I don't know if this video compilation was around back then since videos of music wasn't really a thing back then. Not even on MTV. But ironically since they don't even play much music on MTV anymore, it was the excitement over MTV that created such a frenzy over music videos and brought about more and more bands making professionally made music videos. Snd artist, if they wanted to be noticed, all started producing good quality music videos. But the downside to that was that the attention became more focused on the appearances of the band members and fancy choreographed dance routines and gymnastics from the members of the bands, especially the lead singers. It became more about the optics than the music or real talent of the singers or musicians. But Steve, while not performing any wild aeronautical moves, flying suspended over the crowds or being upstaged by the magnitudes of scantily clad dancers now used in just about any big artists videos, stayed true to the tenants of true rock and roll singers and song writers. He moved around with his own kind of natural grace while performing each song with the same exact gifted range and natural vocal talent which made his live performances always sound the exact same as he did in a studio cut record if not even better. And he didn't have those perfect vocals and timing some or even most of the time but just about every single time he performed. No synthesizer, costumes, choreographed dance moves, back up dancers, Lazer light shows, pyrotechnics or lip syncing for Steve. Just pure raw talent and exceptionally gifted ability to touch the souls of every single concert goer back then and every one of us watching him almost 50 years later.
@@t.lmoran1657but it won't be Steve as lead singer and I'm not forking over a ton of money to watch second string understudy who comes close but can't quite get there and has to break up those soul stirring runs to take a breath.

who had this LP Live on cassette back in the day. It was called "Captured". I wore it out in a Pioneer cassette deck, 698 rear speakers in a 1969 Chevelle SS.

Steve was so energetic & intense back then, he gave it all every show, and I can understand how the constant touring eventually burned him out and he had to stop. Thank God for Arnel Pineda to keep Journey going strong for all the years since.
He (Steve) must have been EXHAUSTED by the end. I’m tired just watching. He put EVERYTHING into his concerts. I know he knew it was being recorded, but somehow I don’t think it would’ve mattered to him. I’d bet all of his performances were just as enthusiastic. Oh and thanks for posting this. I was only 9 in 1981, too young. Although I give them credit also that their lyrics didn’t have to be perverted or explicit to sell, they were just GOOD. “The strength of the family- mother, father, sister, brother”, Steve said. You’d NEVER hear that today. God bless them. And His VOICE!
I agree 100%. I heard for myself that Steve Smith is an amazing drummer, but seeing the physicality of it blew my mind. I think he's hugely underrated. I've been a fan since the 70s. They really had everything until Steve Perry got worn down. He's 1 of a kind. 🧡
Saw this exact show on the ESCAPE tour in Chicago (my first show ever!I was 11) and Steve and the boys gave the exact same performance. 10/10ths every show, every night. Incredible.
Wow ❤❤❤ Amazing performance by SP and the band. Mother Father performance is off the charts. There are not enough words to describe this live performance. I want to go back to the 80's just on this day only for this concert. I was little young a the time to have gone. We're lucky that they recorded this. Thank you for posting.
What a masterpiece! Steve Perry running around all over the stage delivering stunning vocals while Neal, Jonathan, Steve Smith, & Ross tearing it up on their instruments. Love the Neal & Steve image overlay at the end - perfect.

Wow. This tour was the first rock show I ever went to, I was 11. Well maybe it was Van Halen's DIVER DOWN tour...can't remember. Anyway, it's amazing how live shows before the era of phone cameras, when the only reason you went to a show was to EXPERIENCE it live, not to watch through your phone and record it to SHOW other people you were there, are so much more memorable. I remember this show, and the way it made me feel, exactly as I do watching it now, 43 (woah...how the f*** did that happen?) years later. I remember all the shows I saw as a kid in middle and high school and then college in the 80's and early 90's (and there were a LOT) and it was a great time to be a kid going to concerts, great music, great energy, life was about having fun. But I'm 100% sure the memories are more powerful because we were there to experience something once in a lifetime, live, with our own eyes and ears, for ourselves and everyone else in the arena. Something unique, special, and all we were taking away with us were our memories. I'm sad for people who never got to know that experience, and how different it was.
I watch this video daily. I just can't get enough of Steve Perry. I so wish the camera was always on Steve. I'm not interested in the other guys. Their voice, hair and looks come nowhere close to Steve!! I know they're an essential part of the band, but IMO Steve WAS JOURNEY!! jmo
Kim, I am 62 and pretty much saw EVERY tour live. It truly was MAGICAL. I was high NATURALLY for at least a few days after a show, they were so energizing and lifting, just like here 😉
I saw them in Honolulu during this tour in 1981. Two nights in a row they rocked the packed house. I still remember the magic that was Steve Perry like it was yesterday.
@@chaseharlann unfortunately no , I believe they didn’t allow flash photography . I wish I did though, it was epic. Thanks for posting that entire concert, Journey at the top of their game.
❤ What a fantastic live performance. What a show. What a band, what musicianship. Journey at its best. This was another time when it was great to see bands live. ❤
When you look at the musical talent created by our generation, it will never be matched. Journey, Prince, Aerosmith, Celine Dion, just to name four but there are many more that are worthy of being named. Almost all of them started in a high school gymnasium and slowly work their way through the system until they emerged at the top. It was a long tough road for all of them. Not only were they the greatest musicians in the world, but their heart never let them quit. They never gave up on their dream.
Of course we have seen clips from this concert but I have never seen full concert. Wow!!Steve Perry and the band, so much talent. Those high octaves SP reached with so much passion!! and such ease live and no auto tune or backing tracks, kids today need to take notes!! No lip sync crap. Wish I could have seen them in the 80's before Steve left.
I'm watching in 2024. Steve Perry rules then and now
Jip, and ol' Smithie on the drums. It is only when you see him hammering away that you come to appreciate the man's talent.

