I don't know if anyone will see this to answer, but I am very concerned about a Federal Agency (Western Area Power Administration, part of the Department of Energy) intending to cut down numerous trees on my land where I live, then applying "Garlon" to the stumps to make sure they don't sprout and grow again. 3 of the trees to be murdered are extremely close to my ORGANIC pomegranate trees - trunks of these trees to be cut down & stumps treated with Garlon are only 3 feet away from the pomegranate trees! The roots of the targeted trees must certainly be intertwined with the pomegranate trees because they are so extremely near to one another. Not only am I very worried about the pomegranate trees possibly dying, but even if they don't die, the fruit could be contaminated and might harm WILD BIRDS of many species who eat the pomegranates - I am not the only creature eating them, mostly the birds eat them and that's a really good thing! and makes me happy to be able to feed the beautiful precious birds this way. I feel that I might even have to cut down the pomegranate trees so the birds can't eat the fruit if the Garlon doesn't kill the trees through their roots, in order to protect the birds. More sorrow! The other issue is that my WELL is pretty near to these 3 trees, plus there are numerous OTHER smaller trees which WAPA also intends to cut down & apply Garlon to the stumps, trees who are even closer to the well! I'm very frightened and need information about these 2 specific issues. Loss of precious trees is very sad, but possible/likely poisoning of non-target trees, my well water, and also the ground water for everyone else's well in the area, and poisoning of wild birds would be horrific and utterly unacceptable. Also the soil health will be affected, the fungal network, and any lives living underground in the winter, like wild rabbits, Sonoran Desert Toads, snakes, horned toads, various lizards and other animals I don't know about. I'm so scared and sad! My land and trees and all kinds of animals alive here, and even our water, are soon to be attacked by an enormous and quite callous agency, of the federal government, completely devoid of compassion. ADVICE PLEASE ~~ what facts or likely negative outcomes can I tell the Vegetation Manager at the Western Area Power Administration, in order to convince him not to use Garlon or any kind of herbicide?
Thank you! Great breakdown of the formulas for different uses. I am using the ester for timberstand improvement in Kentucky using basal bark. I was advised to not use above 80 degrees due to volatization into the canopy. The bark oil is cost prohibitive to me over other petroleum-based carriers.
Thank you Dr. Enloe !! i have had 2.5 gallon on garlon 3a for quite a while trying to determine how best to use it. have read and re-read the label way too many times without fully understanding how best to use it. Your presentation here has explained it in 'layman's terms' that i understand and feel confident with. subsequently, i sprayed 6 gallons in my backpack sprayer the past two days in attempt to put a dent in blackberry and privet issues on my acreage in n. alabama. you should offer your services to these manufactures for 'compensation'. it would help everyone!
Question: The Allegare Triclopyr 4 comes at 61.6% fresh out of the bottle. I want to make a 20% spray. Will my spray be literally 20% (meaning I factor in the 61.6% while computing the mix ratio), or do I make a spray that is 20% of the product I bought (meaning 20% * 61.6% = 12.32%)? Does that make sense?
@@mikedegenova9992 that is how I perceive it Mike. I have had the same question and have had the same reply multiple times from industry professionals. 20% by volume, not 20% of the molarity. So....
At about 47 minutes, he says that hack and squirt is not a labeled application method for PathfinderII. The label depicts basal bark treatment and cut stump for application methods. But it doesn't prohibit hack and squirt. What are your thoughts?
wonderful presentation not a single question unanswered. Thank you

Thanks Tim! We're glad you got something from this. Thanks for sharing your experience!

After looking at the Triclopyr 4 label on the bottle, it appears I do not factor in the .616 myself. Correct?

Can someone tell me what to mix in the diesel fuel so I can easily see which trees have been treated. Basal bark application.
When using oils with Triclopyr 4, what percentage of oil is used?
I believe 60/40 with 60% being oil.
@@robertbryant173 Usually 20% by volume of the concentrated ester (T4). So 1 part T4 to 5 parts oil (diesel, kerosene, or preferably bark oil)
very informative thanks
How much product do I use to fill a 2 gallon sprayer. I need to eradicate Creeping Charlie.

Tree removal company just removed a tamerisk tree and used poison. Will this hurt my? cat's
It should not be harmful to your cats. Do you know what chemical was used?
No, because cats shouldn't be outside.
