I have the ambassador 5601 ultracast which I picked up on eBay from the Netherlands. A very rare reel indeed! I was listening to the sound of this model when you were turning the crank. Is this particular real typically that noisy? The reason I ask is because I also have an Ambassadeur C4, it doesn't make that much noise when turning the crank. Frankly it's quite quiet. Is there any other reason why the Ultracast reel would make that much noise, or is it just the nature of the beast?
C4 definately much smoother than C3 when retrieved. Even after i replace my C3 with upgrade levelwind with dual bearings and one bearing idle gear. The reason for this i believed because C4 has much higher gear ratio. The vibration from pinnion gear that touch pinnion yoke much higher so we cannot detect it (or less detected) while cranking. Unless you using the pinnion gear that don't have jagged part (as a result of milling gear teeths) that touch pinnion yoke on C3, then, rough feeling whike cranking C3 we feel. Or may be put a bearing between those two parts. That will be a quite an enginering feat 🤔

my uc4600 only says 4 stainless bearings...7?
