hey everyone, i apologise if some of the artwork/editing in this video feel a bit lacking compared to some of my other stuff. the truth is i've been having issues with my hands & wrists that have been getting worse as of late (it's looking like rheumatoid arthritis), that made it difficult to use a pen or mouse & keyboard at times. but, i just really wanted to get this video out on my birthday (16th), as it's very fitting due to being pretty important! Though, this will be my last "major" video of the year (i have one more small "bonus" video coming in a couple of weeks). as i haven't had a proper holiday since the pandemic started (you kinda forget when you're not allowed to travel lol), i will be taking december off to rest, visit family, and come up with some new video ideas (i already have some cool ones in mind 👀). i know youtube has some issues telling people about uploads so i'd recommend hitting the notification bell if you haven't already so that you will know when i've returned! in the meantime as i mentioned towards the end of the video, i've relaunched my merch store! i'm working with a new provider now and i'm really happy with the quality and some of the ideas they've helped me come up with. if you're interested it's still at www.chipflake.shop as usual, if you wanna get some stuff for christmas now's a good time! thanks for watching this video and supporting me in general. i was a bit anxious to post this but it's something that's really important to me that i've been wanting to talk about for a long time (not just to stop the annoying comments lol). i hope you can understand, but i'm probably not going to read the comments on this video too much for my personal mental health. even if your community is super wholesome and supportive, someone will always find a way to say something gross. so i apologise if any of those types of comments get through, obviously if i don't delete it it doesn't mean i support it. please just do me a favour and don't respond to those people, just report the comment and move on. 9 times out of 10 those people don't even believe what they're saying and are just trying to provoke a reaction out of you but yeah, thank you again for supporting me through almost 5 years of Chipflake videos, and 920k (!) subscribers, it genuinely means so much to me and i really hope i dont have something seriously wrong with my hands so i can continue making animationssssss :'D
*Hey Chip :D* I just wanted to tell you something 1- thank you for this video, its really inspiring to watch people be themselves, I absolutely loved it 2- ty for being such an awesome youtuber, you were the one that inspired me to make animations and my own youtube chanel :') Keep it up! :D
I really never cared, I just was like "Cat is Cat, is cutely drawn Cat". Happy to hear that you're prouder about who you are, I know from experience that being accepting of who you are can be difficult. Hope you have a wonderful day! Keep it up!
me at the beginning: people think he's a girl? me at the end: makes total sense. also quite relatable. i'm very proud of you opening up about all of this! much love!
Same! I've always just assumed he was a boy. I mean... as it turns out I am right but I didn't realize he was trans, but... apparently neither did he so... Anyway, congratulations on finding out the truth for yourself Chip. :D
I thought he was an enby, because his voice sounded so neutral all the time. And in the end I don't really focus on what he identifies as, I just enjoy the content he makes. Although I am happy for him for finding himself out. I was and still am in that stadium, but I would say I am a transmale as well, since I never felt like a "girl". If you know what I am trying to say. I'm sorry if not ^^"
Yeah, honestly. I mean, judging by small things in videos, if I ever had to use a pronoun, I would use masculine ones, but I never really thought about it.
Just for your openness, your feelings, your thoughts and your attitude towards us strangers, you really deserve mine and everyone elses respect. I've been watching your videos for almost 2 years now and have met a lot of very nice people who live a completely different lifestyle from me, such as Andro, Bappity or others, which I can't think of at the moment (sorry for that but still like you guys) and to be honest, im really happy ive met you and the other guys in Person at VidCon 2020. The chance to be a moderator in your livestreams means a lot to me and I wish you, to be so open to your courage alone, good luck and that you can live your life with your friends and family the way you want. Your friends and we as a community will stand behind you. P.S. Damn, your new deeper voice at the End sounds really cool. Wanna hear more from it :) and yeah, because this is a longer text i used google translator. English is not my first language, mkay? mkay!
