I really enjoy your tutorials
I used to play 40k as a kid with my dad, but stopped as I had to focus on school more. You're videos made me want to get back into the hobby, and have helped me have another way to connect with my father.
You are one lucky bastard. I discovered the Universe through a Video of a HOI4 mod, liked the lore and decided to get some figures, only to find out my father hates 40k
Mini painting actually has helped me connect more with my mom. She does a bunch of scale diorama painting, like tiny houses in a tiny town with a Christmas theme. It's been really neat for both of us to distance ourselves from the actual pieces and talk about techniques and things.

I'm shocked that the later BSF vids performed poorly. they were a great help to me.
To be fair blackstone fortress is more niche than 40K in general. Plus some of guy’s other stuff is more useful to the fandom at large, like the ultramarine video.
@@johnlavery3433 True, except many of these minis are now sold with 40K rules. They've ditched the game, not the minis. I think the techniques apply regardless. 40k/AOS - all have pushfit kits. We all benefit from speed painting. These also work for Kill Team.

Ah it's good to see the blackstone fortress again, this is what brought me to the channel Guy and it's great to see it again.... Shame I didn't buy the game.... Even more shameful is that it's all sold out.... Aside from the French version, been awhile since I did anything French so maybe this will be fun to test out and remember how to speak my second tongue.

I don't understand why they axed it so soon. I didn't manage to get some of the expanisions they released because they only seemed to make 20 copies (OK, I exaggerate but it was a very short run)

Pete the wargamer often puts a bit of magic plastic glue over the gaps and it seems to work pretty nicely.
I mean this great one aside, I really hate how there are so many exclusive minis only available in the full box.

What did I ever do before I discovered the Midwinter Minis channel? I really look forward to these, helpful, entertaining, relaxing; everything I want from the hobby. I don't socialise in real life so content like this is really great and makes me feel a bit more normal and like I'm actually part of the hobby community again, it's just nice, I'm glad to see the channel doing so well :)
I will ALWAYS watch a speedpaint video here, even if I've never touched Blackstone Fortress! Just the presentation and Guy's voice are great for watching

Guy, I just had a crazy idea, what if you had an alter ego. Like, how cool would that be!!!! I don't know what their aim would be, destroying minis? Trying to spend as much money on painting as possible?? I don't know. But it would still be cool though.
The Blackstone Fortress videos are a Bible I return to regularly. But the character bits near the end I can understand being less popular because I don't care about painting characters. I use the Blackstone fort videos as technique guides and to help me plan my paint jobs for armies. They're absolutely excellent fundamentals vids for that kind of thing, and can help you think about how to use your army's color schemes in new ways to keep things visually interesting with that 14 colour limit. About 10 for the army. Anyway great stuff, glad it's back.
And so the retro tutorial has a comparison now. Keep up the good work!
By the way, the music at the end of the video(s), strikes just the right balance of melancholy and hopeful... Just beautiful.

I've watched the whole BSF speed paint series like 10 times this year because it's just so good. I completely understand why you would be hesitant to bring back the series. You are also spot on that the reason I got into painting and then warhammer was because of this series.
At first it was just getting my star wars legion stuff painted for the tabletop, then it was because I really enjoyed it.
You're one of the few creators on youtube that I support via patreon. Obviously do what makes you happy, but these videos are a huge reason why I signed up. At this point I'm doing it to support you and not for videos like this.

I just saved up and bought this mini since my main hobby is the painting aspect (not a very strategically sound player) and to my knowledge they aren’t making more. Does anyone know if they’re considering adding to BSF? Especially with Leagues of Votann I feel like Games Workshop is more likely to take risks then they have in the past (though I only started playing casually in 2008).

I personally had missed these. I painted my first AdMech mini following the guide for the Daedalosus, which evolved into about 2600 points of AdMech but let's not go into the gateway to plastic crack... Thanks for continuing these guides despite them doing poorly. They are great videos. Algorithm be damned.

I'm really surprised your last videos didn't do well. I've just discovered this series while I'm on vacation and I'm really enjoying it. You give actual instructions and show how to do things (not just "and edge highlight this thing" - like duh, HOW?!). Also, looking at all these different models has me stalking ebay for the set. Looks like much more fun to paint so many different things than 1 set of the same things.

Just wanted to say thank you because of your videos and a few other like squidmar and Miniac I took the plunge in to trying to paint some warhammer and I loved every second of it. Always been put off by the stigma that it gets but I don’t even care now 2 hours worth of painting am hooked. Tomorrow can’t come quick enough to get more done. Hey midwinter, story time. I have been a subscriber since the very start of the channel. I was a freelance painter and was going to start my own channel. Unfortunately nurgle blessed us this year, my wife's work slowed, ppl stopped playing and didnt need models done quick. I needed to get a job, i got one, but missed my painting jig. My current job kills my energy and time to commit to freelancing or starting my own channel. I always enjoy all your videos (as does my wife), and they inspire me to paint.
TLDR thank you for continuing to make content that is enjoyable and inspiring
If it wasn't for your guide I'd never have got my BSF minis painted, I didn't follow along step for step but the guide hugely inspired me and pointed me in the right direction, it made a daunting pile of plastic into a fun and achieveable project. Well played, sir. (And Madam)

Completely random comment but I just wanna say that your videos have been a treat to watch. I recently found your channel when looking up warhammer videos because I wanted to learn more about its lore. Even though I don’t paint minis or ever played Warhammer, I do enjoy watching and even having you in the background while I build Star Wars and Gundam model kits. I throughly enjoy the content and will continue to watch :)
