From what I remember the FDA said that it’s very rare with finasteride. I’ve used their products before and have never had any issues. I watched unbiased reviews, looked in to what the FDA said, and watched sponsorships from other much larger creators like H3 and Phillip DeFranco. I would never want to mislead my community or put their health at risk. :)

It was such a downfall. They should have looked for other more simple ways to prevent bot accounts from purchasing membership. For example, email verification, max one account creation per day/week, quest point or total level requirement for new players who want to subscribe with certain payment methods.

Yea the eoc was crazy one of the biggest mistakes a mmo can make is changing the combat system even if the combat system is "better" it turn's the game into a different game causing most players to quit.

Funnily enough, I started playing just in 2009. So I never experienced the wildernes as it was and is now. But nevertheless it wasn't boring for me. There were regular, self-organized revenant hunts that started in the GE and were a ton of fun as a f2p account. The clan-wars and safe pvp was also still pretty frequently visited. Only after ~2010 these features were rarely used anymore and abandoned, alongside minigames such as fist of guthix. And even more so after the wildernes came back and all of these things were literaly hid in a dirt cave near falador.
I actually said fuck it after the whole “anti bottling” update and started botting myself. Not for money or anything, I really just didn’t enjoy the game outside of PVP and I didn’t want to grind stats myself to go participate in the gang war that was BH where I’d loose more than I gained. I quit soon after and got into private servers. Now days I don’t bot anymore, when they brought back free trade and Wildy it was well worth it again to play the actual game.
I've never botted myself, but if i ever get wrongfully banned, or jagex pull this sort of thing again i'm going to learn how to bot until i get back every single gp that's lost. It sucks having the feeling in the back of your mind playing a game ran by a developer with an incredibly shady past, and somewhat shady present. Osrs is a great game despite the company though
I don't really have a problem if someone is just botting skilling skills and not farming gold or bosses. This is like my 3rd or 4th main I've had to restart so excuse me if I don't wanna put 1000 hours back into shit I've done already. Like I maxed strength 100% on my own again this time but then I said fuck it and auto clicked 99 mining(took about a month) and 90 mining on a pure/alt soon to be 99 too.

No one wanted EOC and they messed up releasing EOC in a very bad state. Not only they forced something nobody wanted, but they didn't even delivered a good content. Nowadays EOC works extremely well and I like it

I had so many high level acc and didn’t want to quit but I hated this new version of the game. For some reason I can’t remember his name but a big UA-camr at the time (works for jagex now) proposed the idea of a old school rs and the community basically said, we will come back if you make an older version of rs. So nearly a year later, they released OSRS.

I remember the entire start of the game being turned into a corny ass dragon mini quest instead of tutorial island and the entire time it would pop up ads to pay for membership it was so bad. As a pker that played from 2003-now these updates were brutal, we made the most of BH but it was shit, when they announced the return of wilderness and free trade the scenes on teamspeak were immense we all celebrated like we had won the lottery lol I still have the recording its cringe af but very nostalgic.
Before this update, think of Runescape as a healthy person with all their limbs and fully functioning organs. This update was the metaphorical equivalent to getting hit by a truck, surviving with no legs and having to endure 3 years of rehabilitation, then when you can finally walk, albeit with prosthetic legs, a company called EOC makes electronic legs for you that end up running you in front of another truck. Before this, the company was a family run business, then after this it wasn't run by the same family anymore.
Too late, GE is already there, just like all the monsters that are created mainly for bots. It's way more easy to receive ores or essence by beïng a fighter, then by beïng a miner, which is obviously completely ridiculous.
One time I called one of my friends and asked them to call that number you used to be able to call to get a runescape membership charged to your phone provider. They was like 9 and had no clue what it all meant. I was 10 at the time. I imagine many other people used to call the number and charge their parents phone providers too. It's honestly the company's fault for making fraud so easy.
Eoc was an update that changed runescape on how its being played.(a revamp) Removing wilderniss and trading was an update in an existing runescape that people liked.
Mod Mark was just crushing big macs left and right while he forced EoC on all of us. Yelling at his peons to enforce the update while gathering him more food to eat. So much shame.

