I wish reviewers would read the manual before reviewing their cars. The MG4 (which I ordered as soon as I'd returned from the test drive!) has steering wheel-mounted climate controls (once you've one-time programmed the shortcut button on the wheel spoke). Then you simply adjust the heating (temperature up/down, fan up/down) without taking your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road. Same with the sound system controls (on the other spoke). So one of the main criticisms of the MG in this piece was in fact erroneous.

I'd already bought my MG4 (within the last week) before I saw this review, but I had seen others before I purchased. This review fully endorses the reason for buying the MG - the IG3 doesn't justify the more expensive price tag at all. The MG4 is great to drive - yes it has it's quirks, butt interiror-wise it's a huge improvement on previous MGs. You can turn the noise down on the indicators, and there are smart buttons with stars on you can add climate control to them for easy use. I think you should research your cars better
VW have never recovered from Dieselgate . The korean products are better and now the Chinese.
trading on reputation alone has found them out.
The voice control is better on my MG than on my $150k Audi and so is most of the other pilot gear…GPS,AC controls on steering wheel, lane assist etc
Volkswagen needs to package it's offerings better and more affordably
Oh, if only you'd taken a little time to learn the controls before reviewing - all that talk of unavailable air conditioning is nonsense. There's a configurable button on the steering wheel and then the air conditioning can be controlled from the steering wheel using the joystick, I've never seen a better solution. You can also access the air conditioning using the button under the display. So everything in the review is wrong.
VW is doing a promotion in China and selling ID.3 at starting price of £15k. I will buy one if I can buy one at that price in the UK. Why are EVs so damn expensive in this country??
music too loud
Funnliy enough the videos Iv'e seen of mg4 charging its actually much faster than 35 minutes to 80%! I just hope its really true.
Afternoon 🙂
I like all the iD platform VW have
What i don't like in the MG4 is the smartphone type screen in front of the driver it's cheap to look at and why all Cars ev Cars go that stupid way, but i like the outside design.
cars are just utility, it depreciates in value over time. don't bother with all the fancy stuff, you won't turn those on each drive. Even a panoramic roof is just useless
Mg4 is best value for money here
You have the option to set up climate control as a shortcut.
Mg will succeed in Europe only because of the price, in a few years it will be like Octavia, 7 years warranty will help solve some dilemmas..
Other difference: doesnt the MG4 have a frunk?
No, had a look yesterday. Also doesn't have grab handles above doors which my wife relies on to help with getting out the car.
You say the climate control bad. Tell me how it feel on Model 3. I basically throwing the towel and have the system take care of it.
It really doesn't, except the price.
MG4 beats EVERYTHING value wise, the ALDI of cars!
I think the price is the only reason you'd buy the MG. And if you buy one as a family car, your kids are gonna hate you for sticking them in the back - it's got back-of-a-panel van levels of gloomy going on!
Kids are glued to their screens anyway so the darkness will probably suit them 😉
@@InBodWeTrust good point! It's been a while since I was a kid. A good portion of my childhood was spent in the back of a twin-sunroof Renault Espace. And without a screen! I'm clearly very out of touch with what it means to be a kid these days 😂
If your kids hate you because you've asked them to sit in the back of a brand-new hatchback then I think you have to worry about how good of a parent you are to create such deplorable creatures.
@@InBodWeTrust Poor little bastards
First of all, the ID3 exterior...I just dont understand the design language there...
Still no wireless carplay.. am I only one who see this as must have?
Absolutely easy to solve...Just buy a box for a few crowns and you can have wireless.
@@siasek if its so easy why dont they integrate it into their system.. I dont wanna have a dongle hanging around and stealing a USB port.
Since it doesn't have a wireless Android car, nor does the much more expensive Kia/Hyundai (EV6/Ionic5), I think it's more of a licensing fee issue. But with the MG4, you won't get anything wrong - you add the box perfectly from the bottom to the center console and there's nothing wrong anywhere. You don't need USB if you have a wireless charger on top. At least I wouldn't need one.
STOP GIVING OUT WLTP RANGE!!! It totally puts people straight back into an ICE car after they realise it’s nowhere near what’s promised!!!!
Not buying a chinese car, not after what they've done to the world!
@Retired Bore it starts with a C.
Then you shouldn't buy German and Japanese cars, they caused millions of dead in World War I and World War II.
VW is always the same.
Mg4 is The winner.
Klimat control can be adjust from steering wheel
The MG looks better
The heater and the voice controls are terrible and dangerous I would suggest.
I would suggest you're talking bollocks!
Bbc radio 6. 🤔
The more people buying EV’s the better but I’m not an MG4 fan the front looks great but that’s about it. The id3 has more prestige and once they get on top of their supply chain problems will offer a cheaper model
New normal, get used too it.
Sounds like badge snobbery to me. How can you compete with prise and warranty
I'm not sure I'd agree the id3 has more prestige, I'd personally rank it lowest of the C segment EV hatchbacks.
ID.3 looks like a Toyota ICE car, it doesn't look like an EV.
@@biggwong6912 Who cares?
M.G FOREVER ! . X . 💕
Vw's infotainment UI is completely off putting. Immediately no sale there. Even the Golf mk 8 has idiotic infotainment system that is just plain dangerous
MG4 from far
