I have lived in Bacolod for 9 years, it is not a smaller city (current pop. 661,000). I would say it’s not a tourist destination. It has a lot to offer in amenities. SM is planning to build another mall on the old airport site in Singcang. So plenty of malls. Beaches, yes but not the beaches you think of when you think of beaches in the Philippines. The beaches south of Bacolod are mud beaches, for those beautiful white sand beaches we all envision you have to drive about 4 hours south to Sipalay and yes they are worth the drive. I am a golf addict, so I love Bacolod. I have a country club membership at Bacolod CC and it didn’t break the bank. Flying with connecting flights is a problem but driving is not. I have driven to Cebu multiple times, Boracay and Dumaguete. You can catch the 2go ferry from Bacolod to Cagayan de oro on Mindanao. Our city has lots of problems with traffic, as do most Philippine cities. It’s not a clean city, lots of trash. The city as a whole is not run very well. If I had explored Iloilo before settling here, I would probably be living there. Best thing to do is explore before settling down.

The lure of a young girl for middle and old age men is irresistible, and they will do anything to keep her.
I did not take the conversation as you did. My interpretation is not that he has put his finances in her hands but rather when he spends money she is telling him he does not have to do that to impress her she is fine with less. As for talking about those things...... you absolutely should talk about those things if you are interested in dating specifically for marriage. You frankly should have those conversations early whether you are dating someone in asia or if you are dating an American girl in the states. If you are not just looking for casual you should absolutely have those conversations early and weed out those that do not fit what you are looking for early,.
This is how I took the conversation also. I did not get the impression that she controls his money. She looks out for him so he isn't overcharged or spending too much. He found his way around and He settled in quick. But what did he say about Davao? that it was crowded or polluted? I was there I didn’t think it was polluted, but it can be busy. Very safe there and you gotta find the right section of town to live in and then you can have everything within walking distance. Market shops, malls that sort of thing.
I spent my 2023 Christmas in Bacolod and loved it. The usual things about the Philippines was true in Bacolod (nice people, great restaurants, and crazy traffic). But be careful if you order drinks made with the local water (like lemonade) which can make you sick if your stomach isn't used to it. Also just like anywhere else be careful with street food that have been sitting outside for hours. This city is growing superfast. The one thing that I found strange was when I went to one of their upscale romantic restaurants that had alot of liquor bottles on display but then they never sold any mixed drinks at all. The waitress told us that they only sell the liquor bottles at a very high rate. So I had to settle for a coke.

Steve sounds like a great guy that’s very logical-that will serve him well in the west. The PI is a completely different scenario and it sounds like Steve is naive in the ways of Asia. Filipinas are experts in playing the long game. Be careful Steve, she’s got the hook in your mouth and is reeling you in slowly. Soon she’ll start needing “just a little help” in taking care of that big family. Don’t forget the best position you can obtain is #2, her family will always be first. I wish you the best and hope you are the exception, but statistically you’re about to be had. Good luck and may your God bless you and guide you.
He doesn't have a good monthly budget to help out any family. $1,200 a month means cheap living. I would never consider moving to the Philippines on that kind of a monthly budget. I would wait until I have at least $2,500 U.S.
That girlfriend of his should put her FOOT down and have a serious talk to the rest of her family regarding everyone of age and good health should work asap. Never lower your standards for anyone, including a woman you meet. You are all there in the Philippines to GET AWAY from drama, stress, and to find PEACE in your lives!
LOL.....this guy is super naive. Typical 1 month Ph expert. His woman works full-time all week...that means he never sees her. Soon both of them will want her to not be working so that they can do things together, he won't want to be alone all week for long. And guess who will be the "bread-winner for 10 people then.....HE WILL!! His woman has it all figured out for sure - she's got him where she needs him. See how far $1200 will go then.
I like your videos but I have some comments about your sometimes promotions in some area. 1- Rent a house in Philippines: After the covid situation, the housing market for foreigners in the Philippines increased like crazy, which also made it more expensive to rent houses for Filipinos. Every time you compare living expenses in America or Europe with Philippines, you actually encourage the landlords to increase the rent of their houses and this will reduce the financial ability of the local people in the Philippines. You better accept the fact that we live in a country where the average monthly salary of local people is not more than 15,000 pesos, so none of the local people are able to pay only the house rent of 22,000 pesos, which you think is very cheap compared to America. In the long run, the issue will cause more class differences & more. 2- In one of your video an American was happy to ride a Jeepney because is so cheap for him. This is in fact another indirect promotion of the Jeepney which are the cause of lots of pollutions & noise in every corner of this beautiful country while the government already have been trying to replace them to a Electric one with the same shape but due to financial budget issues can’t do it now but in process. I understand you like many foreigners will sell your videos due to unique subjects like budget compare but we also need to think about the local people & try to add something positive for them while we live here. Than you for your attention Alexander Ellard
Nice place, but dude, you should know better. Handing over your personal finances to a woman whom is a breadwinner for 10 other ppl is like opening a can of worms ! Get out of that relationship ASAP !
"retiring" in southeast asia in your 40s is a Baaaaaaaaaaaaaad idea if you've only got $1200 a month to live on . Stay in the states and keep working on your SSN funds, savings and extra pension if you can find one.
I agree I’m 43 and want to leave the USA so bad but I know I’m still too young I have a pension that I can take out at 55 so I’ll have to wait awhile still. Just work and collect more SS income
The City sounds nice and convenient . Breadwinner for a house of 10 is problematic , unless you are ready to invest into a family business and get the other 9 on the staff .

