Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, to me it's one of the best looking EV's around, looks sporty and looks like it's moving even when parked, far better than 90% of those SUV's that look like a brick with four wheels, it represents an entry to EV's for people without a bottomless pocket !

Perhaps *the* most notable point about the MG4, is that it undercuts the basic petrol Astra, Focus and Golf.....thus providing a relatively easy way into EV ownership...

I like the way it looks. Maybe that's just because every other EV is a big ugly SUV. And I like that the MG4 comes in that bright blue and the cool orange and not just various shades of silver and grey like all the other cars it seems. I mean, it's no Lotus Elise or Porche 911, but they've gone all ugly SUV anyway. It's smart and sporty. I like it!

Owned my MG4 for 6 months now. Infotainment system is a little sluggish at times, but isn’t the maze you think. Two programmable shortcut buttons on steering wheel….I set them to climate control and camera. Agreed with many things you have said here. Not difficult to switch off lane assist which I do on the narrower country roads. I’d have mentioned the option to turn on Traffic Jam Assist which is brilliant.

Enjoyed watching your video again….have owned my MG4 for just under a year now, so it’s interesting to review your comments in this light.
Pretty much agree with a great deal, although personally, for me, I like the look of the car very much. I love the orange colour, but it’s a bit 'marmite', some love it, others hate it! There are two programmable buttons on the steaming wheel….mine are set to activate the camera and temperature controls. For me, lane management is ok on most roads except narrow ones where I turn the system off. Agree that the infotainment screen is slow…!,,,
I’d also mention that MG dealerships are not renowned for their customer support….I’ve just arranged my 1st service with a different dealer to the one I bought the car from as the support was so poor from them. Someone told me that MG has the worst rating for customer support in the UK….I'd have to check that out. Having said that, I haven’t had any mechanical issues with the car. Touch-up paint is not available from MG, so stone chips have to be dealt with by a third party paint shop.
Saved a bucket load on fuel cost….cheap to charge with home charger and Octopus Intelligent Go tariff…..and I try to use the public Tesla chargers on long trips. If none are convenient en route then I try to find one that is Electroverse friendly.

I've heard a lot of people complain about the driver assistance on the MG's. I've driven the MG5 and never had problems with it. quite the opposite, went a lot better than I expected. the drive had a lot of corners and traffic. the only time it didn't work "properly" was on the really sharp corners. other than that, I had it on the whole drive and braked and turned as it should. yes, sometimes its a bit "harsh" on the steering, but never to the point where I was scared or uncomfortable with it.

I have an MG ZS EV Mk1 (2020) and the lane assist if put on highest setting is reckoned very good and I find it excellent. However, the owners of the later model (the one without the grill) reckon the lane assist on the later model is pretty poor. I can tell you how EV handles hills and mountains. Electric motor overheating, battery overheating and your mileage will disappear in a few minutes literally. And EV without a heater is just a bad joke. But I can explain you why. Because here where I live in a hot country with non-stop working air-conditioner mileage of any EV is not over 200km with fully charged battery driving straight with constant speed. Same situation will be with working heater in cold countries - not over 150-200km.

I agree with you the driving assistance systems are too sensitive. (Found this with a relative's Tesla too) It's also annoying that many settings need to be reset every time you use the car. A big plus is the charging speed - which was a big factor in my purchase - better than a Kia eNiro for example. Pricing is also very competitive and the 7 year warranty is re-assuring.

The MG 4 does have some good features like you pointed out especially the ability to heat the battery, why all manufacturers don't do this is beyond me. Also heat pumps should be standard in EV vehicles if they increase the range. Its like BMW charging you for heated seats on a monthly basis. More cold weather tests please as even here in the UK our EV's suffered with the cold weather recently. It is a pity manufacturers don't give range figures for spring / summer and autumn / winter but I guess people wouldn't buy the EV. Hoovies garage did a really interesting video on the F150 EV lightning range in cold weather.

Also, the batteries are NCM and thus it is recommended that charge is either 80 or 90% maximum and discharge is not less than 5%, further reducing range. Thus max range of 211 Km in those conditions.
