like self-doubt, peer pressure, and procrastination.
Would you consider creating a podcast episode exploring how these tools could be adapted for younger audiences? I believe it could resonate deeply with parents, teachers, and young people alike.
Thank you for considering this, and for all the positive change you’re spreading!
    Warm regards,
    Mel P.
