For all this movie's flaws, I like rewatching this scene because it's one of the few times we see a full T-800 model being smart and not just stomping towards its target. It punched the doors to throw Kyle down, it made sure to target the gun to stop him from getting it. And it was throwing punches and such to get him.
If he was smarter he wouldve reached for the gun himself and shot Kyle with it
@@user-up3dd1vw6b No time, easier to stop Kyle from getting it.
Agreed if they actually TRY and make a good new terminator movie, they need to make the terminators behave this way bc no intelligent ai with advanced combat knowledge and understanding of human anatomy would throw around a target and not just end it without mistake.
Exactly, thank you! This is what I like in this scene. Usually Terminators just stupidly throw people around instead of just using their enormous strength and data about human anatomy to end them right away. But in this scene, what you said.
Yeah, it actually fought and didn’t look corny like the stop motion skeleton did. I’m sorry but sometimes cgi is way better than practical effects terminator being a good example
There was a whole movie where Kyle Reese tried to kill that T-800 but here he kills him in 1 minute...

This movie broke the laws of terminator. They're supposed to be hard to kill
Joshua Luna Well, they did use a grenade launcher and acid to their advantage.
The original movies neglected the 50 cal rifle. Kyle Reese is a soldier sent to protect a human from a terminator yet he doesn't acquire a 50 cal rifle to destroy it? Those are available for purchase in gun shops. There's no reason other than plot armor why Kyle didn't stop the original terminator with the 50 cal. Also in T2. No reason the T1000 in all its brilliance didn't also acquire a 50 and destroy the T800. The 50 rifle is the only readily available weapon that a regular person can get that can penetrate a T800s armor yet no one in the first 2 movies used one? Makes sense in these movies how they are supposed to be prepared so they actually use weapons that can destroy a T800.
@@fujimi715 The original timeline is set in 1997 (judgement day) and the first terminator like 16 years before that but the 50 cal rifle wasn't even a concept till 2000 (barrat 50 cal came out 2002). He could have used a beer at 50 call machine gun as they were around back then however they would have been like trying to acquire a laser gun today- they exist but only in big as military bases and ships
Jerry Kendall Barrett M82A1 entered production in 1982, designs were made in 1980. Not likely they would've acquired one but it was around and in its beginning stages. Also its Browning, not "beer at".
Edit: After a very quick search, the original Terminator film was produced in 1984, and it says that the T-800 was sent from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor so the Barrett M82 was definitely around.
@@Project153 my bad on android phone barrat is autocorrect to "beer at" your correct that's when it was In production but adoption and full scale production wasn't till much later so trying to acquire one would be like trying to acquire a high end gun today