Bacolod city, no water from the city water provider for the past 3 months. Very expensive electricity and blackouts all the time. Noisy music blasting.
No offense guys honestly. I wish us westerners would try harder to pronounce tagalog words and Philippine cities correctly. So all letters 'a' are pronounced 'ah' and all letters 'o' are pronounced 'oh'. So Bacolod is pronounced Bah-coh-lohd. Love your channel Gio.
That’s interesting. In Spanish the A’s and O’s are pronounced the same way. Can’t help but wonder if it is because of the Spanish influence from many moons ago, or has it always been that way. 🤷
Hope he does not need hospital in emergency, RIP This guy is so naive he does not know how naive he is. Lets revisit him in 12 months- GUARANTEE different story, and probably partner.
I would add a perspective here...this guy is willing to take a chance on 10 family members because he would likely not get a sniff from a woman back home...sad to say.
Wow 😮 Will just realize how frugal he is! He spent 48k pesos living in Cebu for 2 person for everything for a month. 70k was so high for him 😂 he showed me this video

Good video Thank you
Cadiz city??
Do there Do driving lessons in the Philippines gio
Jeepnys are great! Smart man.
Good interview. Good guy.
Wow $1200 how that's great
ah It's to be expected. You gain some you lose some. Go where you are happy you have to take the risk.
Okay, it's 650 peso's for a cavity filled. Wow., that's less than $13. Jeez, couldn't get a new needle in America for that price, let alone Lidocaine.
A friend had a number of cavities filled near Manila. They all fell out within 6 months. The quality of dental work can vary in Phils.
because Bacolod is the best. i lived there 8 years.
What really worries me is your rent. In the provinces.22k.wow
Breadwinner of 10. Just a matter of time before the money starts flowing to them
Homie movin faster than a bullet train, hope it doesnt derail on his azz
LOL.....this guy is super naive. Typical 1 month Ph expert. His woman works full-time all week...that means he never sees her. Soon both of them will want her to not be working so that they can do things together, he won't want to be alone all week for long. And guess who will be the "bread-winner for 10 people then.....HE WILL!! His woman has it all figured out for sure - she's got him where she needs him. See how far $1200 will go then.
Amen....she touched his PeePee and now she's the one😂
Doomed to fail - this „plan“ 😵💫
😩`💔 _I can't believe it ... !_
Than you for your attention

