- I wish I knew I could of done this sooner! We've all been there, bought some gear and thought "that will break in" only to find it doesn't! And that jacket we thought was sooo cool is now in a wardrobe never to be used or sold on for half money....
The answer is to have your gear professionally tailored! And if you speak to the lovely people at www.bikestop.co.uk they can do just that!

Why would you go all the way to Stevenage to have your bike gear tailored to you when you can get it done in Northamptonshire were you live
I haven’t heard of anywhere in Northampton tailoring motorcycle gear?
Can I ask: the safety ratings are done on original garments. How do we know the stitching or alterations are meeting those same standards? I’m not questioning the quality or integrity of the tailor, just asking.
Very good question! And this is why I went to a ‘bike tailor’ as any seamstress could do alts. I asked the tailor this exact question and his answer was “I follow the stitching pattern and use the same or better thread strength”.
So in essence the garment will be the same or higher strength. There are minor exceptions where you could add additional stitching by adding panels but personally I would say this is negligible and overall I was happy to deem the garment the same before and after.
Don't worry about it. Unless you have made to measure clothing made in europe or usa. All of the shelf stuff is made in asia and the "standars" are so low that any seamstress job will be superior.
