@@ImNotRoad It's actually not too bad. I'm Drykyu, the third person at the end, and it's actually surprisingly good. And no, I'm not being paid to say that. I think that the team behind Raid are assholes. However the game itself is quite fun.
Moral of the story, Mod Ash is the only thing between the servers melting and Runescape running.
When the maintenance lasts longer than expected you can imagine dozens of people at JAGEX putting out fires.

3:30 I was one of those kids who saw Runescape on Miniclip and had no idea what they were doing and had never played an MMO before, I had to sneak it because my parents said I couldn't make an account. I specifically remember crying and lying about it when I got scammed out of my Addy kiteshield and most of my gold to some dude in Varrock who said he would trim it... I thought we were friends because we mined iron together. Fucking memories, man.
I feel that LOL, I got scammed so many times as a kid. Miniclip is how I found RS too :)
Same here my man. My Christian parents didn’t like the idea of magic and evil monsters, so I had to sneak down at 5am on Saturday’s to play for a few hours before they woke up.

Same dude. I was so hyped when i got 40 attack (with 1 str because i didn't know how to train it) and got 30k to buy a rune scimitar. I went to varrock west bank, and this dude sold me a damn noted bronze scimitar because i was too excited to pay attention. I stopped playing for a week, got back on, and got scammed for my account. "Did you know jagex doesn't let you say your password? ********* see!"
Runescape taught me a lot about the world in a short period of time.
Moral of the story. Mod Ash saves the day numerous times. Odds are he's under paid. Jagex really should give him like a mil bonus check just for everything he's done

My first membership required I go exchange AUD for GBP (after convincing the parents ofc) and posting it in an envelope with my account name to an address in England.
I was on holiday when they finally received my payment and upgraded my account - I couldn't wait to get home and explore beyond the Falador gate.

@@professionalfangster1510 EOC, Squeal of fortune and many other things that ran runescape to the fucking ground. Mr. Markdonalds was the biggest influence why these shitty updates were introduced.
It wasn't though. Runescape was a different world back then, the community was like no other and it is possible that a similar community won't ever exist again. The social side of the game was what made it so fun. It was a genuine mmoRPG.
It was a time when the majority of people on the internet were children, and we didn't have too many choices of where to flock to. Children are still on the internet, but they have different games to go to, and the development team focuses on making the game work for the super addicts and tryhards. Which is fine, that's the current playerbase, but it's an unfriendly model to new players and especially to children.

the other 40, well, I have no excuses..... or regrets.

Runescape from 2001 - 2004 was so amazing.
I know I’m maybe a boomer for this one, but I kinda loved RS classic. There was a certain nostalgia to the very low Rez nature of the game. OSRS is dope though and I play often!

I had such a great time in early RuneScape. It was a chaotic and uncertain time.
The reason why early Runescape was so good is because of all the fun and crazy shit that we went through. I quit in 2007 once things started to get more polished...

I've played since Classic. Still play today. I'm 31. Lol. Although I lost my main to the absolutely unplayable RS3. But since mobile came out for OSRS I have more time to play and made a new account.
Also, absolutely love your channel. Bringing back all the good memories and nostalgia.
I remember logging into runescape and getting merced in lumby by pvpers. It was a crazy introduction to the game.

Im 33.. Started playin runescape when i was like 12 or 13.. I remember there was no membership... There was only 10 worlds.. No one had a 99 the closest person was bluerose13x at 98 smithing.. It was all 2D.. U could only fight in wild... And you couldnt see anyones level unless they were in the wild... No such thing as a pure... First to build pure was a dude named kappa who did it with 10 def.. 40 attack and 70-80str

I just finally started playing Runescape this week. Total noob. And already got email from Jagex trying to use inflation as an excuse to raise prices on an intangible digital service. So I guess good thing they did it now so I can quit before I get too sucked in?

We still do not have a customer service and customers randomly get locked out from the service they pay for and the only man who seems like he is actually working with both his brains and his heart is Mod Ash.

I joined up as "Outkastman20" way back... Maybe... 2002, or 2003 ish. Never played OG Runescape. Even when I had Membership and they brought it back as "Runescape Classic". Heard about it from my friend down my street at the time.
GE was literally the GOD SEND update imo. Massive QOL improvement.
Then I became an adult, had to be an adult, the game got shelved until recently when I discovered OSRS Mobile. Had to make a new account though. Pretty sure my old one got deleted or probably hacked at some point being I couldn't log in. It's also possible I changed the name and password and totally forgot
Either way, I'm glad I restarted, got to stat my character properly this time around, and hitting up them old quests felt really nostalgic, even if the game isn't EXACTLY the same as before.
Despite the ups and downs, this game forever holds a place in my heart.

Honestly, the game now is worse then it was back in the day.. everything now is about being toxic and maxing xp and clicks. rather then actual adventure and having fun. Seems more like a single player game with other people roaming around.. the only way you interact with other players is the wilderness, and its dead and people call it “toxic”. Idk i miss the way it was back in the day
That's not from the game changing, that's the players. MMOs in general have become this way, the internet is not how it was before

RSC was the real game, when it started,when RS2 was released everyone hated it and still played RSC untill they decided you have to play RS2 and migrated told everyone to migrate your items there.RS2 was fun,played it until RS3,but RSC and all that grind,merchanting in the city to make cash for R2H and go pking to pk another one was the shit.I still remember when i pked my first R2H and it was sick experience.