6:10 I actually enjoyed "Rev Hunting" quite a bit. It was when you would intentionally run around with the goal of encountering one of these randomly wandering revs. I made quite a bit of money from the good drops, since not many were doing it.

Man trade limits were the absolute worst. I had been playing for a few years when that update released but it came out just a few days after I got hacked and lost everything. I had a good friend with a blue phat, 3a and the works who wanted to help out but was so limited. The limit was based on your QP so he was basically like “hey dude use it as a reason to start questing more. Every time we can trade again and are both online I’ll give you your max gp” so I started questing my ass off. Every 15-30 minutes a few times a day I’d meet them at the ge and they’d give me 15-30k whatever the limit was. It was such a pain but if it wasn’t for that dude I probably would have stopped playing after losing everything at such a young age.

Sorry, the title (and premise) of your video is false. I was playing Runescape at the time and it was in fact communicated that the stolen credit card issue was the main reason. Throughout the whole video I was thinking: “but what about the stolen credit cards?”, how could I have known that other than from the time I was still playing Runescape?
My problem with BH was that it kinda took away the spirit of what made the Wildy fun to begin with, since it was this tiny little cramped crater instead of a massive expanse of the map. I missed the element of surprise, going through the wildy with clanmates and the panic of seeing white dots show up. Revs were a joke too; they hit way above what their CB level should be even if you had BIS gear and once you had a few mil to your name their drops were laughable. That other comment I saw is true; RS never fully recovered from this. I still have a vivid memory of my nearly-full friend list all being offline just a month or two after this update. IMO this felt like such a half-assed solution to bots at the time considering detection software was a thing even back in 07.
Despite all the grief Jagex gets I gsnuinely love their design philosophy and dedication to the playerbase. Every single game dev has to deal with clueless upper management, I don't hold it against them.

Didn’t EOC happen around 2008 as well? Or 2009? That’s 2 game killing updates within 2-3 years of each other. Honestly, coming out with OSRS and adding more content to it is what saved Jagex from bankruptcy, imo. It’s funny/ironic how players were “bored” of early osrs, and gave Jagex so many opportunities to shut down the game, citing “lack of player interest” as the main reason...but that may have been their first step towards the UK version of filing chapter 11 (bankruptcy), and I think it was people like Ash who called them out on this and actually helped push content development forward.

I believe it took them roughly 4 years to revert changes that destroyed the game for kids, those 4 years most of us wouldn't have had to play past that because we wouldv'e been done given we'd already put in 3 years when the update came out.. think about the timeline, its like 5-7 years to complete this game, yet its been out and released again twice over 15 years... so everyone has had to, at year 7, restart, with rares being worthless, and being 4 years older, not having as much passion for the game, and then play another 8 years to complete the game...
but like, by the time you restarted the "new OSRS", you would have already been onto another game.. a double marketting scam, hey, lets restart it all again, run the game for another 7+ years, a third re-run of this fuckin pixelated scam in disguise

Dude ill never forget how the wilderness was before this update. It was how it was meant to be. A deadly wasteland. You had people at literally every spot in the wild for pretty much no reason. It was impossible to move through the wild safely on popular worlds. PKing was in its prime. Massive clan battles and everything.
BH was horrible. I don’t know how they thought that was going to promote 1v1s. Essentially, maxed clans would camp in the middle and when you teled to your target you’d get piled and die. Any single pker that actually would get the kill would have a timer on which people would once again pile them as well. They tried to remove ‘grieving’ by making an actual grieving minigame. Truthfully if eoc/rs3 released in the state it is now instead of what it was it probably would have done a lot better. No revolution/legacy mode just made combat a chore no matter what
Yea eoc really killed runescape the game was way more popular before eoc they where forced to make osrs because if they did not they would be bankrupt by now almost nobody played rs3.
This was really the beginning of that period of change
No one wanted EOC and they messed up releasing EOC in a very bad state.
Not only they forced something nobody wanted, but they didn't even delivered a good content.
Nowadays EOC works extremely well and I like it

@@FABIOof119 they didn’t release OSRS because they wanted to implement EOC; they released OSRS because the backlash from releasing EOC was so great. If 2007scape had not fallen into their laps, RS would mostly be dead in comparison. 30% of the population is on RS3; 70% is OSRS.