@JAB00Z that's not funny. that is serious and should not be treated like this. life is tough for most, people suffer and go through things that they don't deserve to go through. again, that's not funny.
OMG- FINALLY SOMEONE WHO’S STORY IS SIMILAR TO MINE- i started showing clearer signs when i was 8 - especially back when i used to be a huge football fan. i remember hating certain phases such as “actress” being used on me and always preferred to be referred to as “actor” but i never actually knew why. i hated going to girls only clubs or football teams. it wasn’t until around the time when i was exploring my sexuality when i started asking myself, why i didn’t like the term lesbian even though i liked girls, or why don’t i like to wear dresses when i’m obligated to do so? at age 13, i leant about the term transgender, and it made so much sense to me. i’m turning 19 next month, and i still identify as male. nothing changed, and i didn’t have the same old “i knew i was trans since i was 2” story.
Bruh why is everyone arguing over this, he's clearly a cat. edit: to everyone arguing on why i said "he", imma be real with you, i've only watched the first minute of the video. and i don't really care what gender they are, cause i'll probably never interact with them in my life. though if that day comes, i'll either watch the video or directly ask them.
We have similar origin stories, except I was in that weird subgenre of UA-cam since young and realized around 17 just how shitty it was. It took empathy to change, I put myself in another’s shoes. Then I thought back on all the years...of supporting such people. I cried. I felt so horrible. Overwhelmed, guilty and detached. Learning empathy, being open minded and aware is what truly helped me. I can also relate to other things you mentioned❤
THANK YOU 🙏 for this video! It really helped me! Knowing there are others out there with similar life experience, makes me feel less alien! As someone who has only just started opening my selfe up for 1 1/2 years, I can really relate to your story! I clearly can remember my self: 5 Years old, in long grass, sobbing about that i want to be a girl, not a boy. But with the education system, bulling, social anxiety, fear of disappointing, suppressing my own feelings and years passing by, I just lived after what others wanted me to be, so I could be liked. If someone referred to me as female, online or in RL, I always was happy about it. But it took really long until I gave this a second thought! I identify as non-binary. But I don’t know if I am at the end of my journey. What I know is, that right now, I am happier than ever before! DANKE FÜR DAS VIDEO!!!! ;A; UND HERZLICHEN GLÜCKWUNSCH! Ich bin unendlich glücklich für dich! (Ich hab dich schon länger verfolgt und deine Animationen sind super süß und cool!!!!!!!)
I'm glad that you are happier than before^^ I myself found out I was a girl about a year ago. Half a year before that I had my first contact with other trans people after I made a Vtuber Avatar where I probably started to question myself, but I wasn't concious about it. The moment it hit me was when I got a few new IRL friends who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. My mental health is still not the best, but I'm way happier now. It's also nice to see that creators I enjoyed for years had similar experiences (hope this sentence doesn't get misunderstood) Good luck with the rest of your live^^ Falls es nichts ausmacht hätte ich eine kurze Frage.
I'm not even LGBTQ+ myself, but damn, the anxiety part hit close to home. When you're a people pleaser, it's really, REALLY hard to NOT be the person others expect you to be. I'm really happy that you were able to find yourself, Chip! Also, your voice is still adorable.
I just wanna say thank you. I know this is a year or so since this video came out, yet watching this video back then, and relating to your experience way too much, sent me down a spiral that very quickly started cracking my own egg... Leading me to wherever I am now hahahah. Its funny re-watching this video now, with my greater understanding. If you are reading this Chip, I of course can't speak for others, yet I can't be the only one who's life you have improved... (Whether on purpose or on accident) Thank you so much.
