I think the important part I learned from sims is to keep the bar that you're flipping over in center frame. Zero throttle on the downward part, and throttle up when you're underneath it. You're over rotating... oh i guess you're trying to somersault/flip first I guess as well, but do normal matties first. lol
Yeah thats the struggle lol! Im trying something I am not prepared for. As for your drone flipping out at 0 throttle, do you have air mode turned on? That helped me with the same issue.
God same. I can't find a place that's high enough to learn them. Need a bar at like 60 feet to learn how to do them. I do them a ton in sims and think I understand them, then try them in mid air and gravity always surprises me. The rate at which your drone falls I think is super important to learn to be able to do them and every drone is completely different. Also a lot of my drones tumble when they have zero throttle that I don't understand what setting needs to be changed to make them stabilize.
@octavienrechcintero I turned off permanent airmode and set it to my 3-way modes switch. Normal acro has air mode, next is acro without air mode and last is angle mode. I use acro without air mode for perching, keeps me from bouncing off
Matty flips are on a different level than a lot of the other tricks we tend to learn first. Don't get discouraged. Practicing over a nice grass field is the best place and you'll find your quad can take grass pretty well. I lost track of how many frames I destroyed when learning to Matty, because I (like a moron) learned by doing Matty's around power lines above my street... lol If you want an alternate place to try this, you might consider the stadium lights there in that park, hear me out lol. Instead of going over>under the obstacle when practicing, you can do the trick off to the side of the lights and just keep the lights in your view at the edge of your video. Then just fly "over" (so the lights would be in the lower right or lower left of your view) then begin to rotate forward when you are parallel to, but higher than, the lights and finish the trick with the lights in the upper right or left side of your goggles, if that makes sense. You'll have more room for error and it will also help you to practice keeping your Matty's tight with the obstacle in frame.

@@timofpv6 Yeah I figured that was the setting but I think airmode causes other issues. I need to test it on and off I guess on different drones.

You need to enable "airmode" so that the drone stays stabilized when you have 0 throttle.

I am thankful for soft grass! I will try that because anything is better than smacking the ground 30 times!
