The legendary "Pain Game". This was Lawrence Taylor playing injured, and with one arm. Proving that he was so good that he could dominate using sheer will alone.
I love how the announcer tried to brag at the beginning of the game about how the Saints linebacking Corps was the best at that time. All at the same time Lawrence Taylor single-handedly willed the most dominant performance in this game by himself... WHILE INJURED!!
@1:15:39.......Johnie Cooks gets cut down by #23 RB Buford Jordan. OLB Carl Banks was injured this game and was out. Banks would have stood Jordan up and pushed him into the backfield or held his ground leaving the RB with nowhere to run.
Our 1988 49ers won 5 of their last 6 games including beating your Saints to win the division and to go win Super Bowl 23 over the Cincinnati Bengals. Repeated in '89 with a dominant 49ers team to win back to back Super Bowls. Your Saints and Rams didn't want it back then and SF owned the 1980s.
After a review of this game I have become disappointed. I thought LT made all of his 3 sacks with injured shoulder! 10 tackles and 2 forced fumbles were made through 3 quarters until the injury, as well as sacks. NFL films disinforms us with their video of LT. On week 13 he got 3 sacks and only one sack through 3 last games of the season with bad shoulder to complete 15.5. Still impressive season and this particular game
@2:27:16..........Lawrence Taylor.......on 3rd and 2 yards......the blocker HAS the leverage.....has pads LOWER than Taylor's.....and Taylor still manages to avoid giving an inch and gets in on the tackle. Damn.
LT #56. A true warrior
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💪🏾🏈🏈🏈🏈
I love watching these old games sometimes with a few beers and a joint haha. Saints fan since 1990.

Two very elite linebacking groups back then with New Orleans Saints and New York Giants.

No one remembers just how great Pat Swilling played in this game.
During the late 80's and early 90s , Eric Martin was one of the most or the most underrated
receivers in the league.
2:14:44 greatest fan reaction ever.
One of the great Giants victories of the era. Certainly LT’s finest hour. So many guys hurt yet an abundance of guts.

Great game
Today that Lonzell Hill is a touchdown.
This era of Saints should have scored more touchdowns than to settle for field goals. Also, the Saints should have won the division this season.

Thanks.
One of the sloppiest games of football ever played. Basically a game of "No, you take it."
Fool
@1:50:14…..coming into the game this was the best team (Saints) in the NFL against allowing sacks. Gave up only 15 all year.
GIANTS: Hold my beer.
Saints lost this a few other games late in year and blew playoffs
LT's pain game
Still hard to watch this one. Saints were so close. This game and the Washington game were the season.
I was a junior in high school that year. The most frustrating Saints season in my life.
@@swalk813 , John Hollis. I sometimes wonder how the season would have played out had the Saints won this game.
Jesus is Lord of the saints
The late Fred Silva was the referee in this game!
Hebert was was having a great season until this game.
If the NFL expanded the playoffs starring in 1988 this would have some playoff intensity plus the loser can prepare the golf clubs
LT a beast
Rob, man, what about 84 matchup between them on week 16? Would be thankful to the sky
Who’s better hostetler or Matt cassell
Not even close. Hostetler all day everyday.

Taylor was injured coming into the game.