Just stumbled upon this:::: it's Amazing how he sang 'Lights' soooo calmly after running back forth on stage and being out of breath!
One concert I wish I visited , as I always loved Journey....
Sound is so clear, now realize what an awesome drummer Steve Smith was.
I was watching him and I was thinking he really doesn't get the plaudits he deserves possibly because Schon and Perry were so incredible.
who had this LP Live on cassette back in the day. It was called "Captured". I wore it out in a Pioneer cassette deck, 698 rear speakers in a 1969 Chevelle SS.
Timeless beautiful energy and strength - a gift to us all. So grateful. ❤
Now that’s a concert what singing and all around great musicians hard to find that theses days
Such historical footage- hints at what it was like in those early 80s times.
i spent 4 hours watching this leyend man, he sings too good. Nice job For Steve Perry
Such greatness! This was the best live vocal performance I ever heard!
Wow, this concert is "blowing my mind!" Wish I could go back in time and experience it live! And the video captures everything! Love watching Journey"s incredible performances. Thanks for posting.
FACTS.
Open arms is a masterpiece, beautifully performed. Steve's high notes are magical.
Steve was so energetic & intense back then, he gave it all every show, and I can understand how the constant touring eventually burned him out and he had to stop. Thank God for Arnel Pineda to keep Journey going strong for all the years since.
Did they ever make new music with Arnel?
@@janicehastings1281 Ya, there's been some new albums with some great new tracks
I was 7, playing with Barbies lol . 💙 🎸🎤
Saw this exact show on the ESCAPE tour in Chicago (my first show ever!I was 11) and Steve and the boys gave the exact same performance. 10/10ths every show, every night. Incredible.
una de las mejores voces de los 80s. Cero autoTune. Artista de verdad, no como hoy en dia, que cualquiera canta.
Minuto 47:50 EPICOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A tehedseged felulmulja az elvarasokat ❤❤❤❤❤ 5:55
Amazing times. Steve's voice is perfection.
Amazing quality.

@@chaseharlann At least the one I was interested in when you uploaded this fantastic concert: the piano solo between _Mother, Father,_ and _Who's Crying Now._ I didn't check the others before starting my own chaptering. But it's mainly to enable chapters to be displayed directly in the progress bar of the video and not just in the description, as is currently the case (at least on my device).

This is so tasty!! I was lucky enough to see Journey with Steve Perry and see him perform solo! Amazing music from amazing musicians!! Cheers!!🎸
Went to 3 of the 6 nights at the forum! Phenomenal, sounded exactly like this show! I was 18 years old! Seems like it was yesterday! What a time to be alive and healthy!!!
When I heard the Double live album, Captured, I was blown away!!!!

❤️💯🙏👍🏻
Listen to Steve at the 24 minute mark, he sounds like an orchestra and makes it look easy🎉🎉🎉
If it was this tour, they played 4 nights at the Forum, not 6.
2024 and i think its one of the best concerts ever ❤💯🔥 great singer band and setlist
LEGENDS
Thanks for posting the full concert! :D
This is fantastic!! Most of the time when someone says Remastered it might be a little better but this is definitely the best I've seen of this show.
I know they're an essential part of the band, but IMO Steve WAS JOURNEY!! jmo
Wow this is the good live video of Journey of Steve Perry.... I like it
They performed with such passion and talent!! Wish l could have seen them in concert!!
Kim, I am 62 and pretty much saw EVERY tour live. It truly was MAGICAL. I was high NATURALLY for at least a few days after a show, they were so energizing and lifting, just like here 😉
Love this! Still remember seeing Journey live. This was an unbelievable concert!
I saw them in Honolulu during this tour in 1981. Two nights in a row they rocked the packed house. I still remember the magic that was Steve Perry like it was yesterday.
@@lynneburrell676 did you or anyone photograph or tape that show?
@@chaseharlann unfortunately no , I believe they didn’t allow flash photography . I wish I did though, it was epic. Thanks for posting that entire concert, Journey at the top of their game.
I was there 😊
Effortless. Pure. No one can touch him.
Love my Journey always ❤️ Thank you for a Great concert!!!!!❤
Their original bass man was no joke, he had great tone and good parts.
Pure talent. What a band. So happy it’s recorded for the ages. Perry’s voice was stunning.
❤ What a fantastic live performance. What a show. What a band, what musicianship. Journey at its best. This was another time when it was great to see bands live. ❤
Real music. Blessed to have seen it back then
When you look at the musical talent created by our generation, it will never be matched.
I am still hopeful to marry this manafter all these years❤❤❤❤😂
Yes I’m m watching I love ,watch old music if u u dont want it . Dont listen or watch ,I’m m thankfull for one who posted it ,thanks 😂😂😂
Love 🤩