It's so weird hearing you talk just... normally Everyone puts on a bit of a voice in their videos and, man, it's honestly really soothing to listen to you I'm glad you decided to talk about this; there's no reason gender, identity, or hell, even furries should be as taboo as they are. Also this video really helped me with myself, since it's nice to hear the experiences of other folks in the community; it helps clear shit up and you realize you're not alone
Honestly I hate the concept of "furries" as an identity, like can't "furries" just be other people? Why do they need to be different? It just makes people associate certain people with certain stereotypes that are most likely completely inaccurate
@@pineapplius9756 furries arent a "type of people", just humans with harmless interests in common, like any part of society ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but if you prefer mean groups, its your choice
"I had 'any pronouns' in my bio not because I liked all of these pronouns equally, but so that other people wouldn't have to worry about using the wrong ones." WELP. This quote hit me like a bus, I will be processing this for the next while haha Thank you so much for this video, rock on dude
SAME! I've been telling people to use any and all but my pronouns actually change (I'm genderfluid) but I've told people because it could be annoying to ask to just use any and all. It's ended up that I only ever have my agab's pronouns used even when NB or my none agab pronouns. That quote has made me think about what I want to do and not what I think others want to use. I don't know what that is yet but it is something I think is long overdue for thinking about.
this is my first video of yours that I have watched and I just wanted to say how cool it is to know you have been through this kind kind of thing too (I'm a transwoman myself who went through something VERY similar) and I will definitely be subscribing and supporting your channel, because you are a very cool dude
Chipflake: "Misinformation about people is spread too much in my coments" Me: "Chipflake's ears aren't triangle shaped, they are accually three-sided squares that just spin really slowly."
"to put it straight, I am a boy" how this has been a question for so long when he/him has literally been in his channel description for ages is beyond me people in the reply's you get the point ok. when did I say pronoun = gender
I haven’t really heard anyone talk about how anxiety affects how open people are with their identities and hearing you talk about it resonates with me SO hard. Thanks for putting yourself out there; I know it’s hard and it means a lot.
Ignore the person above me, they're deep in the closet, have mommy and daddy issues, are probably bullied a lot, and don't know what to do with their pent-up emotions. (if they reply to this then you know I'm right about this comment lol)
This video changed my day and probably my life. I'm passing through some problems with sexuality and gender identity. I already talked to my parents because I couldn't hold it anymore. They said that "I'm too young". My dad explained the reason behind that, and as I expected he said "I'm too young because I do not have a lot of experience in my life" and I really understand it... but it's a lot to hold until my 16 years. This video could make me feel like someone understands me and know that people that I do not even know went through it or is going through it. I tried talking multiple times what I feel about me and my gender but I kept it for so much time that I do not even know who I am anymore. if you are passing through the same thing as me, I want you to stay strong and do not change because of what others say. (and there is bullying in schools because of that even today)
Hey, I dont know if your going to see this but do know that going through puberty is really confusing for everyone. Especially nowadays where questioning your gender and sexuality is sort of expected too, or atleast really visible online. Be yourself, do stuff, date different people and learn who you are, what you like and what you don't. Thats a lot more imporant than worying how to catogorise yourself. There is already so much change and insecurity there, and trying to make sense of it is logical. But the more you dive in to sexuality and gender the more you will question yourself. Because during that lifestage your trying to get a sense of self and the lhbt space gives those doubts of self a possible direction. That doesnt nessairaly mean it will fit you in a couple of years. I wish you the best of luck with your dificulties, coming from someone who had problems back then too.

