this is so true lol. i play guitar, and for the most part i know what a guitar will be like if i see one in a room. but pianos vary so wildly (for better or worse) that if there is an acoustic piano I absolutely have to see what it sounds and feels like.
My father who was an old school Jazz pianist in NYC brought this one step further…we were in a hotel in Rome Italy and my dad got up from his chair and started to chat with the piano player working that night…. …and the guy asked my dad to play…well my father played his own arrangement of the jazz Classic Laura and I’ll never forget the look of this guys face when my dad was playing…he probably thought my dad was some New York big mouth ..my father was a very humble guy….another time I remember a guy came up to my dad at a Sam Ash music store and said …man who have you played with, and my dad said ….Everybody !
I don't know if I would call it unfair. After having spent an insane amount of hours practicing the keyboard and the piano as well as having studied at Juilliard, I think Jordan very well deserve to be this good. It's not unfair in any way. Nothing comes for free. You can't expect to be really good at playing the piano without spending a lot of time practicing the art.
From beautiful classical piano to the most amazing jazz-rock fusion with Liquid Tension Experiment. Mr Rudess is indeed a musical talent par excellence.
Could you believe your ears if a guy like Jordan just walked and sat for a minute to play the most beautiful thing you'd hear that day and he just walked off as if nothing happened?
You're lucky, whenever I come across a piano in public it's always, "DON'T PLAY, DON'T LOOK, DON'T TOUCH, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT PIANOS REEEEEEEEEEEE" and I'm like, I just want to play for a little bit
Umm, sir? Did you ask to use the piano? It's always someone who in no way represents the owners (the ones who keep a piano in a public space) and apparently doesn't understand the difference between some child/hooligan slamming indiscriminately on the keys vs. someone who obviously knows what they're doing 🙄.
I just told my granddaughter that you can be rich and famous, charge hundreds of dollars to come to see you and play, then do it in a hotel and people just walk by.
I wish I could convince Jordan to record for and old school Player-Piano. Even better if it could be encoded for Duo-Art, Ampico or Welte Mignon. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Google is your friend.
Imagine casually arriving at a hotel lobby after a long day and getting to hearJordan play live.
And yet people are just strolling by like he isn't there doing Jordan things.
I would have shit my pants.
umm i -
Im gonna cry
I can't imagine
This piano has increased in value and prestige
Do people actually understand whats like to see a pIano you've never seen/heard before when you are a pianist? Its almost impossible not to play it...

No, they don't understand...
Ebbe tide....
One of my favourites jazz ballads...
Love You Mr Rudess, God bless You.. ❤

Who is your dad?
@@csantana1971 a real somebody
Walks in, makes some magic, walks out. Like a Boss J 🔥🔥
Walks in, plays something so good, casually walks out. Unfair how good he is. Leaves me in awe everytime.
Totally!!

The piano hero
Jordan, your talent is simply breathtaking. I can't wait for you and Dream Theater to come to Australia.
I'd love to hear Jordan's interpretation of Strange Meadowlark.
I'm surprised it was in tune. Sounds pretty good!
The piano did not see that coming, it's probably still there, waiting for him to come back.
That felt right. I get that feeling too when I see an abandoned piano....and of course no one to hear that's out of range.

always magical hands. awesome playing.
I would love to hear more of this style piano worked into dream theater
"Notes on a Dream" is an album of Jordan doing classical piano only arrangements of Dream Theater songs and it's FANTASTIC
the flurry of notes ............. so signature mr Jordan
I could sit and listen to Jordan play piano all day
This is just awesome Jordan sir…
Could you believe your ears if a guy like Jordan just walked and sat for a minute to play the most beautiful thing you'd hear that day and he just walked off as if nothing happened?
Mr cool guy... love it!
That was hilarious!!!!!! Lol
The way you got up and walked off like a thief in the night hahaha
Almost made cry this was Beautiful
Unbelievably beautiful wasnt it
The vibrations he put in the air, just wow.
Me: Hey Jordan, you wanna go get something to bite?
Jordan: Not before I write my sonata for the day
Me walking past:
"Now do Goldfinger!"
You are the master👏🏻
Pianos Always attract you just to have you bless them.
People just strolling by like “ehh wizards play piano like that all the time at this place”
I'd be even more impressed if we had footage of Jordan dancing in the lobby like Christopher Walken in "Weapon of Choice."
Amazing Jordan!
Jordan you are the GOAT !!
The best version of Ebb tide I've ever heard ❤️❤️👏👏👏👍👍
Excellente!!