@SO Syrix It was his right arm always from T1 to even this movie that reference his demise in the Cyberdyne factory by Sarah
Actually it was all three of them😂 John in Salvation, then Kyle here, then Sarah in the first Terminator
@@ianscott6467 Well John got scratched in the face in Salvation Jai Courtney almost got his boring expressionless face punched and Sarah almost got choked to death so.... 🤔 yeah true and true 😎👍
They used the grenade launcher cause they were too lazy to continue the cgi Arnold work.
chriss4365 same thing with salvation
They did that on one purpose NAKED who the hell would watch T-800's wiggiling d*ck while chasing kyle reese.
o HITMAN14 o they didn’t have to do much in salvation though. They had a body builder with the same body type as Arnold when he was young, all they had to do was CGI his face. In Genisys they had a guy with the same back as Arnold, not the same overall body, so it must have been harder than in salvation. Not justifying the lack of CGI Arnold in this, I’m just stating the situations presented in both movies, and honestly everyone wants to see the Endoskeleton. in the original The T-800 caught on fire after an explosion and then was revealed as the endoskeleton without any of living tissue still on it while also looking pretty clean and shiny during that scene chasing Sarah and Kyle.
@@oHITMAN14o Yeah, but at least in Salvation it took three grenades to remove the skin, and even then you could see the surface of the endoskeleton was charred and soiled and there were remains of burnt skin and flesh still attached to the T-800. Here, with one grenade the skin completely evaporates and the T-800 is clean and shiny.
Was thinking the same thing
0:43 I love when people shoot grenade launchers and feel no impact from the pointblank explosion.
TheAwesomeDarkNinja you mean the shockwave!
And then on terminator salvation Kyle shoots a terminator in the chest and it gets sent flying back
You mean his skin wouldn't have shriveled up and been peeled off of his face. Hollywood wouldn't mess up like that would they?
That short arming distance tho.
He had flack jacket perk
You can't make a Terminator movie without practical effects
You simply can't
Kyle Campbell at least someone gets it, I wanna see puppet t-800s not motion blurred CGI rubbish
debkamal mullick we never said it wasn’t a metal puppet in 1984...we love it, not disputing it, we know the new version is cgi...which sucks lol
So cgi is bad?
Michael Myers Not at all, the thing is the overuse of it.
The cgi for the t-1000 looks the same as it did in t2.
Some trivia, in both this movie and Salvation the T 800 gets his skin burned off early in the fight, as it's far easier to CGI the endoskeleton than a younger Arnold for an action scene.
Yes! Exactly.
Exactly! They look good for a while but time goes on they get lazy on realistic young arnold cgi, when marvel young cgi perfected this,
You all have to realise that doing cgi on an emotionless skeleton or robot is easier than doing cgi of a real person. If they kept doing young Arnold, they would require more time and resources to make the same scene. This means higher cost to pay for the cgi artists who have to work longer to render every small detail your skin does when performing certain actions. This isn't about laziness, it's about economics.
@@Jojo-oi5vi lazy? They aren't made our of money, that kind of cg is expensive
@@bagelbramble7335 To at least to do a bit more effort into it, since it takes a while before getung the hu,an flesh tissue destroyed in an endoskeleton. I know marvel lasted longer on making the young actor cgi looks perfectly right to begin to end in a much more longer time then the terminators film makers doing there, must say hamilton and edward young cgi look great in darl fate but man this time young arnold cgi looks like that terrible young arnold model in mk 11 that looks exactly like the crappy arnold t 88 in the wwe game.
When you watch the first movie, there was something scary about the terminator, but yet in this one, I didn't feel that same sense of impending doom as it was chasing him.
Well, the first one is a horror movie in the same theme as Friday the 13th or Halloween. All the Terminator sequels are adventure movies. That is part of the reason for change in tone.
Yeah, noticed that too. In the beginning When they zoom into the face of the T800 and the title shows, I got goosebumps.
Btw Sarah in the end knows what the futur is comming and problably still aware of the terminator in case
And thats why T2 changed thones
The score, the cartoon sound effects, the fact that he still has time to crack wise after killing a Terminator... How are we supposed to feel scared if the characters aren't scared?
Well it’s the same concept with alien movies the first is to build up the anticipation of seeing the monster the sequels show if you can survive it
You know what's so funny that people don't even realise. He slapped the terminator with that steel rod and it bend. That means he hit him with enough strength to bend it. Basically Kyle is a super human
Similar scene in T1.
@@srikrishna2561 yes and the bar doesn't bend there.
@@srikrishna2561 Yeah it’s a throw back to the old one but it doesn’t light a candle to it.
Was a rebar rod, Kyle could crushed him bare handed.
Was looking for this comment lol
When Reese hit him with the rebar and it was bent, I can't imagine how much the recoil would hurt from doing that.
Not to mention for the rebar being this bent, he would have had to hit with machine-strength himself.
Kyle clearly has superhuman strength and durability, because that force would rip his hand off.

Salvation used practical effects.
This T-800 is too shiny to look real
Salvation rocks. It's unfortunately very underrated and overhated.
And the worst part is that they complain about the CGI Arnie in Salvation, while the new CGI Arnie looks faker than Superman's mouth
*@Kyle Campbell*
To be honest, the young Arnold looks much better in Genisys than it does in Salvation. I hate Genisys with all my heart, but I must admit that I see its CGI Arnold as the most realistic thing in the movie. I could even say that it's probably the best CGI work I've seen in any movie so far.