Happy birthday, Chip! Thank you so much for sharing your story. You’re an amazing person and it’s truly an honor to have been able to follow your story and to know you. Wishing you all the best🧡🧡
idk if i’m misinterpreting this but this isn’t what you should get out of people pleasing tendencies, i think they’re a nice person but people pleasing isn’t about being overly nice more than it is a trauma or anxiety response,, i guess what i’m getting at is it’s not a good thing like alot of ppl think it is and a person suffering w it like myself are typically taken advantage of bc of it
yeah- something strange I noticed though at the end of the video chip showed his subscriber count, but, the actual, current count, is lower than in the video, I hope that isn't because chip is getting hate for this video or something :((
The way you described anxiety is real accurate, something that I struggle to put into words. Extremely proud of ya to have the courage to put this out on the internet, Chip- You go dude
In the last clip compared to the penultimate clip, your voice already sounded deeper, I'm happy that you accept yourself and I hope your transition is as smooth as butter :')
This is why I love your channel Chipflake, I’ve been a fan ever since the “why I got google banned in my school” video and it’s like everytime I watch a new video from you that it gets more and more wholesome and amazing ❤️ Also I will respect your pronouns since I used to just say “Chip did this” since I was very very very confused on your gender for awhile now

I relate to a lot of this, but- "I measured my worth based on my usefulness to others." ...well shit that hit me hard. Had topause the video and sit there in silence for a few minutes. Gonna be processing that for a while still, I think. Ultimately. I fully support you and who you are.
The best answer to "Are you a boy or a girl?" is: "I live in a low income housing environment that goes by the government name of 'Section 8.' I've always enjoyed how your voice, and the character of chipflake, could be interpreted as male or female. Thank you for addressing and opening up about it, and congratulations on nearly hitting 1M subs!
As someone who's enjoyed your content for quite a while, I am really happy that you had the courage to upload this video and that you found your own way. Keep up the great work! (And please don't let yourself be put down by people who try to make you feel bad for your decisions or other things that are related to these decisions. @ThyMaskedPerson it definitely is Only the fursonatar, master of all four sub-fur groups could stop them. Then, when the world needed them the most... they vanished...
This video was my first introduction to the idea of trans people. It led me to do some more research and find so many amazing creators. It has also made me discover so many things about myself, so thank you chip for being the beginning of my journey into my identity. This made me feel so much more comfortable with exploring myself and relating to many of the descriptions of trans experiences. So this is one of my favorite videos on this platform.
I can now officially say welcome to the boys. It's a sphere of utter senseless chaos, pure anarchy. I personally love it. I've had so many of those "the boys" moments I can die happy. It makes me so happy to know you figured out who you are and that you are sure of it and are happy with it. Even better that we're on the same team (this is a joke I don't think of gender identity as teams just like to have some fun).
This hits home for me despite being cis because of the whole "Anti-SJW" thing. All it takes to understand people is to stop dominating the conversation and let the other person speak their peace. It's sad when you see people who have fallen down that rabbit hole and seem unsavable, but it's really never too late to change someone's views.

