yup I 100% agree, you can't please everyone. when I changed my character I got a lot of criticism, but what really matters is that you're happy with what you're making cause that energy and love for the process will reflect in the content itself. it's usually just a loud minority anyway, most people don't mind as long as the videos are good. and honestly i've been loving all the characters lately but this latest one is looking great, in fact i'd say it's your best one yet. also all the little animations and sketches are very well done and fun to watch. you're very talented! keep up the good work!!
So true! I never set myself a fixed design, and let my hands set to the best convenient character outlook every time i draw, character consistency itself was the thing that pushed me away from the 9-5 animation jobs. Found that a bit boring, art should be free of all such limits!
Actually, Odd1'sout doesn't changes his art style. He mostly changes his characters living look. For example : Then he would draw his picture of him playing with knives, and now he make them really move.
Some artist can have a consistent style while some change their art style all the time. Like for example I have managed to stick to a consistent style for about a year but a year ago I changed style a lot because my art was developing a lot.
He also changed the eyes, made arms slightly shorter, and the mouths are a bit bigger. It's minor changes still, and tbh the first video and the latest look pretty similar in terms of character design.
Changing your style / updating the way you draw is healthy and builds you as an artist. Keep up the amazing work. Chip gets more and more unique and better with every change and iteration. You will if you haven't already find a design you are content with and until then do what you enjoy to do. Don't force it, let it happen naturally. Love the work!
That's because the movement on the current style is done by the computer. If the "puppet" is what I think it is, the advantage to using it is that you simply set up the keyframes and the program does the tweening, while using a hand-drawn image would mean you have to illustrate all the inbetweens yourself. _...I'm sure that probably sounded like Greek, didn't it?_ >﹏> Let's just say that the current style makes it easier for ChipFlake, because the computer does a lot of the hard part in ensuring that the animation is "smooth". Style change is something that’s good. When your style changes it means you’re being exposed to more things and are refining your work. Don’t worry over consistency.
I honestly see new art styles as refreshing to your channel, changing your art style frequently is what makes you stand out from all the other animators, not the art styles themselves

Yes, I have noticed the style changing every couple videos, and no, I never realized how many different styles you've experimented with, but I didn't mind the changes. I loved the more classic styles, but I also enjoyed the other ones. I wasn't aware people getting upset with you about it. All I see here is you’re constantly experimenting and honestly I think that’s pretty sick. Most animators seem to try the same thing with little change over time which is nice but experimenting can be cool too! Sometimes to find your true style you need to really feel around. ^^

I think I really needed to hear this :/ I let the critics get to me as well and I’ve wasted so, so much time trying to make something in a style I know I don’t have time for. Changing styles is perfectly normal. I have watched lots of artist friends change their art style over time. You will find that changing your style allows you to grow and experiment as an artist. It allows you to find new things that you enjoy to draw and find satisfying to finish. If people don't understand that, then that's their loss. I loved seeing you transform your style and character over time. Keep your head high and remember the majority of people are just happy to hear you talk. We all love you and your work, and hope your doing amazing.

Honestly I dont mind the different styles. It makes you unique but I get why people hate it. My favorite one is the traditional and neko style. I love it soo much. I'm subscribing because I respect your desire to improve, I know it may have stressed you out. I just can't help but respect someone like you. So while I hope you improve further, I also hope you do it in a more "natural" way.
I personally really don't mind how many times you changed your art style. The whole journey was actually interesting. It seemed to me like every new style was a mystery box that made each video unique. Like I get the whole meme/joke in your fanbase like "ohhh that chip and their changing art style", but in reality it was really a break from all other animation channels in the sense that you never know what you were going to make next. The point is, you don't have to be 100% unique from everyone else. I don't think I've seen any other smooth After Effects artists out there who put as much time and effort into their videos as much as you do. Heck, I've been using the puppet tool trick in my Animation class from your Patreon tutorial. My professor was blown away with how I knew how to work the puppet tool (it was literally the first day and pretty much my first time exploring After Effects. Anyway, sorry if a comment of this length seems over the top. Just wanted to put this out there. Keep making great stuff!

All I see here is you’re constantly experimenting and honestly I think that’s pretty sick. Most animators seem to try the same thing with little change over time which is nice but experimenting can be cool too! Sometimes to find your true style you need to really feel around. ^^
i was told by an art teacher "an artist's work is never done". In the case of Chipflake, this is true.
At this point with all the animation styles being used the only option left will be for Chipflake to speak through her actual cat, trust me it will happen
I think I really needed to hear this :/ I let the critics get to me as well and I’ve wasted so, so much time trying to make something in a style I know I don’t have time for. And you’re right, it stops being fun. I’m working on a style that still feels like an upgrade for me but doesn’t take 20 hours for each 10 seconds of video (yes really).

Changing styles is perfectly normal. I have watched lots of artist friends change their art style over time. You will find that changing your style allows you to grow and experiment as an artist. It allows you to find new things that you enjoy to draw and find satisfying to finish. If people don't understand that, then that's their loss. I loved seeing you transform your style and character over time. Keep your head high and remember the majority of people are just happy to hear you talk. We all love you and your work, and hope your doing amazing.

I absolutely love this current style and the constant motion, clean linework, and the hands. I have honestly watched your little hand transitions several times. and keeping the lip sync is awesome
Honestly I dont mind the different styles.
It makes you unique but I get why people hate it.
My favorite one is the traditional and neko style. I love it soo much. If I actually do make an animation channel, I'd use the same style (as inspiration.)

Don’t think of it of “I changed my look again,” but as an evolution in your character and your art skills. You can’t have the best work right off the bat, you gotta practice!
I think that they are all fine and I'm proud you are changing your art style. It's hard to find an art style that perfectly fits you. But everyone does change, I know it may be a worry to think about people hating that you can't decide. But just so you know, I support you. Keep it up !

I personally really don't mind how many times you changed your art style. The whole journey was actually
interesting. It seemed to me like every new style was a mystery box that made each video unique. Like I get the whole meme/joke
in your fanbase like "ohhh that chip and their changing art style", but in reality it was really a break from all other animation channels in the sense that
you never know what you were going to make next.
The point is, you don't have to be 100% unique from everyone else. I don't think I've seen any other smooth
After Effects artists out there who put as much time and effort into their videos as much as you do.
Heck, I've been using the puppet tool trick in my Animation class from your Patreon tutorial. My professor was blown away with how I knew how to work the
puppet tool (it was literally the first day and pretty much my first time exploring After Effects.

@@Chipflake To make matters BETTER, I love style 11. It LITERALLY looks like one could just walk up to it and hug it, then it would IMMEDIATELY love them. I always found it extremely cute and adorable. I find style 11 to be my favorite. If I EVER physically met it, I would let it hug me. A lot of other people liked it as well. Style 11 makes your character look like something that would be comfortable to be cuddled by! I love it, it is extremely cute!
