- 5 Ingredients make Maw Maw's Tea Cakes
DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking?
When I was growing up, my granny was my favorite cook. My mama was also a fantastic cook, but there was just something about being in granny’s kitchen. We all gathered around the table when we went to her house. I have made it easy for you to learn how to cook like my granny and mama did with cooking tutorials for every recipe in our cookbooks. You can see how to order these by visiting us on our website. Oh, and no difficult-to-find or crazy ingredients! Just simple ingredients and delicious food. I am a Southern girl born and raised in Collard Valley in Polk County, Georgia. We went to church on Sunday, school during the week, and the grocery store on Friday, and that was our life: no vacations, no camping, just plain old southern country people.
If you learn to cook like my mama and granny, you will become one of the best Southern cooks. Thank you so much for being a part of this dream of mine.

My grandmother made these cookies for me. Thanks for the memory.
These are my favorite homemade cookies. Mama and I made them when I was a little girl.
I’m just getting in to baking tea cakes, Thanks for the video
My aunt made the best and I mean the best tea cakes ever. She would sell them for the church and surrounding areas. Folks would go crazy for her tea cakes and she didn't use White Lily or King Arthur flour and she didn't use any glaze or frosting for them the were just that good all by themselves. She's deceased now but we have her famous tea cake recipe along with many others and we cherish her memories.
Would you share her recipe with us?
These look great!!!
You’re right about memories if our grandmothers are with them in their kitchens! Blackberry cobbler and yeast rolls for me!
My Mama made tea cakes for my Daddy when I was little. I'm almost 60 now. Thank you for the memories and the recipe.
Great job on choosing the blouse Chris. It fits beautifully and it becomes your Leading Lady. 💕🇨🇦
Maw Maw's tea cakes look wonderful. My grandmother used to make the most light, fluffy and delicious tea cakes. Thanks for sharing.
I love tea cakes because they are not as sweet as regular cookies. My family always wants chocolate chip and I’m not crazy about those. They grown when I tell them I’m making tea cakes! More for me!😁
I love tea cakes. Yours is a lighter batter than the ones I’ve seen. I’m going to give it a try.
I also want to say I love your realness in the kitchen. Using your hands and even eating the leftover batter from the beater.
That’s something Mother would give us when she baked. I too think it’s the best part of baking.
Thanks for you being yourself.
Also, mother or others that baked tea cakes put an icing on them. We were just plain tea cake eaters. Lol😅
They sure look good tq fr sharing
I grew up in Alberta, Canada. I hardly knew my one Grandmother and spent very little time cooking with my other English Gram I actualy got to know her better in my later teens. We would often have tea and cookies together. I wish I would have had a recipe like this. It seems like it would have been a great compliment with our cuppas! Thx for the recipe and for bringing back good memories.
Tammy you looking good, and these cookies put me in the mind of my grandma God Bless her. 👍🏾🙏🏽😍
Tammy, you look like you have lost a lot of weight.
Please share, if you can, how you have lost so much weight. You look great !!! ♥️
Yes she sur has lost a lot
And getting younger not older too.
She said a while ago that she was on Ozempic.
Is she diabetic? Or is she another taking from a diabetic because she can’t control her eating habits?? Coming from a diabetic II person. Let her go off her crutch and she’ll gain it all back! 😂
Hi I Love watching your channel.
I've made tea cakes for many years. Better and cheaper than store bought! My boys even loved them.
I love all cookies but Tea Cakes are my favorite.
Me too.. because they’re not too sweet.. just right ..
You look like sunshine,🌞 Tammy. Thanks for sharing your Maw Maw's recipe. 👍🏻👍🏻
My Momma and Grandma made them in their bread bowls. I’d know Momma was making tea cakes when I saw eggs, sugar and vanilla sitting out with her bowl and lard. She made them with her hands and pressed them with a fork making a cute design.
My Momma never made chocolate gravy but she’d make chocolate sauce but not for her tea cakes.
Hello from Dallas Georgia.
Those look delicious😋😋😋
Ooh! These look yummy! I love things that aren't super sweet. These would be great with a little almond extract along with vanilla! ❤ Thank you for sharing your Maw Maw's recipe!
That’s exactly my thought. Add Pecans to the Almond and you’ll have Pecan Sandies! 😌
I was very confused for a minute, in the UK our teacakes are a yeasted dough with dried fruit, we split them, toast them and smother them with butter, yum! 🤤🤤
i remember them fondly from time spent in Canada. care to share your recipe? with ingredients, i can figure the technique.
Oh my goodness, I love all your videos. I can sit here and watch them all day long. Thank you for sharing your life.❤
Tammy, your white countertops show off the products you are using very well. And the food! Great contrast for everything, especially when cooking
There is a restaurant in Trussville, AL that is named "The Chocolate Biscuits" and she made a chocolate sauce to pour over the biscuits for her son. I was about to say that you have lost weight. Great work.
Another recipe for me to try. Thank you!!
Chocolate gravy made with flour. Had it on biscuits, toast, pancakes & waffles
Yes!! How did you lose the weight?? I need to lose 45 pounds. You should be proud!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m making these! Where can you find the white Lily canisters? I only use white Lily..I love those canisters
The canister is on my website but it's a white lily sticker that you can purchase through the white lily website
Thank you 😊
I love Tea cakes cookies too
The old recipes call for shortening. Just like I remember!
MY MOMMA WOULD MAKE THESE THEY WERE DELICIOUS. THANK YOU FOR SHARING SHARING LOVE ❤️ ❤.
I live in CA and got the White Lily because it’s what you always use (we have Gold Medal). I had to order through Amazon and it was definitely more expensive. I have to say it does an amazing job. I can absolutely tell the difference so now I use it for all my biscuits and dredging for frying. Thank you so much for introducing me to it!
Hi Tammy! I watched you make these tea cakes on your Facebook channel before. I also watch Malissa do the Facebook channel. I certainly hope everything is gonna work out for you and her. I do want to make ❤these tea cakes. They look delicious!
I thought it was an anomaly. Oliver the mini pig loves your voice and the sound of blending. ?? No idea. He’s wicked smart.
We love teacakes too. Enjoyed

