I'm conflicted about visiting the battlefield. Our class had a field trip when I was 8, to the Gettysburg battlefield. We waited through the boring stuff until we were allowed to run all over the place and scramble on the rocks. I smelt something...I couldnt identify, stinky, smokey. Noise, booming, so loud. I looked up and there was a group of seven men sitting on the lower rocks. One had nodded off, but his friend nudged him to wake him, and they stared at me with terrified eyes. I had a whole lot of feelings at once. Exhaustion. And frustration, as the could not tell friends from enemies in the dust and smoke. They were afraid they were shooting at their own troops. Everyone was so covered in dust there was no telling, even the ones in front of me. They stared at me as though they had seen a ghost....and I think they might have. I don't know which side they fought for....they just wanted to go home. It's amazing what I learned about the civil war that day, and none of it was in the dry lecture they gave us. I gasped in air and they vanished, along with the noise and smell. I was looking at rocks, and a green meadow. Sunny day. As I looked seriously disoriented, one of the ladies that worked there took my hand and asked if I was okay. "I don't know...I think so." "Did you see something scary?" "Yeah. But I wasn't scared, they were." To my surprise, she just nodded. "That happens. Don't worry about it. It happened a long time ago." I felt much better. It didn't occur to me until I was older how an adult would describe the event.
Thanks for sharing your experience
There are SO many places that aren’t listed on here. I grew up in Arlington, VA, and I currently live in Staunton, VA and there are SO many places that are haunted AF, especially in Staunton.
I used to live in Arlington, VA. I think my house was haunted.
Grew up in Powhatan myself so i fully back what you said
Ive explored the Dejarnette Sanitarium twice with some friends, heard voices and even captured a shadow peaking from the end of a hallway on my gopro. Some crazy stuff happened there
I live in Fredericksburg, the amount of stuff that happens here in unreal, especially next to the Rappahannock river, and physical supernatural things I’ve experienced in culpeper
I worked at Monticello right after high school. The old timers that worked there loved to repeat the wildest ghost stories, I was warned not to stay on the property after dark, especially behind the Ticket building. I did by accident one eveing and on the way to my car, I saw several people walking through the woods (there was a slave cemetary in the woods) I also witnessed a toy horse on wheels move by itself while in the room above Mr. Jefferson's Cabinet, I took the hint and left quickly. The door literally slammed behind me. Someone did not want me there.
That's so cool you got to work there @joannelwatson5066. Those sound like some pretty terrifying experiences. Have you gotten a chance to visit any of these other spooky sites in VA?
I live in Richmond and had an experience at the Edgar Allan Poe museum that scared the sh*t out of me. I was in the original library of primary sources (my friend worked there, I had permission to look and not touch) and legitimately had a bad experience. I won’t go back.
Richmond has a ton of cool paranormal stuff but I recommend the Haunts of Richmond tours in the fall - downtown is just a Mecca.
Thanks so much for checking out this video @spatulagirl7298. Can you share a bit more about your experiences or haunted spots in Richmond?
@@FrightNightScares honestly, it doesn’t sound like much when I type it out, but at the time, I have never felt so much negative energy from something like that.
I was basically just looking at the books and papers (looking being the key word- no touching 😂), and all of a sudden, I just felt like there was something there that wanted me out. Like now. And I started feeling short of breath. When I tell you I FLEW out of that room and down the stairs of the little stone house where the office was, I mean it. Something didn’t want me in there. (Not my proudest moment as a mom either - forgot my 3 year old kid who was playing little Edgar Allan Poe in a program that day 😂, but my husband was there too so he had been keeping an eye on him while I was in the library and brought him downstairs.)
I’ve had a few experiences before (mostly positive with spirits) but never ever have felt anything like this. Afterwards, my girlfriend told me that there was a lot of activity in the stone house and a paranormal group had gotten a HORRIFYING EVP earlier in the week IN THAT LIBRARY so she was glad she didn’t tell me about the activity at first - she wanted to see if I experienced it.
The Poe Museum is absolutely lovely but I haven’t been back. 😂
Virginia may as well be one of the most haunted places in the world.
Thanks for tuning in to the channel @bryanmchugh1307. Have you gotten a chance to vist any of these haunted places in VA?
And yet, no mention of the fact that there’s a legit PoW camp in the middle of Richmond that anyone sensitive knows is haunted. So haunted. People died miserable and starving there. RIP the Union Soldiers held at Belle Isle.
I have visited several of these places. There’s just an uneasy feeling all around Cold Harbor at all times of the day
Thanks for checking out this video @willm5028. Do you remember anything else spooky at any of these haunted places?
@@FrightNightScares just an uneasy feeling around cold harbor. The amount of death at that place…
Even driving by it gives me the heebie jeebies.
I was born in Virginia and I have visited Martha Washington Inn and I would say it is beautiful and creepy.
Thanks for checking out this video @chriscoleman6956. Do you remember anything specific happening when you were there?
Another really interesting video. The USA just seems to be packed with ghosts and hauntings. Yeah, the smell of bodily fluids are never forgotten.