Salvation- Puppet T-800 endoskeleton
Genisys- CGI T-800 endoskeleton
Salvation had it better

1:39 I like that as the movies have progressed, they've continued to update the Terminator HUD to keep up with how real computers have evolved since the first movie was made. The target lock going crazy when it loses Reese in the smoke is genuine and authentic for a computer trying to track an object. There's more thought put into it than just 'robot vision'.
I think my fav is Salvation's HUD and its motion tracking dots.
Too bad they didn't put the same amount of thought into the rest of the movie
It's amazing on how he managed to kill the t-800 in just 2 minutes. While in the 1st movie it originally took them almost 2 hours to do it.
T800 aren’t hard to kill. They get destroyed by the hundreds in the future war
@@robertAnthonyColon I think what he meant was in the first movie being that it was in the past, conventional weapons hardly did any damage to it. The future war is different obviously since plasma weapons existed and were more efficient at destroying terminators.
In the first movie. He did not have the same military grade caliber weaponry. Mostly small arms that he could get locally. Which likely made it way more difficult in the original movie. Its like being under geared in a rpg.
he was very lucky to hit his neck which must be the weakest area, just wires
I thought it took 2 days and a half for them to kill the T-800 in T1?

The scenes with young Arnold in this movie were much longer than in Salvation, including some very good close ups when he confronted the punks. And young Arnold was also more of an Easter Egg for the fans and not a main character in this movie. I am very pleased with that 👍🎥

It’s a shame that the new terminator movies are bad! Why?
Same I like genisys the most
I remember back in Terminator and Terminator 2 movie. Terminator took a whole movie to kill.
Only reason it took so long was because they were unequipped. Kyle literally had a .50 cal in this scene.
And terminator 3
T-800 is my favourite one
He's not the strongest and most intelligent terminator, but all in all its a great machine and i like his maskuline look and his kind of acting and solving problems.
T-800 is so great!!!
Actually, he IS the most intelligent pure Terminator (I say pure, because T-3000 was first a human turned into a machine). Every T-800 has been programmed with SkyNet's extensive data on mankind's history, including battle tactics and weapons usage from previous models. That makes them battle-hardened war veterans right off the assembly line, which is something all models that followed (T-900, T-1000, T-X) didn't have, as SkyNet tried to compensate with advanced technology.

So no one's baffled by the fact that the t 1000 "repaired" young arnie when in t2 it was specifically stated that the t 1000 can form only solid metal shapes not machines having complicated mechanical parts??!
Continuity Is broken
T-1001 were specifically stated to be able to do that. Maybe t-1000 also can, considering that metal has to have some type of intelligence/micro cpu/transmitter inside it to work the way it does in T2. So that drop could very well just turned on the switch or some other backup thing.
I think he was just flipping the reboot switch, the tx is the 1 that actually controls them
It's probably not making anything new, just clearing blockage and realigning damaged bits inside of the T-800.

1:57 notice when he fired the Sniper there was no recoil. Big continuity
Well. Kyle got extra muscles for this film. Last time I remember him being an average fit Caucasian male who fought at a severe disadvantage but fit enough to carry a gun. Now he is a body builder who could handle the recoil of a big gun and run across a battlefield like a COD protagonist.
Dole Of Dolonia Well I would love to see how he handles a 50 BMG rifle. Then we’ll see if there is a recoil. But you do have a point. He was sitting against the wall and I just noticed that. That is what one critic would have spotted in the movie but hey, it’s just an observation. Nothing negative.

I enjoyed this movie when I saw it in theaters. Watching this scene now... It feels like there is no weight to the action.
I like the original 1984 T 800 look the best, it had a more realistic skeleton look and the stop motion was genius.
Its crazy how well stop motion holds up. Like robocop. Timeless
What could've made this scene's T-800 look better was the combination of both practical and CGI effects, maybe even blending the two at the same time
The stop-motion of the 1984 T-800 while quite outdated was actually pretty intimidating compared to all others it was so inhuman
And....also, the Javelin scene at the beginning: @0:04 the Terminator weighs like, nearly a Ton at least. Yet, the javelin throws the terminator back against the wall and pins him to the wall. How is that supposed to work? if the Terminator weighs a ton , the javelin would have to weigh at least two tons in order for that to happen!

This is the Only scene from the entire movie that I enjoyed seeing, the T-800 being so deadly and a smart tinker plus the Noise from his feet gives you goosebumps hearing it getting closer to the objective. Of all the Terminator models it's the one that I always enjoy watching seeing one in Action.