This guy is moving way too quickly
Having a relationship with a Filipina could help him not have to pay Joe prices, which are typically X3.
160 sqft. Man 🙃 But I get it. Go low and explore is smart. At his young age he can take a year and just try to see it all. Have a great adventure!
Btw, May I know the name of your guest for today and where does he stay?
His name is Steve. I don't know exactly where in Bacolod.
A full and his money are some party
Bacolod… no nightlife or beaches? No thanks.
Hey gio did youever go to the aviano afb area of italy. There are prettygirls there e s specially on the Slovenia side
I've been to Italy many times but not Aviano AFB.
Nice place, but dude, you should know better. Handing over your personal finances to a woman whom is a breadwinner for 10 other ppl is like opening a can of worms ! Get out of that relationship ASAP !
Your outro should not be louder than simultaneous content.
I think you can live less than that in Bacolod city, but if you live frugally like many Americans then that's about right.
Seems like a "happy camper" - and he's about as content as he can be - for now ? --- Things are always - ''subject to change'' - and no doubt they will eventually - 'change' ? --- Healthcare in that city would keep 'me' away - but I'm old. A used Honda Click doesn't cost that much and it gives you 'freedom' - you don't have w/o ! -- Very hard for me to be w/o transportation of some kind - I'm so used to it.
I need transportation myself, can't imagine myself without my motorbike.
Nothing wrong with health care in Bacolod, know from unfortunate experience. The down town heavily polluted, traffic is often gridlocked. there is seedy nitelife if you know where to go, No great near by beaches.
@@brucemattingley3358 says ''you'' on the health care ! -- The E F Hutton of health insurance in the Philippines - is - Michael Onstad with 40 years experience ! > And ''he says'' - only 2 cities in the Philippines had "world class healthcare" - if you need specialists - and not to stray too far from Manila & Cebu !!! > That's it !!!!!!!!!
@@brucemattingley3358 '''Nothing wrong with health care in Bacolod''' - until you need a specialist they don't have !!! -- And are told the closest are in Cebu.... & Manila are the only places they exist in the country !!!!!!!!! - - - REALITY
Hospital. Bacolod???
Anyone reading this DON’T waste your time going to calamba city. Crowded, traffic is horrible, trash everywhere and pollution from the trikes and motorcycles pouring out black smoke
30 days ??? 🤓😇🤣
Aaaaa com e back in year 😂tell us. 😂😅
How does he plan to travel SO much with his GF working Mon-Fri, leave her out of the trips ?
So what. One of the perks of having enough money
she gets PTO... duh lol
Gio I listen to a man and wife that travel a lot and on their blog they swear that you can't stay in the Philippines longer than 59 days without getting a retirement Visa they said they have talked to immigration and there's nothing out there that says that you could keep renewing your Visa, but every blogger in the Philippines says otherwise you can stay there for 3 years renewing your Visa every month and then leave one day and come back and stay 3 years
Best to get retirement visa. Tourist visa is meant for touring not living
Never been an issue to renew my tourist Visa. Unless you're ex-military, tying up $20k for an SRRV visa is Not a smart investment -IMHO
Google "Bureau of Immigration Philippines." Your correct answers are there.
Bacolod has more establishments than Dumaguete and soon it will have a BGC like Iloilo.
Dnt compare Bacolod to dumaguete...coz Bacolod is am major metropolis city...you can compare Bacolod to Cdo,Iloilo,Baguio.....
LMAO...this guy needs to pump the brakes!...SimmerDown LoverBoy..
Too bad that you guys werent stationed in thailand. You would have gotten the south east Asian girls out of yoursystem by now. But i do wish you the best
Plenty of traveling to be done with a partner with that much responsibility. Good luck.
is part of the ten people she is taking care of kids from prior relationships?
Absolutely!

@@Flhxs2015 A lot of the philippines current culture is due to the spanish occupation.

Hope he does not need hospital in emergency, RIP
This guy is so naive he does not know how naive he is. Lets revisit him in 12 months- GUARANTEE different story, and probably partner.
nope, I am with the same woman and we are engaged now to be married sometime next Spring or Summer. lol #ignorance
Gio should know better. . Catch u 5 years down the line . Good luck buddy. My words will haunt you. Trust me.
Lotta guns where u are!!!!
Iloilo is a safer bet. Boring as hell. Oldest golfcourse in south east asia
1200$ a month Never survive
I would add a perspective here...this guy is willing to take a chance on 10 family members because he would likely not get a sniff from a woman back home...sad to say.
Ya then say once you marry a Filipina you marry her family also! If he don’t love them too he better run
@@morlandoemtp Good point to add!
Jesus. Few weeks in the country and a 26 year old filapino looks after your money. I been there 30 years and never got that far
I think you are misunderstanding. He said she watches out for him so he isn't overcharged not that she manages his money.
its not bacolad its pronounced Bacolod...lol
Wow 😮 Will just realize how frugal he is! He spent 48k pesos living in Cebu for 2 person for everything for a month. 70k was so high for him 😂 he showed me this video
Best City, Sorry you are a little late to the party. the first time I came to Bacolod was about 25 years ago, it about half the size as it is now and it was much different, I moved here and have lived in Bacolod for 7 years. The changes are enormous. Condos are going up Everywhere, but no new infrastructure The traffic is horrendous. when these condos are finished it will be a total mess. You are paying the skin tax on your rent, you are paying way too much. 1 Br. apartment should cost you no more than8 to 10k Bacolod is becoming too much of a Rat Race. We are moving to the Provence
11 people on 1500 a month . Strol on!!!
Where are you getting that he supports 11 people?
This guy is walking into a trap.
Congrats on your planning and success, Sir. But your girlfriend's family of 10 are sure using her. Why doesn't she help out only Mom and Dad?
My wife lives on Bacolod and I'll be there next month, if you need help vetting your woman we can help. Filipinas can be scammers.
