Hey there Scott, I usually use Three Bond 1184, wipe a bit on the inside of the mating surfaces and let it set up for a few minutes before reassembling. That really seems to help. I had one fairly low hour Jonsered though that leaked from everywhere anything came thru the case on the bar side, both bar stud holes, the one inner dog mount hole, as well. I did clean that up and seal it the same way, but I think the only way that thing would reliably not leak would be to leave it empty of oil, starter side down...then it would probally leak out of the cap 🤔 😕
Ive been staring hard at the 1184.. i think i just may paint that sucker with it and see.. cannot hurt.. oh and fwiw. 1184 removes really easy w acetone..couple wipes and its gone.. i see a lot of fellas fight scraping it off after pulling a cylinder. Acetone disolves it..
@@bulletproofsaws One thing with 1184 is it does need a few minutes to tack up, otherwise it just squeezes out of where you put it..😉 I've had really good luck with 1184 in the past for everything from base gasket deletes (before I had my lathe) to sealing intake manifolds on the older saws with the plastic blocks.
@@jimssawsnstuff8903 wholly agree on 1184.. the only time i have seen it fail was when i did not give it time to tack. I don't even try other products anymore..lol
Hi Scott - I got a blue 260 from you and what I am finding is that it doesn't seem like it is using enough bar oil. I have the screw turned all the way out but when I get through a tank of gas it seems like there is very little bar oil used. It's using some and my chain and bar don't seem impacted (yet) but wondering about whether the oiler may need to be replaced? With a Stihl I am used to there being a little bar oil in the tank left when I refuel, but it is mostly used. Thanks for all you do.
Some do some don’t for sure!! Great video and breakdown to show what’s going on
I suspect I would not live in bar oil hell if I didn't have 50 saws floating around shop.... LOL