@@steamer2k319 Why would I ask to play it if there's a sign already saying not to touch it? 😂
@@sangheili333
Well, yeah, if the owner left a note there's not much for it. Maybe too much actual misuse in those cases 😒.
Wow that brought tears to my eyes. Such beautiful playing.
Jordan plays as if he had four hands going all at once.
Bravo! Passer bys! Tough crowd
A Living Genius! x
People around don't know how fortunate they were.
watching you come out of the elevator and walk to that gorgeous piano reminded me of something... there are actual moments where you aren't playing!
This is so good 😢
Your wonderful playing deserved a little more space in the back ;-)
that piano was grand before. Now Its Grand
👍👏👏👏👏 love it
THAT IS SICK!!!
He plays „Ebb Tide „ with a lot of Waves!👍👍
People just walking by, not knowing what they are missing :(
I see stupid people.
I love this!
Beautiful
Amazing!!!!
Jordan was the reason i got back into playing keys
Legend !
From 0:30-0:36 seconds, does anyone know what that kind of arpeggiation/run is called, as in the interval?
Like A King ! 👑
Genius..
I bet those keys haven't been touched like that in years
someone should hire this guy
Do more videos like this please!
Didn't they offer you a job as lounge pianist at the bar? 😂😂
Imagine if it wasn't tuned because it's just a display piece.
WOWWW
Now there's an idea for rest days when on tour. ;)
Jordan being Jordan: before breakfast he warms up his hands plyaing piano so his food is at the same temperature of his hands…
I just told my granddaughter that you can be rich and famous, charge hundreds of dollars to come to see you and play, then do it in a hotel and people just walk by.
The Wizard can't resist.
It's a challenge. But often I'm done fast playing. If the piano "does not talk back" it's over... Mine talks back. It's a Feurich.
ah this is love
What did he play? Any music piece?
1:05 that chord

that hotel must be blessed
Hotel manager comes and swats him with newspaper... "That piano is for display only!!!"
And people just walked on by. I"d stop and enjoy!
Me walking into that hotel "It looks just like...! Nah, can't be.."
I wish I'd find a drumset at a hotel...
Happy birthday Jordan
All I can hear in my head is Dana Carvey's Church Lady character saying "Well, isn't that special?!"
Or the "Don't make me sing" sketch.
grande jordaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnn number one!!!
That piano was broken before he played it
Отменный тапёр, я как будто перенёсся на 100 лет назад👍
I can sit down at a piano like Jordan with much grace but it stops there..!
What piece did he play?
Well, it ain't Motel 6!
... And it was roughly in tune
Should’ve popped that top, let that resonance ring out!!
and he didn't push in the seat.... LOL jk incredible skill
I'll grab a seat near the piano and pouring my juice in wine glass and close my eyes. 😍
Ebb Tide...❤
Excuse me... Where's the ice machine?😜
Who is this guy?
The piano found you
😍😍
Bummer...no pitch-bend-wheel.
Cool thanks Jordan rudess
🤘😎🤘🇬🇧
Play Stockhausen
Please
Sir I begg you, please play on Indian harmonium please... ❤❤❤❤
He is playing like a sinto (german gypsy )
how "rude" of him!
I'd like my 1:38 back please and thank you.