Well, to be honest, i don't care about your sexuality or identity, i just remember Chipflake as an animator that made funny videos about art and cats. As long as you're not secretely doing illegal stuff like exploiting children or something, it's all good ! :D

So THAT’S why your voice dropped more every video. Interesting. No but for real I’m watching this video just after I came out to my mother (she was fairly accepting) and I needed to hear the story of an older trans guy! So Chip, thank you, I always thought you were highly relatable and I think I’m starting to understand why! Anyway I hope HRT is going well for you man :) Now lemme just mark you down on my list of queer UA-camrs to never skip upcoming videos of
I hope that explains why in a way that isn’t mean. Ive never experienced it, and understand how they feel that way, but I have trouble understanding how people really think they are something that isn’t scientific. I don’t know, maybe I’m just to into science and stuff lol.
So... i just kind of stumbled back into this universe, and it's... rather nice to find this out, great to hear this of you man, honestly i've never really thought of you as anything but a man, bar a moment in the past where i incorrectly assumed you were a trans girl, which led to me getting told about the wide spectrum of gender and sexuality in a rather rude tone and going "this is a big pot of regretti spaghetti, i am burning this ship and never looking back", which i have since learned a lot about gender and sexuality from my time online eince then, so it's good to know the facts after all of these years, and knowing i can look back at that without as much cringe as i have had thinking about it since then (though i probably still will, that's brains for you), anyway: i support you all the way in this, i know i'm a few years late, but that shouldn't matter, have a great day man, you are awesome!
You started hormones that recently?! You must've really been putting in the effort with training then. it sounds great. i'd figured you had started hrt maybe a year and a half ago with how your voice had been getting deeper over that time period. Figured you were trans though, being so myself i just kinda, knew. Also, man, the bit about not being able to distinguish between attraction and gender envy hit me hard, that's something i struggle(d) with a lot.
I find it rly interesting as an asexual nonbinary person who looks very aesthetically female and pretty. I work in healthcare and always felt that my nonbinary identity shouldn't make people feel uncomfortable. So I always dressed generically female and smart. Especially for the elderly boomers. If they come to talk about their health, they shouldn't be challenged or made uncomfortable by my appearance. But this has backfired when working for trans people, who have often assumed I don't 'get it' and frequently made inappropriate comments about my appearance in a sexual context. It's distressing how people readily disregard the care provider and treat us like we aren't people.
The fact that I just started using he/him after using they/them for so long and dealing with everything you explained to a tee is baffling. Keep being amazing ✨
If I had a nickel for every cat-related transgender UA-cam animator who has changed their art style a lot I'd have two nickels, which is not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice. (Congratulations on coming out by the way!)
Just found your channel today and fell in love with the art & style. This was such a wholesome video. With some stuff I can relate really well although I am not LGBTQ (well, I'd like to see me as an ally). Congratulations on finding your way and I really hope you get appreciated. If you ask me, you absolutely deserve it. I am very grateful to have you in Germany and hope you are treated well by this country. Thanks to your partner for luring you here and all the best for your future :D
I really like the fact the people are sharing stories here and supporting everyone :) Watched the entire video, but it's not something I'm thinking, but still kinda relatable. Maybe this video will be helpful in the future.
Boy, girl, doesn't matter. As long as you are happy with yourself and who you are then thats all that matters ^^ But I'm proud of ya Chip for coming out and talking about a subject like this.
are you a gay or are you a grill? what's it to you, does it provide such thrill? why would you put someone through such a mill, why would you care if they're gay or a grill? why, with a language as varied as English, why would you care, with whom who is mingling? nobody cares, so why should you? just do what is right, what you feel is true!
In school ppl still call others gay trying to make them feel horrible. People also are calling others ‘autistic’ trying to make them feel bad. Im autistic and it kinda feels bad to be called autistic in a mean way. No one thinks I’m autistic though because im not that high on the scale. So I can imagine what it’s like for actual gay people to be called gay as an insult. As well as people who are not gay being called gay as an insult. It doesn’t happen that much based on what I’ve seen but it absolutely happens.
I hate the words used to convey the (perceived) message. I'll attempt to fix it: "It hasn't really mattered to me who chip is other than cat. Cat cat cat. And bandana. Red bandana cat cat cat cat cat. Unless chip is a murderer. I don't like murder, it's kinda cringe, ngl."
(Heads up: *There are indeed homophobes and transphobes in the replies* ) In summary for those who haven't watched or need a recap: Chipflake is - A transman (from female to male) - Bisexual (attraction to the opposite AND same gender) - a person with anxiety (or formerly had anxiety) - going through hormone therapy (expect voice changes) Personal note: I can HEAVILY relate to the LGBTQ part of your story, Chip. I live in Hungary Aka *_The Homophobic Capital of Europe_* Being any part of the LGBTQ Community is a crime here, although being an unwritten one So everyone who is like me, part of the LGBTQ, is just basically trying to survive and not get found out by the fascist government
Bisexual isn’t just limited to two genders, plus it doesn’t just have to be the same gender and opposite. A man can like women and enbies and that would make them bisexual
The comment is a person from Hungary the first reply is from Slovenia and I'm from croatia The reason I'm saying this Beacuse they're close countries... Just bored...
i just rediscovered this channel, and let me say. This video made me so unbelievably happy to see a creator whom i really liked (and still do) come out as trans. I'm happy you've finally found out who you really are.
I'm kind of surprised that you've only started HRT recently considering that your voice has been deepening and developing very nicely for years. I always just assumed you'd been on HRT the whole time or that you'd been doing vocal training. Regardless, I'm happy for you though! As another transmasc, figuring these things out has always been difficult so I'm glad that you're in a place where you're happier than before
I'm guessing they were voice training before starting testosterone. You can gradually deepen your voice or make Make it higher. Trans fems can't. Relly on hrt for their voice to become higher so they have to train it.
“Are you a boy or girl?” It doesn’t matter! As long as you are happy with themselves, I’m happy. Chip, keep being yourself. You are an amazing person. I’m glad you’re discovering yourself and I wish you the best. You go bro!
It really shows how much humanity needs to improve and accept others when it's a long and difficult process just to come out as who you want to be. While I may have mentioned it previously, I actually found the channel from fan art I found which included several others who I was already familiar with, figured I'd sample your videos, and have been subscribed since.