I had so many high level acc and didn’t want to quit but I hated this new version of the game. For some reason I can’t remember his name but a big UA-camr at the time (works for jagex now) proposed the idea of a old school rs and the community basically said, we will come back if you make an older version of rs. So nearly a year later, they released OSRS.

I remember the entire start of the game being turned into a corny ass dragon mini quest instead of tutorial island and the entire time it would pop up ads to pay for membership it was so bad. I got sad even thinking about that shitty 2 year transition from 08-2010ish. BUT members content was probably at its peak for me besides no wilderness and the newer graphics sucked

As a pker that played from 2003-now these updates were brutal, we made the most of BH but it was shit, when they announced the return of wilderness and free trade the scenes on teamspeak were immense we all celebrated like we had won the lottery lol I still have the recording its cringe af but very nostalgic.

Before this update, think of Runescape as a healthy person with all their limbs and fully functioning organs.
This update was the metaphorical equivalent to getting hit by a truck, surviving with no legs and having to endure 3 years of rehabilitation, then when you can finally walk, albeit with prosthetic legs, a company called EOC makes electronic legs for you that end up running you in front of another truck.
Before this, the company was a family run business, then after this it wasn't run by the same family anymore.

Too late, GE is already there, just like all the monsters that are created mainly for bots. It's way more easy to receive ores or essence by beïng a fighter, then by beïng a miner, which is obviously completely ridiculous.

One time I called one of my friends and asked them to call that number you used to be able to call to get a runescape membership charged to your phone provider. They was like 9 and had no clue what it all meant. I was 10 at the time. I imagine many other people used to call the number and charge their parents phone providers too. It's honestly the company's fault for making fraud so easy.

It definitely hurt the game but they were pretty sly with it :P When the squeal was first introduced you couldn’t buy spins, so everyone got used to it and maybe even liked it. Then a month later they announced buyable spins.
I remember when this went live, neither me or my friends read news posts etc, we found out about updates when they were here, anyway i was borrowing a sgs for a slayer task when this hit, fair to say my friend was livid
I remember this update, I was pking in edgeville on my 42 def range voider. Logged out and back in to this insanity. Instantly logged back out and returned a few months later to play castle wars, after that diet out I was gone. Came back in 2014 and have been playing on and off since

6:10 I actually enjoyed "Rev Hunting" quite a bit. It was when you would intentionally run around with the goal of encountering one of these randomly wandering revs. I made quite a bit of money from the good drops, since not many were doing it.

Man trade limits were the absolute worst. I had been playing for a few years when that update released but it came out just a few days after I got hacked and lost everything. I had a good friend with a blue phat, 3a and the works who wanted to help out but was so limited. The limit was based on your QP so he was basically like “hey dude use it as a reason to start questing more. Every time we can trade again and are both online I’ll give you your max gp” so I started questing my ass off. Every 15-30 minutes a few times a day I’d meet them at the ge and they’d give me 15-30k whatever the limit was. It was such a pain but if it wasn’t for that dude I probably would have stopped playing after losing everything at such a young age.
I feel like osrs would have gone under if it wasn't for bots. I swear bots are buying more membership then actually players

Sorry, the title (and premise) of your video is false. I was playing Runescape at the time and it was in fact communicated that the stolen credit card issue was the main reason. Throughout the whole video I was thinking: “but what about the stolen credit cards?”, how could I have known that other than from the time I was still playing Runescape?
My problem with BH was that it kinda took away the spirit of what made the Wildy fun to begin with, since it was this tiny little cramped crater instead of a massive expanse of the map. I missed the element of surprise, going through the wildy with clanmates and the panic of seeing white dots show up. Revs were a joke too; they hit way above what their CB level should be even if you had BIS gear and once you had a few mil to your name their drops were laughable.
That other comment I saw is true; RS never fully recovered from this. I still have a vivid memory of my nearly-full friend list all being offline just a month or two after this update. IMO this felt like such a half-assed solution to bots at the time considering detection software was a thing even back in 07.