0:14 can we take a moment to realize that the sound of the gun has ABSOLUTELY no weight to it? It sounds like using a nerf gun would do more damage.
also how does 1:33 make any sense? How is the T-800 able to completely ignore the impact of that bar, when in the first movie a badly wounded and practically dead kyle reese could do some semblance of damage to the t-800?
also also 1:55 could you use an even lower bitrate overused stock sound effect from a different type of gun to use for the sound to indicate that Kyle has cocked the rifle? - Barry, the sound guy
0:41 I don’t know what it is but this scene is so intimidating
Big buff Austrian man.
Whoa,he sliced his hand spear off,let it do back flips in the air, then catched it and pelt it at Arnold.
I don't like how 'heavy' they made the t800s in this movie. In
the original terminator, he was hit by a car, a truck, shot multiple times, got into a car accident etc. All those times, the terminator was thrown around and slightly damaged or 'staggered'. In this movie, he tanks a grenade launcher to the chest and doesnt even flinch, something the t800 shouldn't be able to do if it were following the rules of the first film.
It just makes the terminators look fake super obvious that they're CGI. The first terminator immersed me so well, and Arnie actually passed as a cold, ruthless cyborg assassin.
I don't really know how to fully word what I'm trying to say without turning it into a 4000 word essay, but I think I ve made my point.
I agree , while they are even tougher than they were portrayed on this movie they should be pushed and thrown around by impacts or explosions , the alloy of this series was extremely durable even plasma rifles had a hard time against them but they were also light in comparison.
In Salvation John Conner hits the T-800 right in the chest piece with a grenade launcher on his AR and sends it flying back from the explosion falling on its back.
That assault rifle has a cool sound when firing bullets.
I would die in seconds in this universe.
That Terminator had some lessons downloaded from the Kool-ade Man 'Oh Yeah!'

(Lethal weapon and maverick movie)
Honestly… I wish we had more scenes of T-800 going beast mode. Whether to save John or to kill him. The sound effects really give it the weight it should have.
I always wanted to see a skeleton terminator protecting someone, when the t800 protects, the most we can see its half face skeleton.. it would be cool to see a terminator that fights so hard that ends up in full skeleton and still protects the human
Later Terminator movies created.......
Great news everyone. You can now kill a T-800 with just a Kitchen Knife.
Fantastic!!!
0:51 this movie had its flaws but damn, this but was iconic
1984: John Connor struggles to fight T-800 till death
2015: Beheaded T-800 in one shot and didn’t even get hurt
He's Kyle Reese.
@@srikrishna2561 took the whole movie for the og Kyle to kill him yet he died even before the T800 was crushed.
Terminator Genesis well they can’t all be gems.

Me, trying to get the cockroach under the sand*
Remember how long it took them to kill the T-800 even in Salvation?

Flawless victory
Salvation was sooo much better. I will never understand the hate for it. It was the 2nd best Terminator movie behind Judgment day
I like Salvation as you need to give it credit for trying (it definitely looked line a big budget movie, etc.) but c'mon are trying to tell us it made more sense than the first one. They did a heart transplant in the open on a desert! Not to even mention skynet's stupid plan to kill Connor also almost every terminator's action to kill or to try someone is so inefficient it's like you can hear in the background screaming "not yet...wait a bit...a little loner...now kill him! Just compare it the beginning of tech noir scene. It's shown in slow mo so that you can see every detail in its execution. Salvation is the best out of those expensive fan films but nowhere near the first two.
Atticus X your deluded this movie is way better than the garbage salvation
Atticus X no that movie was borderline miserable to watch. At least this movie is so dumb that it’s funny to watch.
@@brian.jrmontoya3227 agree to disagree
Георгий Коновченко better concept and idea to be sure, but executed poorly with mediocre story telling and character moments that make it very boring IMO, and some special effects hold up well, some don’t.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL He threw the spear hard enough to lift Arnie off the ground, and carrying him for over 20 feet to pin him to the wall. If he could throw with that amount of force, the spear would go through him without carrying him.
Nice reach dipsh*t😆
1:18 T-800 (Kyle Reese.) is me when someone shoots me with a nerf bullet but I am wearing protective gear on
Everyone saying they hate CGI, but they only notice CGI when it’s done badly. Nothing wrong with making the terminator CGI, you just have to make sure it looks good.
Without this scene, we would never know how “Pops” survives the time machine destruction and becomes a T-1000 of his own
Nonetheless, there’s one problem with this scene... the T-800’s mission was to kill Sarah Conner. There was no programming to kill Kyle
But... there’s only one explanation why it started targeting Kyle, the T-1000 dropped its liquid metal/Polley alloy into the T-800. Therefore, the liquid metal must’ve re-programmed it with a new mission. Kill Kyle Reese instead of Sarah
