Damn right my brother the game itself was interesting growing up around the American version finial fantasy one through three but this one had the best soundtrack. I remember my elder brother stating a good name on a bad game but that was his personal critic, or frustration with the ice boss lol.
Fun fact! Most of the cart was taken up by the music. That, and boss damage transition animations. They actually had to scale it down from what we got!
@@linksbetweendrinks7032 That...seems surprising. SNES music is sequenced ; it should be quite light on storage. Is it rather the samples that weighed on the cartridge space ?
Can be a pretty generic rpg, easy, doesn't have an interesting plot, have an outstanding music, but is important to me in a way that a few games can do nowadays
If you like this game's music (which is already pretty great !), I beg you to check out Rudra no Hihou. Same console, same composer, but infinitely more creative freedom, and one of the best RPG soundtracks of all time.
While I do love RPGs with amazing stories and complicated villains, I do wish we had the generic RPG with a simple "Demon lord" or "Dark king" type of villain from time to time, like this game or the older DQ games.
For decades, this theme has defined how an epic final boss battle has to feel like to me.

It had a sense of urgency, you were up against the DARK KING, in freakin space and if you failed the whole world failed. No pressure.
The music in this game front to back was ahead of its time.

This was the first FF title I ever owned. Such good memories!
First played this through during summer vacation in third grade. Been playing mostly RPGs ever since.
Thank you so much for the extension, there are others, but all the ones I found were looped wrong in a way or other, but this one is perfect.

For sure. It was my first RPG ever. SPAM WHITE MAGIC I THINK THE BAD GUY DUNNA LIKE IT, lol. My brother and I were freaking out.
You are right except for the music part. It DOES have outstanding music.
Always loved the cover art when I was young
The makers of the game said "well, if we have lackluster gameplay, then we better make up for it with the music."

Times when FInal Fantasy was still good.
This battle was so frustrating...Unil I discovered what "cure" does to him!

@@kabukimanindahouse yes really. Spider mode always killed me
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest aka Baby's First RPG.
Baby's first RPG; fair! Baby's first introduction to METAL?
I played it after playing ff2. It had a simple interface but the gameplay was solid, the story was engaging, and the soundtrack rocked.
Dark King, we meet at last.
Indeed. Ann now you will serve me...
@@miho022883 I don't think so! We won't allow you to ruin our World!
Hell yes, epic childhood memories unlocked!
I just realized THIS is the song for Wily in Mega Man minus infinity wtf

Dark king is that all you can muster grrr now you'll see what I really am.
a fucking boomerang...
There's no legendary character; it was just a joke. Now take Phoebe and kill God. She's got your back.
"It's just a prank bro" , proceeds to slap you around with gross tentacles and every type of weapon ever made.
Cast Cure!
Dark King used Cure Bow
At least the music on this game is great. If,not for the music, the game might be a 2/10 instead of 4/10.
When this game exist and why how what happened I'm a fucking secret king how I didn't know this!!!AaaA!!
Miss those days....
