More than two decades have passed since Sarah Connor prevented Judgment Day, changed the future, and re-wrote the fate of the human race. Dani Ramos (Natalia Reyes) is living a simple life in Mexico City with her brother (Diego Boneta) and father when a highly advanced and deadly new Terminator - a Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna) - travels back through time to hunt and kill her. Dani's survival depends on her joining forces with two warriors: Grace (Mackenzie Davis), an enhanced super-soldier from the future, and a battle-hardened Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). As the Rev-9 ruthlessly destroys everything and everyone in its path on the hunt for Dani, the three are led to a T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from Sarah's past that may be their last best hope.

Saving humanity from an apocalyptic future ruled by robots only to be replaced with an identical apocalyptic future ruled by robots. The writers really put in the work on this story.
Well what did you expect? Sure, they stopped Skynet by destroying all traces of it…including the proof of why they needed to do that.
They never once tried to explain to the government or even the UN why they needed to stop trying to create AI, but instead they decided to simply destroy the progress they were making. To the outside world, they were a bunch of terrorists who decided to bomb a technological company for “peace” or whatever reasons they’ve speculated.
Of course history would repeat. There was no one to try to educate everyone on why they should stop. Hell, WE are continuously researching AI in the real world now, despite the fact that we all acknowledge the very possibility that a real Skynet could become a reality one day.
Blame T3 for this, where the T-850 said Judgement Day's inevitable.

Honestly the Rev 9 is my favorite terminator model. The movie may be bad, but the design for the Rev 9 is pretty dang good!

I also liked Rev-9 because it addressed the problem of the terminators being a little too human in fights. This one just runs straight toward the target trying to kill them every chance it can

Really? From what I recall there was only this and the fight in the factory that fits your description. All the others are pretty naff and underwhelming, and that's not including the fact that you can barely see them because the rest of the film is so dark most of the time.

I'm still trying to figure out how the story was bad? All these movies are based on creating alternate futures, where the only thing that is certain is that we build machines that want to destroy us. This particular story was just "what if John conner was successfully terminated shortly after the events of T-2". The Sarah Connor Chronicles confirm what I'm saying as far as the cannon is.

“Most lethal” doesn’t mean “most indestructible.” A broken piece of glass is very lethal, but since it’s glass you can just break it.
And to be fair, most if not all terminators are meant to take serious punishment before going down. Hell even the t1000 and t3000 were supposed to be the most advanced models of their time, yet one got melted and the other disintegrated.
Regardless of the actual movie, you gotta admit the Rev 9 is pretty fucking cool. He acts human and he can split. The animation for it is so cool! I love how the endoskeleton looks back like “what the hell?” When Sarah hits him with her car.

@@ineartia5625 most of t2 he was whining to the terminator about nothing almost got himself killed because he went to save sarah and his only skill was hacking not to mention the little shit didn't even want to save mankind, he went to blow up cyberdyne knowing it would change the future to an uknown extent and that extent turned out to be his death I am actually glad john died just it could have been another storyline completely instead of danny they could have gone back in time to t2 and fail their own mission with the cyberdyne and thus rebooting the timeline and saving john, we would get a familiar feeling by revisiting t2 (minigun scene for example) AND we would gotten an ending scene with john saving mankind from terminators and being alive that would be the perfect ending to all of the terminator franchise "there is no fafe but what we make but sometimes we have to be prepared for the consequences of our choices, otherwise we weren't supposed to make them"

Now imagine how good this film would've been, if the director didn't want to insult men.
The only good thing of this movie... the design of the bad guy robot.

John Conner was raised to be a leader, he was taught everything what Sara learned from Kyle and what she could learn on her own, in T2 the Terminator told John future events giving him a edge as the resistance leader. This is why John was the future general, you can't just take some random girl or boy and replace John Conner. It makes no fucking sense.

No OP. In the original story john likely became a great leader by being thrust into it. I think the point is if there was no John, somebody else would have taken his place. Thats kinda the whole point. SOmebody would be the leader and it doens't matter if they die in the past it would just mean somebody else would be the leader.

Hands down, this movie has great fight/action scenes.
Credit where it's due, this film is a bit better written than the other Terminator movies post T2.
Grace throws the rebar pieces at Rev-9, when she see's that isn't working, THEN she opts to destroy the tires. She might be an augmented soldier, but she's still human and capable of making mistakes and learning.
Rev-9 on the other hand is a machine devoted to logic. When he lands on the car his first action is to destroy the wheels. As is logical.
At least the characters act more like you'd expect.
T3 > salvation > genesis > dark Fate

Since he only has one hand free she throws two and he can't do anything about that lol and it pins him in until he separates into two. John Connor at 10 years old had more emotional maturity and sold the "future leader of human resistance" better than this grown-ass girl.
There were just so many better cast members on her team. What genius thought that this young actor would be able to appeal to the audience when she's working with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Mackenzie Davis.
She was okay in the beginning but by the end everyone else is just better developed and more entertaining.

I agree, and i'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed this movie!!! Sure it's nowhere near as good as "Terminator 2: Judgment Day", but I do like the idea of the Rev-9 splitting itself apart the way it does into 2 different entities (that's what makes it look uber-creepy during this highway chase)

No matter what - I just LOVE this movie. Why? Awesome FX and pretty cool action and I like the REV-9 and the fact that the Terminator-Franchise has opened so many different time strings that everything can happen in those universes. That´s why I would never compare all the movies - they are all great somehow. At least for me.

As much as the Terminator franchise has gone downhill since T2, each movie since has always been quite entertaining to watch. At least for me.
I agree. The only problem I had with "Salvation" and "Genisys", was the PG-13 rating damn-near killed the franchise

The only cool thing to come from this movie was Arnold as the Terminator again and the Rev-9 and it’s ability to split into 2 terminators.

Still doesn't hurt like the Truck driver in the Terminator 2. After the helicopter scene and the truck driver comes out and says something like "Are you ok" and then proceeds to get stab in the chest. That one was more sad. Dont know why.

They pushed an agenda...if someone told you to eat brocoli so many times and you decided to watch your favorite vampire move sequal and the vampire looked at the mc and said, "eat your broccoli!" How would you feel? And every movie you watched, wether fantasy, scifi, romance. The MC told another character to eat broccoli...how would you feel? Overburdened no?