I just started watching this channel. And I can't stop watching the many interesting episodes.
Thanks so much for checking out our channel @mandyscraftscorner. Is there anything in particular you'd like to see us focus on for future video releases?
Another Great Video. I Love it. plz keep them coming.
Thanks @shannonmanley!
If any of y'all cry with what I'm about to tell y'all about my experience in the Martha Washington Inn it's kinda sad
I remember as a kid going to Martha Washington inn as a Field Trip.
The guide was telling us stories about it showing us around the rooms.
I remember getting separated from everyone else when I was hearing light humming from a Woman in the upstairs area of the building.
And of course being a kid I wanted to know what it was so I went up in the attic area.
When I got they're I saw a woman like how you described her but to me she was looked like in her 50s.
When she looked at me she had a look of worry.
As the story goes like you said of waiting for a lover of sorts it was her husband who was a soldier in the war that sadly was killed.
When I asked her what was wrong she told me that she was waiting for her husband he has been gone for a long time.
I went on to tell her to no be sad or worried that he will find his way to you.
Crazy how this trip was in the early 2000s and here it is 2024 and I'm 32 when back then I think I was 9 or 10
That is a super cool story @RedBeardJohnny61. Crazy how some of these things stick with us after all these years. Have you gotten a chance to visit any of these other haunted locales.
We are never too old to learn something new! Born in Illinois, now in Tennessee. Every state has history! Thank you for sharing this! ✌🏼🐰🐣

Thanks for checking out this video @brandyroark7026. Virginia certainly is a beautiful state. Have you personally experienced anything spooky at these haunted battlefields?
@@FrightNightScares yes I have! There is a haunted house down the road from me that I've been chased out of. Also lights are on and their is no electricity. It's pretty scary. I was at the Appomattox battle field and heard gun fire. And several other things.
A good afternoon to enjoy another lesson of history and paranormal.
Thank you, thank you @brianlawson5044.
Williamsburg should get a mention up here, has a rich history and fairly haunted places
I'm from Virginia, and Winchester definitely has paranormal activity /hauntings. As a kid, I experienced things, and so did my other family members
Thanks for checking out this video @breanahayes3030. Can you tell us a bit more about what you experience when you were there?
Winchester full of hauntings still live here on Stephenson depot battleground. Probably literally hundreds of locations
Crawford Road was nuts. Had a crazy experience there about 7 years ago.
I live about a 45 minute drive from the Martha Washington Inn. Heard stories about that place my whole life. I always heard the Crab Orchard Museum in Tazewell, Virginia was haunted as well.
Thanks for tuning into the channel @ojmccelanahan689. Can you share any of these stories about the The Martha Washington Inn or the Crab Orchard Museum?
My childhood home in Virginia was very haunted. When we would talk about it and someone would make fun of us, then boom, the loud noises would start and pictures would fly off the wall. They would leave terrified. Every morning our kitchen cabinets would be open, and the television would be on. We would hear hammering and foot steps at night, and oddly loud water dripping over the bed, and nothing was there. I know it was the man who built it, he died literally with a hammer in his hand, he dug the basement out with a bucket and shovel with his sons. We finally sold it and in our small town it was legandary that the house was haunted and the couple who bought it wanted it because it was haunted! I always felt like I was being watched in that house!😮
That's a very cool but creepy story @Mithras444. Do you care to share what town this was in? It sounds super interesting!
I live in the Appalachian Mountains. The salt mines in Saltville are collapsing now, but they were fought over twice during the Civil War. Multiple places in my area are creepy and it's just forest land.
Thanks for tuning in @lesliemcmillan2971. Do you have any specific spooky stories to share from your area?
Ive lived in VA my entire life. About 1000 feet from Rosewell. I met a girl sitting on part of an out building, I'm guessing. It was rock and what looked like clay forms or very early concrete.
She told me that she didn't want to be there anymore. She looked normal no old clothes, no Indian dress. I asked her if she told her parents that she wanted to leave and she said she can't.
I said I would go to the group and find her parents and when I turn to ask her thier names this chick was straight gone and didn't see her again.
Thanks for sharing that story @timboslice090. That sounds super creepy! Have you gotten a chance to visit any of these other Virginia haunts?
@@FrightNightScares Not these specific one's but there's more not mentioned that I have been to. However this was the only full bodied spirit I've ever seen (and I'm talking no fuzziness, she wasn't see though. She was real by looking at her) I can post more stories I have had if you're interested.
I used to hike around Cold Harbor. Singing "Dixie"!
Thanks for checking out this video @sheldonwheaton881. Have you experienced anything spooky yourself at Cold Harbor?
I lived in Abingdon Virginia Martha Washington Inn isn't the only haunt
Being an HSP, I was at the wilderness battlefield and was walking the 2 mi loop, was early October, upper 70s, muggy, bit when walking up to the wilderness entrance I felt a sense of anxiety, while in there I was covered in goose bumps from head to toe and felt like I was being watched
Thank you for checking out this video @kennygreen9758. That certainly sounds creepy! Have you had a chance to visit any of these other Virginia spooky spots?
