  • There's a lot to like about this little electric crossover, but some might find its range too short.

    I ordered an XC40 Recharge when that model first came out, almost 2 years ago now...and at that time I complained to Volvo customer support that the vehicle didn't have CarPlay and they told me in August of 2020 it was "coming very soon" 😆. I never took delivery of that vehicle (for many other reasons) but my neighbor bought one at the time and she is furious it still doesn't have CarPlay. I warned her not to trust what they were promising and to never assume she'll get anything that's not already on the vehicle. She had more faith, but now she's almost 2 years into her lease and still no CarPlay for her. Can't believe Volvo hasn't figured it out yet 🤦‍♂️

    Good review.. Just did my first long trip in my C40 (soCal to SF Bay area) and the range wasn't an issue.. Had to charge 3 times and the car's computer made it super easy.. Each charging stop was about 40 min, but it could've been less if I had trusted the car and just charged to the % it recommended to make it to the next stop. But since it was my first trip, I was worried about how it would calculate range, including head/tail wind, hills (up the grapevine, etc). On the way home, I didn't charge as much and the stops were much shorter. Electrify America almost NEVER charges at the advertised rate.. so many things contributing to that speed, but it's still fast enuff for my needs.. 20%-90% SoC cost $15 give or take while on the road. I charge at home mostly (16 - 25/KwH depending on our other usage). Normally I just top off every night and it's never been more than $15. It's not a perfect car, but it's very fun to drive and i absolutely love that so much stuff is controlled by VOICE!! Turning off.on one pedal drive, all the climate controls, audio stuff and more. Also agree with you about the steering assist.. Don't like being in the right side of the lane when passing trucks.. and it always tried to get off the highway at each exit if I was travelling in the right lane. Agree about rear visibility.. Volvo should've put in a LCD rearview mirror and camera system to mitigate that.. For me, this is a great car for around town and the occasional road trip. Not sure it would be my choice in a colder climate as range would take a huge hit and it definitely would not be my only car as the back seats are not usable for anyone over 6 ft. REALLY cramped back there (I'm 6'2"). But a beautiful design and that blue color is fantastic.

    I'm just curious as to which of the chargers was used.
    At 5:03 to 5:05 mark of the video, was shown a charger connection with a broken panel, i.e., right side of the handle was broken and showing the black plastic interior.
    After that, at roughly 5:08 onwards the charger connection was shown wholesome, white plastics instead of the black covers

    Beautiful Review Emme... I Love the Volvo C40 Recharge especially the Fjord Blue 💙... I must say I have never gotten Frunky in the Frunk, 🤔🤣🤣🤣, you need a Hug and Kiss for that, Thank You For Making My Day.... The 226 mile range is actually not bad when you consider it weighs 4700 pounds, it has all that power- torque with a 0-60 time of 4.7 secs. I normally commute 30-40 miles per day, so I could manage the 226 mile range... The large 9" infotainment system is a big plus... I love the ability, as you said to have extra Info to Dial in and Customize your Options... All those Driver Aids yep I love them... Not needing Key or Push a Button to start it is a very awesome feature.... I Love You Emme My Sweet Girlfriend....Norwegian Michael of Tulsa ...😁👍😍🥰😘🤗🇳🇴💜💜💜💙💙💙

    Very interesting video! The Volvo C40 is a good electric car with an excellent turn of pace, enough range and a quality interior.

    Good overview and but have misinformed about how fast charging works. You can’t get 150 Kw at 53%.

    I wish I could order my next Volvo via subscription program CareByVolvo which was cancelled in CALIFORNIA (around just before COVID hit I think), due to dealerships complaining about orders bypassing their showrooms. I hear Volvo is trying to BRING IT BACK to California. Fingers crossed. 😭

    $27 to recharge this at home? Does that mean your electric company charges roughly 35 cents per kWh?

    Low range compared to what, the Tesla semi? The headline made me think it was going to have a 140 mile range.

    I understand that all the can be ordered at this point is the 2023 model. And with that it no longer has the blacked out roof. Rather, is the car color. Disappointing

    I got my driver's license 35 years ago and owned many hatchbacks, wannabee hatchbacks or hatchbacky SUV's like this one or my ID 4. One thing I never understood (and it's truly ridiculous and stupid): why automakers use the FIXED CARGO COVER? What's it's purpose and functionality? Every time I see one I want to rip it out. It minimizes storage space, it abstracts visibility+++. Yes, it covers ur groceries or ur luggage by cutting down the available space. Why can't the use rollable covers like....the Audi Q5 (along with many other vehicles). Just bc of that fixed cover I would never buy this EV. Why did I get the ID 4. I didn't pay attention and I assumed since it's an Audi cousin the "trunk" cover would come in a rollable form.

      Do you feel the urge to tear off a fixed cargo cover on a car that doesn't belong to you? If so, you'd probably be arrested for vandalism.

    id rather get a rav4 prime... use full EV mode around town and ICE for longer trips.. or both for crasy performance... way less money too

      Actually with the mark ups that dealers are putting on the RAV4 prime, it costs the same amount as the C40.

    OMG 😭😭 🤔 60k for outdated infotainment screens and dash. 60k for 226 miles so that mean you can only go 113 miles one way 113 mile back home with out having to stop for a change. But look at she said it 80 degrees and she is on a freeway. So going above 50 mph and running AC 💨 Also Navigation Now Your Looking At 73 72 miles one way. Now Again 60k for about 150 miles comfortably. FOH 😩 Volvo Your Crazy For This 23k is pushing it to me. It's damn near a 2014 Bmw i3

    Unreliable public EV recharging availability rears its ugly head again.

    • @frankcoffey
      @frankcoffey 2 роки тому

      Yep, that has to get better. Tesla is doing a better job and even those get an error occasionally. I just took a 2000 mile trip in a Tesla Model 3 LR and we had to stop 15 times to charge. Only one stall returned an error and I had to move to another stall. The charging station in Colorado Springs was full so we had to continue on to Monument Co... after paying a dollar to get out of the parking garage. I'll never stop there again.

      That low rate probably indicates the cable cooling system is bad (yes, the cable is liquid cooled)

      EV is great for local commutes but I'd prefer the guaranteed availability of I.C.E gas stations for a long multi-state roadtrip, even with current gas prices.

    • @frankcoffey
      @frankcoffey 2 роки тому

      @@ivanlowjones Right now I would too depending on the route. In our case my wife wanted to try it to see what happened and all went well. We did have the long range Tesla and a supercharger rich route, don't think I would want to try it in a short range EV.