I can’t wait to make these tea cakes…I know I’ll love them…I live up north so thank you for the tip on King Arthur self rising flour (I can get that) because I’ve always been sad I can’t get white Lilly!!! Thanks again ❤️✌️😊
Tammy, I love your tea cakes. They are delicious and taste just like my grannies. ❤
Brings back memories from when I was a kid watching my grandma make tea cakes
Tammy, I feel the same way about my grandma. I learned how to cook standing at the stove cooking with her.
Tammy you look very pretty with the outfit you are wearing. Great color for you. It makes you look younger.

Now your bringing in a lot of precious memories ❤❤❤
I love your recipe for the tea cake s
Ok, I want to try these. I would eat them all also if I made the whole batch. How do save your cookie dough? Do you scoop and freeze the dough in balls or bake the cookies then freeze them?
I just put the batch in tupperware in the fridge
That's my kinda cookie! Although I got to say, I like about any cookie out there. 😊
I did not know about the difference in the flour but I’m going to get some! Thanx!! I’m going to make these tomorrow
We never had chocolate gravy and I'm from Georgia! My Granny always made tea cakes though. We each got a bread bag full to take home. Mine were browned. I love them that way too!
Tea cakes are a Christmas must for our family. My mother made these when I was a little girl.I like to sprinkle sugar on the tops. Our recipe calls for chillin g the dough overnite and we roll the dough and cut the cookies. My kids and grandkides decorate them also. Such a treat in our family.
Delicious my grandma use to make tea cakes as well so delicious
Thank you love tea cakes I will definitely try these
I love tea cakes my favorite cookies!
What a beautiful cookie. I only use King Arthur flour, love it.
My mom made chocolate gravy, but,I am 79 from the old school❤❤❤❤❤
I only had one grandmother and she was the sweetest person. Until I was 5, we lived in the upper portion of their duplex, my grandparents lived downstairs. I was there all the time as you may well imagine. Every time I visited, Grandma made me tea in her Lipton’s teapot. It was gold, and she gave me a piece of fresh bread with butter and sugar sprinkled on top. I loved it. I miss being a child and the beautiful golden days. It was such a wonderful happy, carefree time. I was very fortunate.
I had extreme doubts about buying a 12” pig tail hook for cooking I’ve fried bacon for a lot of years and always used a fork WELL NOW I DONT GET MY ARMS POPPED WITH GREASE I LOVE THIS THING NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW I LOVE WATCHING YALL COOK TOGETHER
Hope you continue to cook for along time Great recipes!❤
Great colors on you!! Love it. These tea cakes are exactly like those my mama made. I brown mine just a tad longer cause I like 'em crunchy. Delicious!!

Was a friend of my Mom and she used to make them all the time. She used to roll hers out and I was the cutter I was about 4 yrs. Old but I remember it so well she loved me and l loved her, all of her sons were grown men she loved having me over and l loved being there. My Mom
Used to tell her you are spoiling that boy to death. She’d send me home with a bunch of Tea Cakes. I am sort of tearing up speaking about this because it means a lot to me, that was one of the happiest times I could think of Thank You for giving me back those happy memories I’m almost 70 yrs. Yummy cookie recipe
Tnk you
My maternal grandmother, my mom and my mother in law made tea cakes, like yours. But they also made them sometime with sugar cane molasses. They tasted so very good. ( Oh and they made chocolate gravy with flour which was made to go over biscuits )
I grew up on my Mama's Tea Cakes! I still make them today! At least 3 times a month! I make a huge batch of them because the Kids, Grandkids, and Great Grandbabies have to have them! Yes, I let mine Brown real good because that crust enhances the Vanilla so much! I also add a little more Vanilla to mine and Sugar because I make bigger batches! They're not Sweet but once you tasted them, you won't want another cookie! They are so good with a hot Cup of Coffee in the mornings! Mmm! Mama always made them up like Biscuits and rolled them out with her hands! Of course, they weren't big like Biscuits but she could whip up a huge batch in no time! I still have about 7 left that I made Memorial Day Weekend! That was our Dessert! Didn't need nothing else! I baked some a little darker Brown than usual and let them cool good and made all the little kids some Ice Cream Tea Cakes! Yes, I ate a couple myself! So good! Lol.
Good evening! Thank you for providing the exact measurements for these, surprisingly I've never been aware that I can substitute shortening for butter! Great video, Thank you!

I also thought white Lily’s is a soft red winters wheat?
My Aunt used to make them for me. Even after I got grown. She used butter sometimes. I loved them and sundried apples. Claudette
Hi Tammy and Chris. Have a great day!
That must be an old school mixer