This is such an important video and so many people need to hear the experience of a trans person. I think many just don't understand or can't wrap their head around this concept so education is very important. I love your videos and your voice so keep making that great content. Massive respect for opening up and telling this story.
well a lot of trans girl to boy people take testosterone artificially soo it's possibly chip did too and that quote of people not believing he was a guy because his voice was high pitch was before he possibly took testosterone (keep in mind this is just a theory that i came up while watching the video and don't take it as a fact)

thanks for watching this video and supporting me in general. i was a bit anxious to post this but it's something that's really important to me that i've been wanting to talk about for a long time (not just to stop the annoying comments lol). i hope you can understand, but i'm probably not going to read the comments on this video too much for my personal mental health. even if your community is super wholesome and supportive, someone will always find a way to say something gross. so i apologise if any of those types of comments get through, obviously if i don't delete it it doesn't mean i support it. please just do me a favour and don't respond to those people, just report the comment and move on. 9 times out of 10 those people don't even believe what they're saying and are just trying to provoke a reaction out of you
but yeah, thank you again for supporting me through almost 5 years of Chipflake videos, and 920k (!) subscribers, it genuinely means so much to me and i really hope i dont have something seriously wrong with my hands so i can continue making animationssssss :'D

OMG- FINALLY SOMEONE WHO’S STORY IS SIMILAR TO MINE-
i started showing clearer signs when i was 8 - especially back when i used to be a huge football fan. i remember hating certain phases such as “actress” being used on me and always preferred to be referred to as “actor” but i never actually knew why. i hated going to girls only clubs or football teams. it wasn’t until around the time when i was exploring my sexuality when i started asking myself, why i didn’t like the term lesbian even though i liked girls, or why don’t i like to wear dresses when i’m obligated to do so? at age 13, i leant about the term transgender, and it made so much sense to me. i’m turning 19 next month, and i still identify as male. nothing changed, and i didn’t have the same old “i knew i was trans since i was 2” story.

DANKE FÜR DAS VIDEO!!!! ;A;
UND HERZLICHEN GLÜCKWUNSCH! Ich bin unendlich glücklich für dich!
(Ich hab dich schon länger verfolgt und deine Animationen sind super süß und cool!!!!!!!)
I'm glad that you are happier than before^^
I myself found out I was a girl about a year ago.
It's also nice to see that creators I enjoyed for years had similar experiences (hope this sentence doesn't get misunderstood)
Good luck with the rest of your live^^

This video changed my day and probably my life. I'm passing through some problems with sexuality and gender identity. I already talked to my parents because I couldn't hold it anymore. They said that "I'm too young". My dad explained the reason behind that, and as I expected he said "I'm too young because I do not have a lot of experience in my life" and I really understand it... but it's a lot to hold until my 16 years. This video could make me feel like someone understands me and know that people that I do not even know went through it or is going through it. I tried talking multiple times what I feel about me and my gender but I kept it for so much time that I do not even know who I am anymore.

So... i just kind of stumbled back into this universe, and it's... rather nice to find this out, great to hear this of you man, honestly i've never really thought of you as anything but a man, bar a moment in the past where i incorrectly assumed you were a trans girl, which led to me getting told about the wide spectrum of gender and sexuality in a rather rude tone and going "this is a big pot of regretti spaghetti, i am burning this ship and never looking back", which i have since learned a lot about gender and sexuality from my time online eince then, so it's good to know the facts after all of these years, and knowing i can look back at that without as much cringe as i have had thinking about it since then (though i probably still will, that's brains for you), anyway: i support you all the way in this, i know i'm a few years late, but that shouldn't matter, have a great day man, you are awesome!
I was watching this video now I'm quite a bit less confused
I thought it said "you started Homophobes?" And I had to look at it 4 times before laughing and realizing it was Hormones

Boy, girl, doesn't matter. As long as you are happy with yourself and who you are then thats all that matters ^^
But I'm proud of ya Chip for coming out and talking about a subject like this.
are you a gay or are you a grill?
what's it to you, does it provide such thrill?
why would you put someone through such a mill,
why would you care if they're gay or a grill?
why, with a language as varied as English,
why would you care, with whom who is mingling?
nobody cares, so why should you?
just do what is right, what you feel is true!

- A transman (from female to male)
- Bisexual (attraction to the opposite AND same gender)
- a person with anxiety (or formerly had anxiety)
- going through hormone therapy (expect voice changes)

Being any part of the LGBTQ Community is a crime here, although being an unwritten one
So everyone who is like me, part of the LGBTQ, is just basically trying to survive and not get found out by the fascist government

Bisexual isn’t just limited to two genders, plus it doesn’t just have to be the same gender and opposite. A man can like women and enbies and that would make them bisexual