Despite all the grief Jagex gets I gsnuinely love their design philosophy and dedication to the playerbase. Every single game dev has to deal with clueless upper management, I don't hold it against them.

@@mimosa27 Pretty much. Everyone hates upper management in video game companies, they're usually responsible for most of the idiotic things big devs do. Blizzard is run by their chinese overlords, EA is run by suits, etc.

Best update imo. We all had a healthy bank no staking no fxking gambling and we were all happy and actually enjoying the game.
PKn and free trade is part of the game. I agree DA and gambling rings are bad but pkn what got me in this game and free trade is nice when you got actual friends that are trustworthy

I would argue more that pkn just gotten stale since it is who can get the better rng. I couldn't care about losing some gp bc I am having fun while doing so (just like everything else in life with actual money like going to the movies). The game is for entertainment, not for a living. I find the DA entertaining too but the problem is it does feed gambling addictions and young people don't need that addiction to start at a early age. Only reason I am against the DA.

Didn’t EOC happen around 2008 as well? Or 2009? That’s 2 game killing updates within 2-3 years of each other. Honestly, coming out with OSRS and adding more content to it is what saved Jagex from bankruptcy, imo. It’s funny/ironic how players were “bored” of early osrs, and gave Jagex so many opportunities to shut down the game, citing “lack of player interest” as the main reason...but that may have been their first step towards the UK version of filing chapter 11 (bankruptcy), and I think it was people like Ash who called them out on this and actually helped push content development forward.

Its so strange hearing this. At that time i was around 17 just playing the game without a clue that was happening behind the scenes.
I believe it took them roughly 4 years to revert changes that destroyed the game for kids, those 4 years most of us wouldn't have had to play past that because we wouldv'e been done given we'd already put in 3 years when the update came out.. think about the timeline, its like 5-7 years to complete this game, yet its been out and released again twice over 15 years... so everyone has had to, at year 7, restart, with rares being worthless, and being 4 years older, not having as much passion for the game, and then play another 8 years to complete the game...
but like, by the time you restarted the "new OSRS", you would have already been onto another game.. a double marketting scam, hey, lets restart it all again, run the game for another 7+ years, a third re-run of this fuckin pixelated scam in disguise
Mod Shauny, easily one of the favorite JMods for RS3. He was very beloved and we still miss him.

Streamers and such creates content and then players start slaving after them, creating unoriginal styles in PVP, and of course, hackers and such are the ones who truly killed it.

RuneScape's player base is definitely aging and changing. 10 years ago this game was all kids, now its all teens/adults. That's probably a huge reason the game has become what it is.

The thing is, Iddison isn't as much of a villain as Mod Mark had painted him to be. Mod Mark seemed to have done exactly what he had accused Iddison of in RS3: Pushing the F2P players to buy membership in one way or another, in whatever ways possible. Don't believe me? Iddison resigned in 2009, Mark took over right after him and left Jagex in Dec of 2014.
The Squeal of Fortune was released in 2012.

How to kill an MMO:
1. Remove PvP
2. Remove trading
3. Remove chat
4. Shut down servers

Dude ill never forget how the wilderness was before this update. It was how it was meant to be. A deadly wasteland. You had people at literally every spot in the wild for pretty much no reason. It was impossible to move through the wild safely on popular worlds. PKing was in its prime. Massive clan battles and everything.
EOC killed rs2. I actually enjoyed bh alot especially in f2p.

BH was horrible. I don’t know how they thought that was going to promote 1v1s. Essentially, maxed clans would camp in the middle and when you teled to your target you’d get piled and die. Any single pker that actually would get the kill would have a timer on which people would once again pile them as well. They tried to remove ‘grieving’ by making an actual grieving minigame. Big brain mode.
